DS will be 9 months this week.

During pregnancy I gained 3.5st. I lost 19lbs within 10 days of giving birth. I lost a further stone by doing keto. THEN... I moved house and the diet went out of the window.

I was high end of healthy BMI prior to pregnancy (around 7lbs heavier than I'd like to have been). Weighed myself this morning and I've gained the stone back that I lost doing keto (I blame lockdown).

Anyway, I've worked out that if I start today and manage to lose 2lbs a week then I can be back to my pre-pregnancy weight by the week of DS's first birthday.

I'm back to work now so between that looking after DS I don't have much time or energy for exercise so I'm planning on just doing more weekend walks (weather permitting) and changing my diet.

I don't want to do keto again. Although it's effective, it isn't sustainable for me. I was considering intermittent fasting and introducing more veg, cutting out the nightly bar of chocolate, etc.

I'm good during the day but come 7.30pm when DS is in bed and I'm knackered, all I want to do is slob on the couch and eat 🙈

Anyone else looking to get in shape for summer and fancy joining me for some mutual support and accountability?

I'm in! I've had enough of making excuses, and it feels like 'now or never' for me! I've always been slim, but lockdown boredom, a stressful job, and home schooling several children has meant that the pounds have crept on. I've always done slimming world in the past and lost quite a lot, but tried My FitnessPal over the summer and lost a stone. 8 pounds of which has crept back on 😫 I've also hit menopause and have been on hrt patches for a month, so feel old, achy, and saggy. I'm planning on cutting out snacking (still have a couple of rich teas in evening) moving more, and eating more fruit and veg (I'm vegetarian). Biscuits, creme eggs and walnut whips are my weaknesses! I totally understand the evening slump. Have one too mid afternoon 🤣

HardcoreParkour · 08/03/2021 12:30

Creme eggs are my nemesis! I've had one EVERY NIGHT for.... I don't know how long 😳🙈

I'm with you on feeling old and achey. I'm 36 but feel like I've aged 20 years in the past 9 months.

I used to use MyFitnessPal religiously and also found it good so will start logging everything again as of today. I've set my daily calorie goal to 1200 and will limit my eating window to between 12-8 which gives me time to eat my last meal once the LO has gone down but not enough time to then cram in all the goodies.

Think I'll have a mushroom and mixed pepper omelette for tea tonight, just need to be sparing with the cheese (which I usually pile in).

OP posts:
diege · 09/03/2021 07:00

Yep, a creme egg EVERY night here too! Grin
Had a really 'good' day yesterday- lots of exercise and under cals on MFP (but I do think I cheat on it- picking the foods that don't quite match 🤣) so hope to continue today. I like the idea of the eating window but think I'd pass out not eating til 12! (I'm up around 5am).
Do you have a regular weigh in day, or are you an 'every day-er' like me?

HardcoreParkour · 09/03/2021 14:04

Haha, I cheat on MFP too 🙈 really not doing ourselves any favours 🤣

I'm fine not eating till 12 but I can't go without a coffee (or 4). With IF you can only have water or black tea/coffee out with your eating window so I'm doing a half arsed attempt and still having coffee with milk.

I'm an everyday weigher too! I only record my weight once a week though (Monday morning), might update it Sunday night if I've had a decent loss that week and scared it bumps up by the morning lol.

Got our shopping delivered this morning so plenty of healthy stuff in for the week 👍🏼 bye bye creme eggs 😭

OP posts:
diege · 10/03/2021 07:20

Having healthy food in is such a help I find! I've just had a delivery of a stupidly expensive veg box - will have to throw a bits out of the fridge from last time Blushbut I'm on it.
I don't count milk either 🤣 I figure a bit of skimmed milk in drinks never made anyone fat - ditto ketchup. Slimming world woman used to raise her eyes to the ceiling with me...
No creme eggs left in the house...will make do with a couple of rich teas for my evening treat....if I make it that far!

HardcoreParkour · 13/03/2021 09:47

@diege I'm a weak, weak woman 🙈 I not only had a creme last night (and the night before), I also had a crunchie chaser 🥴

I blame DH!!

How are you getting on?

OP posts:
HardcoreParkour · 13/03/2021 09:48

Creme egg*

pitterpatterrain · 13/03/2021 09:53

Gosh this is how I feel

Want to lose 2 stone and no matter what I do it never seems to shift... eating chocolate biscuits all the time likely doesn’t help

Going to try IF and basically skip a meal a day, breakfast for evening meal and then a proper lunch with protein in the middle

HardcoreParkour · 13/03/2021 11:22

@pitterpatterrain 2 stone is my initial goal too. I'll work on the original 7lbs I wanted to lose when I get there.

I know a few people who have tried IF and had great results! What's your weakness? Sweet things? carbs? (Mine's both BTW).

I've been up and down weight wise all my life, from a size 6-16 but a 12 tends to be my most consistent size so I'd be happy getting back to that. I'm currently a 14/16 as I seem to have become 3 foot wider post- pregnancy. The hips, thighs and bum are getting out of control (not to mention the c-section belly and the 3rd chin that has appeared). I'm currently not a bonny sight!

OP posts:
pitterpatterrain · 13/03/2021 11:38

My weakness is chocolate .. chocolate biscuits, white chocolate bars etc etc

And probably just eat too much overall

I tried IF earlier in the year and felt that it was working then just fell off the wagon and hadn’t really built the habit

So. Starting again!

