I will be attempting to sort my fatness out, and start to make an effort with myself again.

I'm starting tomorrow, who's in?

OP posts:
FatGirlShrinking · 10/10/2020 12:57

I've been on this diet since 1st August, as of this morning I've lost 1/8 of my starting body weight, going from 233lb to 204. Tantalisingly close to being under 200lbs and only 7lb till I'm not obese anymore.

Minnie123456 · 10/10/2020 22:44

Finally weighed myself. I'm 13 stone 7lbs. Hopefully by Christmas I will be 12 stone 7lbs,
Have put this as my target in my weight loss tracker, hopefully by giving myself smaller goals I will be able to stick at it. To get to Overweight range I need to loose 1stone 6lbs.
Going to weigh myself every weekend as I find it easier to do it then.
Well done to everyone who has lost.

DownUdderer · 11/10/2020 09:50

The start of a new week is almost here. I'm trying to focus in on having good snacks to hand that help, not hinder progress.

Good luck everyone.

LosingItInLockdown · 12/10/2020 03:49

Not doing so well here. Pizza and too much sugar over the past few days mean I’ve actually gained weight Sad. My run was also really bad, which made me feel awful and turn to food. Grrr..

Oh well. The start of a new weeks. I hope everyone has a good week!

DownUdderer · 12/10/2020 04:00

I gained a pound over the weekend, I'm really miffed.

Today I've done a long arduous hike, I hadn't realized it was going to be so steep up and down and up and down! I definitely burned calories, my legs were like jelly after ten minutes!

DownUdderer · 12/10/2020 04:01

@LosingItInLockdown why was your run bad? I hope you didn't injure yourself. Here's to a good week this week for everyone!

LosingItInLockdown · 12/10/2020 04:19

@DownUdderer - I have a bad foot injury and also have some pelvic damage from pregnancy. I’d rested for a good two weeks and felt ok, so planned to do 7km (a challenge for me). Anyway, I wasn’t even 1km down the road when the hip and foot both became unbearable Sad. So of course I came home and ate a load of chocolate...

I’m sorry you have gained a little too. That’s great news about the hike though! Very impressive stuff!

DownUdderer · 12/10/2020 05:53

Injuries are tricky! Often a physiotherapist can help, but during coronavirus I'm not sure if you can see one! I did pilates after stuffing up my back after the birth of my first child, that helped build up my core, which was affecting my back. I think my core muscles weren't doing what they were supposed to be doing and my back muscles were over compensating.

NatMoz · 12/10/2020 07:29

So today is weigh in day for me.
So far the scales have gone:

Starting weight: 11 12
Week 1: 11 10.5
Week 2: 11 11

So I've put on half a pound this week 😓😓😓.
Going to have to try and rethink this again and reduce carbs where possible as what I'm doing doesn't seem to be making the difference I want it to.

Both weeks I've run around 25-27 miles too and a couple of walks.

Deary me back to the drawing board.

Snipples · 12/10/2020 11:24

Weighed self this morning and scales showing 13.10 so I have completely fallen out with my scales as they're just teasing me and then torturing me. So bloody annoying.

Cals have been consistently under. I am not looking at them again until end of this week and they better be back at 13.5 or I'm taking the hammer to them.

Graciebobcat · 12/10/2020 11:57

Well done everyone. I'm trying to lose at least another 12lbs or so by Christmas then another stone in the New Year to get to goal. 6lbs down so far in the last month.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 12/10/2020 12:00

I'd like to join to make myself accountable. I managed to lose four stone after DS was born five years ago and two of it has crept back on - mostly during lockdown. The initial weight loss was by using MyFitnessPal and sticking to 1200 calories, more or less, for months and months on end.

I'm 12.6 this morning and aiming for a stone and a half off by Christmas. At least it should be easier this year with no parties to go to!

Can I just recommend protein porridge, which I had for breakfast and am well impressed by. I avoid porridge as a rule as I'm hungry again by 10.30am but it's 12.00 now and I'm still full. Mine was Oat So Simple protein porridge but I'm wondering if regular porridge with a few scoops of protein powder would be the same (and cheaper).

