Near enough 3 months until the end of the year. I am determined not to go into 2022 the same weight as I am now. I have yoyo’d the last two years and want to just get to my goal and be a stable and healthy weight. I have 2 stone to go.

Anybody else starting September 1st and want to write meals daily with me?

@Handsoffstrikesagain

I can thoroughly recommend fasting to get the weight off. It stays off as well. So many benefits to doing it and takes the relationship with food completely out of the equation.
I can’t fast because my thyroid. I need to strictly control my calories but I feel cold and horrible if I try to fast.

It does work really well for some people

notlisteningwithmother · 03/09/2021 11:16

Morning all, and thanks BellaElla for starting the thread.

I'm just starting too - holidays are over, school is back, and after yo-yo-ing with healthy eating / weight loss in the earlier summer I really need to ditch the bad habits. I just feel sluggish and lazy at the moment, and my diet is awful. Snack addiction.

But the cupboards are bare, a 'healthy' online supermarket order is coming tomorrow, and I'm working on the assumption that if something isn't in the house then I can't eat it.

I'm trying to find distractions too - taking a walk, doing some chores, online exercise video etc in my breaks from work, rather than eating as much as I can before plonking myself back down in front of the TV.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 03/09/2021 11:47

Morning all (just about)

@Handsoffstrikesagain which fasting method do you use?

I tried 5:2 a few years ago with limited success and have considered 16:8 but haven't investigated properly...

PutYourBackIntoit · 03/09/2021 12:36

Hi Everyone,

Hope it's not too late to join. I really need the accountability.

I joined a fat loss local group and it was great, but I am no longer signed up to it and I can do this on my own as long as I am accountable somewhere!

My plan is to:

Stareat 1500 calories a day, with 70g protein, logged on mfp.
Star Squats, axe chops or wall push ups every single morning, no exception to a different song. I'm happy to share a YouTube clip here each night if others would benefit from that Smile
Star One PT session a week, and aim for as many steps a day as possible.
Star Log here each evening like a journal what exercise I've done, what I've eaten and how I'm feeling. I'll weigh in once a fortnight.

I have 3 stone to lose, and a lot of confidence to try and get back Blush
Going to start logging from Monday...

Secondary school induction day for DD today, so we're probably going out for curry tonight to celebrate - will have to try and pick the least worst option.

But on the plus side, I repeated Wednesday's scrambled egg lunch which is good - usually I'd just write off the whole day. And I haven't snacked since I started on Wednesday - but now the weekend is coming...

@BookShark well done on sticking to it yesterday even though you had your meal out planned, it's so hard not letting one 'off plan' meal ruin your whole day isn't it. Did you have your curry?

@Handsoffstrikesagain do you find it easier not eating for a whole day rather than cutting down calories every day? How do you keep yourself occupied and your mind off food? I absolutely would not have the willpower ha!

My week is going well so far, treated myself to a bag of Doritos and bar of whole nut last night (just the small bar!) and I'll probably do something similar tonight along with a can of Coke. Hoping to get out for a big walk today to burn off some extra calories aswell. Ive been doing a workout (not sure you can call it a workout really) on the treadmill called 12-3-30...has anyone heard of/done it? You walk at 12 incline, 3mph for 30 minutes. It's harder than it sounds and I end up pretty sweaty at the end!

Morning all, just checking in.

Another successful day for me yesterday, I've really surprised myself that I am trying really hard to stick to the plan.

@mner1896 whole nut is food of the gods. My favourite 😁

I have stopped the Diet Coke as from Wednesday, I've had a permanent headache but I've gone from four cans a day to zero. I really miss it, more so than chocolate of which I am totally addicted.

BookShark · 04/09/2021 17:02

Libertine I was a massive Diet Coke addict a couple of years ago but have completely stopped now - I just drink sparkling water instead. It is difficult giving up though, but I think you're right about going cold turkey. And although I occasionally have some now if I'm out, I really don't miss it.

I did have my curry, but no starter and only a small amount of naan so hopefully not too much damage done. And I've walked 5 miles today which should burn off a few calories! Prawn salad for lunch, and then we're having paella for tea, but lunch was so low calorie that I think that should all work out.

A sneaky weigh in this morning said I was 3lbs down since Wednesday. I know the first few pounds are the easiest, but it was still nice and encouraging!

LibertineEyes · 05/09/2021 13:28

Hope everyone is ok,

How are you doing @BellaElla99 ?

