I WILL be losing my lockdown stone, starting today! Anyone join me?

That's it. I have put on an extra lockdown stone. I want to get rid of the lockdown stone. I am going to do it, starting today. I am sick of it and my overeating!

Yesterday I snacked all day on rubbish, and then had a massive takeaway pizza for dinner. I feel bloated this morning. I'm 11s 1lb today.

It's been done a million times before here, but anyone want to shift a stone with me? Smile

@RaeRaeMama my slow cooker has got me through life since having a child (and working FT). MyFussyEater has some good simple recipes (if you are at weaning stage then I would highly recommend) that I just hung in slow cooker that we all enjoy. Casseroles, curries etc.

Also just chicken, frozen peppers, fajita seasoning in slow cooker. Drain excess liquid once cooked and add bit more seasoning. Fry off in a pan and it’s lovely in wraps or with rice!

And a slow cooker spag Bol with lots of hidden veg!

Sorry for the rambling post but thought a few ideas might help.

@RaeRaeMama not super duper 'from scratch' cooking but we've found that the Blue Dragon meal kits are fab, we had the massaman curry last night with homemade fried rice. Tomorrow we are haivng the Pad Thai, they're no more than 20 mins to make.

@chicazurafa M&S has been my saviour here. I get their salads, trays of flavoured prawns, chicken slices and some count on us meals for my lunch and dinner. I do the usually family meal for everyone else and if I can have it I do (3% fat mince bolognese without pasta for me, stir fry without noodles for me etc )
If I can’t I have a count on us meal and I have salads and prawns/ chicken for lunch. I can’t do the endless planning around multiple meals !!

Great pizza base idea! I'm going to try that!

I like doing a Quorn spag Bol. It doesn't take nearly as long as minced beef because Quorn mince only needs 8 mins to cook, compared to mince, and also mince needs browning separately.

I peel and roughly chop around 4-5 carrots, an onion, 3 cloves garlic and a courgette. I have a little mini Kenwood chopper blender thing - it's so easy to use and clean, so I whiz the veg up in that so it chops really really finely.

Then I lightly fry the finely chopped veg together in a heavy bottomed pan with a lid for a few mins, chuck in a 2 teaspoon of oregano, salt & pepper, good long squirt of tomato puree, a carton of passata (much nicer than tinned tomatoes!) and leave to simmer on very low heat with lid on for 20 ish minutes (if you like mushrooms, add them at this point). I put wholewheat spaghetti or twirls on to boil at that point too.

After 20 mins, stir in the Quorn mince, put the lid back on, simmer for 8 mins and that's it. Prep & frying off 5 mins, then not a lot to do except stir in Quorn after 20 mins and take pasta off when cooked. Really tast

I think I probably need to calorie count tbh. I find it very hard to properly portion control otherwise. I was looking in the “fast 800” cook book and everything in there is basically food I eat already, but just with 1/4 the amount of carbs!!

Today I have had ‘eggs in purgatory’ after watching Nigella last night.

Tonight I am going to have roasted veg with pasta, and just be careful with my pasta portion.

Merrygoround88 that sounds like a great suggestion, I'll check out M&S. My main vice is endless snacking, especially when the kids are at school and late evenings. I've eaten half a bag of marshmallows today whilst working and barely noticed them. But inspired by this thread took a break from work and did 10 mins of a joe wicks workout. Feel utterly shattered but maybe this is the start of healthier ways!

I tend to have two actual meals a day and just snack if I am hungry so I’m just trying to be mindful of making any snacks healthy. Went for a run this morning which felt great and I’m having a light tea of soup because DS is making apple crumble at school today and I want to eat some 😋

Well day one didn't really happen as I ended up eating all the crap in the house and finishing off the wine. But on the plus side, it's gone now, so today can only be better!

So far so good - went for a swim and then had an M&S bean chilli thing for lunch. Not sure what I'll do for tea, depends what DS feels like, but I've got enough calories left to cover the various options.

I'm currently 11st 2, would like to be closer to 10st 7, and ideally lower, but that's my first fish goal. I did actually get there over Christmas, but that was because I had Covid and didn't eat anything. Sadly it's all come back on since!

Evening all, not feeling great today and so instantly my brain thinks that means I can have/deserve a bottle of wine and a takeaway, the problem is my brain also does that when I'm tired, happy....any emotion really 😂

Day 2 - eggs again for breakfast, chicken and veg soup for lunch and pasta and meatballs for tea.

For us it's definitely been horrendous portion sizes so need to sort that out. Atrocious step count so far of under 3k but once baby is asleep ill do another yoga to help!

This all over. DH is working late - sod it, we'll get a takeaway. Someone annoyed me at work - ditto. And many other pathetic reasons, despite the fact that quite often, it's not as nice as something I'd cook.

Anyway, one sausage pasta later, that's me done for today. Not super low calories, but more or less on target, so that will do for now.

Another day! I managed a run this morning and I'm fasting until 12:15pm, which will be 18 hours. One thing I am trying to work out is how not to binge as soon as the time is up...

