NEW SLIMMING WORLD THREAD - IT'S NEARLY CHRISTMAS - HOW ARE WE DOING????

Had to start a new thread peeps as the old one was too long to accept any new messages. How's it going?
I'm sad to say after my positive note on starting the previous thread, I'm having a terrible time of things. I've really slipped. So, I need you to all shout at me and get me back on track. I don't mind what you say or how you say it. I can handle it.

People try to make you overindulge to make themselves feel better about overindulging, simple as that. Just smile and say you couldn't possibly fit anymore in and you're surprised they can. They'll soon shut up.

I'm trying to cultivate a sense of smugness about saying no to things. I don't know about anyone else but I always envied sylph-like friends who would always decline puddings or snacks, whereas I could never resist. When we used to go for meals I was always the only one looking at the dessert menu as everyone else would be stuffed.

Now though I try to decline everything, and feel my halo rise a little every time I do it. I feel stronger like this than if I say "oh, go on then, just one" because that leads to me inaccurately guesstimating how many syns are in things and taking "just one more" and "last one"...

Slimming world tonight, I'm hoping for 3lb but we'll see!

Chloe55 · 17/12/2007 15:06

I'm hoping to join you on the 3lb loss James but it might be slightly wishful thinking.

kid · 17/12/2007 17:10

Well I didn't lose anything this week, but I am pleased that I didn't gain anything either!
Right, I need to really go for it this week as Monday will be my last weigh in before I over indulge on Christmas day.

lurcherlass · 17/12/2007 17:18

One of the reasons I wanted to lose weight, was because my blood pressure was high. It is now in the normal range. I still fall back on that, when people try to press unwanted food on me, "Doctors orders- I have high blood pressure". That usually shuts them up, they don't want to be responsible for me keeling over Going to weigh tomorrow, not feeling optimistic tho, as I had two do's last week!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 17/12/2007 20:01

I didn't lose anything either kid. Quite surprised actually as I did think I'd had a good week, but I suppose having done quite well in the first couple of weeks maybe I relaxed a little too much? My consultant asked if I was due on but I couldn't say for sure as my periods have only just returned after having my baby and they're all over the place. I suppose time will tell.

Going to be fairly strict this week and write everything down, determined to lose next week!!!

Everyone brought in some party food today, I took some spicy chickpeas and most people liked them (they're all gone) one lady had made a dessert which looked really nice- I think it was just crushed meringues, mullerlight yoghurt and mixed berries- looked tasty, might try it.

One lady in my group grinds up a load of scanbran in her pestle and mortar every morning and eats it with low fat natural yoghurt and chopped banana, she says it's given her weight loss a real boost.

kid · 17/12/2007 22:54

To commiserate my no loss, I treated myself to some lovely chocolate. Not many but I didn't care about the sin value tbh. I had some orange segment chocolates and they were delicious. I seem to have lost the fancy for chocolate though as I could only manage 4. Usually I could have quite easily have scoffed the whole box!

I am acually feeling really ill. My body is aching so much, I don't know if its because I have been shivering so much from the cold, or its because my over use of the wii, or if I am coming down with something. Whatever the reason, its not nice

Chloe55 · 18/12/2007 09:05

Well done on the maintains. I lost........4lbs!!! I'm actually gobsmacked because although I did stick at it I wasn't expecting such a big loss, I think the gym is def contributing aswell though.

We also had a bit of a fuddle and I made those baked apples with mincemeat, bloody gorgeous!

hazel158882 · 18/12/2007 10:40

Hi Everyone!

So sorry I haven't been on for a while, I had a horrible chest infection and I have only just gotten over it.

As for the weight loss, well I'm 14 weeks pregnant now and I have gained 1lb since I got my positive test.
I do weight alot so thats not really the way I want to be going but I have had a terrible craving for milk, I just can't get enough of it and have been putting away 4 pints a day

No Amount of hex or syns can cope with that so I suppose the weight gain is to be expected.

Well done to all of those who have lost, you are all doing great!
And to those who have stayed the same or gained...I know how you feel! lol

Anyway have to dash, speak soon
Hazel

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 18/12/2007 11:52

Well done Chloe! Oh I quite fancy that apple mincemeat pud too, might try it later!

Hazel, wow what a truly healthy craving! Go with it, your body needs all that calcium- it'll do you good. Don't worry about the extra milk, did you know that on the SW plan pregnant and breastfeeding mothers can have extra healthy extra a choices? I was given a leaflet about it but I've chucked it away now, if you ask your consultant she should be able to tell you more about it.

Hope you're feeling better soon kid.

kid · 18/12/2007 18:59

I feeling a bit better, just so tired but thats due to too many late nights so no sympathy needed!

