I would love some company. Will try to log on everyday to keep up with anyone who joins me but I do work full time so please dont be cross if I dont reply quickly!!!

I am really down right now about the way I look and would love to share my joys/lows with others - speak soon x

Eddas - you are doing really well by sticking to it - and that's half the battle.

  • I find that i only lose weight when I write what I eat down (hence my lack of success so far..) so I would deffo write things down.
  • Evening eating is deffo a danger spot, but sounds like you are eating early enough for it to be OK. I don't get to eat until at least eight, and I found that I lost the most weight when I set aside snacks that had few/no points for when I knew I would be hungry.
  • Sometimes you can just go through the first few weeks losing nothing and then have a good week. I am REALLY bad at little mid week weigh ins, and I can't resist them, so I just have to learn to IGNORE them, and not use them as a traffic light to either eat too much or not enough!!!
VVVQV · 25/01/2008 14:13

I would strongly recommend doing a food diary for at least a few weeks, if not months. I didnt realise how much I was eating until I wrote it down.

I'm doing the online tracker thing AND noting things down on here too.

Eddas - you are doing really well - stop worrying . It's early days yet.

I had a sugar craving yesterday (turns out I was very due AF). DH went out and got me some WW almond cake slices, bless!

Have had orange juice, a ham and mustard wholemeal roll, a banana, an apple and an almond cake slice so far today. 8 points in total. I'm going to graze through the afternoon so as not to lump all my points too late this evening.

mammyjo · 25/01/2008 14:14

Hi all. Eddas you are doing really well, dont get demotivated. I am always having a sneaky weigh in, its hard to resist, but it has the power to boost me or send me to the biscuit tin. So difficult not to do it though! I would suggest really measuring your points maybe for a week. I know that if I wasnt strict with my counting then I would easily go over as my portion sizes would start creeping up again!

Fio, thanks for the meatball recipe. My dh and ds love meatballs so will be giving them a try! Like the idea of the mozarella in them.

Choc, congrats on your 4lb loss, excellent news!

SC, hope your dd is better soon.

chocolatespiders · 25/01/2008 19:41

would anyone be able to tell me how many points i am supposed to be having

i weigh 16 stone

no excercise

thankyou

Eddas · 25/01/2008 19:52

my book says 14-16 stone, 24 points. 16-18 stone, 26 points

Thanks for all the advie and encouragement everyone, it really helps DH is good but it's when he's at work I fall off the wagon so that was the reason for joining this thread, and it really helped today

Thank you

chocolatespiders · 25/01/2008 20:23

thanks

i blew 8 on a big bag -100g of sensations sweet chilli crips.,

but i am hungry now and was hoping i had points left but wasnt sure.... think i may have enough left for another bag...

no i will have bowl of porridge

eddas have you had a good day?

Eddas · 25/01/2008 20:37

well done on the porridge choice. Probably best but the pull of the crisps must be hard

My day was ok thanks. Stuck to the diet, I think Not sure how many points but can't be far out

I tried an experiment, of sorts, had a big meal at lunchtime. Thought i'd have toast at diner time but wasn't really hungry. So had some just before 8 as i know if I left it i'd be hungry at some point and didn't want to eat too late. Can't do that everyday though

silkcushion · 25/01/2008 20:49

Glad you had a good day Eddas. I have gone 3 pts over - which is a shocker given that I get a ginormous 26 pts per day!!

Have discovered something interesting about my emotional eating. Read somewhere (prob ww site) that comfort eaters are usually very angry. I initally scoffed at the idea - mistakenly believing I serenely glide through life. However, I have really noticed when I've wanted to binge eat and it's when I'm furious, not stressed or sad. Had no appetite at all tues/wed when Megan was in hospital but then have been angry (maybe irrationally so) at DH since and the first thing I want to do is eat!

Maybe I need anger management classes

Another opportunity for me to use this thread like a psychiatrist's couch - sorry

silkcushion · 25/01/2008 20:50

Choc - as gorgeous as the sweet chilli crisps are you do know you can't live on them don't you?

chocolatespiders · 25/01/2008 20:54

thats what the thread is for and it will help you in the long run if you understand your overeating... i wish i knew mine...

eddas you dont seem to eat much- do you have anything in between meals?

i have had my porridge....no crisps in sight...

walkers used to do light crisps.... (not the baked ones) and they were 1.5 a bag so i used to have 2 and feel satisfied for 3 points... but they dont seem to do them any more,

i am a low point quantity kind of girl...
i need low point snack ideas?

Eddas · 25/01/2008 20:55

funny you should mention that sc as I was thinking the same about my moods. Haven't read anything on their being a link but I am aware that i get really ratty around mealtimes. Generally put it down to having to feed 4 people 3 different meals. But today I realised I was getting snappy. The reason was...............hadn't had a drink in a LONG time i'm such a prat. Just get a glass and fill it with water. Simple. Then I won't start getting little irratating headaches i'll never learn!

I did hear/read that chocolate can be a trigger of anger in some people. As I usually eat a lot of it I was hoping for some mood improvement, I think I am a bit less stroppy atm dh would probably disagree

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH I need a personal chef. Job details. cook me 3 healthy, balanced meals per day. Make me slim. Not too much to ask for surely Oh and maybe they could double as a personal trainer

Eddas · 25/01/2008 21:00

CS, gald to hear it I had crisps the other day. made me want chocolate. Will be trying not to eat them for a while

Snacking, not really. Sometimes a banana or grapes but not really. Could be I need to eat more fruit No scrap that, definately need to eat more fruit. And veg.

