OK, this weight watcher's bread ... 1/2 a point per slice it says on the packet - but 2 slices works out to 1.5 points. So when making a sandwich, do i count as two 1/2 point portions of bread, or one portion of bread, 2 slices, at 1.5 points?

silkcushion · 03/02/2008 11:26

Think you have to go for 1.5 pts. Lots of foods are like that. The ww biscuits work the other way around though. 1.5 each but 2.5 for 2 - so you may as well eat 2

colditz · 03/02/2008 12:03

Damn. Damn it all.

Eddas · 03/02/2008 12:19

I can't understand why they tell you the fat content of frozen food and the cotent once it's cooked I guess there are some weirdos that eat things raw

I don't think i'll see a loss tomorrow because af is just around the corner! Ah well at least i'll know why if it's not a loss. Maybe that'll mean a better one in a week Because of AF I am really really craving chocolate atm. I mean I always crave it but this is silly! Maybe I could give in on second thoughts if I give in i'll probably eat loads hot chocolate it is

mammyjo · 03/02/2008 19:34

Well done to all the losers! I have not had a very good week here so am not pinning too many hopes on my weigh in tomorrow evening. Hoping I can get back with the plan, as it is normally at this point that I fall off the wagon and dont get back on.

I have seen a falafel recipe in this months good food magazine. Looks nice so am going to try it tomorrow. Will let you know what they are like and could post the recipe if anyone is interested, since there are several falafel fans on here!

silkcushion · 03/02/2008 20:51

MammyJo don't give up now - this is the crappy time - the intial big weight losses slow down and the enthusiasm wains but please don't give up!!!

I am dreading tomorrow's weigh in cos I've done another sneaky one and it looks like 1/2 lb which will really p*ss me off
I wanted a 3lb loss so I could have got rid of a stone. Clothes feeling a fraction less tight. Like MammyJo I am losing motivation but I think we all need to reaffirm why we are doing this.

1 - don't want my little girl to learn crappy food associations from me. My mum is always dieting or stuffing herself - my brothers and I are all greedy sods like her.

2 - don't want to be too fat to enjoy doing things with her ie swimming, running about

3 - want to try for a 2nd dc at the end of the year. Got pg at my heaviest ever last feb and was over 19st when I got to 40 weeks - no wonder I had blood pressure problems during pregnancy - can't be healthy

4 - want to feel sexy again

Eddas · 03/02/2008 21:00

you can't give up mj. You're doing really well, every diet will lead to some bad days of eating. Just try not to let the food win

SC, like the list it's similar to mine! Everytime I crave chocolate I keep thinking, 'it's only me who'll suffer', 'if you want to lose weight leave it alone' 'you don't need it' I am having a serious mental battle with myself I feel like such an arse I am winning atm!

Had hot chocolate earlier in the hope of dulling the craving. Was so with myself as being a stupid bint I tried drinking straight after making it and burnt my tongue so there's me standing at the kitchen sink. Tongue out. lapping water from the tap to ease the pain WHAT AN IDIOT Took my mind of chocolate though

Seriously could I mention the 'c' word anymore I am obsessed

PerkinWarbeck · 03/02/2008 21:06

oh, mammyjo, don't give up.

I have had 2 shite weeks out of 4, but I figure that this weightloss business is a longterm thing. we'll all have our ups and downs as the weeks progress - you and I are just more sensible in that we're got ours out of the way early on .

fiddle-di-dee. tomorrow is another day .

Ags · 03/02/2008 23:23

Mammyjo, want to add my encouragement. This is a tricky time in any habit changing regime as it is now becoming 'normal'. Keep going and keep posting.

Lots of friends with older children (around 6/7 years old) are dealing at the moment with the impact of healthy nutrition being taught at school. One little girl is now refusing sugar on her porridge or weetabix and is coming back from parties saying "Mummy, I'm starving, there was nothing healthy to eat so I didn't eat anything!". And another little girl keeps asking if chocolate or any other treat she is offered will make her fat and refusing if she thinks it will! While, I am all for teaching good nutrition and healthy eating at school, it concerns me a little that these girls seem so worried (these are children, by the way, with absolutely no weight problems at all). But it also horrifies me when I think of my ds or dd getting to that stage and learning about those things and then coming back to enormous Mummy! It is keeping me very focussed on my points!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 04/02/2008 00:35

Oh dear god. A little bit of chocolate or party food isnt going to hurt them! It's good they are being taught about healthy food, but it sounds like they arent being taught to have a healthy attitude towards eating.

Party food is fine as long as you dont have party food every day.

I've had an odd day. I had two slices of toast and jam for brunch. Then went to SILS for dinner who makes fabulous food. Had pasta and tomato sauce, 3 slices of bread, an aubergine type lasagne thing, some salad, and some cake. I think I may well have gone over my points allowance, but, I'm going to stick to the cuppa soups for lunch this week anyway which are only 0.5 to 1 point each. (Couldnt afford the falafel this week).

The sort of good thing about eating loads at SILs was that something I ate gave me a migraine which has finally eased off in the last hour and I can speak again....

I was also impressed with my refusal of sweet drinks and chocolate

Right, off to calculate my points properly.

PerkinWarbeck · 04/02/2008 08:04

not sure if I've copied the most up to date list, but feel free to correct me.

I've lost 2lb this week! thank-you all for helping me to get back on track.

I've had 2 weeks where I've lost 2lb, and 2 where I haven't lost. But that's still 4lb in 4 weeks. Which, if I keep things up, would be well over a stone and a half by the time I go on holiday!

My scales have gone faulty - Lost an amazing 4lb. I'm putting it down to buying some earth shoes (they were half price with free p&p!). They are meant to make you burn more calories - not sure if it works but have been on lots of walks in the last week to see if I can feel it!

Had a V bad weekend - ate out a pub and had fish & chips and then just had to have the chocolate brownie. Needed the food as my mum came to stay so me and dh went to the pub for the first time since having ds2 so had a hang over! Have abandoned the points for that day - today is a new week and all that!

x-posts loler, fab loss well done

This is the up-to-date list for everyone to copy and paste

silkcushion · 04/02/2008 08:39

Well done everyone on your losses this morning. I'm very impressed, we all seem to still have good attitudes.

As for myself, as I expected I have lost one pound. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed. However, this is the reality of losing weight and this sort of loss is more sustainable. Also I am really a stone lighter after three weeks.

silkcushion · 04/02/2008 08:40

I meant nearly not really a stone lighter.

mammyjo · 04/02/2008 09:44

Nearly a stone in three weeks is brilliant!

Thanks for all the encouragement ladies. Agree totally with not wanting to pass my crap relationship with food on to the children. And I also dont want my children to end up as overweight as me, and have to struggle with a weight problem for their whole adult life.

I have given myself a talking to and am back with my point counting today!! Well done to all the losers this morning. I have my class this evening so we will see. Wont hold my breath, but any loss will be positive after the week I have had!

Well done all!!

Ive lost 2lbs this week so my total is 5lbs this month. Pretty pleased with that as i have worked out that every 5 days i crack and have a little "blow out" !! Aiming for the half a stone next week.

My dd is trying to lose weight too and has lost 3lbs this week - so you can add 'miniUC' too if you like to the totals!!!

CayKon · 04/02/2008 11:34

I can't believe it. I'm wearing size 12 jeans today. Am so excited!!!

Caykon - can you give me a typical food intake and what exercise you do please? Is it WW and if so how many points do you have?