I am going to bow out of SW until after Christmas now. I am not going to over indulging everyday, but I am going to enjoy not being so restricted. I have managed to lose 11lb since the summer, so I am hoping (desperately) that I don't put that much on over Christmas.

I will be back with SW either straight after Christmas or after the New Year, it depends on how much food we have left!

Well done to you all, you are doing great and are an inspiration to me

lurcherlass · 18/12/2007 20:27

Like Kid and James, I maintained this week. I was quite relieved as I'd been to 2 do's. I've had compliments about how "trim" I was looking, so I'm cool with that. I'd like to maintain over Christmas. Only 2lbs to go to reach my 2 stone, so I'll really knuckle down after the New Year.
I've just discovered Weight watchers frozen deserts, the toffee sunday thing is nice.

nikkid21 · 19/12/2007 13:30

Put on 2lb this week. Not surprised as I've not been writing down what I eat and the mince pie count has been quite high. i stick to plan for meals but the extra snacky bits are what do me in.
Never mind, i'll be happy if i can maintain over Xmas.
Nikki

cherryredretrochick · 19/12/2007 13:51

After losing 3.5lbs last week, I have been absolultly terrible this week, all the play group parties have excess of crappy food and I have lost all will power, Am having a breast reduction next week so know I won't be able to go to the gym for quite a while. need to keep some sort of check on things as could put on a lot of weight while laid up. On the plus side i know I will lose a couple of pounds with no effort next week

lurcherlass · 19/12/2007 16:30

Hope all goes well cherryredretrochick, that's a Christmas gift with a difference! One of my mates had that done last year and she has never been happier. She says its the best thing she ever did. She can run now, which she wouldnt do before, as she was too self-concious of her bouncing lady-bumps!

missiesparkles · 19/12/2007 16:36

lost 3lbs this week which was a bit of a cheat as I couldn't really eat anything syn-filled due to tooth being pulled out - in 5 pieces I might add!!

however, I got my brand new sparkly 1.5 stone sticker YIPPIE!!

cherryredretrochick · 19/12/2007 16:41

I love getting sparkly stickers, see it isn't just toddlers it works for.

cherryredretrochick · 19/12/2007 16:44

LL, can't wait, I have heard that back pain can actually stop straight away, I'm not sure how you would notice though with all the friont pain . I am also petrified at the same time, never really been in hospital or anything before expect with dc. sad about missing xmas but we are having it early in our house. Still haven't decided whether to go tonight or not. I hate paying somebody to tell me I have put weight on, might get mre back on track though.

missiesparkles · 19/12/2007 16:45

LOL. its so true!

they look so pretty all lined up othe front of my book sigh can I lose another 7lbs before my next weigh in (2 weeks) thus getting me another sticker AND my club 10???

I think xmas MAY get in the way

cherryredretrochick · 19/12/2007 17:24

eat loads of xmas cake, always has you know what effect on me. a bit like scan bran but a hell of a lot nicer

merryCHRISTIEmas · 19/12/2007 19:32

Oh dear - we had Christmas dinner at school today.
I had Christmas Dinner

I had Christmas Pudding . . .

. . . with custard

and we all had chocolates this morning and this afternoon while watching the staff pantomime

Feeling very cross with myself for being so indulgent bloody greedy!!

D'you think I can just write off today and start tomorrow with a clean slate??

missiesparkles · 19/12/2007 19:36

definitely... its only ONE day. don't think 'stuff it!!' and just slip into bad habits because you feel guilty!! one day at a time remember

cherryredretrochick · 19/12/2007 19:57

She's right avery flexible day, start again tommorow. I have lost 0.5lb can't believe it, no idea how, well if I can do that being naugty what could I do if I behave? Will not be able to go afian for quite some time but am now only 1.5lb above my original target so should be able to get back if I behave this week.

merryCHRISTIEmas · 19/12/2007 20:59

Thanks missiesparkles & cherryredretrochick

missiesparkles · 19/12/2007 21:29

no worries
I myself am being a little naughty and having a few drinkies - again but sod it, its christmas, I'm still sticking to the food part of the diet and I'm hardly going to suddenly put back on a whole 21lbs over 2 weeks now am I?

no - FLEXIBLE SYNS ALL THE WAY!!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 19/12/2007 22:41

Arse arse arse. I was trying to be good today but I keep forgetting to check my book/write things down/plan ahead and I managed to go through 20 syns (forgot I'd had a fudge bar earlier in the day and had an extra hifi bar)

I'm doing it all wrong and I'm going to maintain/put weight on again when I go on sunday.
