Thought I would start a new thread. Hoping that April will be a better month for all of us, especially with places opening up again and hopefully continued better weather.

Weighed in at 9st4 this morning. I'm not setting a weight goal this month, instead I'll be focusing on trying to improve my fitness and general well being. Hoping that a bit of weight loss might follow.

I don't expect that long term, but I've always had an almost daily loss in the first week in the past. Maybe it keeps getting harder as we get older. I also walk about 10000 steps daily and cycle 15 to 20 km 4 times a week. I'm sure I'll get there.

AprilFoolaround · 14/04/2021 11:44

I'm peri-menopausal and my body has changed with that and the birth of my third child 6 years ago. If I didn't walk so much I'd be in trouble.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 14/04/2021 15:04

April, were you a previous poster under a different name? That is tough going cal wise.
I'm having a nice decaf low fat mill cappuccino and looking forward to a nice dinner later. Afraid to jinx it but feeling in the zone!

TheHoneyBadger · 14/04/2021 16:25

I'm shattered. Early gym visit again and then work. Really energised me when I did it on Monday but knackered today and just got home and ate an individual pork pie. It was tasty but unlike me to get in hungry.

I didn't end up eating my stew yesterday and think I probably had very few calories which might be way I was so done in today. Am reheating the stew now and will eat plenty.

1000calories and that much exercise sounds too little on a daily basis interviewed. I don't know if it's a common thing but I remember my sister being unable to lose weight and being told by a trainer that she had to eat more and as crazy as it sounded to her she did start losing weight.

I could quite happily eat another pork pie but I WILL wait for the stew to heat up. Not like me to be really physically hungry.

NutellaEllaElla · 14/04/2021 19:59

Well I am exhausted for no good reason today. I dragged myself through my evening walk and thinks I was trying to buy energy when I was craving food and snacks today. Did ok calorie wise, not awful, not perfect.

DH had also stalled with our holiday bloat from a few weeks ago now. So I think we probably both need to be a little more focused. A few more weeks like this one might do it. Hopefully.

Octopus37 · 14/04/2021 20:14

@AprilFoolaround I'm with you about the peri menopausal thing, I'm 46 and had a blood test a few weeks ago, Results showed that I was going through the change, dont think I can cope with eating much less than 1500 cals a day though, so its going to be slow progress, again. @TheHoneyBadger well done on the gym, sounds like you earned that pork pie. @HeyGirlHeyBoy know what you mean about feeling in the zone, dont want to jinx it either cause know I have a couple of take aways/meals out. I'm not prepared to sacrifice take aways/meals out especially now the pubs have opened, but need to keep it under control.

Well I've eaten a lot of calories I think. Pork pie, 2 bowls of stew and 6 salted caramel profiteroles.

I think I needed a big feed. When I was dragging myself to my last lesson today I started thinking and I'd eaten very little for a few days but upped my exercise big time. Good for the scales but bodies do need fuel too. Hopefully won't see too big an upswing and it will all balance out

Cuzco · 14/04/2021 21:41

I am dreading peri/menopause when it comes. It sounds like it makes already tough things so much harder!

Well, my renewed resolve lasted all of 48 hours and even then barely happened due to lack of walks. So that's two fairly inactive days which have been added to today by pub lunch day. It was glorious. DH had the day off, we drove to the coast, had a little walk and had lunch outside a pub by the sea. I ate what I wanted!

And now feel really podgy. 1771 calories today, only just behind 1782 on my birthday at the weekend. Not a good week!! Weigh day tomorrow so we'll see what that looks like.

On the plus side, DH, in a lovely effort to redeem himself after the Mother's Day shambles, bought me a new fitbit for my birthday to replace the one which I lost. It was really thoughtful and I've just been setting it up. Perhaps the renewed focus starts from tomorrow.

drspouse · 14/04/2021 21:41

Much better day. Got my 10k steps in and stayed off sugar. Swimming tomorrow!

Cuzco · 15/04/2021 07:21

80.0kg dead on. 12.6 stone. 200g off And thank goodness it hadn't gone up. I'll take that.

