Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Thank you @TheRealHousewife โ˜บ๏ธ

fallfallfall · 11/04/2022 18:02

starting the week at 156.8 and did a 30 minute fitness walking video before breakfast.
dh just tested positive for covid, he tested negative two days ago and has been feeling fluey for 4 days now. anyway i suspect i'll get it, i mean we spend nearly 24/7 together and drink each other's tea on a regular enough basis...
@TheRealHousewife, oh that looks yummy!! all those color carry great benefits.
i have a big bag of baby bok choy...i might need to put on my thinking cap for that one.

buzzofthebumblebee · 11/04/2022 18:07

So reassuring to know I'm not the only one struggling with motivation. I always need an end goal and holiday in July seems too far away. Maybe I need to book an event - 10km run or something - and set myself a time target so I actually have to nuckle-down to weight loss and fitness.

But on the plus side, no snacking today, usual yoghurt and fruit & seeds for breakfast, salmon salad with some multi-seed sourdough crackers and dollop of hummus for lunch. Dinner will be fish & roast veg, small portion brown rice.

This evening's activity is pile of ironing, so that will keep me busy and away from thinking of snacking!

Sending positive vibes to you all.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 11/04/2022 19:56

Spot on 1320 cals today. Closing the kitchen!

TheRealHousewife · 11/04/2022 20:19

Hi @fallfallfall sorry to hear about your dh contacting covid. Fingers crossed he isnโ€™t too Iโ€™ll with it! The pic I posted today isnโ€™t mine (food usually is), I googled tray bake for inspo for @ImALittlePea ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

@buzzofthebumblebee I actually enjoy ironing โ€ฆ although only small spurts at a time as my back/feet grumble. Well done on swerving the snacks!

@MistySkiesAfterRain Nice healthy cal count ๐Ÿ‘

I have an ironing mountain at the moment, Buzz - its threatening to engulf the room (been taking advantage of the lovely weather and washing everything as I can hang outside but downside is the sheer amount I now need to sort out!) Will save that for later in the week though.

Weird day today due to random visitors, work, lots of DC friends and trying to fit too much in but.. managed to get a swim in, eat healthy and am now trying not to go back for a second Skinny Crunch (just discovered the Fruit & Nut ones and they are just lovely!)

SunshineGone · 12/04/2022 08:35

Hi everyone

DD still hasn't come home or contacted us. Police saw her again nine days ago but won't tell us why. I know I have to a accept we might never see her again but I have no idea how to do that. I have literal pain when I think about losing her whether she is alive or not. I'm not sure how we cope with this tbh.

SunshineCake1 · 12/04/2022 08:38

Sorry it's me.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 12/04/2022 08:52

@SunshineGone I don't know the story but that sounds awful, I am so sorry.

HouseofHolbein · 12/04/2022 09:12

@SunshineCake1 ๐Ÿ’• there are no words I can say to help. Much love to you all from me

TheRealHousewife · 12/04/2022 09:22

Good Morning Everyone

@SanFranBear you sound like super women, all what you had to do PLUS fitting a swim in! Inspiring! Raining here so canโ€™t get washing out today. Looks brighter tomorrow. I agree, nothing like line dried freshness < sounds like an advert ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

@SunshineCake1 how utterly heartbreaking ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Sending a hug although I realise how inadequate that sounds.

Menu
Meal 1 - Simple romaine lettuce & Parmesan salad with olive oil & boiled eggs.
Meal 2 - Tray bake salmon, sweet potato, tomato & green beans.
Tea, coffee & water.

Enjoy your day!

In good news - ironing got done, and I booked a 10 km running event, so have a few weeks for extra training. In bad news I had nuts after dinner last night. Really not needed. Extra calories (lots) that I shall def pay for. Still, what's done is done, and they are gone now!

Your "simple" salad sounds delicious @TheRealHousewife as does your dinner. No idea what a skinny crunch is @SanFranBear - but hope you resisted a 2nd, and if you did hats of too you!

Still thinking of you @SunshineCake1 - sending love. Can't imagine the turmoil you are all in. Flowers

I've got pilates this evening - not much in the way of calorie burn, but I can def feel the effect afterwards!

Gonnagetgoing · 12/04/2022 12:28

Afternoon all. Apologies been away Sunday and last night so back now.

