VVV, have often 'cheated'! I always , always made my lasagne completely from scratch including panicking over the bechamel (cos it was a devil to keep unlumpy) until the night I made lasagne in a major hurry and had to resort to dolmio. Mum, Dad and dh didn't know I had used jars and swore it was the best lasagne I had ever made! I was so annoyed! Don't know if it means dolmio is really really fab or if my lasagne is just really really crap!

Silk -

Moodlum, good point! I wonder if wine used for cooking with the alcohol steamed off is the same points as wine for drinking. I would imagine it should be less eh? Fairly minimal though I guess. Clutching desperately at straws here!

Shizaru · 07/02/2008 00:30

Thanks SC. The specimen I took up for DH was awful. Really bloody and had clots in it. I realise that may be TMI for some of you, but, honestly - I was myself! I cant see how this is your common or garden water infection. I'm a bit worried if the truth be known but I'm trying to play it down here. DH is very much a natural worrier, but, he is fine as long as he sees me being positive iykwim? The moment i dont reassure him, or look worried then he really panics.

Re the cooking of wine - if the alcohol is burned off, surely what's left is pretty much grape juice, yes? All fruit juice has a points level anyway, so I'm guessing it has some rather than no points.

Ags · 07/02/2008 00:56

Sorry VVV. Sounds really awful. Is he in pain with it? Infections can be so sore. Have you any idea how long the results will take? Awful to be worried and waiting. I know what you mean about reassurance - dh is just the same. Thankfully, normally the worst he gets is manflu and it is pretty easy not to look worried when he has that especially because I am usually just looking pissed off!

loler · 07/02/2008 10:15

AHHHHHHH - make me stop eatting!

Had a rubbish night - ds1 uptil 1am being sick. Me up much later sorting out washing (can't stand waking up to sicky bedding!). DS2 awake from 4.30am - must really get around to weaning him! Anyway - that connection between sleep and eating must be true as keep walking to the fridge and finding myself with food in my mouth. Found half a bounty that just needed to be eaten and I can hear another bar calling to me!

Hope the sample just turns out to be an infection. A little bit of blood in liquid always looks more than it is. But fingers crossed for you.

Ags · 07/02/2008 10:31

Loler, that sounds hideous. It is awful when you are tired, there is no doubt that I have a hollow stomach when I have had a bad night. And it is that telepathic food again that gets into your head and won't stop calling and calling and calling! I presume you have no chance for a nap? Have you got something filling but not hideously bad you can have? That might satisfy you for a while. What about Egg on toast or something? If not, the best you can do is write off today trying to do as little damage as possible and start back tomorrow. Hope ds1 is feeling better.

Shizaru · 07/02/2008 10:47

Loler - stick a glass of water on the kitchen worktop, in the fridge at the front, and in front of wherever you are most of the day. Vom bugs are awful with littluns arent they?

Ags, he's been in a great deal of pain with it. The sample was dark orange/red and had a lump in it the size of a pea (hopes this'll put loler of eating at the same time ). Mind you, he's said this morning after starting trimethoprim yesterday that he feels tonnes better and hasnt had pain yet this morning.

He's got to go back to the docs in 10 days time, unless the doc rings in between times with the results........

Good morning this morning - an apple and an orange for breakfast. I am drinking a huge glass of water too. My cold has almost gone too. Yay! Will only have a cuppa soup for lunch because we are going out for chinese for my brothers birthday and for chinese new year.

Remind me what is best to go for again...please?

mammyjo · 07/02/2008 10:48

Moodlum, hope you can sort out the bullies in dd's nursery. Seems awful that such small children can be so horrible to each other

Loler, hope tonight is better for you. Agree, write off today and start afresh tomorrow. Being up in the middle of the night is just vile.

VVV, hope your dh gets things sorted soon. How are you feeling today?

I am going to make some parsnip soup today, recipe in the kickstart book or one of the WW leaflets I think. I also bought those lite haribo sweets, work out at 2.5 points for half a bag but they are not that nice. Better off with the real thing I think.

mammyjo · 07/02/2008 10:49

X posted with you! Glad both you and dh are a little better today. Trimethoprim is good stuff!!

Ags · 07/02/2008 11:35

VVV here is the info from the eating out guide.

Special Chow Mein 7.5
Sweet and Sour Chicken (balls or Peking) 10

Egg Fried Rice 10
Mixed Veg in Oyster Sauce 4.5

Mammyjo, the parsnip soup is delicious. The leader brought some in a flask and gave everyone a taste. Really yum.

I have a few days of socialising ahead which is always a bit tricky. Tonight there is a boozey gathering at a friend's house. Have allocated 8 points for wine, ie. a bottle! Should be enough but I'm not making any promises!

Tomorrow night am going with 5 friends for a table quiz. Supper is provided so will have to be careful but I have volunteered to drive so that I won't drink. And on Saturday we are having 2 couples round for dinner and dh is cooking. Normally, he is fairly accommodating but when he is show casing his cooking skills for others, there will be no thought to calorie control. I will have to be careful again.

Shizaru · 07/02/2008 12:09

Thanks Ags, adn thanks mammyjo

Ags · 07/02/2008 20:01

Hope everyone had a good day. Hope the first day back went well for you Silk!

silkcushion · 07/02/2008 21:39

hello - one very tired mummy here

dd woke at 4.30 this morning (bloody typical as I had to go to work). Then the alarm didn't go off so we all overslept. No time for brekkie - knew it was potentially going to go very very wrong. Was starving when the scrummy lunch arrived.

Ate :-
6 cocktail sausages
2 chicken satay skewers
4 sandwiches prawn, tuna and egg all amde with thick cut wholemeal bread
2 handfuls crisps
a fondant fancy (haven't had those in years)
slice of melon
bunch of grapes

I reckon that lot came to over 25 points!!!!!