Cazzovuoi · 05/09/2021 17:19

I met my Protein goal today but need to watch the fat for the rest of the day. Will weigh in tomorrow morning.

I’m having a slice of protein bread with a boiled egg for tea because I’m not really very hungry.

The concept of the Protein Priority Meal is a game changer. Once I eat enough protein in my first meal I don’t eat much for the rest of the day.

PutYourBackIntoit · 05/09/2021 20:04

First day for me tomorrow.

PT at 5pm after full on working day and smalls first day back in primary (and I can't take them - feeling guilty).

Tomorrow morning I'll be doing squats all the way through to this....

BookShark · 05/09/2021 23:29

So food has been okay over the weekend, but there's definitely been some wine! Weigh in is Wednesday so I'll try and have another couple of good days and see how it goes - in an ideal world, the perfect compromise is a healthy midweek and less healthy weekend, but only if the overall trend is down...

DD starts secondary school properly tomorrow, so I'm thinking this might be a good opportunity to get up, walk her to the station and then back for some exercise before logging on for work at 9am. Will be a change from my current routine of getting out of bed at 8.45am for a 9am start (I'm still working from home post-Covid) but that may not be a bad thing!

PutYourBackIntoit · 06/09/2021 21:06

I hope secondary school went well for your dc @BookShark and they enjoyed their day!

So tomorrow I'll be doing wall push ups to this.

I've had a good day, stuck to my 1500 calories:
Overnight oats, 5% yoghurt.
Chicken Tikka & salad wrap
Protein bar
Tofu curry (no rice)

I've had 1 hr PT ( not sure I'll be able to move tomorrow) and 9753 steps.

Tomorrow will be much harder as I'm working from home...but I feel ready for this now.

Oh and I weighed myself 82.5kg...heaviest I've been yet Confused

PutYourBackIntoit · 07/09/2021 20:14

Today my calories are circa 1500:

Overnight oats, yoghurt &tsp honey
Ploughman's lunch
Mindful chef meal (minus carbs)
2 bathtub gin & tonic

Exercise 11500 steps. Wall push ups to song.

Tomorrow I'll do squats to this:

I hope everyone else is doing well and coping with the heat 🙏

It's my v anxious 12 Yr olds first day at a specialist provision tomorrow. I'm nervous as I have to be at work by 10am so I have limited time to be flexible if she panics.

Cazzovuoi · 07/09/2021 21:08

@Handsoffstrikesagain

How is everyone getting on?
Down 4kg in two weeks!!!!
mner1896 · 07/09/2021 21:41

Sorry I haven't been active much, the stress of being back to work has meant I haven't had it in me to post Sad I'm happy that I haven't let my stress ruin my progress though, I would usually just eat my feelings but the past couple of days I've stuck to my diet and been getting my steps in. Currently 10stone 4lbs, will be really pleased if I can get under 10stone by the end of the month!

PutYourBackIntoit · 08/09/2021 07:48

That's great @mner1896 and @Cazzovuoi, I can only dream of being 10st again and to lose 4kg in 2 weeks is incredible!
Impressive to be able to continue on the path even when work is stressful.

My daughter needs to be at her provision at 9.15, and she didn't manage any sleep last night. I'm desperate for her to make her first day as she hasn't made it to mainstream since March and so this would hugely boost her confidence.

Amazonmulu · 08/09/2021 08:26

Can I join please?

Today is day 1.

I really need to make this one stick. None of my clothes fit and both my parents have had cancer (mum died) linked to being overweight. I really want to cut my risk by being a healthy weight.

Chocolate is how I deal with life. I cope with anything, push my way through the day, put my little girl down at 8pm and then eat a family sized chocolate bar in bed.

So my teeth are suffering and I'm at 12st 7lb which is obese for my height.

I have a health assessment through work on the 19th October - so that's my goal to drop 16lb in (just under) 6w.

My plan is:
1200 calories a day
3 x 5km run a week
Weight bearing exercise x 3 week
Log all my food on MyFitnessPal
Fasting 16:8, Meals 10am, 2pm, 5:30pm.

I'm hoping that's enough to do 16lb/6w 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Cazzovuoi · 08/09/2021 10:38

@PutYourBackIntoit the Protein Priority Diet has been a game changer for me. I lost 7 stone doing low carb but I was getting so hungry on 1200 calories so started to gain weight again.

Changing my diet to higher protein but still low carb has transformed everything. I’m never hungry and it’s just falling off now!