Cuzco · 15/04/2021 07:23

Well done @drspouse and @TheHoneyBadger sounds like some really good efforts and that you are hitting the gym/swim hard.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/04/2021 07:44

Little bit up as predicted. Not to worry

NutellaEllaElla · 15/04/2021 07:47

Weight is exactly the same as it was this time last week.

NutellaEllaElla · 15/04/2021 07:47

I suppose it motivates me to keep on the straight and narrow as much as possible this weekend Sad

Octopus37 · 15/04/2021 07:52

@Cuzco well done, 1700 cals in a day isnt bad at all, I know I have days where I eat way way more than that. @TheHoneyBadger sounds as if you needed a good feed. Salted caramel profiteroles sound lush. Had a fairly good day yesterday, although I did eat a kitkat. Think cals probably came in at about 1500 again, steps 13,782. Weighed 9st3.75 this morning. Know I've got a take away coming up though tomorrow night and a pub meal out on Monday, so its going to get tougher. Not feeling amazing, second night of bad sleep, hopefully tonight will be better.

They were lush octopus. Part of a Tesco finest meal deal. I’m 2lbs down from this time last last week even after having bounced up by nearly a pound so yes I think my body was just too much in deficit and demanding calories. Sorry you’re not sleeping well I’ve had similar for a few days now.

Keep going Nutella. It’ll catch up with a whoosh hopefully

TheHoneyBadger · 15/04/2021 08:49

On the Tesco meal deal: it is so cheap it’s hard to resist. For the main this week I got pepper steaks, side of parmentier potatoes, the profiteroles and a bottle of wine for £10. I wish they’d let you choose another side instead of a dessert to save temptation but it’s such a bargain.

The potatoes we will only eat a little of with the steak and load up on green veg and the leftovers are nice for a tortilla the next day.

I don’t get how they make a profit on it.

Sorry bit off topic.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 15/04/2021 08:50

Brilliant Honeybadger, Cuzco and Octopus, going in the right direction is everything! I had a few jellies last night and it's incredible how hard I am on myself because of it, so silly rationally, literally about 6 haribo. Anyway onwards to today. Just did a nice Km before work, nice bit of movement and fresh air.
Plan
B: porridge, blueberries and banana
L: pear, Greek yoghurt and chia seeds, mandarin
D: TBC
Goals: 2.5L water, no eating after 7pm, skin, teeth and lights out 10.30. I'm not a total slattern on the skin and teeth usually, I just find it helps as part of conscious selfcare and I'm less inclined to gorge after it. Have a lovely, sunny day all.

NutellaEllaElla · 15/04/2021 10:29

@TheHoneyBadger Well Tesco haven't been doing very well for a while so I wouldn't be surprised if they are using the meal deals as a loss leader - just to get you in store and in the hopes that you'll probably buy other stuff while you're there and you might be more likely to go back there for more shops and eventually they might entice some customers back from Aldi and Lidl.

Yes, I will hope for a little whoosh.

I know what you mean about being overly harsh on yourself for small digressions @HeyGirlHeyBoy. I myself am very anxious about turning into a relative of mine who is and has always been very overweight. It's been a family bogeyman for many years. So I think i'm a little overly vigilant about messing up, losing control etc etc.

Interviewedundercaution · 15/04/2021 12:07

Meal out last night was so disappointing. They've kept the prices the same but cut portion size and quality of ingredients. Such a shame. It's a lovely place though and the company and service were great. Won't be eating there again.

NutellaEllaElla · 15/04/2021 12:25

Oh noooo! Gutting.

Cuzco · 15/04/2021 14:20

@Interviewedundercaution That's so disappointing.

I've just been out for a big long walk with my shiny new Fitbit and it doesn't bloody work when pushing a pram. I am so pissed off ('scuse the language). I don't really like wearing things on my wrist anyway, so had a belt clip for the previous one but that's how I lost it. Plus the heart rate monitor doesn't work if it's not in contact with the skin. So there's no way I can count steps, heart rate and push the Ay as well have got a cheapo pedometer instead.

NutellaEllaElla · 15/04/2021 14:21

How annoying, could you wrap it through a belt loop?

NutellaEllaElla · 15/04/2021 14:23

Duct tape it to your leg 😆

AprilFoolaround · 15/04/2021 14:59

Which fitbit is it? Mine counts steps when I'm pushing the buggy (I use it to cart shopping now )