My weekend diet I may as well forget about but I did:- 25,802 steps on Saturday.
Breakfast: bagel with peanut butter and flora proactiv. Lunch: wrap with Peruvian chicken sauce, salsa, salad etc
6 cocktails plus shot plus g&t
Dinner: greggs vegan sausage roll, krackawheat plus 2 laughing cow light triangles and quarter Edam.

Sunday:- canโ€™t recall breakfast but had cheese and krackawheat early. Unsure re lunch but had fishcake cheese sauce veg etc

949 steps Sunday but was more as did half hour walk in park and phone in car

Monday 13,285 steps plus 20 min run. Breakfast Kelloggโ€™s berry granola plus Yeo valley yogurt and blueberries and honey. Lunch: asparagus sweet potato potato bake plus Linda McCartney sausage which was same as yday. 80g raspberries. Dinner: fishcake again with veg.

Downfall - 1 huge bag Cadburyโ€™s mini eggsโ€ฆ Shock

Weight 11 stone

TheRealHousewife · 12/04/2022 13:18

Hi @buzzofthebumblebee it would have been delicious but had a menu change due to the wet and cold weather. We had Spicy Cauli soup with GF Parmesan & garlic croutons ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. As a snack nuts arenโ€™t all bad. Fibre, healthy fats and other good nutrients ๐Ÿ‘

My eyes ๐Ÿ‘€ nearly fell out of my head at your step count @Gonnagetgoing โ€ฆ blummin well done ๐Ÿ‘ At least it was teeny tiny mini eggs and not ginormous cream eggs ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Iโ€™ve not seen laughing cow ๐Ÿฎ for a long time. I first discovered that brand in the Canary Islands. I laughed my socks off at the name ๐Ÿ˜…. It might have been something to do with going shopping after a lazy boozy lunch and wearing beer Goggles.

Might just go back to bed. Not slept properly for a few nights due to flare up in pain and Iโ€™m bone crushingly shattered.

Any words and hugs are appreciated. Thank you. Barely holding it together. Told another friend today who I actually used to work for. Feels more real and scary each time we have to tell someone.

ImALittlePea · 12/04/2022 13:59

@fallfallfall that sounds like a tasty tongue twister... Big bag of bak choi ๐Ÿ˜‚
@fallfallfall that sounds like a tasty tongue twister... Big bag of bak choi ๐Ÿ˜‚
Big bag of baby bok choi, in fact.... Even twistier!

ImALittlePea · 12/04/2022 14:07

Oh @SunshineCake1 my thoughts are continuously with you. It sounds like a living nightmare ๐Ÿ’”

Didn't have the healthiest dinner last night ๐Ÿ‘€ but overall calories for the day were a far way below my upper limit, which must compensate for something.

I've finally made a proper meal plan for the week and done a Big Shop, so today's meals are:
L - salad with leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, spring onion, peppers, beetroot, feta and homemade vinaigrette. 250 cals.
D - pea risotto. It's from a toddler cookbook (trying to work more meals into our regular rotation that we can all have as a family as I'm so bored of cooking multiple meals!) So I'm hoping it's got enough oomph to it. DH and DS will have garlic bread, I will try to refrain ๐Ÿคž followed by a small pot of Greek yoghurt and some fruit.

SunshineCake1 · 12/04/2022 18:22

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee @TheRealHousewife and @ImALittlePea. Apologies if I have missed anyone.

I'm trying to find something out from the police but not getting anywhere. I've been told OTR by an inspector there is no reason they can't answer me so finding it all more stressful than it needs to be.

DS2 has gone for a sleepover and party at his friends so I'm pleased for him. Odd for dh and I as first time home alone for a long time.

I ran outside yesterday and today and I am really pleased I did and how it went.

I so appreciate all your thoughts and good wishes. Honestly, it helps so much. Thank you.

SanFranBear · 12/04/2022 19:26

It all sounds so hard at the moment, Sunshine. Hope you and your DH are able to find some peace this evening Flowers Well done for getting out to run - I am not a runner and admire all those who are. Good luck for your 10k training, Buzz - have you done that distance in a 'race' before?

Hope your risotto had some punch, Pea - I adore risotto but neither DC do...I rarely cook different meals for us, adap stuff but not totally different. That said, I've got some risotto rice and DC are away from tomorrow so think will investigate my book (yes, I have a dedicated risotto cookbook!) and choose something fairly low cal. Unlikely to have big baby bak choi involved though Smile

Also impressed with the steps, GonnaGetGoing - sounds to me like you deserve those mini eggs. I know a lot of people don't like Cadbury's chocolate as much these days but mini eggs are just lovely!

