But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

I do have the stevia drops but back when I was doing keto I bought something called Sukrin gold from Amazon for baking which I prefer, it's expensive but lasts ages if you're not baking with it, it's got more of a brown sugar flavour which is nicer, I use it for Bircher and also for balancing flavour in salad dressing, and curries.

@ElvenDreamer I have food envy for your menu today, sounds great!

I've been at a kids party and manage to avoid the cupcakes, feeling strong 💪

HardRockOwl · 24/04/2022 14:21

@Throwawaytoday welcome to the thread! Smoothie sounds delicious - watch the honey though as Louise has BANNED IT! and I agree with you - surely new fat should be easier to shift?!

Afternoon all

Working in my friends cafe today and it's a long slog

Food so far ..

Strawberry bircher

Apple slices + peanut butter

A few mouthfuls of an m & s superfood salad but didn't like all the beans in it!

8 strawberries

So I'm a bit low on food but not feeling particularly hungry tbh - will have some marinated tofu and veg later for dinner and then it's 4th weigh in tomorrow! I'm really hoping to have made the stone but you never know

Fingers crossed for your stone off @HardRockOwl

Throwawaytoday · 24/04/2022 15:10

GAH on the BANNED honey @HardRockOwl I knew but I forgot for a second. I'm sure 1tsp won't do any (much) harm... At least not as much harm as the fried chicken I just ate (at a friend's house at lunch time, home cooked, delicious, but very non LP, I did avoid the pizza though).

Either way, came home for a snack of apple and peanut butter and we'll have the LP lentil bake for dinner.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 24/04/2022 18:02

Evening all, you've inspired me to try this so thought I should pop in and say hello.

Day 1 today. I've been looking to overhall my eating habits and exercise etc from a mental health perspective. Seem to have fairly constant low level anxiety and poor energy levels and sitting on my arse all day eating sweets won't be helping.

That said would feel a lot better with a stone off too - but trying not to think about that too much because it makes me worry that I'll fail/won't stick it again.

TheWreathLady · 24/04/2022 18:09

Sorry I haven’t been contributing over the last few weeks- I’m still plodding on with the plan and back in the circle after the inevitable Easter/family birthday/school hols temptations! I’m prepping for next week and just wanted to share a recommendation for the delicious egg muffins (souffles) which I have as snacks. They’re so nice. Been making these off and on for a while now as there is an identical Joe Wicks recipe in his family and friends book. I’m also trying out the carrot and lentil soup for lunches. I’d also recommend the lentil dhal for a hot work lunch. Really filling. Anyway, hope you all have a fab and focused week! 😊

Welcome all the newbies and fingers crossed for that 1 stone off tomorrow @HardRockOwl

Today's menu:

B: oat bran porridge with strawberries and pecans (lovely)

S: oatcakes with PNB and 1/4 banana

L: disastrous attempt at her pancakes Sad

S: slice toasted sourdough as so hungry from the disastrous pancake

D: aubergine "lasagne" again

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 24/04/2022 18:14

@TheWreathLady

Please could you share that recipe? Do you have them hot or cold? As a meal or a snack?

PrincessRamone · 24/04/2022 18:23

I did well on day 1. Day 2 I did well until … DH brought me a cup of tea with an empire biscuit 😐

TheWreathLady · 24/04/2022 18:35

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy
Here’s the recipe - I don’t do the egg whites and yolks separately, just whisk it all together. Hope you can read it ok. The Joe Wicks versions suggests including cooked chorizo, grated courgette, spinach, grated mozzarella but really you can just use any veg/protein you’ve got handy.

Sorry, I forgot to say I have one cold as a snack. But I’m sure two with some salad would make a good lunch!

Throwawaytoday · 24/04/2022 19:05

Dinner today, LP lentil bake. This time I didn't bastardise the recipe except to put the chilli in the salsa rather than the lentils, to make it acceptable to (feeble) DD(5).

I’ve been and shopped today. It’s going to be a challenge to cook and prep as I’ve no kitchen at the mo. But I’m doing what I can.
last time I was on this plan I was a regular gym
go er, so I didn’t follow the exercise plan.
this time I want to give them a go.
has anyone been doing them? I’d appreciate any tips or advice

PrincessCarolyn · 24/04/2022 19:45

@Grytviken Once in the Lifestyle phase Louise says to apply the 3 day rule for celebrations - ie after three days out of the circle you step back in no matter what. So it sounds like you are doing exactly the right thing.
@Daffodillove For nibbles, I think one of the snacks is chunks of melon (or may be another fruit, not sure if I've remembered correctly) wrapped in proscuitto. That might work, with cocktail sticks?
@Sutra Don't tell Louise but I'm not giving up honey! Nor am I buying low fat yoghurt as I don't like it. However, I take her point that honey is sugary and calorific so won't be using much. Her guideline for snacks is that they should be around 200 calories max so I'll stick to that. I will give the stevia a try for e.g. the pancake recipes.
Weighed in today and my start weight is 179 lbs, that is 12 stone 11 lbs. Not the heaviest I've ever been, but it's not far off. Not sure what my ultimate target should be so I'll aim for 5lbs at a time.

HardRockOwl · 24/04/2022 20:45

@TheMildManneredMilitant welcome to the thread! And if I can do a month, anyone can! You honestly can't really fail from a hunter point of view because you're literally only ever a couple of hours away from a meal or snack

@PrincessCarolyn Ha! I’m with you on the low fat yogurt! Bleurch! I have full fat Yeo Valley and am not going to change that.
It tastes different to usual (ie with a few teaspoons of sugar) but it’s not unpleasant. I read some very interesting stuff by Tim Spector about artificial sweeteners (whether “natural” or not!) and they do not help with weight loss. Your brain gets primed for sweetness, you have a bigger insulin response when you do have sugar, they affect your gut flora negatively and overall I’m just not sure they’re the right thing for me.

