NEW SLIMMING WORLD THREAD - IT'S NEARLY CHRISTMAS - HOW ARE WE DOING????

Sparkler · 24/11/2007 20:49

Had to start a new thread peeps as the old one was too long to accept any new messages. How's it going?
I'm sad to say after my positive note on starting the previous thread, I'm having a terrible time of things. I've really slipped. So, I need you to all shout at me and get me back on track. I don't mind what you say or how you say it. I can handle it.

3.5lb off this week for me

unfortunately, LL, I'd miscalculated and I actually had FOUR to lose to get to 2 stone, not 2, so you can still beat me

lurcherlass · 20/12/2007 11:01

OOh I don't think so Mamma, I've just been given a HUGE box of Thorntons continental and they're only going one way..down the hatch Well done for your loss, that's brilliant at this time of year !!!

supersaluki · 20/12/2007 12:52

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 20/12/2007 13:36

Wow, supersaluki, a 5st loss is awesome! welcome to the thread.

Scared to eat today as I keep messing up, I've had a banana and an apple so far today. I'm determined to lose something by sunday or I'm going to throw out all the snacks and just eat rice and veg.

lurcherlass · 20/12/2007 17:46

Welcome supersaluki, this question will either make complete sense to you, or you will think I am mad. "Do you have a saluki?" (mysterious face)

supersaluki · 20/12/2007 19:23

Thanks for the welcome- and yes my 5 stone was awesome I surprised myself as it was one third of my body weight - but that is why I am choosing slimming world again as I KNOW it works - best healthy eating plan ever

Lurcherlass
the question makes complete sense
According to my vet I have a saluki - she is just wearing the wrong coat - she is brindle - vet says she is a real one but as a rescue we dont know
I also have a retired greyhound and a saluki collie x

I am assuming you have a lurcher or two

lurcherlass · 20/12/2007 20:10

Indeed I do! Bedlington X Whippet, also rescues. They look like miniature deerhounds. Nice to have another lurcherlass on the team!
My DH, my DS and my dogs are all skinny and can eat anything, unlike their Mum They say we are drawn to dogs who have characteristics that we admire (long slim legs?!)
I made the most delicious meal tonight, SW Lamb Tagine. I made it on a green day, with a whole packet of Ainsley Morrocan cous-cous to go with it. I was getting a little bit bored, which is fatal for me. I left the dried apricots out, to make it syn-free, next time I might try making just a veggie one

Chloe55 · 20/12/2007 20:41

Oooh I have an Irish Wolfhound cross (he looks like one but just not quite the same size), I love Deerhounds!

Help me please ladies - I am at a Mexican tomorrow, what the hell should I eat???!

Sparkler · 20/12/2007 22:09

I missed weigh in tonight for the second week in a row. Last week it was DDS' Rainbow and Brownie carol service and for the last two days I've been laid up with a pulled calf muscle. Went to keep fit Tuesday and "bam" there it went. I'm feeling very fed up at the moment as I've been unable to go anywhere or do anything. Sounds bliss to most people but it's doing my nut. I had so much planned this week before DDs break up from school tomorrow lunch time. I've been comforting myself on lots of chocolate.

So if you have plain boiled rice and a vegetable chilli on a green day it'll only be 3 1/2 syns. I think it's about 1 syns per tortilla chip, and 3 syns for salsa. (But I'd spend the rest of my syns on booze!)

Hope youre feeling better sparkler, your leg sounds painful! Do some upper body work while you can't move about. Lift some tins of beans!

lurcherlass · 21/12/2007 18:37

Chloe, remember the old Alfred on Heartbeat? and have you noticed the Dingles have one like ours, too. Sounds like your boy is a distant cousin of ours Just made SW rice pudding- not bad at all. I had a brain-wave, I'm gonna have it for breakfast tomorrow to save my HEB's for later.I do like my carbs for breakfast

lurcherlass · 21/12/2007 19:25

Anyone tell me the password this week? just tried chestnut, that's not working any more. I think I'm gonna need it this week!

supersaluki · 21/12/2007 19:36

I think its

party

lurcherlass · 21/12/2007 19:56

Thankyou my little lurcher-lover, that works! Just gonna find out what damage I've done

supersaluki · 21/12/2007 20:31

I wish I was little

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 21/12/2007 22:56

Not looking forward to the weigh in on sunday, I'll be really disheartened if I haven't lost anything, or worse- if I've put some on! I've had three periods in the space of 5 weeks though so my weight could be a little hard to track because of water retension. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Well I made a weird sortof fake meatloaf last night that's almost free and I've been scoffing it all day! The ingredients list sounds really odd but I swear it was quite nice if a little bland but that was my fault because I'm a chronic under-seasoner.

