@shutterteal snap....just going to collect mine now, but going to take it in the morning
Did my first does at 9am uk time. I live in the ME.
How have you got on @Chrissols?
Wonder how the price compares worldwide?
Approximately £360 here for 6 pens.

Chrissols · 11/03/2021 10:41

@shutterteal I am in the UK and it costs £260 per month through the Pharmacy. Sadly the GP's don't prescribe yet, although goodness knows why as they prescribe Orlistat etc, probably the cost.

Chrissols · 11/03/2021 11:01

I took my first dose three hours ago, is it normal to feel sick already? Cannot work out whether it's the Saxenda making me feel like this or the covid vaccine I had yesterday?

MolotovMocktail · 11/03/2021 11:48

I felt sick about 30 minutes after my first shot, it lasted a few hours. It wasn’t severe and I have felt fine after subsequent shots.

HowlingGale · 11/03/2021 12:18

moonchops thanks for that info, I didn't realise it stayed in your system for 3 days. I guess that would explain why your hunger didn't go through the roof until 3 days after you stopped taking it. I am feeling a bit frustrated today, as I haven't lost any weight in six days and have been pretty much sticking to a healthy eating plan.. I rammed in a few handfuls of crisps last night while cooking dinner, but overall my consumption is way down on what I normally eat. So I guess I must persevere.... and as others have mentioned, I am now noticing a slowdown on the bowel front. sorry TMI!!

andadietcoke · 11/03/2021 12:47

@HowlingGale same here - nothing lost since the weekend. But I know I'm doing all the right things, and it's not like I feel like I'm missing out on anything, or suffering / starving, so will persevere. My clothes are starting to feel looser though, and like I've lost more than I have.

MooChops89 · 11/03/2021 13:04

It's definitely worth persevering, no matter the method there will always be times where you maintain or gain a little, weight loss isn't a straight line! Have you heart of the water whoosh? I'll find a little diagram to explain it better than I could Grin

MooChops89 · 11/03/2021 13:05

Hope you can see that OK!

Saxenda journey all welcome
Chrissols · 12/03/2021 10:45

How often to people weigh?

andadietcoke · 12/03/2021 10:55

About twice a week, sometimes less frequently.

Chrissols · 12/03/2021 11:18

I really cannot wait to see my first loss, just to know it going the right way

whalehellothere · 12/03/2021 11:57

I'm going to ask a daft question. Sorry.
On day 4 today and no side affects at all. So how do I know I'm actually getting the liquid in the pen?
I twist to 0.6.

andadietcoke · 12/03/2021 12:00

@whalehellothere did you do the flow check before you used the pen? Is the plunger moving down the window? Can you see a drop of liquid at the end of the needle before or after using it?

MolotovMocktail · 12/03/2021 12:11

How inadvisable would it be to increase my dose early? I have been on 0.6 for 4 days now, had some nausea the first day but fine since. I noticed reduced appetite for first couple of days but I have been ravenous for the past 24 hours and can’t stop eating! Should I go up to 1.2 tomorrow or wait out the full week?

whalehellothere · 12/03/2021 12:13

I can see a drop of liquid at the end of the needle.
I can't see a plunger when I press it.

Chrissols · 12/03/2021 12:17

@whalehellothere I actually wondered myself how you know you are definitely getting it, albeit I did feel sick yesterday. It's only my second day today, but like you, I see a drop of liquid but no plunger

CelestialGalaxy · 12/03/2021 12:18

@whalehellothere you probabky havent used enough yet to see the plunger. There is a way to check how much is left in the pen (so when you get near the end you can work out the dose) I think you have to twist the pen all the way but i havent done it, but it is described in the saxender leaflet or on their website

notapizzaeater · 12/03/2021 12:21

It's normal to see a drop of liquid on the needle tip. I hold the needle in fir at least the count if 10.

The plunger is the cap you press whilst the needle is in you.

I jumped on the scales today and I'm up (down) to 44.5lbs.

MolotovMocktail · 12/03/2021 12:24

That’s amazing notapizzaeater! Congratulations. What dose are you taking if you don’t mind me asking?

whalehellothere · 12/03/2021 12:28

Thanks. @Chrissols and @CelestialGalaxy
I'll just crack on and hope it's working. I do see a drop so hoping so.
No obvious loss of appetite for me yet, does that take a few days to click in?

whalehellothere · 12/03/2021 12:32

How fabulous is that @notapizzaeater
Congratulations!
How long has that taken?

Another daft question. I'm not a massive eater or overeater, but I am fat. Do I absolutely have to lower my food intake considerably for Saxenda to work?

andadietcoke · 12/03/2021 13:06

Saxenda won't help with weight loss on its own. It's essentially an appetite suppressant which then helps you stick to a calorie deficit diet. If you at the same as you were doing before and you weren't losing weight then, you won't lose weight on Saxenda. But you probably won't want to eat as much and so will lose weight because you're eating less. There's a secondary benefit of Saxenda around metabolism and leptin resistance but I don't fully understand it.

whalehellothere · 12/03/2021 13:25

If it gives me a working metabolism I'll be happy with that!!!
Although I don't eat a lot I do eat high fat foods, dairy is my weakness.
An appetite suppressant will stop me wanting creamy sauces etc when I do eat.
To be less interested in food would be great. And then get the weight off.

andadietcoke · 12/03/2021 13:37

Worth calorie counting and seeing what an average day looks like.
Yes, the lack of interest in food is weird. I'm perfectly happy with salmon and a fist sized portion of salad. Before Saxenda I wouldn't have considered it unless it was two salmon fillets, with salad AND potatoes. With butter. And Mayo.

notapizzaeater · 12/03/2021 13:48

I started weighing on 26th November - I took time off over Xmas and new year - then a few days in January as my DH died and my mum was here making sure I ate !

I’m on 1.2 dose - this is still working so not moving up till it stops - then I will just add a few ‘clicks’
