Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

NoNameNellie · 07/02/2021 18:50

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

@PurpleDaisies It came out nicely in the end! Although some things in are just meant to be a takeaway job Grin by the time I was done with all that bloody kneading...

@clto2021Nice one ! That's a nice, slow and steady loss!

@CarlottaValdez Exactly! That's what I'm telling myself anyway. Slow and steady, no mad diets...

@ElvenDreamer I haven't heard of the Louise Parker method - do you eliminate anything? Sounds like a sensible way of doing things though!

A lovely sunny day here and a pretty OK day on the eating front!

Once again, I didn't make breakfast... but I managed 10k steps and a run today!

Lunch was couscous salad and grilled chicken, a couple of pieces of almond cake on the side and a piece of goat's cheese.

Dinner in leftover veggie pizza and 2 kiwi fruit.

Small victories - I tried on a pair of trousers that were so tight in December, I didn't dare bend over in them for fear of tearing them straight up the crack... They also threatened to cut off the circulation around my middle, that's how tight they were! Anyway, they now fit beuatifully! Hooray!

The Trouser Test! Can't argue with those results @NoNameNellie 👖👖👖👖

PurpleDaisies · 28/02/2021 19:56

I made kale, mushroom and ricotta cannelloni for lunch (finishing off my kale glut) and have had some leftover chickpea curry stew for dinner. I had a nice walk around the local city centre after dropping off a care package to a friend who’s isolating. The change of scenery was nice, as was a proper coffee from a local independent shop. That was a nice treat!

I’ve managed to injure my thumb (long story) so my usual exercise class is going to be a bit tricky. I might have to up the walking instead. Hopefully the weather will hold. ☀️

Echoing what everyone’s said about slow being the way to go. People will notice all of a sudden. I’m hoping that’s going to be one of the nice things when I see people after lockdown I haven’t seen in months and months.

PurpleDaisies · 28/02/2021 19:56

Yes-amazing job with those trousers!

takingmytimeonmyride · 28/02/2021 20:21

Start weight - 82.2kg
Last week - 81.4kg
This week - 80.8kg.

My period started this week after a 40 day cycle Hmm so I've been trying not to eat allllll the things! Managed to keep to my 16:8 eating hours, except for one day where I had a funeral so ate something beforehand as I didn't want my stomach to make a noise.

Also didn't manage all my steps this week due to aforementioned period.

But I have bought a new (to me) bike so will go out for a ride this coming week if the weather stays nice.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 28/02/2021 22:35

Well done on the trouser test @NoNameNellie Grin I have a wardrobe of tops looking at me accusingly as I wear the same handful of them day in, day out. I'm hoping another half stone off will give me more choice in what I can wear without anything being sausage-tight...!

Thank you for the recipe tips @PurpleDaisies, I've tried making my own curries before but can't get them as flavoursome as the pastes, Pataks are a store cupboard staple! I'll give that a try to use up some of my kale mountain. And I was inspired to lose weight this time round after seeing photos of a friend on social media, she lost 3 stone last year and posted her before and after photos, she looks phenomenal Shock I haven't seen her in person for a good few years but we keep in touch via SM - I couldn't believe the difference, yet I'd never thought she looked 'fat' as such.

Lovely sunny weekend here. I've done a Joe Wicks workout today and done 15K steps, but AF has started unexpectedly early, so who knows if the scales will be kind to me tomorrow...

ChonkyChook · 01/03/2021 07:32

Really quick weigh in before school run!

Last Week 74.6kg
Today 73.9kg

Hope everyone has a fantastic week.

Turefu · 01/03/2021 07:52

Hi! I gave myself a break from dieting and now I weigh 70.2kg. Today I'll have Slim-Fast shake for breakfast, vegetable salad for luch and scrabled eggs with veg on dinner.

RunnyPaint · 01/03/2021 08:19

I have plateaued, which is frustrating as I'd hoped to get to my halfway point by the beginning of March. Nevermind, March is a longer month and I had already extended my booze and crisps ban to cover the whole of Lent, so that's almost 5 more weeks to get close to my target weight. The biggest long-term change that I want to retain is the reduced snacking overall, and going for fruit instead during the day.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 01/03/2021 08:22

I used to quite enjoy a Slim-Fast shake for breakfast @Turefu - it was really easy to have at my desk in the office, plus I liked the chocolate ones! I didn't like any of the other flavours but this is going back about 10 years, I imagine they've changed the range by now.

I have everything crossed that I'll be doing the school run this time next week @ChonkyChook!! Always good to start the week with a loss Smile

I've lost 2.5lb this week (although I stayed the same last week, so over 2 weeks it's evened out to just over a pound a week, rather than a fantastic loss in one go!). AF week this week though and I already feel horrendous, am trying to resist the temptation to bury myself in a large pile of chocolate...

PurpleDaisies · 01/03/2021 11:34

I’m up a little bit on last week but it’s period week and I’ve got some er, side effects from taking codeine so I’m sure by next Monday I’ll be back down again.

I haven’t done the meal plan for this week yet. Veggie feast is the aim...

