Fit by end of lockdown

applepineapple · 05/01/2021 20:18

I want to use lockdown 3 to work on my goals and get fit! I was doing really well until Xmas, at 56.9 and yesterday I was at 59.6!

I'm hoping this thread will keep me accountable along with calorie tracking on Lose It and my exercise classes (back on zoom, boo!)

Fresh start from tomorrow with a weigh in ready for the next 5 1/2 weeks or so GrinGrin

Done my classes for today, hit and barre. Got Pilates planned for tomorrow morning, I might look up a YouTube workout to do alongside that or go for a walk, it depends how I feel tomorrow Grin

Hope everyone else is enjoying their weekend Smile

HIiT and barre - you're going to be aching tomorrow!!

I did 40mins of kickboxing first thing this morning, while my husband had our little boy. He normally joins in with PE with Joe (by which I mean he runs around me in circles manically and every so often shouts "mummy look, I plankin'!" Which is quite sweet). But I don't think he'd concentrate for 40mins.... or appreciate getting roundhouse kicked in the head 😂

Might try another kickboxing session tomorrow. After some fairly nasty birth injuries, I did several years of physio and Pilates, but nothing cardio-like, and I have to say, I am loving proper sweating!! It feels like it's been forever!!

sar302 · 23/01/2021 19:27

@SingToTheSky I hope you're feeling a bit better today!

SingToTheSky · 24/01/2021 22:49

Thank you @sar302 luckily it was just a brief minor bug so just felt wobbly the next day. Managed my weights routine this evening but that’s it, I’m really achy.

applepineapple · 25/01/2021 18:45

Back to the HIIT this morning and Pilates (although interrupted by a very clingy cat!).

sar302 I don't actually get too achy, sometimes I wonder whether I'm not putting enough effort in but I don't really want to ache either!

Hopped on the scales this morning and I've been the same for about three days! I'm making an effort with water today, I do drink less over the weekend so we'll see what's happened tomorrow Grin

Well, I've failed to do any specific exercise during the last two days, but I did spend both days playing in the snow! Lots of stomping around and making snowmen. So I shall count that instead. Was huge fun.

I find that if I'm exercising consistently, I def ache less. Or maybe it just pushes the DOMS back indefinitely 😂

My abs (ha!) and inner thighs are the exception to that rule and Pilates can make them ache!!!

applepineapple · 26/01/2021 23:18

Stomping in snow definitely counts as exercise! Grin glad you all had fun Smile

The scales were down this morning, woo! Hopefully they continue that way as I now have less than 2kg left to reach my goal Smile

Stuck to the meal plan today with yoga and Pilates classes done.

I’ve been running (essential!) errands the last couple of days which meant I went out twice each day. Am absolutely shattered TBH 😳 I also managed a tiny workout/stretch earlier, which TBH was probably a silly idea knowing I had to go out to get my ECG done too.

I know what you mean about pushing the DOMS back indefinitely 😂 sometimes I feel like I do worse if I stop. Muscle/joint stiffness seems to set in very quickly! Much as I hate getting up in the mornings I know it’s a good thing to be having to take the little one to nursery (last term DH did pretty much all of it, now we split it evenly)

sar302 · 28/01/2021 12:12

Loving the scale success! Well done!

I have more left to lose, but since joining this thread, I've lost 3lbs and an inch off my waist (possibly, depending on consistency of measurement!) So I'm happy with that for a start.

Looks like we're locked down til at least March 8th, so at least another 6 weeks to kickstart the fitness!

Hope the ECG went ok. And glad the nursery walk is providing some consistency. I that's crucial, otherwise I just sort of binge exercise and then do nothing.

applepineapple · 28/01/2021 20:26

Can't believe it's been nearly a year! Shocking but at the same time so quick Shock definitely hoping to emerge as a beautiful butterfly GrinGrin

And of course the scale is back up! I've redownloaded Happy Scale which shows you a nice average of your weights rather than the up and down you get with weighing usually. I find it helpful to see remind myself that I am loosing weight and not to get too downhearted when the scale goes back up with usual bodily fluctuations. I also need to re measure my waist and legs (my least favourite parts) as I'm hoping that they have got smaller too Smile

Went for a long walk after work today, I didn't really want to but I've been feeling a bit down so made myself go out and felt much better for it. Also I've eaten more than my meal plan today but I enjoyed it and tomorrow is a new day Smile

I am also using this lockdown to get fit and I'm currently feeling very motivated. I work out of the home 5 days a week so I'm not sure why I feel this is my time lol. Last year I was furloughed and also used that time to up my fitness... it went very well but I slacked off again over winter and the eating got out of control!

Anyway, back to it. My main goal is to increase my use of weight as I have them but do prefer HIIT (and cardio Les Mills classes such as Combat and Attack). I just want to incorporate a GRIT Strength and a Pump class in weekly. I've achieved that so far this week and feel great for it.

My step goal is 15k minimum daily!

SingToTheSky · 28/01/2021 21:47

What a year it’s been 😩

I know what you mean about an exercise binge.

