Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@SingaporeSlinky Happy to join you on a maintenance thread ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a fantastic break โœˆ๏ธ

Crazzzycat · 09/04/2022 14:27

What a fab update @SingaporeSlinky. Enjoy your holiday!

SanFranBear · 09/04/2022 16:10

Well done, SingaporeSlinky - that's some impressive numbers! Have the very best of breaks - very jealous Smile

I had to clothes/shoe shop with DC today which is always hard work as my DS, in particular, has to be shoehorned out of the house. We had a McD's for lunch but I 'only' had a Big Mac, no fries. Last time I treated the kids, I actually had nothing and after dropping ยฃยฃ's, felt the need for one - it was delicious and has satisfied my urge.

Lasagne for tea tonight so pretty full on day but hoping to offset it with some good walks in the week to come.

Got littlest pusscat on my knee, nice cuppa at my elbow so will put off hitting the kitchen for a while yet! Happy Saturday, y'all

fallfallfall · 09/04/2022 17:06

have a great vacation @SingaporeSlinky, well done on the weight loss!

ImALittlePea · 09/04/2022 18:33

Huge well done @SingaporeSlinky! Have an amazing holiday!

SingaporeSlinky · 09/04/2022 18:43

Thank you all!

Day 99 - Sun 10th April - 9s 4lb
BMI 21.5
BF 24.2

All I can say is I had fish & chips & an Easter Egg last night ๐Ÿ˜€

Not a great series of stats for departure...away back to London for a week so will update - & endeavour to catch up - when I get back ๐Ÿ™‚

buzzofthebumblebee · 10/04/2022 13:13

Quick pop in to see you & all & say hello.

3-days driving / in the car. Feel my bottom has spread! Should have got up and out for a run this morning, but decided to stay in bed. Bad call. Oh well.

Think I will need to be super strong for next couple of weeks - and back to no snacking in any shape or form. No crisps, no cake, no chocolate, no wine, no unnecessary carbs, no wine. Think Easter sunday will be an exception, but other than that, I need to find the strong mindset again.

No time to dame tag, but really enjoy catching up, and sending you all positive wishes

SanFranBear · 10/04/2022 17:23

Checking in for a bit of accountability - DD has her friend over again for a two day sleepover which I didn't realise was happening until after I'd meal planned and shopped for the week. So am having to do some jiggery pokery around some of my meals. Luckily, due to me throwing every veg I own at it, the lasagne I made yesterday was surprisingly low calories so I'll be having one of the extra portions of that tonight (whilst I watch everyone else hoover up a gammon roast - probably my favourite roast as well!)

I also made some muffins today (DD is really poor at ensuring she has breakfast before shooting off for school so I make a batch of muffins every Sunday). Normally, they're veggie/fruit based with seeds and all that good stuff but went with chocolate chip ones for this week seeing as they're on holiday. Having been out for a nice walk over lunchtime, will have one but will sacrifice the remainder to the 'never full' pre-teens.

Hoping everyone has had a lovely weekend Smile

Eesha · 10/04/2022 17:29

Just weighed myself and have lost 5kg in 2 weeks post my breakup (currently 89.5kg). I have been sleeping a lot more plus tried to only eat on smaller plates. Hoping to lose another 6kg to get back to weight pre boyfriend. I have purchased slim fast to replace breakfasts for a week to see whether that works.

TheRealHousewife · 10/04/2022 18:29

Fantastic results @SingaporeSlinky๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘โญ๏ธ๐Ÿฅ‡. Have a fabulous holiday, youโ€™ve earned it! ๐Ÿน

My iPad is doing that thing that when I try to touch type the letters arenโ€™t appearing on screen. Taking forever! Will try again tomorrow after reboot.

Checking in
Got covid so just trying to eat vaguely healthy. Missing exercise (which is a new strange feeling!) but decided it's best not to push it.
Well done to everyone else and hope you all had a good weekend

fallfallfall · 10/04/2022 21:25

Slow progress, down 3.1 since January.
Certainly a nicer steadier pattern since earlier exercise.
My goal this week is to keep up the fasted exercise, low carb and low cal.

pennysays · 10/04/2022 22:34

Hi everyone! Iโ€™ve been away for a bit - off with a grim cold (not covid) and now I think Iโ€™m about to get my period. None of which has been hugely conducive to losing weight and then it feels weird to check in here when youโ€™re not actually loan g weight but actually gaining it! But long term weight loss is the holy grail and I keep reminding myself that weight loss journeys are not linear and that I can simply make small steps to get me back where I want to be. Some habits still sticking firmly:

I religiously eat porridge and fruit for breakfast and donโ€™t feel the need for Snacks before lunch. I eat later in the morning and that helps.

