Welcome to the new thread!

hi spottyshoes...i think some of us will still be here

jahan, that soup sounds nice!

Fedda, does it matter what others think? ( i ask that knowing that to me it does...i hate that "should you be having that when you are on a diet" thing...i don't know how to get past it....hubby just knows i am cutting down the size of my meals and am trying to eat "more healthily" than usual....mind you the downside of that is that no-one says "have you lost a bit of weight"

today we went to cafe rouge....
brekkie....didn't have one
lunch.....french plaited bread with gruyere cheese and red onion chutney on it, spinach tart with salad and a few fries, creme brulee which i attempted to share with dh but he didn't want any (shame)
eve...cappuccino and 2 crumpets with marmite

am hoping to leave it at that!

fedda · 16/12/2007 21:51

Well, I've decided to drop the idea of no carbs after 5. I'm really fed up with it and it makes me unhappy so that probably will solve the problem with having potatoes or not. Tonight I had a bowl of poridge and it was really nice and warming so I don't think potatoes, poridge or rice sometimes will be bad guys for me. I just cut out bread and pasta after 5 and try not to be temted by buiscuits. After the New Year when kids are back to school I'll have my soups back and hopefully that will put me back on track. i might be even able to have some soups during the time my in-laws are staying, who knows, they might be tempted. I can't say I wouldn't have any chocolates which I originally thought, I just love them too much. Anyway, I don't want to feel miserable. What are your plans. girls? I hope you don't mind me saying about all my chockie stuff.

mylittlepudding · 17/12/2007 09:47

How much gain, d'you think, it is reasonable to attribute solely to becoming suddenly extremely constipated?

fedda · 17/12/2007 18:48

i think it's difficult to know. Why wouldn't you try prunes or prune juice? Water helps as well or relaxing bath? it's not nice to have it but I'm prone to it as well. Good luck.

susiecutiemincepies · 17/12/2007 19:43

Hello Ladies!!

We're all moved!!! Its SO lovely. and the biggest news of all.... Isobel has slept AL night for TWO nights!!!! I of course, was up and down, checking on her, in her room, 3 or 4 times! my mind was racing with where to put everything, plus i kept waking up and thinking, oh my god, i've not heard her and she's been crying/ shouting etc... of course, she was sound asleep every time!

So, my back went in a very big way on saturday afternoon, and I thought i had been being very careful. Seems not. Had to be carried onto the bed mid afternoon. Couldnt even lift my head far enough to drink tea. So Isobel kindly let me use her cups

Mr Cutie has been SO amazing. He's walked up and down those stairs over a hundred times. Just a few boxes left to unpack and, a couple in high up storage cupboards still upstairs, Mr C will get them on saturday.

Its LOVELY.. have I already said that? Isobel has a few things in her room, furniture wise she wont be keeping, need to find storage for them. so not able to put all her fairy stickers, butterflies and little bits and bobs to make it look all girly ( the room I never had, and always wanted as a little girl )

Food wise, not been that bad at all really. mainly due to pain, also not having stuff to pick on. One takeaway so far.

So, am going to keep on with the diet.
can we forget the turkish delight I just ate?

Mr C went to the shop before he left this eveing, and came back with a huge pile of chocolate bars, to try to cheer me up.... well, he means well. It does mean i'll have to eat them, so hes not offended when he comes home friday night. !!

hope you are all ok?

mylittlepudding Constipation can indeed cause a static weight, or even a gain. how long have you been having probs for? get yourself some lactulose, take it for a few days then start on some senna... you'll be back to normal before you know it or, jusr lots of fruit, and orange juice is pretty good too.... ( trust me, i'm a gastro nurse

sorry for long post, just been dying to get back online!

have missed you all

susiecutiemincepies · 17/12/2007 19:48

fredda I think you area doing hte right thing with the carbs thing. I mean, there is NO point doing a diet that makes you so miserable that you end up eating other stuff to cheer you up, its counterproductive... might as well just be happy with what you are eating, eat sensibly in moderation etc.. you will get there.

Anyway ladies, the slower the wieght loss, the longer and more likely it is to stay off... remember that when you feel down about it not going fast enough, ok?

santaslittlebumper · 17/12/2007 20:40

hiya susiecutie missed you too mwah !
now we've lost spottyshoes
i've been crap this weekend, party was good fun but drank far too much red wine, wasn't drunk as such but had the munchies.no hangover this morning though.
think we are all going to be around in the new year aren't we?i'm going to eat healthily until sunday and then thats it until the day after boxing day.

fedda · 17/12/2007 20:57

It's nice to hear happy news about the moving. Keep posting good news, girls. I have to say Joanna Hall's diet is fantastic and it does work. it just need a partnership and there is no way my DH will be happy to have his dinner without pots or rice or occasionally pasta and it's so important to share family meals so I've decided to get my priorities right. i'll try to eat in moderation and not to be silly with sweets - i feel like a kid myself. Good luch to all of us!

pollywollybauble · 17/12/2007 22:26

hi susie, have a happy new home!

well i think i'm already off the rails for xmas!
brekkie...2 toast and marmite
lunch.....2 toast, fried egg, fried sausage, tomatoes and fried mushrooms
eve......small piece of pizza, baked potatoe, salad and dressing, pineapple

just......cappuccino, thai chilli crisps

pollywollybauble · 17/12/2007 22:27

ps mylittlepud....must be at least a lb or 2

mylittlepudding · 18/12/2007 07:29

I've gained 3.