Well done this week everyone.

Fembot123 · 01/03/2021 12:26

Well done @ChonkyChook and @NoNameNellie ⚡️ I got up at 6 to do a zoom exercise class, couldn’t give it too much welly as I’m above DD’s bedroom, next time I’ll do it downstairs!

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 01/03/2021 14:37

Afternoon all. I’m half way through and did my end of week 3 weigh in today. 1.5lb off so a total of 8.5lb. I’m pleased with that. That takes me to 10st 3.5lb. If I can get to 9st 13lb by the end of the 6 weeks I’ll be thrilled and well on my way to getting back into triathlon training.

I’m struggling this week with a bowel obstruction and hoping I can move it without needing any hospital intervention (I have Crohn’s disease and it’s quite normal for me)
I’m going to struggle to exercise this week as I’m on a really tight Uni deadline and the only time I’ll really get to exercise is with my son (who is 2.5) I’m thinking shuttle runs in the park tomorrow morning, he’d love that!

Good luck everyone, we’ve got this!

NoNameNellie · 01/03/2021 17:34

Weighed in at 68.8kg this morning!!! rips off shirt and tears around thread

Celebrated with pizza and dark chocolate Grin

Unfortunately I didn't drink enough water today, so I have a very fuzzy head, but can't help but be pleased with that loss! I'm now back to my pre-lock down weight (at least 5kg to heavy to begin with, but hey it's something!)

Well done @LivingMyBestLife2020! I hope the blockage shifts without outside intervention. Yes @NoNameNellie, definitely worth a victory lap!

JemimaMuddledUp · 01/03/2021 20:20

Well done @NoNameNellie!

Started the new month well by going for a 5km walk before work.

Food:
Breakfast - Caramel meal replacement shake
Mid morning - black coffee
Lunch - Tuna salad followed by melon, blueberries and yoghurt
Mid afternoon - peppermint tea and a cereal bar
Dinner - Cawl and a Welsh cake (St David's Day - I resisted the cheese and copious amounts of butter)

buckeejit · 02/03/2021 11:13

Well done everyone! This thread is so helpful to check in as I'm really missing having buddies IRL to lose with.

@LivingMyBestLife2020 great going & hope you manage to get rid of the blockage.

@NoNameNellie well done on your fab loss! I LOVE the trouser test, it's so much more important than the scale results so I need to remember that.

I lost 1.5lb yesterday & just snuck into the next stone bracket but feel like I've slipped just a little. I remember having 2 cocktail sausages & a couple of pesto oatcakes that I didn't log last week. Fed up of diet meals but carbs really seem to stick to me. Had an off day yesterday & ate freezer fish & chips for tea & some snacking. Will definitely have a look at some better meals to make it more sustainable. My big stock of freezer soup has done me very well over the last weeks so will make some more this weekend.

Any much loved soup recipes appreciated! Seeing your curry chat reminded me of the beetroot & chickpea curry from the green roasting tin which is fab. Will maybe make split pea dahl soon too.

Not sure if such a thing exists but I've been looking for a rice scoop so I can get the right size of portion easily without weighing & not go over-anyone come across such a thing?

Hope everyone has a good week ahead - the sun yesterday really gave me a boost & reminded me of all the extra steps I should be able to get in when gardening!

Fembot123 · 02/03/2021 15:58

Nothing has changed on the scales in the last few days for me but I’m feeling the effects of all the exercise and someone at work asked me if I’d been on a ‘Fitness thing’ so I’m happy.

NoNameNellie · 02/03/2021 18:51

Nice work everyone!

@Fembot123 that's so encouraging to hear! Sounds like you're glowing!

It's been an OK day for me, I've had a little cake over the last few days, feeling a bit more relaxed cos of last week's weight loss. I've just had a little word with myself not to go mad and undo all my heard work, will try and have a sensible sized dinner tonight to balance things out.

NoNameNellie · 02/03/2021 18:54

It's been a really tiring start to the work week and I feel like I'm sinking in my to do list. This is always where I turn to cake, pasta and takeaway to get me through. Must resist !

It’s hard not to celebrate by treating yourself 😄 My DH bday tomorrow so I’m going to relax for the day. I did a 1 hour combat workout this am then a weighted HIIT class after dinner, managed not to vom 😛

Sunshine1235 · 02/03/2021 20:31

Lost the thread but I’m back. I’m recording my weight every Sunday so this week I’d lost 2.5lbs, but like a similar pp I hadn’t lost anything the previous week so not quite as impressive as it sounds. I’m managing still not to eat any sweet treats but haven’t completely sworn off wine. Trying to exercise but it’s near impossible with small children and a non sleeping baby. Slow and steady is my goal too though

Fembot123 · 03/03/2021 07:19

Hi @Sunshine1235, when my kids were all tiny like yours it was all I could do not to set an IV drip of sugar up for instant energy let alone exercise! Sounds like you are doing well.

Fembot123 · 03/03/2021 07:19

Trying to get into the habit of 6.00am classes every other day now I’m going back full time