Half a bag quorn mince
1 onion
1 tin baked beans, mashed
small carton of passata
small tub of plain cottage cheese
1 slice of wholemeal bread grated into crumbs
two large potatoes boiled and chopped
tomato puree
allsorts of spices (I used mixed herbs, chilli, bit of curry, some soy sauce, salt n pepper)
1 beaten egg to bind

Brown onion and mince in frylight, add mashed baked beans, cooked chopped potato, breadcrumbs, cottage cheese, passata and tomato puree and mix. Add spices and seasoning to your own liking, add beaten egg and mix thoroughly. Either shape into small balls/burgers/sausage shapes and bake on a baking tray for 20 mins, or pile into greased loaf tin and bake until the top is crunchy and brown. Keeps well in the fridge and can be cut into slices, or used as pate on ryvitas/scanbran etc. If shaped into balls they have the texture of onion bhajis.

supersaluki · 22/12/2007 10:47

now that sounds nice I think I might make one on those for myself while the others all eat left overs

lurcherlass · 22/12/2007 16:49

Sounds like a nice concoction James, I will try that. I make a similar thing, leaving out the cottage cheese and bread and swapping the potatoes for cooked rice, tip it into a casserole dish and bake it in the oven with HEA mozzarella cheese sprinkled over. I take it to work and microwave it. More filling than a titchy sandwich

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/12/2007 23:44

Ooh, sounds interesting, I'm always looking for good filling free carby meals- for me, pasta n sauce or savoury rice are godsends with a few chickpeas or some frozen mixed veg stirred in.

Weigh in tomorrow- I've probably blown it though because I've had eight quality street and some veggie fried rice today. I'm cringing as I go to the website to see how many syns that comes to....

quality street- 2 syns each (so 16 syns then, OUCH)

Chinese Restaurant, Rice, fried, average portion 300g serving

Original 21½ Syns Green 4 Syns

oooh, maybe I haven't wrecked it then? 20 syns isn't that bad.

lurcherlass · 23/12/2007 14:12

Yeh, me too James, I've just rediscovered the "Savoury rice" sachets of my youth!
I've just been given some Thorntons Christmas pudding fudge!!!!! Looks delish too!!! Can't find it on the syn finder thing, but Rum and raisin is 6 syns per cube!!! Might be able to squeeze a few in tho hee hee
Just made (in my slo-cooker) pork with fruity saffron sauce, from the saucy secrets book. Just need to stir on some yoghurt and a few sultanas towards the end. Is it me, coz I just can't get in the mood for Christmas

lurcherlass · 23/12/2007 17:44

Actually, it's 6 syns per 1oz, not per cube. Sad cow that I am, I weighed the cubes and I can have 4 for 6 syns...The pork thing was really nice as well, I can recommend that .
100g of pork on a green day, isn't much, but I had a big pile of rice

boHOHOhemianbint · 24/12/2007 12:56

Hello,

Is anyone else falling off the wagon this Christmas? I just can't be arsed with all the counting things over the festive period...

lurcherlass · 24/12/2007 18:19

Well Boho, I've been as good as gold, cooking SW recipes and counting syns up til now...but it's 6pm on Christmas eve, I've just had 2 HUGE G & T's and I fear it's all down hill from here
Have a good one girls!be back after Boxing day, all bloated and full of new resolve!

kid · 24/12/2007 21:43

I have had a week well and truely off SW but still weighed in on Monday. I weighed in more out of curiosity that anything else and I have gained 1lb. I wasn't disappointed with that gain, I have stuffed my face for the past week so was expecting a lot worse!
Another week off SW to do more damage, hopefully it won't be too bad, but I will get back to it just as soon as I finish eating all the chocolates!

Sparkler · 26/12/2007 14:06

Hiyah everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day.
Well I have really gone for it (and why not? ) - loads of booze and yummy grub. Yum. Still lots to tempt me around here though - ah well. It's only once a year .
Unfortunately, it's my weigh in night tomorrow night and I will be going. It's a case of having to as I've missed the last two weeks due to going to DD1's school christmas concert one night and the other due to being laid up with a pulled calf muscle. Glad to say that I'm on the mend now and hope to try and get back to the gym asap, I've really missed it! If I don't get back to group soon I shall have to pay to join again and I don't want to do that as I've already joined SW five times in total .
Anyway, enjoy the rest of your Chrimbo peeps and I shall speak to you soon.
Love Sparkler xx