I have been comfort eating - and I've been doing most of the buying - REALLY badly. Nibbling in a way I wasn't. I have depressive psychotic symptoms too. But gaining weight won't help me feel any better. Grrr.

A few days of good habits before Christmas will make a difference though, right? I'm going for a girly evening out for the first time since DD was born, on Wednesday, so not then, but otherwise.

Susie hooray on the moving and the sleeping!

Polly glad I'm not the only one nibbling crisps... they do taste good after abstinence!

Fedda I think I would lose weight faster if I didn't wait to eat with my DP, but then I would hardly spend any time with him - so I agree you are totally right that your relationship IS more important than weight loss. (Unless, I guess, you are morbidly obese)

santaslittlebumper · 18/12/2007 09:00

morning ladies, sorry to ignore people last night .i posted a message, put dd to bed and when i came back to carry on my laptop had frozen and refused to come on!
just off to ikea and then i will catch up with you all xx

fedda · 18/12/2007 12:00

Hi, everyone. I didn't have any time for breakfast ans as a result i went to Stabaks and had toffee nut hot chocolate with buiscotti . Lunch will be fish fingers (shop bought) with a cup of tea and dinner lamb chops with peas and potatoes.

santaslittlebumper · 18/12/2007 12:57

i had an ikea breakfast going to run up and down stairs now!

fedda · 18/12/2007 13:07

I'll join you.

Jahan · 18/12/2007 17:37

I lost 2lbs! Hooray!

I've been very tired today and have had a headache all day so I've just been eating uncontrollably. I've had about 3 big rolls with butter and marmite and marmalade (not together!), crisp and a couple of celebration chocs and I still want to eat more!
I think its the tiredness that makes me crave food and especially sugar.

Mylittlepud - sorry to hear about your little blip. don't worry and yes, a few days of good habits before Xmas will make a difference.

fedda · 18/12/2007 18:53

Congratulations, Jahan but be careful. I've put on weight after I've lost and it's this time of the year. try to enjoy your light yourself and don't repeat my mistakes, okay? best of luck.

mylittlepudding · 18/12/2007 19:12

I indulge to celebrate doing well too.

Doesn't it go back on FAST?!

Still struggling on here. Saw GP today. Bit confused, and DP still on nights. Woe is me, etc.

Today:
breakfast: wholemeal toast and green and blacks chocolate hazelnut spread
lunch: egg salad sandwich on wholemeal - shared with dd
midpm: two squares dairy milk (I still have the rest...)
tea: spinach and ricotta tortelloni.

I am going to have some Bailey's. I have had the bottle since the Christmas before last, so I have therefore decided this is reasonable

susiecutiemincepies · 18/12/2007 20:47

A bottle of baileys, lasting more than a month??? hey?? send it here, i'll help you out with it

I have found the scales, so will weigh in the morning.
Had my tooth out this afternoon. It is SO bloody sore! he had to stitch up into the cavity left, and then at the gum line. it wont stop bleeding.

food:

breakfast: cup of tea.
Lunch: Low sugar beans on toast ( whoelmeal with a sprinkle of cheese.
Tea: nothing yet, too sore!!!

Snack: half a flake... just before the dentist!

keep it going girls, we all doing fine. Slow but sure, definitely the best way, I promise you all

santaslittlebumper · 18/12/2007 21:08

pollywollybauble · 18/12/2007 21:13

evening all!
Little Ras to all...i think we are doing quite well considering the temptations on offer....am very impressed at the leaving the rest of the choc mylittlepud!

sounds like you are making the best of a difficult situation mylittlepud, what were you confused about at GPs? BTW Please tell me that ESM isn't putting in any kind of prolonged appearance near xmas with her delightful gifts!

susiec you have my sympathy about dentist...the only upside is being too sore to eat IME

we all have a draining viral thing at the mo' (again)but managed to keep a friend company at webbs of wychbold today

so
brekkie....porridge
lunch......small baguette tuna and mayo, a few crisps and salady bits.
mids.......tiffin
eve........fish pie and carrots
just cappuccino and a mince pie

so,not exactly a diet day but not too extreme!
