I am over 15 stone (will brave the scales tomorrow)
I am an emotional eater , I am over 50 (just)
I used to be relatively fit and healthy (11stone and ran 5k 3 times a week just a few years ago)
I am really unhappy with my body and don't know where or how to start. I feel ashamed and stupid that I have let things get so bad and could really do with some support.
I know all the things I should do but I feel daft even starting.
Anyone else out there that feels the same and fancies some company?

Yes me. My weight is reflecting my emotional state which isn’t great at the moment. My poor body is exhausted from carrying the extra weight around.

jytdtysrht · 15/04/2022 20:18

I am in the same position and interested in the replies. Don’t feel ashamed though - menopause is very unkind and often we spend our entire time looking after others.

Fatasbuggery · 15/04/2022 20:23

Thank you for the replies and I am sorry you both feel similar. I just don't know why I can't get on with it and do all the things I know will make me look and feel better.

Hi, I’m younger (slightly) but also an emotional eater and scales similar to yours!! After the Easter weekend I am in!!

Fatasbuggery · 15/04/2022 20:39

So Tuesday is our day 1 ?

OP posts:
Ohquietone · 15/04/2022 20:42

Count me in. I’m above the weight you’ve posted and I’m so ashamed and embarrassed. Not to mention uncomfortable.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 15/04/2022 20:44

I'm in please. Touching 50 and I'm just so sick of eating my feelings. I'm fat and unfit and I've had enough

Fatasbuggery · 15/04/2022 20:45

@Ohquietone I am also uncomfortable now and it feels shitty.
It was so sunny today and I didn't want to go out because I knew I would look and feel shit.

TheFrustratedRedhead · 15/04/2022 20:57

Gosh I could have written this today. Nothing fits and I’m so uncomfortable even though I love clothes and all things beauty. I’m 8 months postpartum but I’m bigger than I was when pregnant!

SaxendaSummer · 15/04/2022 21:03

i'm over 50 now and used to run also

had 5 stone to lose but now managed to shift a stone and half

aim to lose about 10 pounds before end of this month. I'm sure menopause doesn't help!

Fatasbuggery · 15/04/2022 21:08

So what is everyone's plan ? I need to stay on track and am happy to be nagged by all!!

OP posts:
SaxendaSummer · 15/04/2022 22:05

i'm staying on saxenda as i'm losing 3-4 pounds a week with little to no effort using it

but i'm using my fitness pal, aiming at 10k steps using my fitbit (i do this easily with work and dog walks)

i'm calorie counting but less carbs/more protein

LongSummers · 15/04/2022 22:29

Wondering whether to try intermittent fasting…

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 15/04/2022 22:47

I'm going to try intermittent fasting with low carb

Fatasbuggery · 15/04/2022 23:00

Intermittent fasting does interest me , I also need to sort out more exercise . It makes such a difference to how I feel.

Fatasbuggery · 16/04/2022 07:08

I have decided to make a start today . My plan is to do IF and get off my arse for a walk this morning. We have friends coming round for food and drinks later so it won't be perfect but it will be better than yesterday and for now that is good enough.

I’m in! I noticed my belly bouncing last night and I’m 14st, my heaviest ever, even more than when I was pregnant!

I can’t shake the weight with diet alone, nor exercise alone, but I shall try combining a bit of calorie counting with increased exercise and hopefully dropping breastfeeding will help me - I’m fairly sure there’s a hormonal element to my weight gain!

Will check in here for encouragement 😁

RunningKatie · 16/04/2022 17:44

I need to lose 4 stone. Even writing that down horrifies me.
I've spent years supporting dh in poor health and using sugar as my booster. I need to start looking after myself properly.
I am starting on Tues, cutting out alcohol, trying to cut down the sugar and also intermittent fasting.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 16/04/2022 19:33

I'm considering getting a weighted hula hoop

Turmerictolly · 16/04/2022 20:16

I'm in! I'm reading the Fast 800, by Michael Mosley and intending to start on Tuesday for two weeks.

turtletum · 16/04/2022 20:47

Can in join in? I'm telling myself I'm post partum but my kids are getting a bit old for that excuse to be valid. I weight 2 stone heavier then when I was 37 weeks pregnant. I'm so ashamed that I've put myself last, not exercised and comfort ate through the sleep deprivation, job stress and lock downs. I do think age and hormones are impacting on my weight.

I've just bought the Fast 800 keto book and intend to start on Wednesday, as that's when I get my weekly food shop. I know I'm going to find the first few weeks tough, so it'll be great to have some accountability and support from you all in here.

Fatasbuggery · 17/04/2022 16:50

Wednesday sounds like a good start day @turtletum , Easter weekend is not a good time to start healthy eating.
I am however going to meal plan from Wednesday.

Oh good I need you lot to shout at me please

I reckon I'm 14 stone (can't weigh because I'm away in Cornwall this weekend, pasty and ice cream central)

But will join in on Wed...not sure exactly what yet, probably calorie count plus at least 5 sessions per week on either exercise bike or treadmill (will have to hang up clothes first)

I'd love to be 11 stone again

Fatasbuggery · 17/04/2022 19:17

Does anyone have any ideas for healthy meal recipe books or sites ?

My main meals do tend to be pretty healthy but could do with some more inspiration.

Snacks are my downfall and I know this will be the thing I will find the most difficult so if anyone has any tips on how to manage that I would appreciate it.

OP posts:
RunningKatie · 17/04/2022 20:44

I'm WFH based in the kitchen and it's a nightmare for snacking. I'm going to make myself a pint of water and chop up a carrot for a snack so I don't get as far as the cupboards.
I now have COVID so that's a bit of a hurdle to overcome.