Food today:
B unsweetened yogurt and raspberries with some almonds
S PB on 2 oatcakes
L a roast dinner with just protein (Quorn) and an enormous pile of 4 different vegetables
S apple and babybel
T went a bit wrong with 2 slices of toast and more PB but life happens sometimes doesn’t it?!

HardRockOwl · 24/04/2022 22:05

Very tired today so food wasn't brilliant - didn't eat nearly enough as just didn't have the time.

Dinner was salad leaves, tomato, cucumber and balsamic vinegar with marinated tofu - was the very epitome of delicate!! Ate it stood up ( was kitten sitting this evening - don't ask!! Needed eyes in the back of my head)

And I was so disappointed with my lunch. A horrible bean salad from m and s .. just no. Managed a few mouthfuls and that was that.

I'd better be a bloody water thin mint by tomorrow morning that's all I'm saying!

HardRockOwl · 24/04/2022 22:07

I think I'd agree re the sugar substitutes. I have used it a bit and it does help with the taste of fat free greek but I'm not particularly comfortable with it so I'll continue with full fat Greek yogurt or I'll add a little chocolate protein powder in instead - you don't need much at all.

On the subject of healthy eating generally, my DP had a phone conference with his GP this week to let him know that he had elevated cholesterol & his blood sugar was just within diabetic range. He was in shock - me not so much as, except for what I feed him, his diet is high in refined sugar, low in fibre & he doesn’t get enough exercise. We then had a message re a friend ( not even 60) having died due to a cerebral hemmorage. (Sp?). So a serious talk was had.
LP diet perfect for this - v high fibre & food such as oat bran excellent in reducing cholesterol. I really don’t like playing Mummy with DP & nagging, but I feel I must! I don’t want to lose him to cardiovascular disease! This should be a wake up call, but I think getting sugar out of his diet will be challenging. He thinks granola bars are healthy😱but I had to disabuse him of that notion.
My challenging week starts, but I hope with preparation to win. A big batch of leek-broccoli-butter bean soup has been prepared & I am soaking chickpeas now for the LP tabbouleh with halloumi.
Here’s to a good week for all & a warm welcome to the new starters -enjoy!

Sutra · 25/04/2022 06:58

@Moanranger I’m sorry for the loss of your friend, that must be such a shock.
💐

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 25/04/2022 07:48

Sorry about your friend @Moanranger and in a way It's good that your DP had those results now as a warning as it'll give him a scale to measure his progress by.

Plan today:

B: Greek yogurt, seeds, nuts, blueberries

S: Babybel and black grapes

L: deli platter - but in a Tupperware box :)

S: whole meal thin with hummus & pomegranate seeds

D: Lucy's lithe lamb kebabs which are marinating as I type

I really do enjoy the food in this WOE, I feel more healthy and energetic, and I like the fact that it feels very balanced, unlike keto which I did a few years ago which just felt wrong IYKWIM- so much fatty food and no carbs at all, not even oats

chloechloe · 25/04/2022 12:18

Hello everyone! Mind if I join you all?

I’ve tried this a couple of times before but never managed more than a couple of weeks.

I’ve come to the realisation that I’m at an age where the weight is starting to creep on. I have summer shorts which I can no longer get into and I’m starting to look decidedly doughy round the middle!

So LPM it is, starting today!

I actually like the way of eating and it makes me feel so much better. But I find it hard to stick to when having to cook for 3 small kids who seem to need white carbs with every meal and don’t eat much veg beyond tomatoes and cucumbers!

Thanks for the recipe for the egg muffins - they look handy as a quick lunch with salad or a snack.

HardRockOwl · 25/04/2022 13:20

Start of week 4 for me today and it was my 4th weigh in - was delighted to hit my first stone 😁

Week 1 - 7lbs

Week 2 - 3lbs

Week 3 - 2lbs

Week 4 - 2lbs

Total so far - 14lbs

Of course, I don't look like I've lost a stone 🤔 But I'm hopeful for some sort of change by the end of the first 6 week programme. I'd like to have lost 21lbs in total by end of the 6 weeks but this could be a tall order!

I do feel better though - no heartburn whatsoever now (I'd given myself heartburn ❤️‍🔥- eating too many sweets, cakes and kettle chips etc. and all I ate was junk food really. No snoring either! This was a relatively new thing and was happening a lot so I was reliably informed - and sometimes I'd even wake myself up doing it ffs. Again, down to my diet .. you d think nothing of eating a packet of those nice Squashies just before bed!

Oh and I had some weird fat bulge under my boobs and above my tummy - and that's gone.

So all in all, I must stay focussed as this is another danger point for me .. feeling all smug and then going mental food wise

Anyway - food so far today ..

Smoothie made with oat bran, almond milk, frozen berries, chia seeds, a little protein powder and 0% total yogurt.

1/2 banana with mixed nuts

Seeded roll with hummus, salad leaves, edamame beans, tomato + plant kitchen bacon

Snack will be pink lady apple with peanut butter and I think I'll have roasted veg with feta for dinner or I'll marinate some tofu and have with veg.

@chloechloe welcome to the thread!

I can imagine that it's hard work with 3 little ones. I've said it before but I'm lucky in that I cook separately for myself and no one in my family has ever batted an eyelid as it's what I've always done so this makes it easier for me to focus on myself a bit. I cook for them of course! Proper meals etc and for me, I just eat when I fancy it.

How did you get in last time you tried it? You were feeling better after the two weeks you did?
