Found it at the very last minute... we have some big trust issues... and today I have some HUGE childcare issues! Because I got the job! I am terrified beyond words, I have been out for so long

Thank you for all your lovely support.

MrsFish · 18/01/2008 08:15

well done mylittlepud.
so many questions to ask....will you fly every day....do they offer you peanuts(on the flight ,not in wage packet)....how long have you been away for?....what hours...what childcare?...but the peanut question seems most important at the mo'(must get brekkie!)

annieatno4 · 18/01/2008 09:55

Hi all,
Iam going WW, started last october and lost 3 stone, but tailed off after the summer! Anyway first weigh in last night after re joining and i have lost 2 pounds, which iam delighted with!
I have another 4 stone to lose, but trying to take it one week at a time!

Hope to get to know you all better over the coming weeks and months.
Annie

discoverlife · 18/01/2008 11:28

Congratulation MLP. BTW where was it? It may come in useful for us in the future as a possible place to locate lost items, the weirder the better.
I have found a teapot in the fridge once, pg brain caused that one.
We have made contact with a local Home Educating family and are going for a visit and a chin wag. The chin wag being the most important aspect as everybody needs reasurance at one time or another that what they are doing is correct.

currantbunmum · 18/01/2008 11:44

Well done MLP

I'm so pleased for you, I was a bit worried that your lack of posts yesterday meant you were at breaking point, glad it was because you were at your interview.

PS. Did you get into the size 10 power suit?

belcantavinissima · 18/01/2008 12:58

hi girls

well done on the job mlp!

menu today-
b- 2 slicess ww bread toasted with smidge marmite
decaf coffee
l- no point soup and handful croutons on top
d-stir fry chicken thing with loads of chinese veg, lime and ginger (was going to have that last night but had no point soup instead)

discoverlife · 18/01/2008 18:04

So far beans on toast as Brunch.
And going out for a meal as its DS1's birthday, crikey its 22 years today since I made my Mum a grandmother, and sadly tomorrow is 22 years since my grandad died (he held on that 1 day to make hear about his first great grandchild). Happy/sad day today.

Jahan · 18/01/2008 18:07

Congratulations MLP. Thats really good.
I've been doing quite well over the last few days. I've been sticking to my 1/4 protein, 1/4 carb, 1/2 veg dinner plates.
Ds has done really well with his toilet training and hasn't been as stressful as I expected. It has however been very tiring traipsing up and down the stairs a hundred times a day and looking after the baby too.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Anyway, food;
porridge
pasta, pesto
lamb casserole, brown rice, veg
snacks - oatcakes, fruit, 1 digestive biscuit

mylittlepudding · 18/01/2008 19:00

THANK YOU all for the positivity. What a wonderful difference this place makes.

I've been indulging

Pleanty of peanuts, Polly, they only pay 18% tax maximum! It's a LAT - never believed I'd get that, went for a staff grade job.

I'll be living there for 6 months, with dd. Going to visit childminders next Wednesday, got several with vacancies. Looking good!

I am petrified!

pollywobbledoodle · 18/01/2008 20:57

Have been out of the loop for too long....is that a training post MLP? You're very brave going it alone with dd....having said that i bet 6 months will fly by! Good luck with sorting the childcare out. BTW i'm with discoverlife....where was it?

Hope he comes home and you can sort things out a bit susie...

well done on all the good menus.....have tried(in the face of bored hunger and hubby's treat filled shopping)to keep mine reasonable today but am doing so little physically because i've been so tired that i expect my weight will go up ...hopefully it will only crawl!!

brekkie...special k
mids 1 crumpet and marmite
lunch low fat cream cheese and salad sarnie. small piece of spanish almond nougat tart
eve small portion oven fish, chips and mushy peas. satsuma. oops was that another piece of that spanish stuff disappearing into my open maw?

pollywobbledoodle · 18/01/2008 21:42

mylittlepud
i don't have experience of going back after mat leave but did go back into a training post after travelling for a year. I'd forgotten common dosages and had to look them up (my boss was alright AFTER he knew i'd been away for a bit!) but they came back quite quickly and the other stuff with patients was fine.

When i was planning to go back after mat leave my boss suggested i spend the first week shadowing various others clinicians before diving in properly....partly for the clinical re-introduction but also for the basic know how for that job(what forms, which protocol, which manager etc). Could you negotiate something with your bosses and the person in post along those lines or even just sit in on a few clinics/ward rounds so that you don't get hit with everything afresh on day 1.

The other good advice i was given was to start dd in childcare setting a few weeks before i actually started back, so that i had a bit of catch up time and also that i knew she would be ok and wasn't hit with a rush of "leaving my baby" emotions on top of the going back to work ones

sorry others on the thread, that was a bit long

MrsFish · 18/01/2008 21:48

Hello everyone,

B=Cereal bar, orange juice
S=Toast x 1, chockie biscuit, at toddler group, would have been rude to refuse
L=3 clementines, a banana
D=Quorn, vegie, and noodle stir fry, with black bean sauce

MLP We did have a couple of friends that worked in the General Hospital on the IOM. They had a great time there, myself and DH both worked in the General on Jersey, there is something about island life, I'm sure you will love it.

Especially the tax rate

currantbunmum · 18/01/2008 22:37

MLP agree with Polly re starting DD in nursery for a couple of weeks before you start work, just to get both of you used to the routine and seperation. It worked for us, the first day I sat in nursery carpark and sobbed, and gradualy worked myself further away.

katylessbumpy · 18/01/2008 22:42

Good night, Katy.

discoverlife · 18/01/2008 23:59

Oh dear, a 3 course meal, and a bottle of Chardonnay. Ime going to either.

  1. crash and burn
  2. or go to hell for tonight. But it was lovely and friendly, and happy making time. DH is sleeping on sofa tonight. He's gassing the whole house out.
fedda · 19/01/2008 00:08

That's a good tip for my DH.

katylessbumpy · 19/01/2008 07:43

morning ,bleurgh
why do my dc never sleep in on a saturday?
my head feels a litle less ouch this morning, have found my glasses so can see the screen alittle better
my diet is going ok.i'm making a real effort with excercise too.just walking around the living room with dd the other night i managed to do 5000 steps and she didn't even fall asleep!
food wise, lots of fruit and veg, more than my 5-a day,i don't feel like i've lost anything though, might have a sneaky weigh on my scales

anyway,it's raining again in sunny manchester so today will involve me pottering round the house inbetween getting wet taking ds1 and ds2 to football,oh my life is so glam x

currantbunmum · 19/01/2008 07:50

Discoverlife Glad to hear you had a good night, don't crash and burn, it's only one night.

A French friend of mine told me the way that French women eat so well, but stay slim is to "eat lightly" the day after indulging, and it sort of cancels out the naughtiness. So lots of fruit and drink water and not to many carbohydrates. It seemed to work for her. I tried it earlier this week when I had been out for a girly night, and fingers crossed for weigh in next week.

currantbunmum · 19/01/2008 08:01

Katielessbumpy If it's any consolation, it's raining here in Cheltenham. We have just started to have "lie in's" on a Saturday, we let DD's go downstairs and watch an hour of CBeebies, whilst we snuggle down for an extra hour. But this morning I really couldn't lie there, aargh! I'll be desperate to stay in bed tomorrow, when we are getting up at 7am to go swimming.

Wish I was in Manchester, I could go and visit all my family.

Have a good time at the football.

And no "meat growlers" at half time
