6 stone to lose - my journey!

Hi everyone, long-time lurker here but decided to pop my head up and talk about my weight loss journey which I have just begun.

49 years old, yo-yo dieter for approx 20 years. Never have much problem loosing weight, just can't keep it off. So, I joined Slimming World on Wednesday and have around 6 stone to lose. So far I have lost 3lb, which is to be expected in week 1. Very much enjoyed the group meeting, and the meals/recipes are good too.

So far, so good. Anyone else on their journey too?
@73kittycat73 - It's not TMI, it's quite interesting thanks. Since I started my diet I have been fairly regular, but sometimes, like now, not so much. Makes sense that changing the diet can have that effect, but I do try to keep up my fibre intake and fluids. As I said earlier, I wonder if it has any impact of weight, i.e. a good naturel purge is key!
I dunno but I hate getting on the scales without one!

picklemewalnuts · 28/06/2021 20:39

Totally on plan today!
Cheese and salad for lunch, bacon chop, egg, small jacket and salad for dinner.

Tomorrow won't be, but I will only have one meal albeit a big one!

StanleyOscar · 29/06/2021 12:20

Dash it! I've put on 1lb today. Looks likely that this weeks SW weigh in is going to be a 'Maintained' which is a pain after loosing 5lbs last week. I have done a lot of exercise this week though, and the inches have decreased.

Just goes to show that the body and weight loss works in mysterious way, I think it is witchcraft?

How's everyone else doing?

Ok-ish.
Weighed in this morning at 6.30am and was a stay the same. Fair enough.
Had my breakfast, weighed in again at 9.15am and 1lb off.
Looking forward to moving to weekly weigh ins as could easily mess with my head (I'm only weighing daily at the moment out of curiousity and wanting to see what makes me gain/lose) but was bemused by that.

You and @picklemewalnuts keep reminding me to measure. I might start on Monday. Eeek!

StanleyOscar · 29/06/2021 14:28

@WheresMyTweezers - I want your scales, they are very kind! Grin

Please do measurements, it really does help if the weight doesn't drop off.

Well I've eaten all sorts I shouldn't have, but it was all very tasty. I'll weigh Thursday to find out the damage.

StanleyOscar · 29/06/2021 18:04

@picklemewalnuts - I think it is one of those weeks for all of us, probably end of the month blues!

I will make myself feel better by going out and buying a new spin-bike. Grin

Good plan!

sadperson16 · 29/06/2021 18:52

Ask SW for their data on longterm weight loss.

73kittycat73 · 29/06/2021 19:02

Aww, sorry to hear about the extra pound StanleyOscar. At least though you've maintained and not put any weight on. Well done also for the decrease in measurements! Star I might have lost 5lb but mine didn't really budge. Sad Hopefully they'll catch up soon.
I wish I could lose pounds from eating WheresMyTweezers Grin I couldn't do weighing daily, couldn't deal with the tension! lol
Good luck for Thursday picklemewalnuts. Smile Glad you at least found what you ate tasty!
I have a new goal that can work in with weight loss/exercise. I spoke to my counsellor today and as I have done the chippy, my new goal is in the other direction, to get to, and use, The One Stop (convenience store.), so that means a good little walk tomorrow as have to go to the other local shop (In the opposite direction.) to post something too.

picklemewalnuts · 29/06/2021 20:59

Very good luck with that, kitty!

73kittycat73 · 30/06/2021 11:48

Good luck for today StanleyOscar! Star
Thank you picklemewalnuts. I shouldn't say it too loud but, whispers it's not supposed to rain today (Got caught out in it last time, got soaked!). I won't get to the actual shop today but will get very close. Smile Will report back later.

StanleyOscar · 30/06/2021 12:00

Well, weigh in today at Slimming World yielded no loss, or gain. I have done a lot of exercise this week, but it does seem to have stalled the weigh loss, probably due to muscle.

On the plus side, I did get Slimmer of the Month which I am really pleased about. Loving my Slimming World group, they are a great bunch of friendly people and the group leader is brilliant, she is always encouraging and very knowledgable.

