That's really interesting about the diet coke, but I don;t drink enough of it to stop me losing weight its the fact that I snack all day long and always finish off anything ds has left, I know I shouldn't but I just can't help myself Well I have had two good days so far, just hope I can keep it up.

I had a baby 12 weeks ago but the other day my 2:5 yr old pointed at my tummy and said 'baby in there' so I NEED to do something about it

katylessbumpy · 03/01/2008 13:00

the diet coke info is amazing . i never knew,it's water for me from now on.just been to asda and filled my cupboards and fridge with fresh healthy foods.yum.there's no stopping me now

Hi, katy, we're having chilli con carne with plain rice, adolop of plain yougurt and some grated parmesan cheese. I hope I'll be able to resist those lovely biscuits still learking in my biscuit tin. i wonder what everyone's having tonight.

blanki · 03/01/2008 18:27

No ds tonight, so after a busy day had some of my gorg lentil type soup and an oat cake.

Re diet coke, we always thought that it was the bubbles that made you feel so filled up. I used to drink 2 litres a day, cost me a fortune! About 6 months ago swapped it for water and sometimes squash, much more healthy!

Hope that I can get through the evening without tempting scooby snax!
Any recommendations on tv tonight?

katylessbumpy · 03/01/2008 18:46

Total and utter balls up. Have had such a stessful day, although seeing you lot being so good has persuaded me that the cop out of chips is being replaced with a jacket spud.
Have been sorting out taking DS2 out of school for Home education and finding it very emotional. I now realise I should have done it years ago.
Been to the library to re register and had to pay a £15.00 fine from 5 years ago, that I had forgotton about.

Hmmmm that chicken with bacon sounds so yummy.

blanki · 03/01/2008 19:41

O dear re library fine!

Hate to sound so twee, but I would love to he! I now find life so exciting when I look at it through the eyrs of 2 1/2 ds. The way he makes links, connections and find the simple things amazing is just so refreshing. Eat well

Hello hello please can I join in, I am DESPERATE to lose 2 stone having been stuffing my face and not exercising for the past 9 months...... today is the second day of me TRYING not to snack - HOW can I cut that out, do you have any tips please??????

I need to excercise but can't manage that at the moment. Does just cutting calories work???

SugarSkyHigh · 03/01/2008 19:48

Oh, and I'm a sucker for a glass of white wine

Fubsy · 03/01/2008 20:01

Well I cant say today has been exactly low fat

But I have only eaten 1/3 of a M&S mountain bar, where before I would have eaten the whole thing!

And I have bought a lot of fruit today.

discoverlife · 03/01/2008 20:01

If you must snack make it something worthwhile snaking on.
Crudities work for me, and I sometimes allow myself a bit of homemade blue cheese sauce. (very low fat youghurt and a cube of strong blue cheese crumbled in) or a big bowl of raw coleslaw (NO mayo) with a dollop of lemon juice or balsamic vinegar and I sit in front of the TV with it on my lap and shovel it in. Lots and lots of healthy vitamins.
Exercise can be anything that makes you move and raises your breathing and heart rate. A good shag, the gardening, playstation 'eye toy', wii (one of the more energetic games), a home exercise video. In fact anything.

SugarSkyHigh · 03/01/2008 20:13

energetic Wii sounds good - i had heard some exercise-y ones were coming out but didn't know they were available yet,... coleslaw with balsamic sounds good, will try!

any sweet snacks that are good? (i suppose that's the holy grail)!

SugarSkyHigh · 03/01/2008 20:30

Fubsy how on earth do you manage to just eat a third of a bar? I find it's all or nothing (not just with bars but with whole boxes of chocs)! I would LOVE to be able to stop at just a third of a bar, how do you do it? just will power?

discoverlife · 03/01/2008 20:37

try a little animal bar if you really must have chocolate.

another sweet one is to buy a bag of marshmallows and melt them in a bowl over a simmering pan of water, then gradually add rice krispies whilst stirring, until the marshmallows wont stick any more rice krispies. then turn out into a lightly greased tray and cut into rough cubes. leave to go cold, and eat quick because the kids will rob you once they know how good they are. check out the relevent weight/calories and you will find that you get a load of krispie squares for a few calories each. last time i tried it it worked out at 2 syns each with slimming world.

pollywobbledoodle · 03/01/2008 20:43

evening all
funny old day, dd ill in the night so up a few times then we both slept til 11!

so
in the night....crumpet with marmite
in the night part 2...pain chocolat
11ish muesli and skimmed milk
2ish bread and a banana, cappuccino and a choc biscuit
eve potatoe leek and broccoli pie and an orange
have at least succeeded in not saying sod it all day after my early am goodies

i have to say that after a break my own addiction nescafe cappuccino doesn't taste very nice (result!)

pollywobbledoodle · 03/01/2008 20:53

re not snacking
1 acquire disability that means you can't climb onto a stool/up a ladder without falling off

2 acquire tall partner

3 request that partner puts all goodies on the highest shelf in the house

4 at times of really great temptation, request that they go in the loft, away from the hatch

discoverlife · 03/01/2008 21:19

Pollywolly ref the tall partner bit.
Dont have a tall p[artner have a short one then even he can't reach
Ref the disability have two frozen shoulders so you can't raise your arms that hi anyway.

