It is easy to say not to buy things though, another thing to resist when you actually go shopping!! I make a list nowadays and only buy what is on it, stops me veering into tempting aisles

SannaG · 31/01/2008 19:02

Ok I really need this thread. I have 2 1/2 stone to lose Problem is I love food, any food, all food! I put on 5 stone with my first child and lost it by walking everywhere and following tesco ediets once he started on solids. My ds2 only 12 weeks old and I would be happy to follow it again but what are the rules when breastfeeding? It is pretty much a calorie controlled diet, does anyone know how many I should be eating in order for me to lose weight and give him plenty? I know it hasn't been long but I have a posh evening out in a few weeks and all the women are so slim, really doesn't do my confidence much good

Ags · 31/01/2008 19:38

Hi everyone. What fantastic posts from everyone. I really look forward to coming on here every day to check how you are all doing. I have got some seriously skinny rl friends who are great and encouraging but I know when they look at me they just can't understand why it is all so hard. And also, I have tried to lose weight so many times on so many different diets that I don't blame them at all for losing a bit of enthusiasm. So this time, I have only told 2 very close friends and my family. Finding it a bit hard to come up with a suitable answer now that people are commenting that I look as if I have lost weight. Delighted, however that it is being noticed.

Eddas, I feel exactly the same too. Substitute chocolate with 'anything that hasn't got a pulse'! It is a mental thing and mental!

Pelafina, I think there are points people and core people. It sounds like core is not your thing but maybe you need to pre-plan your days intake in advance and really make a conscious effore to eat only what you have listed. Definately leave room for jaffa cakes if you want them but not too much room. Also, beware the bulk buy! I adore crunchies and they are only 3.5 points but I have to buy them individually as the risk of stuffing two is far too great. Stay with us!

Ags · 31/01/2008 19:42

No Pelafina not at all a whingey bitch. You are doing really well but your expectations might be a bit too high. Your points do not have to be used on healthy foods, you could have 10 crunchies if you liked! YUUUUM! But ww does encourage you to eat 5 fruit or veg and drink lots of water each day. You definatly have to use some food knowledge in order to ensure you are nutritionally sound in your diet. And with a 14 week old, you are being quite hard on yourself. 5 lbs is a fantastic loss and if you can find the eating plan that suits you, it will soon be 10 lbs!

mammyjo · 31/01/2008 19:54

Ags, I know what you mean. People who have never had a weight problem just dont understand it. I would love to just not overeat anymore but it is not that simple. That is why this thread is so great, everyone in the same boat supporting each other

Welcome Sanna I dont know anything about the tesco e diets, but I do know on weight watchers you are given an extra points allowance if you are breast feeding. I think its Fio on here that is feeding her baby so she would know more about it. Good luck! You have come to the right place for some fab support

mammyjo · 31/01/2008 19:57

Oh and pelafina, not a whingey bitch at all! I know what it is like to be disappointed that you havent lost as much as you think you should have. It is really hard but please dont lose hope now. You are doing really well. Keep it going

silkcushion · 31/01/2008 20:01

Some very interesting posts!

Am with dh tonight - he turned his nose up at the spicy butternut squash soup - declaring he hated butternut squash - he's never even tasted it ffs!!!! And when I forced him too he announced he hated it as previously stated (I was never going to win was I?)

So now he's having an indian takeaway - but as I've loads of points left I'm going to have 2 poppadoms (2.5pts) and a chicken tikka (1pt per piece of chicken).

Did a stupid sneaky weigh in this morning - someone slap me please - it's shows I've PUT ON 3lbs - surely impossible cos I've stuck to the points. My own fault for checking midweek, should motivate me more but makes me feel

Did my Davina DVD again this morning and felt slightly less exhausted after the boxing bit than before - maybe my fitness is returning. (must state for anyone who has said dvd I do not do the whole thing just warm up plus 1 or 2 sections)

weight watchers chocolate marble coffee cake recipe

1/4 cup margarine
? 3/4 cup granulated sugar
? 1 whole egg
? 1 egg white
? 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
? 1 1/4 cups flour
? 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
? 1 tsp. cinnamon
? 1/2 tsp. baking soda
? 1 cup plain yogurt

Chocolate Marble:
? 1/4 cup granulated sugar
? 3 tbs. cocoa powder
? 3 tbs. milk

In a medium bowl cream 3/4 cup sugar and margarine together. Beat in egg, egg white and vanilla.

In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and cinnamon.

Add flour mixture to margarine/sugar mixture alternately with the yogurt mixing just until blended.

Pour all but 1 cup of batter into sprayed and floured Bundt pan.

In a small bowl mix together 1/4 cup sugar, cocoa and milk until blended. Add to reserved batter, mixing well. Pour this mixture over the batter in the pan and using a knife draw the chocolate batter through the cake batter creating a marbled effect.

Counts as 16 servings at 2 POINTS each

Dont know what a Bundt pan is does anyone know? I am presuming it cooks it as there is no oven temp, anyway thought it might be worth a try at 2 points a slice!

VeniVidiVetoQV · 31/01/2008 20:37

WHat's a bundt pan?

mammyjo · 31/01/2008 20:50

I always thought a bundt was a type of cake? Just assumed a bundt pan would be what it was baked in! I didnt think it had any heat to it though. Weird how there is no oven temp on the recipe.
Sorry, that is absolutely no help whatsoever

VeniVidiVetoQV · 31/01/2008 21:27

I've had fig and goats cheese tortelloni for dinner with a sprinkle of parmesan, a small drizzle of olive oil and a handful of rocket. 10 points in total.

