Fit by end of lockdown

applepineapple · 05/01/2021 20:18

I want to use lockdown 3 to work on my goals and get fit! I was doing really well until Xmas, at 56.9 and yesterday I was at 59.6!

I'm hoping this thread will keep me accountable along with calorie tracking on Lose It and my exercise classes (back on zoom, boo!)

Fresh start from tomorrow with a weigh in ready for the next 5 1/2 weeks or so GrinGrin

Lazy weekend here too. Much as I’d love to be braving the elements to have a snowy walk (and catch Pokémon 😳😁) the cold just isn’t worth the resulting pain for me 🤬 so I stayed home yesterday. Hopefully it’ll thaw out a bit later. I did manage some stepping on Saturday.

Food wise... best not talk about that. 😳

sar302 · 10/02/2021 20:15

How's everyone getting on?

1hr active on Monday, made up of PE with Joe and an insane zoom toddler class.

1hr active today - PE with Joe again and a yoga session.

Tuesday passed me by!

SingToTheSky · 10/02/2021 20:45

Sounds like you made up for it on Monday and today though!
I had an active day yesterday - ringfit and my weights routine as well as a walk in the park. Just another walk today, I feel pretty flat.

applepineapple · 10/02/2021 23:14

Well done on all the exercise! I've been keeping up with my classes this week. Been pretty stationary on the scales but my period came three days early so blaming it on that! I always hold on to more weight around that time of the month.

Planning a walk into town and back tomorrow, haven't been properly out for days so looking forward to that. Just hope it's not too busy Confused

Mind if I join? I weigh 63kgs and am 5'6". The older I am, the less weight I seem able to carry without everything pooching. I need to lose at least 2kg. I have a stepper to use in front of the TV, so I catch up steps that way and do arm weights at the same time. I still only make up to about 11k though. And initial enthusiasm about pelvic floor and running was zapped by a UTI. My new year lockdown plan was to look like Linda Hamilton, but then I looked at the training plans and it's never happening. Still trying to get good arms (hers were so strong but thin in T2) but now I'm in my 40s the bingo wings just won't go. Any tips? I use 4kg weights.
I've signed up to Les Mills trial but there are no barbells available anywhere. Was hoping to do body pump but that'll be crap without the gear. What else is good for fitness and strength?
I also do rowing on my concept 2 twice a week, but it has a terrible effect on my appetite. Argh I'm rambling!!

applepineapple · 11/02/2021 07:59

Hi tatutata, definitely. The more the merrier!
11k is great on the stepper, well done!
I like Hasfit on Yourube for strength exercises. I find them really encouraging and positive. Also body weight exercises like push ups and plank will help too. Smile

Failed terribly today! Too much sugar and have retreated to bed with a headache. Definitely feeling sorry for myself Sad and then we have fancy valentines meal tomorrow so basically this weekend is a write off food wise!

Oh well, Monday is a new week and back on it then! BlushSmile

Yep, I failed too towards the end of last week! Was knackered by Saturday and did nothing all weekend - apart from eat my body weight in steak last night 😂 not a good exercise week last week!

But a new week starts today! We've been out for a walk this morning, and I've joined an 8 day kettlebell challenge, so that should see me through the next week. Something new to have a go at.

More and more I'm convinced that the best way to do exercise, is to just try a load of new stuff all the time. Stops me getting bored!

SingToTheSky · 15/02/2021 13:22

Doing really quite badly here. Had a rough week and have started new meds which have unexpectedly knocked me sideways mentally so I’m just overwhelmed and craving junk food and not exercising either 🤦🏽‍♀️

applepineapple · 15/02/2021 22:11

Hopefully this can be a fresh week for all of us! Stuck to my meal plan today, nearly grabbed a biscuit this afternoon but I can't give up on the first day BlushGrin

@SingToTheSky Sometimes it seems like everything's stacked against you doesn't it! Maybe some gentle yoga rather than anything more stressful?

Looks like a few more people have been inspired by our attempt and joined us!

PE with Joe on Monday, and 40mins of kickboxing and a very quick kettlebell session today. Not done much with a kettle bell before. Jesus Christ..... I could barely walk after! Never known legs so wobbly?

How's everyone else getting on?

applepineapple · 17/02/2021 09:39

You've been busy Sar! Well done with the kettlebells!

I've been keeping up with my regular online classes, I find if I keep to a schedule then I know whether I'm coming or going Grin pleasingly, most of the weight I had put on last week has come off so it was probably just water weight.

