erm, katy, I've not weighed... I promise I will tomorrow morning.

Well, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

We had a lovely evening, Me, DH, and my neighbor and her daughter ( 10 yo). we all ended up slightly worse for wear. great fun though.

Have had a rotten chest ever since. Coughing is really not helping my back pain, at all, so hope it goes really quickly.

Starting to feel horrible about DH going back to work on sunday night. Time has gone far too quickly. I have found my eyes leaking a few times today at the thought of it. We had a lovely rest on the bed after lunch, Isobel had a loooong sleep, so we tried. I just lay next to him stroking his hair crying very quietly.

Food wise, still not back on the straight and narrow yet. We have almost eaten all the bad stuff, so think tomorrow is the day to start. Although, we are going out to lunch then to see The Golden Compass. I think i'll choose a healthy lunch option though.

SO lovely so see so many new faces. I'm afraid too many for me to personalise messages, but, I truly wish you all best of luck, we can do it! THINK THIN pollywobble like the name! maybe pollylesswobble would be a good one

actually, polly sorry to bother you, please tell me where to go, just I'd really like to chat via email, to you about my big sister, having a lot of problems with her and would really appreciate some advice... please please dont feel you have to, and I WONT be offended if you say no! my email is "susie brett at mac dot com " you know the score... take out the spaces and make words punctuation appropriately!!

KATY we might be up in sunny Manch next week, to be with Mr C for Izzy's first birthday...

mylittlefreya glad you have been out walking, blows away the cobwebs sometimes hey? hope you are feeling a bit better.

discoverlife I understand how you DH feels, I have horrible probs with my back and arthritis in my left hip, had it in right too, but that was replaced 3 years ago, still get awful pain in it though. Good to see he keeps his sense of humour, mine has gone away for a holiday I think at the moment... i'm hoping it will be home soon

sorry to all i've missed out, feeling a bit crappy again with chest, will look in tomorrow again, and report if I've gained or lost... erm, I think we already know its the former, and quite considerably too!

take care all. SO good to see you all.
and remember:

Can I join please?

I have just weighed myself and have put on 5lbs over Christmas. I am currently 11st 9lbs and 5'8". I would really like to loose 9lbs.

I have just turned 40 and i don't want to let it all slide.

I lost 2st just over a year ago by stopping drinking DIET coke, it's true! I stopped because of the links with osteoporosis, thats all I did and I lost the weight with no other actions over about 8 months.

But I have really gorged over Christmas (who hasn't ?) and we still have lot's of treats lying around and calling my name, a box of Bendicks Bittermints is particularly insistent, and I need encouragement and to know that someone is on my case to zip me into action.

Can you help?

madmommy6 · 02/01/2008 21:41

Hi Ladies.Hope you don't mind me joining you.
I'm 4ft 9 and weigh 13st 10 .Not sure how mush i should weigh,i think its about 8 stone.
So i have a very long way to go.

katylessbumpy · 02/01/2008 21:43

currantbunmum · 02/01/2008 21:55

It was really bizarre Katybumpless, I used to drink nothing but diet coke, but after hearing that 2 cans a week can reduce bone density by upto 40%, I had to stop, now I find the taste really chemical and can't drink it at all.

I just seemed to go back to the weight I was pre children without trying, I'm sure some of my friends didn't believe me.

YeahBut · 02/01/2008 21:57

Is it too late to join? Am feeling really fat and flabby at the moment and really want to get into shape.

katylessbumpy · 02/01/2008 22:00

i believe you.i am going to give it up! as from tomorrow it is water for me.i drink at least 2l a day of diet coke.

Will have to go , need to watch CH4 "My Fake Baby" don't know how long I will manage!

katylessbumpy · 02/01/2008 22:13

Hi, am I too late to join?

I used to have anorexia. I was really ill and was admitted too many times to a well known eating disorders unit for re-feeding. It was grim.

Thankfully, after very good help, I am recovered! Last month I even managed to lick banana that ds had smeared on my hand. It was my last hurdle!

My BMI now states that I am overweight. I dont equate wieght loss with all the negative stuff anymore and would be happy to be a size 10. Like so many of you, lose 2 stone.

Ihope that this is ok to ask to join you. I need to approach this sensibly and healthily. I dont want this to take over my life. But, I want to be able to look ok, literally run after ds and be happy in my skin!

Already feel virtuous as I made mmm soup today, lots of veggies!

Happy New Year and Health and Happiness to you all and your norks!

Jahan · 02/01/2008 22:14

I actually remember hearing that diet coke stops you from losing weight. I'm going to see if I can find an article or something about it...

Jahan · 02/01/2008 22:17

Stay away from the stuff girls!

currantbunmum · 02/01/2008 22:20

Thanks for that link Jahan

susiecutiemincepies · 02/01/2008 22:46

Wow! that is fascinating! sadly, no quick fix for me then, as I dont drink alot, if any, diet coke or drinks. I just drink tea and water, oh and quite a lot of milk.

I need to cut out sugar from tea, which wont be too hard to do, as I only have half a spoon, and dont always have that. I DO have a spoon in a mug of hot milk at bed time, as it really does help me sleep, so a I dont think i should cut that out.

I could easily cut out little things like that though, with out drastically changing my diet to much, and becoming miserable.

The MOST important meal of the day girls, really is breakfast. I need to make sure i'm having a modest bowl of cereal every morning, or porridge, with an unrefined sugar such as honey, or a handful of dried cranberried or raisins. Also, increasing fibre intake in conjunction with plenty of water, to flush it through. REALLY REALLY important that you drink lots of water every day also. Mainly to help flush the digested food through your system.

I did lose about 6-7 lbs not that long ago, in about 2 weeks, simply by, cutting down on the added sugar, eating breakfast ( mainly porridge with honey and banana) and drinking 3L of water/ fluid ever day. It was really easy, and fairly painless really, oh, and I snacked on apples and pears and strawberries all day.

If I only practiced what I preached hey? I know all the theory, but for some reason cant quite get into it myself at the moment. maybe its just that i need to be more organized

katy Isobel has had a chest infection again, but is getting over it now, I now have it, and feel bloody rotten. Coughing is hurting my back so much. Plus i've been sick about 5 times today, due to different pain killers, and boy does that hurt, bending over the pan, heaving... TMI?

tangarine · 02/01/2008 23:20

Helllooo katybumpers old and new!

I have been very undieting over the last couple of weeks, so need a shove back on the waggon. I am doing my annual January detox so no caffeine, chocolate or alcohol until my birthday at the end of the month. So I got a whole month's worth in in the lead up to New Year .

See you all soon!

discoverlife · 03/01/2008 01:42

Thanks for asking about Ds's hand. It was fine, a bit sore in the morning and bruised but no lasting damage.

mylittlepudding · 03/01/2008 07:14

11 st 2. Could have been worse I suppose. Going to aim for 10st7 to start with.

Susie - where in Manchester? When???

The diet coke thing... I believe you. And I am truly, utterly, addicted.

currantbunmum · 03/01/2008 09:14

MLP just try to stop drinking it for a week, you really wont like the taste of it after a while, I cant stand it now, and it used to be the ONLY thing I would drink.