Graciebobcat · 12/10/2020 12:37

Ooh, interesting. Yes I find normal porridge not filling at all on its own. I have some peanut butter powder which may do a similar thing, it's tasty but I think fewer calories/fat than actual peanut butter.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 12/10/2020 15:09

@Graciebobcat peanut butter powder sounds delicious! If it's high protein I bet it would work in porridge. I'm wondering if porridge for lunch would be do-able as well (although that leaves a lot of fruit and veg to cram in the evening I guess).

FatGirlShrinking · 12/10/2020 15:30

I had mushrooms on toast for lunch, haven't had it for ages but only 167 calories and delicious.

1 slice of Allinsons super seeded whole grain bread with a teaspoon of flora plant based buttery spread. A cup of sliced mushrooms fried with another teaspoon of buttery and plenty of seasoning.

I don't eat breakfast but have had porridge for lunch before, it's one of the things I used to take when I was travelling for work, I'd make it a bit runny then pack it up in a thermos lunch jar. It would stay hot and thicken a little more, perfect for a cold day on a train. I particularly like it with apple chunks, cinnamon and sultanas as tastes like apple pie and the longer the apple sits in the warm porridge the softer and more syrupy it gets.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 12/10/2020 15:40

Apple pie porridge sounds amazing and I like the idea of the Thermos. Anything for lunch has got to be better than a rubbishy Boots sandwich which leaves me primed and ready to devour the contents of the fridge when I get home.

oo0Tinkerbell0oo · 12/10/2020 15:52

I would love to follow and take part. Hopefully reading others success will motivate me.....i'm currently 11st 9lbs and would like to lose 2 maybe 2.5 stone. Using mfp. Good luck everyone.

FatGirlShrinking · 12/10/2020 16:19

@MonkeyGoneToHeaven if you have access to a microwave at work a fantastic lunch is

  • mason jar or microwaveable Tupperware tub
  • chop mushrooms, spring onion, peppers, little bit of mature grated cheddar, salt and pepper into tub in the morning, put 2 uncracked whole eggs in the tub.
  • at lunch time crack the eggs into the veg and cheese, give it all a good stir.

30-45 seconds per egg in the microwave, stirring half way through.

Hot, filling and full of protein and veg

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 12/10/2020 17:12

Ooh thank you @FatGirlShrinking - I will try that.

The Balanced For You meal pots from M&S are good (especially the chilli) - 350 calories each, high protein and ambient temperature so they can live in a desk drawer. I just never seem to get time to get to M&S to buy them.

FatGirlShrinking · 12/10/2020 17:25

You can even add a bit of a kick if you like Mexican food, using spring onions, green pepper, finely sliced chilli, maybe a pinch of paprika then the eggs and cheese, maybe even a little sprinkle of hot sauce.

DownUdderer · 13/10/2020 07:00

I’ve had a good day so far, I had veggies and cheese for lunch, strawberries for a snack. We’ll have stir fry for dinner. I won’t have any noodles though. I’m drinking plenty of water.

I am preferring a big lunch and smaller dinner these days, by the time I’ve cooked dinner I just lose my appetite. So I have a small portion.

I’m hoping to lose 5lb, maybe a bit more depending on how I go.

Graciebobcat · 13/10/2020 11:05

Super idea @FatGirlShrinking. Might even do that for lunch at home.

@MonkeyGoneToHeaven The PB powder I have also has cocoa, just a hint of chocolate but it is delicious in porridge and tastes like it should be a lot more calorific than it is.

Graciebobcat · 13/10/2020 11:09

I'm getting into the danger zone now of having lost a few pounds and feeling much better. Sometimes I just think "Ah, I'm all right now" and slip into old eating habits, rather than realising that why I feel better is because of the change of diet and that I should keep going with it. My goal is some way off yet.

How do you keep going and what keeps you motivated?

DownUdderer · 14/10/2020 00:37

Keeping up with weightloss threads on mumsnet really helps me stick at it, without checking in I'm sure I'd give up. Also I'm just feeling determined at the moment.

Also I think maybe next weekend I'll let myself have a little treat, that's keeping me going! So sort of delayed gratification.