I'm at work today and need to pop out and get lunch, so I'm going to try and be mindful with the best the coop has to offer 😬

Hope all your days are going well

Hello,
I had quite a good day yesterday- mainly as I had a healthy lunch and then went to the dentist so couldn’t eat all afternoon! Saved!
Evening was fish curry followed by biscuits Blush
Today I did a body attack class and fasted until lunch. Had remains of the fish curry and a biscuit… big problem with sugar here.
Hope everyone has a good day Smile

I've had a snack of corncakes (rather than rice cakes) with sliced banana on top. I will be having seeded bread and beans for lunch.

Ah well done to everyone who's stuck to their plan, and keep going to anyone thinking of wavering! I think once past the first few awkward weeks it gets a bit better as new habits have had time to form.

I am literally the queen of "ah jack it in, so what" but that's why Ive had an extra lockdown stone for the best part of the year, losing a few pounds and instantly gaining them back it seems. I haven't exercised any willpower, and I don't care at the time, but I know I'll regret it afterwards!

Anyway, yesterday went well and I'm a pound down again - but I know this will grind to a halt around Saturday no matter what I do and that's exactly the point I'll start wanting to give in, but I'm just not blooming going to this time! Grin

I started trying to lose my lockdown stone a few weeks ago! A few ideas that have been helping:

  • I always have grapes in the fridge. Any time I want something sweet I have a few grapes. Often that’s enough for the craving to go

  • Cliche but I have a glass of water or cup of tea if I feel hungry. Again that often works

  • A proper dinner. Cutting back on dinner just doesn’t work for me, my willpower is lowest in the evenings so if I have a small dinner I’m likely to end up topping up with crisps or cereal later. Also hate going to bed hungry

  • Small, low carb lunch. A big part of how I put on the stone was having DH size lunches while he has been wfh. He is bigger than me and has a higher metabolism, annoyingly. Had to cut lunch right back

  • Stop baking and buying baked goods. If I have cake or (especially) biscuits in the house I will eat them. (Fell off this wagon yesterday...)

Haven’t really done any exercise but the weight has been coming off anyway ... exercise starts next week!!

@minipie I second you on the baking or baked goods. I just can’t have them in the house

For low cal snacks - popchips at 70 cals can scratch that crisps itch and fibre one choc brownie bar at 90 cals or Lidl high protein pudding at 165 cals do it for me

Went for another run today as the weather was nice and I won’t have much time until Sunday now. Sandwich for lunch, Spanish rice and salad for dinner. Will probably have a little snack with a cup of tea later on. Day 3 of no booze which is good going for me!

Well done on your run and healthy day today FauxFox!

Great tips minipie. I love grapes too as a snack, especially red seedless. I also love cucumber slices but then I'd probably want it with cheese chunks.. defeats the object!

merrygoround I couldn't stop at one bag of those pop chips, I've had the BBQ ones and they are too good! Grin

I was so very tempted an hour ago to have a big bowl of bran flakes (with sugar, of course) which would no doubt be followed by toast and/or a packet of crisps because "why not", but I am glad to say I avoided all that, I had one Rich Tea instead and I think the urge has gone. Smile Evenings are my danger zone!

Thanks @DandelionRose Grin

No time for any exercise today so far and the weather looks rubbish so unless my son is super keen for a walk in the drizzle after tea then today’s steps will be v low... salad with falafel and hummus for lunch and I’m doing hoisin duck noodles with spring rolls for dinner.

Can I join you guys please? Between March and now I've put on the stone I lost last year. I don't know if it's related but i had my covid vaccine in March, so did my housemate and they have also put on weight, so has a friend who had hers at the same time. All 3 of us do a lot of exercise. Weird coincidence it may be but it seems too much of one.

I'm in the gym every day again, just as I was last year and I'm not seeing any change. I haven't changed what I eat and I upped my cardio, weights, sets and reps in the gym so it's not as if I'm not putting the effort in. My waist definition has gone and even at my biggest I had waist definition so that has frustrated me.

So I need to lose this stone to get me back on track, I was supposed to be a stone off my target yesterday instead I'm 2 stone away and feeling completely demoralised.

Baking my mum's birthday cake this morning, then off to the gym, then will go for walk later.

How’s everyone getting on? My progress is reeeeaaallly slow, and my weight fluctuates quite a bit, so it’s a bit hard to measure progress. But I got a 10st 6 on the scales on Saturday when I was hovering around 10st 8/9 a couple of weeks ago, so I’m taking that.
Trying to eat only a very light lunch & no carbs in the evening. But still having a glass of wine as I need some joy in my life during this endless pandemic and endless rain!
Keep remembering that successful weight loss is the thousands of decisions you make over many months- as long as the majority are good you’ll keep going in the right direction.

I have my first post-lockdown exercise class tonight. I'm looking forward to it but also not looking forward to it as I think I'll really struggle after so long lol but it will be good to see people!