JM10 · 13/03/2021 11:49

I'm in. I need to lose about 5st 😳

I've started doing intermittent fasting, with my fasting period starting at 7.30, that helps me because like you op, evenings can be my downfall.

My issue now is I think I've messed my metabolism up from years of yo-yo dieting and I seem to need to stick to a diet of 1200 calories a day along with exercise to lose weight.

So my plan for this week - log it all in my fitness Pal, stick to 1200, exercise regularly, drink lots of water and fast 7.30pm - 11.30am.

JM10 · 13/03/2021 11:51

I will say though and I know this is a bad start, I won't properly restart calorie counting until Monday because I asked my children to make me a cake for mother's Day and I I don't eat it they'll be upset.

Sharonthecat · 13/03/2021 16:51

I'm in please! I lost a few lbs prior to Christmas and was starting to feel pretty good, but surprise surprise I thought I'd treat myself a bit at Christmas - and now it's March and I haven't stopped.......
I'd like to get to 10 stone which would be put me at the high end of healthy BMI. If I can get to 9 stone something then that would be super amazing Smile
I don't have much of a plan past just trying to be healthy and active and drinking lots of water. I find a smoothie for breakfast is a good start - and avoiding too much toast Blush

HardcoreParkour · 13/03/2021 17:27

@JM10 @Sharonthecat funny you both mention drinking loads of water. It's such a simple thing but I struggle with it for some reason. I drink around 8 cups of coffee a day, maybe a glass of diluting juice if I'm really thirsty. I know caffeine is a diuretic and I should be drinking a glass of water each time I have a coffee but I find it a chore. Will definitely have to make a conscious effort though, and maybe cut back on the coffee intake.

As last week was a false start for me (and by that I mean - epic fail), I am also starting on Monday.

If anyone wants to share the results of their weekly weigh-in for some encouragement then feel free. No need to disclose starting weight if you don't want to, just weekly loss (or gain 🙈). I'll be weighing myself first thing Monday morning to get my starting weight and then every Monday from then on.

OP posts:
Sharonthecat · 13/03/2021 17:43

Cool, I'll weigh in on Monday too 😀 - and yes, I'm terrible with water too, half the time I don't even realise I'm thirsty 🤦‍♀️

JM10 · 13/03/2021 18:46

I'll weigh in on Monday and then do a weekly update. That's the only thing that makes me consider a slimming group - I do better when I know someone will know if I don't lose.

Hod19 · 13/03/2021 21:55

Joining too if that's ok!
No idea of a diet plan yet. I'm 1.5stone heavier than I want to be. Want to try for baby #2 but want to be a better weight before getting pregnant otherwise I feel like it'll just be even harder to shift it after. Need to look in to IF but for now I need to cut out the evening snacking, massively increase my water intake and exercise more. Good luck all!

HardcoreParkour · 14/03/2021 20:40

Hi @Hod19 looks like we're all on the Intermittent fasting/drink more water diet!

Come the summer we're all going to be looking and feeling so much better, I'm convinced!!

malteaserbunny · 14/03/2021 21:23

Can I join in please? Need some moral support! I want to get motivated and really just need to get sorted. Lockdown has got me into terrible habits and I just need to get healthier.

Sharonthecat · 15/03/2021 07:22

Thanks for setting this up @HardcoreParkour

Weighed in, starting weight is 10st 7lbs........

Planning a long walk this evening and will ditch the snacks today 😩

inkysplatter · 15/03/2021 07:34

Mother's Day is out of the way
New diet starts today!

Planning to try and do SW, maybe a bit of IF. I can skip breakfast okay but sometimes I find as soon as I start eating I can't stop so like calories into the window, whereas if I have an egg in the mornjng I binge less.

The thing with SW is it's the accountability I need. I went to groups after DD was born and the motivation of having to step on the scales in front of someone on a Tuesday morning kept me on track all weekend.

Also a curly wurly is only 6 syns and super chewy so easy to make last so I know what to grab if I'm desperate.

Does anyone fancy having a regular weigh in day where we share our losses from the last week?

JM10 · 15/03/2021 07:37

inkysplatter we've agreed on Mondays to weigh in.

1st weigh in for me - 15st 4lb 😳

inkysplatter · 15/03/2021 07:50

Fab Thanks JM. I read the start of the thread and the end but not the middle Blush we got this! Star

Just doing all the Mother's Day washing up HmmAngry

Just done mine I'm 11 st 8

Need to lose 1 stone to feel normal, 2 to be fab and 3 (or 4 ffs) would still keep me in a healthy BMI because I think my bones are made of lead. (I still have a healthy BMI at 7 stone but it's not a great look - I've been there as a student many life times ago.

Instead that and thought 7st is so light for an adult! Then I checked and NHS say a normal weight for me would be 7st 13 - 10st 10, so I could loose about half my weight!

I am aiming for 10st 7lb, then see how I feel though. I try to view it stone by stone so it doesn't feel too daunting.

Earlybirdcatches · 15/03/2021 09:08

Can I join too please?

Really similar story to OP. Lost a stone on Keto last year. Gained it back this lockdown. I try and do IF and drink water, but once I start eating it’s hard to stop!
Carbs and sugar are my nemesis.