OP posts:
sar302 · 18/02/2021 21:33

Thank you @applepineapple ! Did another kettle bell session tonight after a "dynamic stretching" session. Which sounds a bit wanky Grin but it was definitely dynamic and stretchy, so I don't know what else to call it!

I am definitely not loosing the kind of weight it feels like I should with the upped amount of exercise since the new year. Which sadly goes to show that you cannot out-train a bad diet. Time to put the chocolates away....

Pilates scheduled for tomorrow (you're totally right, I rarely miss a properly scheduled session, it is motivating!) But I may turn my laptop camera off so she can't see me collapse if the kettlebells have all been a bit too much!

applepineapple · 21/02/2021 21:58

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I had my usual classes plus a long walk today, feeling good Smile

I need to get back on the spin bike which has languished in the corner of my room for maybe a month or so. I know I'm more likely to do something if I've planned ahead so I've put some time in my calendar to do a few classes next week. I'll probably stick to 20min classes to get back into it and then see how I go.

Good weekend here thanks!

Different workouts for me this weekend - a 90min walk through the countryside. Without the toddler! So at actual adult pace, enough to get a bit breathless. It was great! Much better weather for it.
Then on Sunday is was about two hours of hardcore gardening - lots of lifting and bending over for stuff - so that was me done for the day.

The kettlebells were fun, but didn't feel great for my (usually very well controlled) prolapse, which I'm always very careful about. So that might have to be put to the side for now, at least until I'm a bit stronger. My "core and floor" is not as good as it was prelockdown, after a year of barely moving.

Might be a week of more gently exercise for me this week. Definitely want to fit in another proper walk at some point.

sar302 · 22/02/2021 17:41

So it looks like we actually might have near enough an end of lockdown date 😱

17th of May is my focus. Not quite the end, but hopefully when we can start mixing inside and therefore means I can travel to see friends and family who I won't have seen for a while.

Got to be in shape for that. Gives me 12 weeks.....

SingToTheSky · 22/02/2021 18:03

Feeling a bit better here. I think I’m over the worst of the anxiety from the meds and I lost 2lb this week which was unexpected tbh. Back to nursery runs each morning (DH collects) so at least that’s guaranteed walking.

DD1 (13) is on a bit of a health kick too - keeping an eye there though as she’s right at the bottom end of healthy weight ATM. So trying to ensure the focus is on nutrition, she’s not mentioned calories and all that stuff thankfully.

applepineapple · 22/02/2021 23:24

I know what you mean Sar it's definitely good to have a goal to aim for Smile

Glad to hear you're feeling better Sing. Hope you daughter is okay, it's shocking how much body image is pushed on younger children. I've been watching some funny tik tok videos recently and even without meaning too, I get lots of diet and exercise videos come up on my recommendation page, most of the girls in them look very slim. Concentrating on having a healthy and nutritious balanced diet is a good idea to focus on.

Trying out some walking this week.
I've found a circuit I can do in 45mins at a speedy, vaguely out of breath pace. It all seems to be up hill somehow, but that's extra good for the heart Grin and a nice mix of fields and villages.
Earphones in, I'm enjoying myself this week.
Walks on tues and thurs. Will try and fit a few more goes in this week.

Enjoy the better weather everyone!

SingToTheSky · 25/02/2021 14:39

Thanks apple :)

Trying to persuade myself to have a quick walk in a bit.

applepineapple · 26/02/2021 17:49

Hope everyone is doing well Smile I'm going to try to cut down on snacking in the afternoon, I'm sure the peckish fairies come along at about 4pm and try to get me off track! I usually have my lunch around 12 but I'm going to try having it at 1pm instead, hopefully that will help see me through the afternoon!

I've also been back on the spin bike, just a few 20 min classes to get back into the swing of it Grin

Yep, late afternoon is my danger zone too! Especially as we tend to eat dinner quite late.

We were back out in the garden today - work out was manual labour.

Our toddler's nursery bubble burst, so he has to isolate for the next week or so still. Which means Im going to struggle to get out of the house! So it might be back to kickboxing again next week. I've been enjoying my sunny solo walks too 😭

sar302 · 01/03/2021 17:52

Pe with Joe this morning. Managed to thump my toddler in the face whilst warming up my shoulders with gusto. Thankfully he's fairly hardy 😬 or his face is at least!

5 days of isolation left to go...

sar302 · 04/03/2021 19:56

Did PE with Joe yesterday, but nothing today. We're still juggling work, study, meetings etc while our toddler is off nursery.

No pilates tomorrow, as DS will be running around trying to lie on me while I plank 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hoping for some sunshine at the weekend as isolation ends and I can get out for a walk again!

Hope everyone is doing ok. Counting down to the gym / pool being back open!