Washed down with a pint of water.

I have 5.5 points left so I might have some lemon and ginger biscuits or another tunnocks caramel wafer...........

UniversallyChallenged · 31/01/2008 21:38

Why does everyone elses food always sound so much nicer than mine? It's like other people's trolleys always seem more interesting
Your tea sounded scrummy VVVQV!

That recipe was from the american website am gonna google bundt now

UniversallyChallenged · 31/01/2008 21:43

a round cake tin, looking surprisingly like my mum's old jelly moulds. How odd. Still, the recipe said chocolate so i have to try it!!

araucaria · 31/01/2008 22:19

Sorry UC no idea - if you find out let me know, the cake sounds yummy - slight problem might be sticking to one or two slices

Silk mid week weigh ins are the pits aren?t they? But don?t loose hope, last week I thought I had not lost anything mid week, but by monday I was down 4 lbs - so STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALES

Sanna - welcome! Not sure about the tesco diet, but I think breast feeding takes around 250 to 500 cals a day depending on age and if supplementing. I am breast feeding too - have just started LO on solids, but BLW so most is going on floor, walls, highchair, his hair and my hair . So I am still feeding loads. I have lost weight so far by trying to eat healthily as am useless at counting calories - but then I was eating alot of crap before!

Hi Pelafina - have you decided on a new sling yet? I keep hoping carrying DS burns a few more calories All the girls are right, don't expect too much too soon - DS is 28 weeks, and I am not back in my old clothes , but my maternity trousers are now very loose since joining this thread

Eddas - I agree with all you say - think you have touched a chord with most of us!

Colditz hope you had a better day today.

VVVQ had the flafel for tea as DH away - yummy as always!

Ags the pasta sounds fab - going to try that after the butternut squash soup tomorrow.

Sure I have missed loads of people. Sorry if I have.
I have had a better day today - probably as I now have the computer back I thought I would have to come on and admit if I hadn't Did not do any exercise at all though as weather too crap.
Got to go DS crying again....

VeniVidiVetoQV · 31/01/2008 22:47

Ah, well, the pasta is ready made from sainsburys which helps

I know what you mean now! It's a tin with a hollow middle!!!!!

VeniVidiVetoQV · 31/01/2008 22:47

Crikey - have you seen how many posts we have notched up???

We'll be having to start a new thread soon

moodlumthehoodlum · 31/01/2008 22:50

Hello all. This is fat moodlum reporting for weigh in a day late. No change. Not trying hard enough. Too concerned with big decisions like whether I go back to work or not.

Well done everyone else though - you're doing so well, and make me feel like I'm just not trying hard enough and letting the side down.

Can I wipe the slate clean then, and say new month new start? I still have lost 5lbs from where I was last month, so its not all in vain.

silkcushion · 31/01/2008 22:50

Imagine what would happen if we posted everytime we wanted to eat

Reckon mn would crash!

colditz · 31/01/2008 22:51

had a good day today. Coley, potatoes and butternut squash for tea. Yum yum!!

(400g raw weight of coley greedy colditz!)

I only cleared 17.5 points out of 21 though. If I can keep that up for the rest of the week I may make up for yesterday's abomination

silkcushion · 31/01/2008 23:04

What's coley?

VeniVidiVetoQV · 31/01/2008 23:08

It's a bit like cod.

Moodlum - 5lb is good weightloss, when you consider that you should be aiming for 1-2lb a week. It's on the lower average, but it's still bang on

Ags · 31/01/2008 23:25

Well done Colditz! Have not got into the butternut squash thing. Might be with Silk's dh on that one! Sorry Silk! Enjoy the poppadoms and chick tikka! After the mid week weigh in debacle he is lucky to have escaped unscathed!

UC, sounds like a fab recipe for the cake. Think I would have a bit of a problem like Araucaria in sticking to one slice. The trouble with lovely things in my cupboards is they develop some sort of telepathic link with me and they call to me constantly. I have had to throw things in the bin and make sure they are covered in disgusting rubbish in order to stop me eating them! Did anyone see the Sex in the City where Miranda threw a chocolate cheesecake (I think) in the bin to stop herself eating it and then caved, took it out again and ate it! That could be me!

I had a rubbish dinner this evening. This is a really busy evening with dh going to tennis at 4.45. Useless time of day for activity and then we go back for tea to a friend's house so we are not back until about 6.30. As previously stated, dh is always starving when he gets back from work so shoved an enormous chick and asparagus pie in the oven for him and left instructions for him to put jkt potato in the combi micro. Got home and could see dh running round the kitchen with smoke billowing out of the windows! He was doing the potato and something went seriously wrong. I can still smell burnt spuds all over the house! They were like charcoal! So my dinner was a very slapdash affair. Jacket potato (cooked perfectly without the need for fire extinguisher, I might add), fried eggs, mushrooms, toms and salad. All fine stuff but just lacked a bit of taste to be honest. Still, I was full and the points were good so can't complain.

moodlumthehoodlum · 31/01/2008 23:26

thanks for the verbal hairstroke vvq I mustn't give up. I just want to eleven stone. I'd be happy as a little pig in clover then.