I am much better at turning to fruit for a snack.

I absolutely canโ€™t keep chocolate or biscuits in the house or eat them immediately without any control. So I wonโ€™t have them. Not having doesnโ€™t mean I wonโ€™t eat brownies or chocolate ever but it means Iโ€™ll have it in a cafe or at dinner with friends rather than every day.

Things I need to improve:

I need more low carb, quick recipes to eat. I eat stir fry at least four times a week and it is dull! I love to cook but find it hard to make the time to spend more than 20 mins preparing dinner.

I eat very fast. I just need to chew a bit slower and take more breaks while I eat. I donโ€™t know why I eat so fast. Itโ€™s not at all enjoyable.

pennysays · 10/04/2022 22:46

Stats for this week:

SW: 90kg
CW: 73.3kg (up 1.1kg from my lowest a few weeks ago)
GW: TBC!

Finding it hard to manage exercise and food too. Too little before and My game is not as good. Too little afterwards and I wake up wanting to eat the entire world.

Sending love to you @SunshineCake1 sounds so tough. FWIW i spoke to a counsellor once, also about something I could do nothing about and it had a huge impact on me then and has carried onto this day.

Foreverlexicon · 11/04/2022 06:14

Iโ€™m struggling to get my head properly back in the game post holiday. Iโ€™m not doing badly, probably eating a little too much chocolate but still making conscious choices. Have been back out for a run and hit the gym yesterday which felt great.

I just have no real motivation to count calories, not helped that I feel relatively comfortable at current weight (although still not really where I want to be) and the urgent rush of bikini bod has gone.

DP is also slacking off, which is tricky. I want to give her a kick up the bum; I donโ€™t care about her weight but itโ€™s been lovely seeing her more confident and happier with herself as she gets so down about her weight but I feel if I push her, it will come across the wrong way. Probably need to just lead by example!

MistySkiesAfterRain · 11/04/2022 06:41

Can I join you? I was 12 st 1, now 11 st 4.8.

I go on holiday in 44 days. I would love to be 10st 7 for then. My goal weight is somewhere between 9st 3 and 9st 10.

I was ill with a virus and am now playing catch up. I had also reached that plateau point where I either need to cut more calories or exercise more. I suspect a little of both would be best. I was feeling a bit frustrated as the difference isn't very noticeable but my shoulders are slimmer and I lost 1.5cm on my waist and my jeans are more comfortable, plus the appearance of my cellulite has improved massively as I have cut out added sugar and full fat products (I will keep up the low fat for now but may revert back when I reach maintenance).

My goal this week is to not exceed the calorie intake I need for a deficit, as I was over slightly last week and am now half a pound up. I have quite a lot of walking planned and also need to be careful over easter. I would really like to be 11st4 by Sunday as I have been hovering at 11st 4.2 - 11st 4.8 for ages.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 11/04/2022 06:59

I should add I'm just calorie counting with the aim of a deficit. I do make sure I hit about 80% of daily nutritional targets.

My motivation is - wearing a bikini; holiday photos; fitting into old clothes / feeling slim; feeling more photogenic and confident; buying new clothes; knowing that I am losing it and keeping it off this time because losing weight at 41 is so much harder than at 37 and it's easier just to keep it off than let it back on; my waistline; more energy. It sounds superficial - apart from more energy - but it's the shallow stuff that gives me the kick to do it.

ginsparkles · 11/04/2022 07:08

Good morning.

I have been hiding as it's been an awful few days! Lots of the wrong food, there's been wine, sweets argh!

Anyway, can't go back, only forward so we shall reset and try again!

Well done @SingaporeSlinky for an amazing loss, hope your having a great holiday.

@SunshineCake1 .... my heart goes out to you.

ImALittlePea · 11/04/2022 07:10

Trying to muster some Monday motivation over here! After (deliberately) missing weigh in last week I'm planning to hop on the scales on Friday to assess the covid/birthday/school holiday damage. Still the hols here but don't want that to he a golden ticket back to old habits. Having a total brain blank when it comes to meal planning though?!