Ok, my day goes, food wise:

Sometimes a cuppa
Breakfast - cereal with skimmed milk, this week ricicles, have bought shredded wheat for the coming week
Lunch - 2 slices of marmite on toast. May swap to soup
Diner - Normal diner, actually these are fairly unhealthy. Could be improved eg the other day I had 2 sausages, chips and beans.

UniversallyChallenged · 25/01/2008 21:49

Hey i jut copied this choc bran cake from another thread as it looks yummy. Can any clever WW person work out how many points a slice would be?

100g All Bran cereal
250ml boiling water
2 eggs
6 heaped tsp of drinking chocolate
½ cup sweetener

  1. Pour the boiling water on to the All Bran in a large bowl and mix well.
  2. Add the eggs, drinking chocolate and sweetener and beat the mixture until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  3. Put the mixture into a 6½ inch round plastic tub or other suitable microwaveable dish, smooth the top with a large spoon or flat knife, and microwave on high for 6 minutes.
  4. Turn the cake out on to a plate, cut into 6 slices and enjoy!
colditz · 25/01/2008 23:00

assuming medium eggs 1.5 points each = 3 points,

light drinking chocolate (80 cals for 6 heaped spoons = 1 point

100g all bran = 4 points, I think

total 8 points

8/6 = roughly 1.5 points per slice.

VVVQV · 25/01/2008 23:20

Arrggghhh! Internet has been down for most of the day!

I have missed being able to log on and record my eating activities. It has led me to .... eat

Not too badly though

VVVQV · 25/01/2008 23:33

Well, maybe a leeeetle badly

Went 4 food points over. Had bagged 1.5 activity points from walking today so 2.5 over. Had 9.5 banked this week so im still 7 points over for the week.

AF started last night so i'm not even contemplating going near the scales because I know I'm carrying excess water.

I'm sure tomorrow will be a better day though.

Ags · 26/01/2008 01:03

Haven't been online for a few days as have Mum and Dad staying. Normally, an excuse to forget the diet and mainline confectionary. But, I am keeping to my points and feeling ok. Amazing, after only 7lbs, had a good friend asking if I had lost weight. Said she noticed it in my face! A good start, just needs to come off the rest of me now.

Yeah for Colditz's trousers! Size 16 seems like a distant dream. I think I was last a size 16 when I was about 10!

Silk, hope that your poor lo is on the mend.

Choc, great loss! You are doing really well.

Eddas, hope you are feeling a bit more motivated. We all go through that hideous stage/s!!

VVV, definately keep off those scales! Looked through an old ww meeting card last night and had (sad, I know) marked the weeks of AF. Always weighed heavier than I felt I deserved! Bloody water retention!

VVVQV · 26/01/2008 09:30

Oh excellent Ags

I meant 7 points under for the week, not over.

I feel incredibly bloated at the moment so I know there is no point trying to measure anything. Using a mooncup has improved my AF generally, but I'm still getting a lot of bloating, and PMT.....both can be counterproductive with a diet I think.

ANyway, I'm feeling a bit better this morning. Had a slice of wholemeal toast and a little olive spread and a banana for breakfast.

chocolatespiders · 26/01/2008 09:42

morning all....

vvv yesterday has gone today is another day>> let it be a great one...

i have just had breakfast> small shreded wheat and branflakes mixed....

sun is shining here so going to attempt to get girls bikes into the car and go to lake they can cycle and i will attempt to keep up!!!

have a great day everyone

mammyjo · 26/01/2008 15:49

Hi all. Hope everyone is having a good day. Both my dh and ds went into greggs this afternoon for pasties, but I was very virtuous and had nothing! Long may that continue.
Am going to attempt the chicken tikka massala out of the kick start book for dinner tonight. Sounds good, but some of these low fat recipes just are not the same!! We shall see

silkcushion · 26/01/2008 17:20

Ags - you must be thrilled someone has noticed yr weight loss - well done

Mammy - you are a strong lady to resist the lure of greggs. I managed not to eat any quality street this afternoon when offered some at a great auntie's house. Was tough but I stayed strong. Couldn't resist eating some of dh's chips off his plate when we went out for lunch though have counted the points.

VVV - ok so I am hanging my head in shame whilst asking this, but I am relatively new to MN and I have lost my intelligence since having a baby and I can't work it out on my own ..... what is a mooncup?

colditz · 26/01/2008 18:01

I went back to bed today while ex took the boys out, and did not get up until 4, so I've just waffled 2 lf sausage, spray fried egg, 400g potato made into wedges (again with spray) and 1/2 a tin of spaghetti, and a slice of ww bread - pig!

10 points. and worth it.

mammyjo · 26/01/2008 18:37

Definitely worth the 10 points, sounds delicious!! How did you cook your wedges? I always do mine in the oven but cant seem to get them quite right.

colditz · 26/01/2008 19:14

i use new potatoes, and cut them up into chunky wedge shapes ...3 - 4 wedges per potato and make sure there is a 'thinner' end. Spray the tray with 4/5 squirts of frylight butter flavour, layer the potatoes in one layer, another 4/5 squirts of frylight on top.

Into a 200 degree oven, and bake until softening, then whack the heat up as high as poss to brown and crisp them.

UniversallyChallenged · 26/01/2008 20:20

Thanks for working that cake out for me Colditz