Lovely as always to see your posts, RealHousewife. They always make me smile - you're a very calming presence.

Right - off to plan my next few days hiking... whilst the kiddiewinks are away, I shall get myself into the great outdoors. Shame the weather seems to have turned a bit soggy today - fingers crossed just a temporary blip and the sun pops back out from tomorrow.

ImALittlePea · 12/04/2022 22:07

The risotto was really nice actually, although both kids did that thing of having a few happy mouthfuls and then refusing any more ๐Ÿ˜ after a long day it did make me feel fed up, tbh. DH and I love risotto anyway so it's nice to have a fresh recipe to use, I guess!

I caved tonight and had the rest of a bottle of wine left from the weekend though... As mentioned above, it's been a long ("one of those") days.. but all tracked on MFP and still under my max calories for the day.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 13/04/2022 01:42

Breakfast - usual porridge, blueberries, yoghurt, pumpkin seeds and half a brazil nut! Half a brazil has all the selenium you need.
Lunch - broke norm and had a wheat and rye roll with chicken , plain side salad and two yoghurt rice cakes. Have found cutting down butter good.

This did not leave a lot for dinner, so had canned tuna, buckwheat pasta, with zero fat yoghurt and lemon , and some avocado. Had some cals left so had mushrooms fried in water and an egg white. Pleased with my dedication. I usually eat nicer but my lunchtime roll and rice cakes used up a lot.

ginsparkles · 13/04/2022 07:45

Hello, so am reporting a maintain this week, which considering the amount of eating out that occurred this past week is a result!

Have been under calories each day since the weekend so am happy with that.

Todays plan is:
Pesto pasta salad
Scampi with salad

I am determined to up the fluid intake this week too. Covid lungs have been playing up a lot this week putting pay to any plans to increase the exercise. A year ago today was Dads funeral, so I am trying to stay busy so I don't dwell and dive into chocolate

buzzofthebumblebee · 13/04/2022 08:03

Congrats on the maintain @ginsparkles - you are braver than me as I could not face the scales today.

And thoughts with you too gin for yesterday. Funnily enough my late DM has been in my head this week - not sure it's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's made me feel guilty (for what I don't know .... oh actually I do know .... oops, well that's me told off!!).

Late night. I binged the first 4 episodes of new series of The Split. Love that series.

You have motivated me to start calorie counting again @ImALittlePea & @MistySkiesAfterRain I need to get back on track, and that's one very good way, as my head certainly isn't (still).

Bright sunny day here today - spreading sunshine to you (esp to you sunshine!)

Wizzwazzwas · 13/04/2022 08:18

Morning all!

So I am just over 6 weeks in now.

SW: 91.5kg
CW: 85.3kg

Objectively I know this is great progress, averaging about 1kg per week. But, the last week I have found tough. Iโ€™ve only lost 0.4kg this week, and itโ€™s not even yet water-retaining PMT week. I have upped my exercise gradually over last ten days, and had a very active weekend away, where I had to eat out Fri to Sun, but I managed to stick to my eating plan and even found loads of veg.

Iโ€™m just feeling really disheartened. Itโ€™s such a big hill to climb. Iโ€™m still obese, and have at least another 18+kg until Iโ€™m not overweight. I was hoping to get to that by Aug bank hol, but if rate of weight loss has halved now feel like it might take twice as long. Iโ€™m tired, and Iโ€™ve felt hungry this week too. There arenโ€™t enough hours in the day to do everything I want to (still not been for a swim).

Sorry for the pity party, Iโ€™m just struggling a bit right now. Feel like I might just fail yet again. I first started using mfp in 2015, and right now I weigh 0.9kg more than I did then. I got down to 72kg at one point in 2018, but then a lot of personal and world (pandemic!) issues happened. Iโ€™m almost back to where I was at the end of lockdown 2021, or March 2020 (managed to do better and get fitter in Autumn 2020), but itโ€™s just not good enough. Work has been intense recently, and thatโ€™s not helping at all.

I know I need to focus on health benefits not numbers on scale. Iโ€™m feeling fitter and stronger. Itโ€™s just miserable being fat, and unfortunately I do take great pleasure in food and have always used it as a comfort. It is a really struggle to change that.