TheRealHousewife · 11/04/2022 09:09

Good Morning Everyone

@fallfallfall That is a nice steady loss youโ€™re achieving. Iโ€™m pleased for you as I know how consistent you are ๐Ÿ‘โญ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ I find it difficult to remain consistent when Iโ€™m hovering around goal. My โ€˜goalโ€™ is a good 7lbs less than what my body sees as โ€˜goalโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Welcome back to thread @pennysays โ€ฆ gaining, losing or maintaining you are more than welcome to keep checking in. Hormones play havoc with appetite and I remember I used to absolutely devour carbs when Aunt Flo was due. Then again that was followed by a considerable whoosh when she left again so it evened out for me. I love stir fry and use different flavourings to liven them up. Chilli, garlic, aminos, even a spoon of peanut butter. I factor in the calories so it doesnโ€™t sabotage my efforts.

@Foreverlexicon I hear you. Post holiday food wise can be tough. I agree about leading by example with your partner. Let her see you sparkle and shine in your own weight loss. Sheโ€™ll soon join in Iโ€™m sure ๐Ÿ‘Well done on getting back in the gym!

Welcome to the thread @MistySkiesAfterRain I canโ€™t say if youโ€™ll hit your target in 44 days but what I will say is youโ€™ll make a significant difference if you remain consistent in your efforts. Well done on your loss so far! Keep posting and enjoy the journey.

@ginsparkles You are right, whatโ€™s done is done and today is reset day. Youโ€™ll soon get back into it.

@ImALittlePea I look online and in my books a lot for inspo. Itโ€™s easy to get into a rut. What main ingredients have you in the fridge and Iโ€™ll see if I can find anything for you.

@SunshineCake1 Thinking of you โค๏ธ

Letโ€™s have a positive loss this week! Thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m planning on anyway ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Morning all! I just canโ€™t seem to get out of the habit of eating lots of rubbish at the moment. Iโ€™ve finally accepted that my willpower is close to zero at the moment, so Iโ€™ve at least made sure that my weekly shop didnโ€™t include any of my favourite snacks. I thought I could be trusted around them, and usually I can, but these past few weeks...๐Ÿ˜ฃ

Things are a bit better on the exercise front. Iโ€™m still managing to keep up with the rowing challenge I signed up for. Iโ€™ve impressed myself! ๐Ÿ˜‚
Thereโ€™s only 5 more days, but those are going to be really tough. Iโ€™d never even done 10 km until a few weeks ago and this week is 10k+ every single day. What could possibly go wrong?!

Finally, a quick update on my 2022 km in 2022 challenge - I did 81.93 km last week, which brings the total so far to 919.51. If all goes according to plan, I expect to get very close to that first 1000 km this week.

TheRealHousewife · 11/04/2022 10:36

Hi @Crazzzycat craving increase when our sugar/carb intake goes up. But I can understand your body craving more in light of all the exercise youโ€™re doing. Youโ€™re probably burning it all off rather than laying down fat. Well done on your challenge to date. Looking at your numbers youโ€™d be nearer to 3000km at years end ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘โญ๏ธ๐Ÿฅ‡. Also blummin well done on your rowing too! Awesome progress! Itโ€™s thanks to you that Iโ€™m mindful to move for a least 22 minutes a day (not a lot for most people) which Iโ€™m enjoying.

ImALittlePea · 11/04/2022 14:37

My issue today is that I don't have much in, because I usually shop to a meal plan, but haven't meal planned because I'm feeling lazy and unmotivated! Hah!

I've got... Potatoes, carrots, broccoli, eggs, cheese, beans, pasta, peppers and tomatoes. Think there are a few random bits in the freezer (sausages, mini pizzas, beige various). I had a small salad with some cheese for lunch (240 cals, according to MFP) so as long as I don't cave and dive into the crisp basket this afternoon I have a decent allowance for dinner. I just need to come up with some lazy yet robust, low cal and desirable meal ideas for the rest of this week. All suggestions welcome!

TheRealHousewife · 11/04/2022 14:55

Hi @ImALittlePea What hits me straight away is either a quiche or frittata with any of the toms, peppers, broccoli.

Sausage tray bake with the potatoes, carrots, broccoli, peppers etc.

Cheesy pasta with cherry tomato.

If youโ€™ve loads of peppers, toms & carrots โ€ฆ roast extra when you do the tray bake then whiz the spare up with a veg stock and make soup.

Thatโ€™s just a few ideas of the top of my head.
