Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..

But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

@HardRockOwl that's an amazing first week!

1200 calories is too low for me, I'd give up and binge. I've even tried higher calories, up to 1800, but am fed up of all the micro managing and counting.

This way of eating just makes sense to me. It's healthy and I enjoy healthy food, just too much of the other stuff too!

I like the idea of regular snacks too.

I guess it's scary letting go of calorie counting, but I can't sustain that forever and I'm just going round in circles anyway. I'm looking for a long term solution!

Sutra · 06/04/2022 17:27

This is such a lovely, busy, supportive thread! Well done everyone on the day 1’s, the losses, the crappy-snack-avoiding-efforts!!

I have been so far out of the inner circle it looks like a dot in the distance. I’ve been so sleep deprived and it just breaks me…. Had a nap this afternoon, going to do an exercise dvd this evening and eat an on plan tea.

I also love the idea of letting go of calorie counting and I might nick the notion (can’t remember whose) of just prepping the same sorts of meals just to make life easy. If this is going to be sustainable, it has to be the uncomplicated, easy choice hasn’t it?

HardRockOwl · 06/04/2022 17:37

I never ever thought I'd let go of calorie counting tbh because it seemed to make sense to me so it's really weird that I've not given calories a second thought this past week.

@Sutra ugh sleep deprivation is just the worst isn't it? That's when I crave all the things I shouldn't!

Absolutely ballsed up dinner really. Was busy and then couldn't be bothered to make anything so I just had a bowl of Greek yogurt with strawberries and a few walnuts

Will you be OK with just that HardRockOwl?
I hope you get some good sleep tonight Sutra.
A good day for me today, in the circle.
B: porridge, berries, pine nuts
L: left overseas from last night's sausage and bean smash made into an omelette
D: Nonna's traybake
S: oatcakes and cashew nut butter, 1 dark chocolate
I went for a run and am currently at 15k steps.
One of my excuses for overeating is having a bean pole of a DH who never puts on weight, despite eating all around him Hmm. He likes to cook, but goes heavy on the carbs. I'll have to intervene to adapt my portion. He is very supportive but with his metabolism, I don't think he really gets what a struggle it can be!
I found that I have the first two books on kindle, so am rereading for motivation and inspiration.

Topazpearlagain · 06/04/2022 19:24

Haven't managed to track down the GOOD vanilla paste yet, but I had to laugh the other day when making Broccoli and butterbean soup and the recipe required GOOD stock (I actually had some in the freezer). Louise would have been proud of me Grin

EssexLioness · 06/04/2022 19:58

@Topazpearlagain I have one of those at home too - infuriating at times! 😆 DH is so skinny, with a big appetite and would just live off crap if he lived on his own. When we were dating, he would get a takeaway every night for himself so he didn’t have to cook (unless we were going out somewhere). Like yours, he is very supportive but I think it’s hard to truly understand unless you have struggled with your own weight.

Had another good day today. Stayed with my meal plan. The swoodles (noodles made from swede) we really nice. I have half a pack left as DH had rice with stir fry, so I will eat those later in the week. I was nowhere near my steps (as usual) but did 1/2 hour barre workout which will do as was a busy work day today. I do need to increase my steps but I naturally walk more when the weather warms up and most days I get an hour of exercise, so I am not going to beat myself up about my steps. I did a bit of painting earlier as my daily pleasure… I started this year and am absolutely terrible (looks like a child did it), but I do find it ever so relaxing and really enjoy it.

Pumpkin2901 · 06/04/2022 20:19

It sounds like everyone is doing well. It definitely makes things harder when you've had a bad night's sleep, I hope it's better tonight.

@EssexLioness that's great about the painting. It sounds very relaxing. I did some yoga today, I used to do it regularly and had forgotten how relaxing it can be.

I'm just kind of guessing on the food at the moment and using up what I've got in.

B: porridge, flaxseed and blueberries
S: apple and a few mixed nuts
L: half a tin of beans on one slice of wholemeal toast
S: full fat (5%) skyr (100g approx) and a banana
D: moroccan quorn meatballs and green beans

It's probably way off the mark (or the circle!?), I need to get hold of the books!

EssexLioness · 06/04/2022 20:37

@Pumpkin2901 yes it is relaxing. I enjoy yoga too for the same reason.