MrsFish · 03/01/2008 21:31

Today I have had

Breakfast - 3 weetabix with hot water and splash of milk, 1tsp half spoon sugar
Snack - Toasted teacake with flora light
Lunch - 2 slices w/m bread with 2 eggs and mayo light, apple
Afternoon snack cup of tea, 2 malted milk biscuits
Dinner - Broccoli and soya beans with a tomato and roasted vegetable sauce poured over with yellow pepper, mushrooms and small amount of chicken added. DH had pasta with his
Sitting here typing this and still feel hungry though, so I am going to resist a snack temptation and go to bed

Tip for the day - If you fancy a chocolate treat try having a cup of options hot choc instead, only 40 cals a cup, it will take longer to drink than eating a bar of choc and its only a fraction of the cals

Jahan · 03/01/2008 21:42

Hi all.

Today;
cereal, yogurt, coffee
roll with cottage cheese and salad, little pancake thing, banana
pasta, pesto, green beans, cherry toms
snacks - 4 breadsticks with some low fat dip, nuts, fruit
Could be better.

I think it does come down to will power to not snack on rubbish. Just tell yourself to only snack on fruit and have a glass of water. Think about how you'll feel if you give in to that cake/choc etc and keep remembering your goal.
I keep picturing my jeans getting looser and my waist reappering
And remember this famous slimming club phrase - "Nothing tastes as good as it feels to be slim "! or something to that effect

MrsFish - My ds2 is 12 weeks too! I too still have a belly and am determined to lose it. Breastfeeding apparently should help me shift loads so am hopeful!

amazonianwoman · 03/01/2008 21:53

Was doing so well today til I discovered a (large) bag of Maltesers when clearing out some cupboards. They were gone in a flash (with DD's help but she's a skinny little thing)

There's still a large bag of M&Ms in said cupboard so DH has promised to take them to work tomorrow...

Fubsy · 03/01/2008 22:10

Sugarskyhigh - have never done it before! I will probably have the rest for breakfast or something

susiecutiemincepies · 03/01/2008 23:03

just a quick hello to all

All I've eaten today is 2 chips from chippy, from DH's plate. Felt too poorly to eat. Have drunk 3 large mugs of hot milk though. oh, and a tiny bite of a snickers, also courtesy of DH.

Mr Cutie has had to go back to work early went after he'd put Isobel to bed this evening. He has to go to a meeting tomorrow, no way of getting out of it. He's promised he'll be back either firday night or first thing saturday morning. Horrible, I miss him already. Luckily, I'm not feeling up to the comfort eating thing tonight, or I reckon the malteasers would have got it...

mylittlefreya We are possible going to be in Manchester on tuesday, until thursday. Will be staying in Portland street, at our usual hotel. Just so we can all be together for Isobels 1st birthday. Mr C has another meeting which is compulsory he's even told them why he can be there, and they have basically said he has no choice, unless he's too ill to get out of bed or in hospital, whilst they sympathize they are sorry... yeah right, they'll be bloody sorry when I go up and kick them in the nipples.

Anyway, I'll know for sure on saturday if we are going to be there or not. I'm kind of thinking not though at the moment, as his meeting is at 6pm. by the time he gets back to us at hte hotel, she'll be ready for bed, and i'll have spent her 1st birthday with her on our own. If I stay here, at least we will see my mum, and some friends... not sure what to do really.. advice please??

ok, so i've gone on more than i meant to. sorry

Sounds like you are all doing really well. keep it up girls. I'm going to have a slimfast shake in the morning as i dont think i'll be wanting food again, so might as well keep metabolism ticking over in a good way

Good luck with your day today girls, Well done all of you.

fedda · 03/01/2008 23:03

That all sound good. I must try to follow.

MuthaHubbard · 03/01/2008 23:32

Feck it! Went to WW today, and their scales weight at least half a stone heavier (confirmed this with my friend who joined at the same time). So deffo need to lose 2 and a half stone now.

Is this meant to motivate you into losing more?!?

Anyhoo....cleared all crap out of cupboards, bought a few healthy nicey stuff at m&s and written a shopping list for tomorrow.

A lot of my trouble is planning so as long as I know what I'm having for a few days at a time I don't do too badly.

Fingers crossed!
