But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

Thanks too @NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy 🙂

Intothecircle · 23/04/2022 12:16

Thanks @HardRockOwl and yes I admit I nearly didn’t post the amount as appreciate it doesn’t seem much but it’s impossible to lose now and makes me feel just awful but theoretical should be a lot easier than others.
I’ll try your suggestion with the add on .. watch this space thank you

Sutra · 23/04/2022 15:23

Hi all

Food today:

No breakfast as I just didn’t feel hungry

Lunch was an omelette with red onion, mushrooms, green chilli, and a pepper with some cheese melted on the top and some stir fried Savoy cabbage. It was yummy.

Snack: apple and cheese

Tea I think will be roasted veg and some feta or something for protein. I’ll have to have a look to see what’s in the fridge!

HardRockOwl · 23/04/2022 16:10

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy that's an amazing loss - you just be delighted! Well done

Hi all, sorry I've been absent for a few days, nice to see it's a busy and positive thread still. I can't quite remember when we started (about 3 weeks ago maybe?) but I've lost about 6lb now. Had a couple of awful binge days a week or so ago but that's got better. I've found if I make myself a hot chocolate (cocoa powder and stevia naturally!) when the evening cravings start to kick in it really helps. Made the black pepper stir fry yesterday, tasted great, so much colourful veg, I did adapt it slightly though as I can't afford a recipe that asks for 600g of king prawns, decided that must be a typo and chucked in 200g lol. Been doing lots of walking and mixing up my exercise with a run or a short HIT app as always, whatever feels good that day really.

HardRockOwl · 23/04/2022 16:15

Food times for today so far ..

Porridge with strawberries + kiwi and a little Greek yogurt plus a couple of crushed walnuts

2 x light babybels and some black grapes

Low carb wrap filled with marinated tofu, hummus, salad + tomatoes

Not sure yet about second snack and dinner - this is where I start to run out of steam!

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 23/04/2022 16:20

@ElvenDreamer that sounds like it's going in the right direction! And yep we've been trundling on now for just a touch over 3 weeks.

I also sometimes have a hot chocolate if I'm feeling peckish. Just use green + blacks cocoa powder with oat milk and stevia and it's surprisingly nice. Would be nicer with cream, marshmallows and chocolate sauce but I'm bit swelling on that 😅

OP posts:
ElvenDreamer · 23/04/2022 16:30

@HardRockOwl it's the green and blacks I have! I normally make it with mostly water and top up with milk, may have to give oat milk a go though.

HardRockOwl · 23/04/2022 17:50

Had my second snack .. smoothie comprising of ..

Almond milk
Small banana
Oat bran
Blueberries
Little bit of protein powder
0% fat free greek yogurt

Was very nice and filling so now I'm at my usual point of not fancying anything for dinner. There truly is a limit to how much veg I want in a day. Don't have an issue with, say, pizza or chips - could quite easily that with no limits

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 23/04/2022 18:23

Couldn't face dinner - no idea why. Didn't fancy anything

So I've had a naval orange and 2 tablespoons of mixed nuts

OP thank you so much for starting this thread, it's exactly what I was looking for. I felt so bloated after spending the last few weeks stuffing chocolate that I got to the point where I went off it - didn't even want to finish my Easter egg.
So I decided to seize the opportunity and make an effort to lose weight. Have lost weight calorie counting pre pandemic but I'm looking for something where I don't have to log every meal. Had never heard of LP but have now bought two of the books on Kindle and I think her Method could work for me.
This coming week will be prep week so I'll try some of the recipes and also the digital detox - most reluctant to do this but after watching Netflix into the early hours last night, getting hungry again, scoffing snacks and oversleeping, I have to concede that something has to change.
For exercise I do ballet classes, plus Lucy Wyndham Read on YT. The amount recommended seems to vary from book to book but I think 15 mins daily would work better for me than longer workouts which will probably end up not happening.

HardRockOwl · 23/04/2022 20:18

@PrincessCarolyn Welcome! Hope you see some good results. Regarding the exercise, my eyes just glaze straight past all that! I swim between 5 -6 times a week, nothing too energetic but I aim for 500 calories burned or 1000 metres, whatever comes first! It works for me anyway and I just know I won't be motivated to do stuff I just don't want to do.

Do try and get hold of a physical copy of the book if you can. I tried on the kindle initially and it just didn't have the same effect. I'm not saying they'll be the same for you, just a possible suggestion as it's nice with all the pics etc

PrincessCarolyn · 23/04/2022 21:09

Thank you @HardRockOwl ! I am reading the books on the Kindle app on my tablet so can see the pictures and it's easy to search for recipes. However would like hard copies as well so I'll look around.
Yes it's important to do exercise you enjoy. I do beginner's ballet currently and am hoping to add in an intermediate class at the same studio when I'm ready - have tried but it's slightly too advanced for me as yet.

