Hello to all,

So many posts!

Hope you're better now VVVQV.

Chocolate spiders - agree re need to know the secrets of thin people! The thinnest girl I worked with had crisps, a Mars and a full fat coke for lunch everyday.....jealous? Moi?

I have crashed and burnt this week. Amongst the items to declare are: giant portion of moules frites, bag of Reese's Cups, carrot cake, takeaway curry including starters and sides, lemon tart, giant bag of dry roasted nuts and half a bottle of vino. Ta-dah!

But I'm still here, and I'll be shaming myself at tomorrow's weigh-in. See you then!

silkcushion · 20/01/2008 12:44

i think thin people stop eating when full. my friend who is thin would never eat more than one bag of crisps and would eat them slowly one by one rather than shovel them in like i do. also she has lots of nervous energy and is constantly moving. she could also eat half a mars bar and chuck the rest

mammyjo · 20/01/2008 17:36

I could never chuck the half mars bar away!!

PW, good luck for tomorrow. The good thing is that you are still here. That is the reason I have failed so many times before, I have a bad day/week and then the whole plan goes to pieces. I need to learn the ability to put that short spell behind me and keep going. Easier said than done though isn't it!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 20/01/2008 18:42

Hi. Thanks everyone.

Had wholemeal toast with jam and butter - 2 points.

Had a homemade (with leeks fresh from the garden) leek and potato soup today. The soup was 1 point. The bread and butter that went with it - 3.5 points!

I've not eaten anything else today. Mind you, I've busied myself. No idea what I'll have for dinner. I quite fancy beetroot. So something with salad I guess!

Still not feeling quite right. Felt quite nauseaous too. It's a symptom of water infections apparently.

My view on thin people - food isnt a huge deal. They get hungry - they eat. They dont sit fantasising about food so much. They stop when they are hungry. They treat it like any other bodily function. You need a wee - you go. Your bladder is empty - you stop and get off!

I think, with us overweight folk - our days kinda revolve around what we are going to eat. It's like smoking. You plan your day around when your next cigarette will be. You have to make sure you have enough cigarettes in otherwise you panic. You do it more when you are bored. You light up without even thinking about it. It's very similar. As an ex-smoker - the similarities are quite startling, now I think about it.

CayKon · 20/01/2008 19:49

Well I totally lost the plot today. What a thing to do the day before weigh in.
I'll never get the weight of at this rate!!!

moodlumthehoodlum · 20/01/2008 19:53

Evening all - how is everyone tonight. I have been absent for days now because I have been filling my boots with food like I'm going to be fasting for the next year.

PW - pleased is the wrong word, but relieved not to be the only one who crashed and burned - except my items are too numerous to list here (ditto on the takeaway curry though )

VVVQ - how strange - I had exactly the same revelation about overeating being a habit similar to smoking, just last night (when feeling like I was going to die from too much lamb curry). Each new year I feel relieved that I don't have the burden of worrying about giving up smoking, but I actually do, and its over eating. Except you can't give up eating completely, so its about moderation and balance, both of which I am crap at.

So, tomorrow is another day, and one in which I am determined to eat better and eat less. Hurrah! Well done to everyone who has been good - its so blardy hard at the weekend so big respect to the lean mean weekend eaters

VeniVidiVickiQV · 20/01/2008 19:55

Could you take up a hobby that involves your hands? Knitting maybe? Sounds daft, but, it could take your mind off being bored or restless?

moodlumthehoodlum · 20/01/2008 20:01

Mmm good idea, I did wonder about knitting, but I think it would end up being something that I got excited about for a few weeks and then would lurk in the corner half done looking at me reproachfully as I failed to do anything about it.

I've got excited again about a little business I wanted to set up last year and didn't do much about, so I am going to try and put my excess energy into doing that rather than opening the biscuit tin and ordering curries!

Sorry you haven't been well VVVQ

VeniVidiVickiQV · 20/01/2008 20:38

Just had a BGTY mushroom and bacon tagliatelle - 6.5 points.

Then a light cherry bakewell - 3 points.

Still have 7 points left and can only bank 4. May have a 1 point cereal bar as well to soothe my sweet tooth!

Earthymama · 20/01/2008 20:53

Hi sorry not been back, been really busy.
However, I did find time to pop into WW meeting in local town centre on Sat am which is really convenient.

I haven't been weighed since mid Dec so was terrified, as there have been close encounters with Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, (Bohemian Raspbery, to die for), mince pies, walnuts, and much alcohol since then!!

Guess what? I lost 2&half lbs...I'm so pleased and full of enthusiasm. I'm doing Core Plan and today have eaten
Veggie bacon, sausage, beans, toms, mushrooms. poached egg and half slice wholemeal bread,
Quorn fillet, pot & swede mash, cabbage, peas & gravy.
Apple
I'm going to have yoghurt and some fruit later & a latte.