Your menu looks mostly ok but baked beans aren’t allowed as they are processed and have a lot of sugar in. I think the meatballs probably aren’t allowed either as they are processed, but I am vegan myself and plan on using the odd meat substitute like meatballs, sausages etc. I don’t think it will do any harm if I’m on plan the rest of the time, but will see if it reflects on the scales.

HardRockOwl · 06/04/2022 21:05

I agree with @EssexLioness - no to baked beans and possibly on the meatballs, if they're just plain beef and seasonings? Apart from that though, it's a good days of food

Try vinted for the books by the way. I'm pretty sure they have some for just a few quid left

I’m in bed! Obviously haven’t quite managed the LP digital detox, but I’m going to read for a bit and then hopefully sleep for 8 hours straight Grin

@Pumpkin2901 I got the books second hand from Amazon, they weren’t expensive and arrived really quickly.

indiesearcher · 06/04/2022 23:01

Argh I was doing so well...

Until I got to the hotel and colleagues suggested going fit Chinese food.

Officially out of the circle tonight but back on it from the morning!

Sutra · 07/04/2022 06:53

@indiesearcher hope the food was delicious!
I’m aiming to be back in the circle today too - about to go and prep lunch and snacks so it will be easy to eat well, fingers crossed! It’s when I don’t prep, get stressed and hungry, that’s when I dive into cheap processed crappy food that doesn’t make me feel good. So if I’ve prepped, I can take care of myself when the stress/hunger happens.

Pumpkin2901 · 07/04/2022 08:05

Sounds like a good plan @Sutra! I'm going to try harder today, I know what people mean about the processed foods, I need to use a few things up and then will start properly.

HardRockOwl · 07/04/2022 09:13

Prep definitely key! I was thrown off last night a bit hence having yogurt, strawberries and walnuts as a main meal!

Starting the day with the strawberry vanilla smoothie ... looks nice anyway!

Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..

Having a delicious snack of almond butter on ryvita with sliced banana

Lunch will have to be a mozzarella ball with beef tomato and basil leaves as that's all I have the energy to make today Grin

Think I'm going for the tofu and peanut stir fry for dinner

Hope everyone doing ok!

OP posts:
EssexLioness · 07/04/2022 13:35

I will have to try that tofu and peanut stir fry. Is it in the Lean for Life book @HardRockOwl?

Breakfast was coffee and oat cakes.
Snack: banana
Lunch: protein shake

Then snack for later will be yoghurt with blueberries and walnuts. I am making some cashew cheese for dinner to have with some baguette and garlic roast tomatoes. I am home alone so not going to bother cooking but baguette with cheese feels so decadent and not like my usual ‘diet’ food.

EssexLioness · 07/04/2022 14:15

Oh and my win for this morning: often on a Thursday morning I will take my dog for a walk near this lovely cafe where we stop for a coffee and some cake. Well today I thought about it, then had a banana so I wasn’t hungry. Then drove to somewhere different for our walk.

Topazpearlagain · 07/04/2022 15:03

Rushes in excitedly! Look what I found - this appears to be a link to the full cookbook
choolskool.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/The-Louise-Parker-Method-Lean-for-Life-The-Cookbook-PDFDrive.com-.pdf#page1

I hope it works.

Lostmyunicorn · 07/04/2022 15:09

May I join you? I’ve just got the book and am trying to do my planning week before diving straight in. Are there any veggies on here - I’m going to need to adapt a bit….

EssexLioness · 07/04/2022 15:16

Welcome @Lostmyunicorn, yes @HardRockOwl is veggie and I am vegan.

@Topazpearlagain thanks for that link. Will have a proper browse later

Lostmyunicorn · 07/04/2022 15:24

Thanks - do you mostly just sub tofu or lentils? I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with tofu!

Pumpkin2901 · 07/04/2022 16:57

@Topazpearlagain that link is fantastic! Thank you Smile

@HardRockOwl your food always sounds yummy!

I bought some oatcakes today and had them with almond butter and blueberries. They were better than I thought and seemed like a substantial snack to tide me over until the evening. I'm thinking to rotate oatcakes, rye bread and rivita with various toppings. I had 3 oatcakes, I'm thinking either 1 slice of rye bread or 2 rivitas, does this sound about right?
