how many points is the falafel>>> i love it.. with salad .....

hope everyone is having a good day

weigh day for me tomorrow

moodlumthehoodlum · 23/01/2008 19:45

evenin' all..

Poor you SC - hope dd is alright and they get to the bottom of the reaction.

Am about to chew my arm off with hunger.

Today is my weigh in day and I stayed the same, which is a miracle considering the amount of food I have gone through, so big hope for a sensible careful week this week.

Off to chew my arm. Well done everyone.

VVVQV · 23/01/2008 20:09

THank you thank you thank you copy and paste fio

Sounds delicious. I think I'll attempt it this weekend.

Falafel - for 4 it's 3.5 points.

silkcushion · 23/01/2008 20:44

Well I said I could manage a decent meal with 5pts so I ate .............

...... a chinese takeaway

I blame dh - it was his idea and I didn't even want it but was too kanckered to fling anything else together. So I recalculated my pts for the week and decided to eat all the activity pts allowed - now -4.5 for the week - I can make that up easily.

Dermatologist was fking useless ('scuse the language but he was). Didn't listen to anything we said. Gave a prescription for another hyrdocortisone and an emollient we'd already tried and I told him didn't work. And we were paying £140 for this. He then said he'd pass us to his colleague who was a specialist in paediatrics. What @$!!!!

The doctors I have dealt with in the NHS over the last 36 hrs have all been exceptional and there have been 8 of them. Allergic reaction they believe was due to her fighting a virus (answer to everything). Have been given piriton for the next few days. Also a senior consultant who specialises in allergies has said she'll take her on and find out what's happening and why. She works 3 days a week but said ring my secretary if yr really worried and she'll call me at home!! That is good service and I bet she earns alot less than the private dr.

Rant over sorry - need sleep

VVVQV · 23/01/2008 21:42

Well, I had 3 extra lean sausages, a small jacket potato - with butter , reduced salt and sugar beans, big dollop of mustard and a slice of bread and butter. 8.5 points all in all.

I had a dessert - needed something sweet. So I had half a tin of pineapple pieces in juice with a meringue nest. Only 1.5 points. I have 3 points left. 8 saved so far this week.

I will be saving them for a lovely bacon baguette and a bit of cake for the weekend.

Silk, that's not unheard of - the body reacting to a virus in an unusual manner. It must be really worrying for you. The consultant sounds good though.

loler · 23/01/2008 22:59

Smoked mackeral is really nice microwaved with a sauce made of a spoon of marmalade and a good splash of balsamic (microwaved to reduce it). I had last night with mashed root veg.

Am feeling very tired as had DS1 and 2 in and out of bed all night last night but can't get the energy to get myself up stairs to bed!!!

As have done very poorly over last couple of days going to take the dog for a really long walk tomorrow (also feeling guilty as she's been dumped in the garden today as DH is away this week - he's gone to Eygpt and is hoping for a case of dysentry to beat me on this diet!)

SC - hope you get to the cause of your problem - well done on keeping up with your diet, I would have hit the chocolate by now!

chocolatespiders · 24/01/2008 11:00

Had a lie in till 6 - feel very fine today thanks. Have definately noticed a difference with hunger and have been out for lunch and just had Jacket pot and beans when all around everyone was eating deep fried niceness. Feeling very gaunt today!

chocolate - Well done on the 4 lbs. Well on the way to 1/2 stone!

VVVQV · 24/01/2008 16:27

Thank you fioooooooooo

am shattered. Still awake at 4am last night for reasons unknown. I was falling asleep earlier in the evening (about 6pm) and fought to stay awake so I would sleep. It didnt work. So I am grumpy. I have PMT too. So, I am grumpy.

I had no breakfast today but had another falafel pitta bread to finish off the pack of falafel plus the last two falafel in the pack. That's it. So 8 points for that and 1 for milk so far today. Have 15 points left for dinner.

I might forfeit dinner and just eat 3 mars bars.......................

DRINK WATER btw

colditz · 24/01/2008 18:09

vvv you are saving most of your points until the evening, meaning your body is getting the main whack of energy after the evening meal ... this is probably why you are still awake til stupid o clock!

VVVQV · 24/01/2008 18:14

I cant eat much in the morning. It makes me throw it back up I've discovered. I dont usually get a decent 'lunch' break. I work from 9.40am to 1.40pm and then have to pick up DS, dash over to home (half hour drive), then have 20-30 mins before going to collect DD. I dont get home until 3.45pm most days.

I might bring forward dinner time though....

Certainly worth a try

silkcushion · 24/01/2008 21:11

Have had a much better day today all round ie I've eaten less and dd has eaten more

Points are now all square for the week. VVV - I hate brekkie in the morning too, can't eat until I've been awake a while. Is there anything you could eat on the go? In the car on the way to work maybe? Get yr blood sugar levels up and more evenly balanced throughout the day. Possibly need to do this if looking for a sustained weight loss. It will be my problem when I return to work next month.

