Welcome to the new thread!

OP posts:

How did it go for you, Jahan? I know how hard it is when someone offers you cakes and it's probably not the last one so try to develop your special technique which works. You know how kids start messing up with food and make it look totally off putting. You could do that or if are happy to cover the cake and save it for your kids as a treat and you know you can resist it, you could do that. Anyway, sorry I've just only seen your post now.

mylittlepudding · 13/12/2007 06:41

Katy - woohoo for making a choice you are happier with. That's great. And a party too, can I come!?! Also hope you have a good day out today (assume it is sans children??) - I love the markets, all the yummy smells!

Polly - what is a mustard veg toad in the hole??? Rough description will do... am I being stupid?

Susie - I'll be here, losing all that I plan to put on over Christmas. You've inspired me - I am actually going to ring the dentist today rahter than struggle on.

Jahan - well done on the cake! I hope you had a taste, BF is a great justification!

i'm not touching those caramel waffle things until the party!! Susie, i can safely say that at my rate i will be here until summer at least

santaslittlehelper, you can wear anything my slinky beauty....i am going to wear a virtual sparkly dress on my virtually slinky body...it will of course have a magic panel to allow eating of kit kat chunkies and lots of savoury nibble things without expanding at all

mylittlepud, dh makes it, he fries quartered onions and tomatoes in butter, part boils carrots and string beans mixes them with wholegrain mustard then puts them in batter...really nice but not remotely diet friendly....in fact i may have some at santas party!!

pollywollybauble · 13/12/2007 10:20

sorry santaslittlebumper, i keep calling you santaslittlehelper .....i do mean you tho'

Jahan · 13/12/2007 18:10

I did have a small piece of the cake and felt better for it! I managed to save the rest for dh and ds1 (even though dh is supposed to be dieting too )
Good idea santaslittlebumper! my additional foods are;

tangarine · 13/12/2007 21:29

Hello!

I started at 10.13 and was 9.10 on Saturday at my friend's, so have lost over a stone, assuming her scales are correct (she has just lost 5 stone in 5 months of lighter-life which puts me in my place!)

Today: Special K and milk, coffee
Roasted veg ratatoille, fruit jelly at a party at work (choice was that or choc mousse)
left over chicken and mushroom risotto
Fun size bag of malteasers

All the party food sounds scrummy. Particularly lashings of vino - stopping drinking during the week has made a big difference for me.

santaslittlebumper · 14/12/2007 14:40

well done tangerine yor have done amazingly well

town was great yesterday and got a cheque off work for money owed to me,dh bought me a beautiful necklace from storm and then i had a couple of pints of german lager and a steak burger...mmmmmmmmm

santaslittlebumper · 15/12/2007 13:36

helllooo...is there anybody there?or are you all scoffing secret christmas chocs?

fedda · 15/12/2007 15:17

Hello, I can't say for everybody but I'm afraid that's what I'm doing when it comes to my favourite chockies.

mylittlepudding · 15/12/2007 15:46

I've been hopeless this week - midnight munchies and DP did the shopping (very rare) so all the meals are high effort, higher calorie.

I've chucked the rest of the birthday cake out though, you'll be glad to hear! No eating for the sake of it in this house!

We are all, almost (touch wood etc) well in this house. Anywhere else?

santaslittlebumper · 15/12/2007 16:11

all well here too!not a cough or sneeze for over a dayi'm resisting the urge to open the chocs but i'm having our annual family get together at my house tomorrow so the diet will be no more until monday.

fedda · 15/12/2007 17:34

Family get together next week for 2 weeks!

pollywollybauble · 15/12/2007 23:08

well have been really hungry all day so have been grazing....well, chomping all day

have had...muesli, 2 toast and marmite, low fat cream cheese and salad sarnies, packet of crisps, pickled onions, mince pie, packet of maltesers, pasta and veggie sauce and another cream cheese sarnie and beer!!

will have to go to bed soon or will blow up like a barrage balloon....actually feel very at that list!!

Fedda i hope you enjoy your 2 weeks......i would be drinking heavily at this point!!

santaslittlebumper....great party look!!!! (when did you turn into noddy holder?)

mylittlepud....hubbies huh can't even manage a healthy shop....

all are relatively healthy in the polly house but we went to the christmas bazaar at preschool today and it was full of snot so watch this space!

fedda · 15/12/2007 23:18

Thank you, pollywollybauble. I'll enjoy it but I'm not sure my figure will.

pollywollybauble · 15/12/2007 23:28

where are your family from that they come for 2 weeks?

fedda · 15/12/2007 23:34

They are from here but kids really love spending time with them and it will be fun. It's only overeating really - that's what bothers me as i tend to eat more when anybody is staying or I stay with some other family. It's sort of social thing - cups of tea and coffee with buiscuits and all the meals when people expect accompaniment of potatoes and i was trying to follow no potatoes and other similar things after 5. Anyway, people are more important then diet. Still, I don't want to get back everything I've lost with such hard work.

pollywollybauble · 15/12/2007 23:47

i suppose you don't have to have the biccies/potatoes but it is hard in company isn't it? we're off out to lunch with friends tommorrow and i'm sure i'll eat more than the average sarnie lunch that i normally have!

anyway knackered now....nighty night

fedda · 16/12/2007 12:53

I think it will look odd to them as last time they were here I'd have 6 cookies with my coffee. Anyway, I can only try my best. I can't be doing my own thingy when I have guests really.

spottyshoes · 16/12/2007 13:33

Hiya Everyone!
Just a quick one to say hello. Our new place is wonderful but we wont have any internet for 3 months!!! So I wont be around for a while, hope you're all still here when I get back!!?? (to chat to only though as I'm sure everyone will have hit their stones by then!) I'm still hovvering around the 8lbs mark, gaining a couple...losing a couple, you know how it goes. Not really trying at the moment.

Hope you're all ok. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Love Spotty & BabyShoes

Jahan · 16/12/2007 15:38

Fedda - its so difficult when you have guests so you can only do your best. Just try to have less than you normally would have.
mylittlepud - I find that dh's always need a list. Mine always buys indulgent extras!

Well, I went out on fri with the family and we had lunch at wagamama's. I love that place and had the seafood ramen. I was trying to find out the cals for it but I couldn't. I did find out that its 8.5 ww points so it can't be too bad. The chocolate ginger cheesecake however is another matter (I shared it with dh though).
Yesterday we went out again. We went to a lovely Turkish restaurant and I had grilled chicken with rice, salad and bread. Er and dessert.

Today has been better;
Fruit'n' fibre and yoghurt
homemade roasted butternut squash and garlic soup. (was yum. I saw the recipe on mn somewhere) plus homemade bread
dinner will be some pasta.

fedda · 16/12/2007 16:49

Thank you, Jahan, I think I'll be lucky to have less then other people. Nobofy forced me to have 3 chockies today and I just scoffed them with my coffee with 2 sugars after roast lamb with roast pots and parsnips and sir fry broccoli and cheese with grapes. I'm hopeless!

mylittlepudding · 16/12/2007 20:12

Spottyshoes!!!! Helloooo!!!
I'll be here. I've mutter mutter gained this week. Grrr. Own fault. Pringles in the cupboard. Grrrr.

It is hard when you have guests - we've had a houseful for part of today - but I did make the most gorgeous lancashire hotpot a la handed-down-for-generations recipe. I'm full, and content but not slinky.