I've only been doing it a month and lost a total of 1st 5lbs which is much better than I anticipated. I know from now on it will get harder, and the weight loss will slow up, which isn't a bad thing as it needs to drop at a healthy safe speed. So long as I lose weight each month and stick to this healthier way of life, it's all good. Smile

Awards for the month includes:

Half Stone Loss
Slimmer of the Week
First Stone Loss
Slimmer of the week (for the second time)
Slimmer of the Month

Next week I am hoping to get my 1.5 Stone Loss Award and so I need to lose a few pounds this week!

How's everyone else today?

@73kittycat73 - Any news on your trip to the shop? Good luck Smile

Very good Stanley!
I've put a little on, which isn't unexpected. Next week I'll be more active and still sensible despite being away. In an ideal world I'll lose a lb and get my next half stone, I won't be upset if I stay the same or even gain 1lb.

73kittycat73 · 30/06/2021 12:18

Well done for all the awards StanleyOscar"! Star And 1.5 stone in a month is awesome!
Haven't gone for a walk yet. I'm going with my mum but she's out at the moment. I'm also stalking a listing on Ebay and it's up at 1pm, no bids yet, wish me luck!

WheresMyTweezers · 30/06/2021 12:48

It'll all come off at some point @stanleyoscar

Funny about the exercise though. As mentioned I had an injury last year which left me immobile for a good few months and I suffered muscle wastage. I cut a lot of stuff out and focussed on nutrition but now I'm back on my feet and building up my muscles again/going on long walks I'd be expecting weight to fall off me and I do wonder if I've inadvertently done something to my metabolism over the last year?

@picklemewalnuts sounds a very level-headed approach and that's half the battle!

@73kittycat73 you sound like you're making great progress.

WheresMyTweezers · 30/06/2021 14:39

Oh and meant to say, I've eaten rubbish today. Will still finish the day relatively low on calories, but not much nutrition in there!

73kittycat73 · 30/06/2021 19:18

Right back at ya WheresMyTweezers! Grin You sound like you are doing so well. Star I did read that 16:8 fasting is supposed to speed up you metabolism, have you thought of doing that? We all need rubbish food days now and again, the important thing is you stuck to your calories!

73kittycat73 · 30/06/2021 19:21

Oh yeah, I won the listing! (A pair of gingerbread men slippers. Grin Supposedly for Christmas, but might make an appearance when I get them...) Also, went for my walk, got to the other side of the road to the shop! On Friday I'm planning to go again (Clearing out the shed tomorrow.) and will walk at least to the front door, if not inside.

picklemewalnuts · 30/06/2021 20:04

Oh great, well done! I'm home on my own sofa which is fabulous. Such a joy. My mum is truly batshit, frankly.

I loosely do 16:8. Essentially I don't do breakfast. Occasionally I'll have a yogurt or fruit.

Veuvelily · 30/06/2021 20:18

Well done on Slimmer of the month! Keep going!
I find it hard when the scales slow down after that initial first loss.
I’ve just broken it down into months which makes it look better I think

april 11lbs, only started on the 12th!
May 9 lbs
June 6-8 lbs.- I’m going to have official weigh in tomorrow, I’m going for those last 2 lbs which will make it 2 stone.
Then going to Wimbledon tomorrow and I fully intend to have a couple of Pimms!

Veuvelily · 30/06/2021 20:43

Met a friend tonight who has lost 5stone, 18stone down to 13. Since Christmas. He looks amazing

73kittycat73 · 30/06/2021 20:51

Hi Veuvelily Smile some fantastic losses there! I hope you have a lovely time at Wimbledon. Is there anyone in particular you want to watch?
Do you live with your mum ? picklemewalnuts? Mine lives next door! Shock Grin

picklemewalnuts · 30/06/2021 21:01

Lord no, Kitty! She or I would be 6ft under if we did. She's a truly difficult woman. Not eccentric, not incapable, incredibly frustratingly difficult and rude but with a veneer of civility that makes her socially acceptable. She has no friends, her relatives all avoid her, kind neighbours are starting to avoid parking near her...

I live 3 hours away. Grin
