From 12 stone to 10 stone by 1st January 2021

I've just tried a pair of new trousers on.

I bought a 14, as I knew I'd gained weight recently, and yet they still felt a little tight, so I stepped on the scales and discovered that I now weigh 12 stone! 12 stone! How did that happen?

Boredom, lock-downs and share-packs of Haribo, that's how it's happened. I haven't even started wolfing the Christmas goodies and mincey pies yet, either. Another few heavy munch sessions and I'll be wobbling into 2021, sobbing softly on the bed wrapped in duvet because none of my clothes fit.

Despite Christmas, and despite COVID, I'm not going into the new year as a fat bastard and then struggling all spring to lose weight. And so, starting tomorrow, I'm daily exercising and dieting and foregoing the crisps and cakes and I WILL BE 10 STONE BY 1st JANUARY 2020.

I'll be updating my vital stats weekly.. Today, they are...

5"7", 168lbs (73kg), and 40-33-41. BMI 26.3.

If anyone wants to join me, feel free to jump on board.

Hi can I join please?! I'm 5'5, also 168 lbs. Have started walking 3 miles a day and keeping a food diary. Also can't believe I'm 12st! Nothing fits!!

yaboo · 19/11/2020 14:20

yeah, of course you can...

day 2, for me. Went for walk yesterday, aiming for another walk today. How about you?

Ladybird345 · 19/11/2020 14:22

Wish I weighed 12 stone. Good luck op!

ClaireP20 · 19/11/2020 14:24

Jumping on board...also 5ft 7 and 12 stone 6 x

MirandaWest · 19/11/2020 14:27

I weighed myself on 23rd June and was 79.5kg. Am currently around 65kg so very near the 10 stone barrier. I’ve been counting calories, exercising more and trying (and mainly succeeding) in avoiding too much sugar...

My aim is to get to 60kg...would like to do that before Christmas but will just take things as they come Smile

Jelly4444 · 19/11/2020 14:29

I'll join you Yaboo! I walk 6kms everyday. But it doesn't seem to help. I'll need to look at food I think.

12 stone 8lbs here Sad I don't know whats going on with me! I was always the skinny one amongst my friends.

Sn0opy · 19/11/2020 14:35

I've been walking loads more than usual and the weight is slowly coming off, 166.4 today! I've found a food diary is really helping me to be more accountable! Good luck all!

janetmendoza · 19/11/2020 14:37

I'll join you please. My goal is 9.5 stone having gone up to 11 stone during lockdown. Eating less walking every day and planning to start couch 25k beginning of Jan and get back into running.

yaboo · 19/11/2020 16:18

yay, more people!

Thanks, Ladybird345 for the good luck comment.

Hello to ClareP20, MirandaWest, Jelly444 and janetmendoza.

congrats on your loss, sn0opy, every pound counts.

Great to hear everyone's plans... keep going, people, we got this x

You should probably set yourself a more realistic target. Even if you didn't binge over Christmas you'd need to lose 4lbs a week. That's not realistic.

happylittlechick · 19/11/2020 16:25

I aiming for 6 more lbs by Christmas and just hoping I don't gain it all back by January

Cavagirl · 19/11/2020 17:10

I'll join too! I'm 5'5 & was 11st5 early July, have lost a stone since then but frankly have been bumbling around the mid to low 10 stones since end August once most of my nice clothes fitted again. Went back up to 10st9 after half term Blush
Lockdown has given me a renewed inspiration there's nowhere to go out and would love to at least get below 10st by Christmas. I'm just before 10st 5 today so I hope I can do it! Joining this thread to keep me on the straight & narrow! Good luck everyone!

This.

I've been working sooooo hard and eating 1200 calories or under every day and have lost 7lbs in 5 weeks. How can you possibly lose 2 stone by Xmas? You're just setting yourself up to fail.

Sn0opy · 19/11/2020 17:29

Hi @Cavagirl how did you lose your stone?

Lazysundayafternoons · 19/11/2020 17:34

I badly need to lose weight too but have been really lacking in motivation.

I can do it when I try, I have before sp hopefully being on this thread will help to motivate me.

MirandaWest · 19/11/2020 17:44

I do agree that 2 stone in about 6 weeks is a big amount. My nearly 2.5 stone in about 5 months has been about right for me I think

Cavagirl · 19/11/2020 17:46

Hey @Sn0opy I followed Dukan, and I'm back on it now. My logic was if it's good enough for the Duchess of Cambridge...! I actually got down to my goal weight (9st7) on it a while back but for various reasons I didn't do the final stage which is the bit that's meant to keep the weight off and surprise surprise I gradually put it back on. So I'm determined to finish the job this time!
It's not for everyone but it's really worked for me and you get really fast results initially. I hate counting etc (I'm always pretty generous - that chocolate bar was 5 grams I reckon) and with Dukan you can eat as much as you like of allowed foods which I like. Let me know if you want to know more x

Sn0opy · 19/11/2020 20:14

That sounds good @Cavagirl - it probably wouldn't suit me as I'm a vegetarian! Well done on losing a stone, I was 9 and a half stone about 14 years ago(!!!!) But would love to get back to that. At the moment would be happy go get under 11 and then go from there! Feeling motivated reading the posts though and at the moment clothes are feeling a little less snug...

MichelleScarn · 19/11/2020 20:20

Joining in, have put on over 2 stone since March. I'll have to work in kg as the app on my phone works in that.
So 5' 1" currently heaviest have ever been at 68kg!

MichelleScarn · 19/11/2020 20:21

Actually have just managed to change it to lbs so am 150lbs... eesshhkk!

Cavagirl · 19/11/2020 21:51

Hey @Sn0opy ah yes it definitely isn't a diet for veggies unfortunately due to the focus on lean protein, unless you reeeeally love tofu & low fat dairy!
I find you just need a couple of days of good loss to get inspired and push on. I failed to get beyond a certain point on 5:2 & MFP and started to sort of believe my body wouldn't do it, if that makes sense? So Dukan was a bit of a revelation in that I realised it's just perseverance and consistency and it will happen (nothing special about the diet, I just found it easier to stick to).
So much of it is in the mind, your body will do what it's told in the end. You can do it, and you will!

Puffalicious · 19/11/2020 23:04

Cavagirl I'd like to know more about the Dukan if you don't mind. I'm pescatarian, would that be practical?

Sn0opy · 20/11/2020 08:11

Thanks @Cavagirl for the motivation! Hi @MichelleScarn what's your goal weight? How's it going everyone else? Any losses to report yet this week? Weekend is usually my downfall so I'm determined to be good!

RoyalChocolat · 20/11/2020 08:55

Just saying hi because I am exactly the same height and weight as you OP (same hip measurement too). I am quite happy with my figure ATM because I have just gone down from 13st 10lb, but I would like to weigh a little over 10st eventually. I am doing keto and 16:8.

I agree with previous posters that your goal is probably too ambitious. Why focus on a specific date? Presumably you want to weigh 10 stone for the rest of your life - does it really matter if you reach your goal in January or in March?

Sabrina124 · 20/11/2020 09:13

OP you will never lose 2 stone in 6 weeks. I have lost 2 stone in four and half months and that has been hard - intermittent fasting and restricting calories to under 1200 a day. I think you should aim to lose 7lb by New Year and 2 stone by Easter for a more realistic target.