My exercise ball arrived today but I’ve got to do my current smaller weights routine a bit more before I incorporate that. I was done in today so didn’t do anything after the nursery run

sar302 · 31/01/2021 15:13

15k minimum daily is so hard when working from home everyday! How do you fit it in?

Yep, almost a whole year. Too sad to think about for too long!

This weekend has been a bit of a shocker diet-wise. But I did 50mins kickboxing on Friday, and we went out for a lovely walk this morning.

My Fitbit says I'm passing the 150mins a week of cardio that the government recommends we should be aiming for. Although it does also appear to give me bonus minutes for "insane" level cardio, so that might not be entirely accurate!

My aim for Feb therefore (how on earth is it February tomorrow? 🤨) is going to be 60 active minutes a day, 4/5 times a week.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Spodge · 31/01/2021 18:48

I'm also going for fitness during lockdown. Since the end seems to be stretching ever further into the future I think we will all be fit as fleas by the end of this.

Well done, everyone. Keep at it!

SingToTheSky · 31/01/2021 18:52

I have given up for now, we’ve been very lazy and on screens basically all day! Waiting for DH’s covid result, he’s unwell in bed and I’ve accepted I basically can’t cope with the uncertainty and worry so I’m embracing family laziness for the next few days 😳

lostmymind20 · 31/01/2021 18:56

How do you fit 15k steps in? I've managed to get mine to between 11-12k each day but not sure I could fit in another 3k?

Measures myself since the start of jan and I've lost inches which is a good start. I've not changed my diet at all - which I really ought to do. Chocolate for breakfast isn't helping things 🤦🏻‍♀️

So a full week of tracking, well within deficit. A minimum of 15k steps (Friday was 25k!), have worked out 6 days a week, 3 of them with weights and I’ve gained 0.5lb! Gutted but I do know weight isn’t linear and maybe I’m holding water as I’ve gone over with the exercise?

I am disheartened but I know I’ve worked really hard and I feel so in control (and feeling out of control is my main issue!)... just hope I get a whoosh effect maybe.

I’m going to do 2 days less exercise this week I think!

applepineapple · 01/02/2021 19:44

How much water do you drink sociallydistained? I know it sounds counterintuitive but the more you drink, the easier it is for the body to flush out fat. Fingers crossed for a whoosh Grin

Another month, today, I like that it's four weeks exactly Blush really want to make more progress on the scales in Feb. HIIT and barre done for today, I'm going to carry on with the 16:8 as I think it works for me. No snacking today as I was tied to my desk all afternoon, just trying to finish my last bottle of water for the day.

Good to see everyone is making good progress. Don't worry about any lazy days, we all need rest and relaxation! If you're pushing yourself too hard then it's not good Thanks

I tried to up my liquids today. Did a litre and a bit (plus a can of Diet Coke). But I know its not quite enough - especially after an hour or so of exercise! Hoping the fat will whoosh out 😂

76 sweaty minutes today according to Fitbit.
But only 19 yesterday. I def find it harder on the days when I have our toddler home by myself all day.

Ive noticed a nice health bonus though - according to my Fitbit (possibly not the most accurate, but a starting point), my resting heart rate has dropped from around 87bpm at Christmas time, to 72bpm today. Not bad for 6 weeks work!

Hope everyone had a good start to the week.

applepineapple · 04/02/2021 17:35

Hi everyone. Just come back from a nice long walk in between the rain we're having today! Scales were lower this morning which was a nice surprise. I'm really trying to keep up with my water intake which really helps me. I've been quite busy all week with various exercise classes, today was the only day where I didn't have anything booked. Safe to say I definitely enjoyed my lie in GrinGrin

Well done on the loss apple!

I have been doing really badly TBH. January motivation was Not Good! Then self isolating last weekend messed with my head and now nursery is closed (although I can’t deny the fact I can sleep later is welcome)

Will take a walk today as I can drop library books back contact free.

sar302 · 05/02/2021 11:19

Oh no, did you get a bubble burst at nursery? I know it's only a matter of time before my DSs bubble bursts and we're stuck at home for 10 days. Just cross my fingers every day that today isn't the day...Hope the walk clears your head, it's so hard getting started again once you've stopped.

Good exercise morning for me. 40mins kickboxing and 40mins Zoom Pilates inbetween drop off at nursery and some studying.

I'm up to 4.5hrs so far this week. Fitbit gave me the happy buzzy celebration on my wrist at 150mins. Means I've hit my target of 4-5hrs a week in Feb. Aiming to get another 2 sessions in over the weekend.... but no more today as my body is weeping 😂

SingToTheSky · 05/02/2021 11:40

Yep, a staff member got a positive. Luckily we didn’t have to isolate as neither she nor DD2 had been in, but they had to close! Not back till after half term now.

Well done on your active time!

sar302 · 07/02/2021 20:20

Oh wow, close call! Good that you're not having to self isolate though.

This weekend has been a bust for me!

Too much eating and, apart from Saturday morning, very little exercise.

Tomorrow is the start of a new week.... hope everyone had a better weekend.