Daffodillove · 23/04/2022 21:47

Hi everyone

Welcome @PrincessCarolyn and well done on your loss @ElvenDreamer!

I’m feeling pleased with myself as had an afternoon at friends with loads of drinks and snacks and I managed to avoid them all! Just had my low cal Fevertree tonic which I had taken with me. I would recommend the rhubarb and raspberry for a nice drink with hardly any calories!

Made the Greek salad frittata today which was lovely and I now have lunch pre made for the next three days so that’s a win!

I’d love your thoughts on how you’d do evening drinks/ nibbles whilst staying on plan? Have an old friend visiting on Monday evening and don’t really want to deviate from the plan but equally need to be a good host! Wondering about doing a platter of nibbles but only eating the olives?

Any ideas please, wise LP devotees?

HardRockOwl · 23/04/2022 22:21

@Daffodillove I think I'd do the usual nibbles but add in (more for yourself) olives, little cubes of feta, you could make your own tortilla chips, hummus, plain mixed nuts, oat cakes, nut butters, babybels, grapes ..

Actually that's more like a full on party 😜

Morning all, and welcome to the new LP'ers!

I've had a sneaky weigh in today, official weigh in day is a Monday, and I've lost 4.6 pounds, I'm really happy with that given I had one awful evening of snacking, so feeling quite motivated for the week ahead, which is good as it's a tricky one! It's my birthday on Saturday and I made lots of plans weeks ago all involving food, and eating out and then because of the bank holiday we've also been invited to a party on Sunday which will be very boozy with lots of lovely foodConfused I've got Friday dinner, lunch and dinner on Saturday. Old me would take the attitude that as I'd be off plan Fri, Sat, Sun there would be no point being on plan for the mon-thurs, new me is going to very strictly be in the circle until Friday and then straight back in bank holiday Monday, and trying not to go too nuts on the out of the circle days. Wish me luck!

DogElephantTigerShark · 24/04/2022 08:34

Hi! Just popped on Mumsnet and was so excited to see this thread! Am starting LP method tomorrow and feeling both excited but also nervous. I have done this before and found I quickly felt and looked so much better, looking forward to getting that feeling again :)

Onelifeonly22 · 24/04/2022 08:51

So pleased to see this thread! I have put on 8lbs since last summer (I’m small so it is very visible!) which I want to lose. I have the LP books and even joined a group programme in the past but got ill with long covid so had to stop. My main problem is binging and snacking so I’m going to do LP but also use the principles in Gillian Riley’s Eating Less (remembering it is my choice, using time and plans). I will read both books again today.

Onelifeonly22 · 24/04/2022 08:52

Ps. Well done on everyone’s results so far!

Sutra · 24/04/2022 09:23

I hope it’s a beautifully sunny morning for everyone today - I’ve just been out for a lovely long walk with the dog, more than half way to my 10k steps already, and the sun is gorgeous.

I'm just about to tuck into my yogurt and berries - does anyone else just not bother with the Stevia that Louise recommends? I haven’t tried it, so I might be missing out, but whilst I find yogurt a little tart without sugar, I’d rather just do without than have something artificial. I’d be interested in other people’s opinions on this.

Throwawaytoday · 24/04/2022 10:47

Hi all, I read this threat a week or so ago, bought the most recent LP book, and have just started today (after a week holiday, a city break in Spain, so lots of amazing (but not entirely healthy) food, but equally walking 20,000 steps a day).

I've got about 4st to lose (almost all put on since 2020). Hopefully it'll be easy to shift as it's new fat (zero science in that statement)...my main ambitions are to be able to choose clothes I want to wear, rather than one that make me look less like I've put on 4st, and to get rid of chub rub this summer (I know that being 2st lighter will achieve that).

For breakfast I had a smoothie of my own invention (but taking inspiration from the book): skimmed milk, Greek yogurt, half banana, oatbran, tiny bit of honey.

For my first snack I'll have Apple and peanut butter (local Planet Organic shop handed me 5 X 25ml sample pots of peanut butter) useful for this purpose).

Throwawaytoday · 24/04/2022 10:48

Thread... Not threat

But the threat of summertime chub rub is real!

Moanranger · 24/04/2022 11:48

Sutra I think stevia is only for when someone finds a particular food too tart. So if someone cannot eat unsweetened yogurt & fruit, they could add a bit of stevia, likewise for coffee & tea.
I personally don’t use it much.

Onelifeonly22 · 24/04/2022 12:20

I hate the taste of stevia so don’t have it - but I’m also not keen on the 0% yoghurt if eating it straight so get the Fage 2.5% or 5%.

ElvenDreamer · 24/04/2022 13:17

Hi all, 'All the Ps' smoothie for breakfast for me today, snack of a handful of almonds and a couple of oatcakes. Lunch was sea bass with Mediterranean vegetables, I have a beetroot and goats cheese salad waiting in the fridge for my tea.
Glorious day here too today, started my day with a 4k run which was lovely.