I'll catch up on the thread later or tomorrow & hope you all have a good week.

Eddas · 20/01/2008 21:01

My day is ALL about eating, although not just me. All I do is feed people or myself. DD is 3.7 and ds is 9 months so you get the picture! Then of course we add in dh and my and that's a lot of feeding all at different times. It's exhausting. It would be easier if the everning meal was just one for all of us but currently ds has one, dd has another(she can't wait til dh gets home as it's too late) then dh and I have one. Madness.

Weigh-in tomorrow, hope to lose something[fingers crossed] It's an incentive to keep on going.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 20/01/2008 21:57

Just done my regular Sunday night weigh in. I am rather astonished and to find I have lost 2lbs!!!!

So, despite the bloody awful, week, I'm still losing! Yay!.

I'm also hoping I am retaining a bit of water because AF is due. At least I farking hope it is!!!!!!

Woohoo!!!!

chocolatespiders · 20/01/2008 22:02

that is fantastic... you are brave weighing at night, i have to do it first thing in the morning......

could you tell me vvv which are the 1 point cereal bars you have..?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 20/01/2008 22:08

Correction!!!

I have lost 4lbs

choc - the cereal bar is Sainsburys Be Good To Yourself Multigrain Maple flavour cereal bar.

silkcushion · 20/01/2008 22:14

Fantastic result VVV - especially with being unwell.

Have been crap today - bad night and day with dh and dd (little baby) who have gastroenteritus/novovirus apparently. All started yesterday evening. My day has gone to shite other than eating porridge for breakfast I have grabbed crap at petrol station/co op when on the way to hospital or pharmacy!

I have eaten 3 bags of crisps, a finger of fudge and a milky bar!! Having said that still come in 1.5pts under for the day hardly a balanced diet methinks!

Weigh in in the morning - I am hopeful as I have stayed within my points. Have 5 banked and left over (haven't banked my ativity points - have earned 17 and eaten about 4 I think). If I haven't lost then I've cocked up the recording of things (but I had lost 5lbs when I did a cheeky interim weigh on wed)

Eddas · 20/01/2008 22:15

WoW, well done VVVQ, 4lbs

Thinks it's wishful thinking for me to have lost that. Tomorrow well tell. I'll be on between 7 and 8 with news

silkcushion · 20/01/2008 22:15

another 2lbs in 11 minutes!!!!!

have you had a poo?

Eddas · 20/01/2008 22:16

aw silkcusion, how are they now? My ds has a vomitting thing atm. Oh the joys of dd/dh and me catching it. Can't wait. Mind you he was at MIL/Step FIL last night so they'll get it too, which they'll love us for

silkcushion · 20/01/2008 22:23

dd has finally gone to sleep (have just got her to drink some juice - vomits milk and refusing water)

dh is feeling very sorry for himself in the spare bedroom. Hasn't had much help from me today as I've been more concerned with dd - worried about dehydration.

Ags · 20/01/2008 22:40

Well done VVVQ! Bloody amazing weight loss! Am pleased and jealous in equal measure.

Have my first weigh in tomorrow and feel very excited/nervous.

Had a great food day today. Frosties for breakfast, BLT for lunch and Roast chickent, mash and veg for dinner. Feel really satisfied but only used 15.5 points. So had a few jaffa cakes!

Agree totally about thin people and the fact that food is not the obsession for them that it is for me. I don't have an off button when I am not consciously watching what I eat. Although sometimes I worry that weight watchers panders to the obsession as I think even more about what to eat each day but at least it is in a positive way!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 20/01/2008 22:46

SC

Ags, I think it helps retrain your response to food. By changing what you become habitual about eating, the quantity wont necessarily matter so much. So if you are snacking on fruit and veg instead, thats fine.

You'll start to automatically go for foods that are better for you, and lower in fat. It helps you to learn when you are full up too.

So, when you have points left at the end of the day - you find yourself wondering what to 'spend' them on. Then you realise you dont actually need to eat and you arent hungry.

I think!

colditz · 20/01/2008 22:46

SC try very watered apple juice, luke warm

Well done VVVQV! Fantastic!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 20/01/2008 22:54

Right - I have some raw prawns. Anyone got any recipes? Ta!

colditz · 20/01/2008 22:56

Skewer them on cocktail sticks, grill and serve with lemon mayonaise.

Ags · 20/01/2008 23:04

Dry fry (or use a spritz of oil)peppers and then add prawns and squished garlic , add half fat creme fraiche and teaspoon dijon mustard. Serve with rice and extra veg. It sounds ridiculously simple but is really delish.

Yes, I totally agree that WW can retrain your way of thinking about food. I think that there comes a point where I need to acknowledge that I have a hugely distorted attitude to food which will probably always be obsessive. The obsession needs to stay in the realm of counting points rather than stuffing biscuits in my gob!