Off to get a glass of water

Oooooo I nearly forgot ..... Well done Choc

chocolatespiders · 24/01/2008 21:15

thankyou

vvv could you have cereal bar in car? or at work... or banana?

i have brekkie at work normally about 9.30.. i have weetabix, or a bar... i couldnt eat it earlier...

well done everyone we are doing great...

araucaria · 24/01/2008 21:45

Silk - how awful and frigthening for you and your LO. I am glad you got good care from the NHS. How are things going now? Hope all is well.

Colditz - yeh for the jeans - I keep dreaming about wearing normal (whispers maybe even slim) summer clothes this summer - or at least be able to wear short sleeved tops again. I have not worn them for, well most of the last decade due to my bingo wings

VVVQ - I felt hungrey earlier and just as I was reaching for the bread and butter, I thought 'NO'!! and drank some water instead which was a miracle - so Thank you! I plan to try the flafel thing tomorrow - DS will have had his chicken pox for a week, so I can hit Tesco's again.
Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Well done Chocolate!

Moodlum how did the weigh in go?

Glad you got a better night Loler, it makes such a difference doesn't it?

Flo - sounds yummy - I would of tucked in too .

Things have been pretty good here today, prob 'cos DS slept well last night! Went for two long walks - but stupidly forgot the pedometer - must try to put it on tomorrow.
As for breakfast - the thought of it is the only thing that gets me out of bed most mornings! I have a tendancy to overeat at breakfast and then often that sets the tone for the day

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow

VVVQV · 24/01/2008 22:09

You are welcome auri

Thank you all for your suggestions. I do eat lunch at work, but I dont get a break as such. So I have what I can make quickly otherwise I feel like I'm taking the pee.

I try and have a slice of toast when I get there too, but I dont always have the time.

The office also has fruit delivered each week and it had run out today.

It's a vicious circle - if I could get a decent nights sleep I could get up earlier in the morning. If I could get up earlier, then I could manage to have some form of decent breakfast in the morning before I leave. Then make sure I dont eat the bulk of my points in the evening, meaning I can go to sleep.......aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhh

Eddas · 25/01/2008 08:37

I'm feeling a bit down about dieting today. I have been good, at least I think so, but I got on the scales today(I know shouldn't have, but it's too tempting) and I still am only 12lbs on my starting weight

I know that's good but I've avoided crisps/chocolate etc etc and had 3 meals and either nothing else or maybe a banana.

Do you think it's because i'm not writing down my points so really, I coudl be going over them? I doubt it as breakfast and lunch are about 5-6 points between them. I could definately eat better still but want this to be something I can stick too rather than a real huge effort which I give up on after a short time IYSWIM.

I haven't yet done any exercise which could be another problem. I think i'll pop out and get a dvd to do a few times a week. It's pretty much impossible to get out of the house to do something so that's my only option Really want to start running but that'll have to wait til lighter evenings, but I will do it.

I'm not expecting miracle results but you know what it's like when you've worked hard at not eating things and see nothing I WILL NOT GIVE UP THOUGH. I keep imagining myself slim and it makes me I want to wear all the clothes that have been sitting idle for the last 18 months or more.

Sorry for such a self absorbed post any comments greatly received. Even if it's shut up moaning on, or stop weighing in too often you silly mare as they're bound to not show a loss

Eddas · 25/01/2008 08:42

actually, having read the thread again. Could it be anything to do with saving most of my points to have a nromal diner without bothering too much about what it is? I don't eat late, normally between 5.45 and 7? Ideally I would eat at 5.45 each day(when dh gets home) but I work 3 afternoons a week so don't get in til 6 and then have to cook/put dd&ds to bed(putting dd to bed those days is a nightmare, she didn't go to sleep for an hour last night was screaming like a banshee) anyway!

Could also be the lack of water. Must improve on that. Starting today

silkcushion · 25/01/2008 10:59

Right Eddas you silly mare

1 - you are doing well
2 - how are you managing only 5pts between breakfast and lunch? I have oats so simple porridge and that's 3 pts with milk.
3 - are you eating all your points?
4 - perhaps eating them all in the evening means yr body doesn't work as effectively during the day cos it's hungry/running low on fuel.
5 - ww site says if you reach a plateau (which you haven't) then get moving, increasing yr exercise even by a little bit will make quite a big difference.
6 - you are forgiven for a sneaky weigh - I did it too this morning and yesterday - yesterday I had lost 2lbs and this morning put it back on - so an exercise in demotivation really (stupid silk)
7 - give yrself a break - yr a working mum fgs.

And that's the end of my lecture

Eddas · 25/01/2008 11:11

thanks sc

Ok so 5-6 points is made up of cereal with skimmed milk (2-3 points depending on cereal) for breakfast and 2 slices of mamrite on toast for lunch (2.5 points) I seem to manage fine just eating that. Ok I may have to change from the toast soon as it will get a bit dull everyday but tis ok atm. I might start having soup for lunch too as I did that back in sept, no bread with it, and enjoyed it. Just choose the low fat ones, so vergetable mainly, but that's good.

To drink I stick to water or tea with a sweetner instead of sugar, have little milk so don't count the points (and it's skimmed so hard to put 1/4 of a point of something)

If I eat a banana that's another point. I'm allowed 20 in a day so that leaves me LOADS for diner.

Have given myself a