Had spinach and potato soup with a pitta for tea, floolwed y half a packet of dh's prawn crackers from his chinese takeaway and ww ginger and lemon biscuits,

Suffice to say I think I've tumbled head first off the wagon today.

Never mind I've got 3 days to salvage it and shall have to do some serious exercise to claw it all back!

Hope yr all doing better than me (especially yr dh VVV)

chocolatespiders · 07/02/2008 21:40

Hi everyone...

sorry not been on much

good news though lost 4lbs this week... after losing nothing last week so i am so pleased

silkcushion · 07/02/2008 21:40

@ typos. Even I couldn't work out what floolwed meant - followed I think

silkcushion · 07/02/2008 21:41

ooh Choc x posts Well Done

moodlumthehoodlum · 07/02/2008 22:11

hi all - well done on your first day back sc - and don't worry I would have feasted on a work lunch like that.

VVV - sorry about your dh. Scary. Fingers crossed its something mundane and manageable.

Not a great day for dd. She's happier but still not sleeping (I think this is deffo because of the teasing) so busy night last night. Found out more about what these horrid children have been doing/saying and am . Makes me so sad.

Bad lunch (Coronation chicken baguette with lashings of mayo), so no supper. Snack a Jacks and 2 x Mr Kipling light bakewell tarts (don't bother not worth the three points) and a glass of wine. Not exactly nutritious! Going to bed now before I chew my arm off!

Well done everyone.

chocolatespiders · 08/02/2008 12:06

whats everyone having for lunch

i am having an open sandwich of cheese and piled high with salad.... eating it with knife and fork to make it last longer...

I have got to do this i want to be 3 stone slimmer but it is flippin hard.....

mammyjo · 08/02/2008 12:44

Oh moodlum, your poor little dd. Awful that it is now affecting her sleep. Have the nursery teachers said they are doing anything to stop it happening to her. I find it astounding that children so young should have to be putting up with this. Ds is 4 and we had a phase where he was being called fat by some others in his class. It was so upsetting for him (and me as I felt helpless). I spoke to the teacher and it seems to have settled down now. He is not fat either, just bigger than some in his class so he was the one to get singled out Really hope you can sort things out for her soon.

Silk, made me smile when I read of your lunch yesterday as I would probably have been the same. On paper I say I will make healthy choices but the reality is very different isnt it!! Good luck with clawing it back!

VVV, hope you and dh are feeling better again today

And well done choc, 4lbs is fantastic

mammyjo · 08/02/2008 12:45

Not having lunch yet choc as am not hungry I havent eaten that much either. I bought some of those lovely fresh falafels, but just dont fancy them now!

mammyjo · 08/02/2008 12:47

Oh, and I bought some of the go ahead cereal bars. They were on offer in tesco's. I got the hazelnut and pistachio ones and they are dipped in chocolate. Work out at 2 points each and are delicious!

moodlumthehoodlum · 08/02/2008 14:02

AAAHHH DH is losing weight faster than me and is VERY pleased with himself. He's lost 4lbs in the last week. I must try harder!

Mammyjo - thank you for your kind words. DD had a good morning this morning. We have had many talks with her nursery teacher who has been brilliant, and just when we were about to take her out of nursery they have taken the problem in hand and are dealing with it. These boys have been awful though, teasing her about her exczema on her face, so its all I can do not to take their mothers aside. Fingers crossed that the problem is sorted.

I had a mini pitta with light soft cheese and smoked mackerel for lunch. Not enough, still hungry, but points a plenty.

chocolatespiders · 08/02/2008 14:27

glad it is being sorted,,,,kids can be so cruel....

dd 4 started this year and she only knew one girls from nursery in her class... on first day took dd to sit near her friend and another boy came over to my dd and said dont sit next to that girl she has got horrid curly hair

i couldnt believe what i heard....i was so sad to hear this and most of what still goes on ... classes are to big for the teacher to watch them all properley imo!!!!

those go ahead bars sound nice do you get quite a bit for the points value? i am a quantity girl not quality!!!!

oh no cant have them as giving up choc for lent

Eddas · 08/02/2008 14:46

hi everyone. not been able to catch up i'm affraid, although I have read the last few posts and am that your poor dd is being teased at such a young age mood. Hope things are getting sorted and that your dd is ok

Am feeling very very pathetic today, food wise that is. As I keep blathering on about, I do suffer from chocolate cravings, a lot. I feel so pathetic, I keep whiging on about wanting it all the time. It's ridiculous. It's not like i'm addicted to drugs or anything, i need a big slap and to be told not to be so stupid. I have to admit i've not been as good as usual over the last 2 days. Nothing too bad. Yesterday afternoon I had some of those ready made pancakes with syrup on and then after dinner had a chocolate pudding(low fat one) and custard(low fat) and today I have had 2 squares of a dairy milk bar. so really that's not too bad, Is it?

I also don't seem to be bothered with anything. I just want to sit on my arse. Nothing unusal there I guess. DD is really winding me up without actually doing anything. I just want everyone to leave me alone.

Am hoping all this is to do with af being here

anyway please ignore me, i'll go away until I'm not such a mardy mare.

Ags · 08/02/2008 14:59

Eddas, SLAAAAAP and don't be so stupid! Now, do you feel better? No? Thought not!

Don't go away, stay and moan that is what this thread is all about. And if you've got AF, no wonder you are feeling a bit !

Sounds like you are doing ok. Chocolate is such a killer isn't it. I know I am obsessed but do you like Crunchies? I like them because they take a long time to eat (well, relatively!). And on ww they are only 3.5 points. I try to factor one in most days and it does help.
