Joe Wicks 90 day plan hasn't work for the second time round.

I've been doing joe wicks' 90 day plan for a while.

I started in April and finished in July. And at the end weighed 8lb heavier then when I started. After kicking up a fuss and endless unhappy emails to the "Support heroes". They sent it to me a second time, free of charge.

I've just finished my free second go at his plan. Followed it to the T and I'm now fatter and I weight a st heavier then when I started in April. I go out hiking and walking and do his exercises 5/6 times a week atm. So I'm active. Yet instead of weighing 9st like I wanted by October, I weight 12st 5. I started at 11st5. So as you can tell I'm not happy.

Surely this isn't how his plan is meant to work.

My mum has said to me at the start of the second go: "if it doesn't work this time round then move away from Joe Wicks as it obv didn't work and isn't for you"

Im thinking about going to Greg Wallace' Showme.fit plan. Or back to Slimming World.

I'm just at a loss. I feel fat currently and although feeling stronger. I'm not happy with how I look. And all I got told by the SH is "trust in the plan". And i can't if it's made me gain weight.

I know I know a lot of people have done well and I'm happy for them but what about people like me who haven't done so well on his plan.

Thanks x

Does the plan include nutrition as well as exercise?

BIWI · 30/08/2020 15:52

Weight loss is about diet, not exercise. You have to do a lot of exercise to see any significant weight loss.

What is your diet like? What are you eating/drinking on a typical day?

Blueemeraldagain · 30/08/2020 15:54

Did you take any measurements? The number on the scale isn’t the be all and end all. Muscle is denser than fat, the same amount of muscle takes up less room than that of fat.

Butternutsqoosh · 30/08/2020 15:55

Did you follow the food plan? It's all about the nutrition the exercise just helps

Followed it to a T. Just bit let down with his plan tbh. I'm definitely not doing it a third time.

I'm doing the joe wicks plan. So that's currently my diet... And I've been going hell bent for leather to loss this weight. And it hasn't happened like I thought it would the second time round.

How are your clothes fitting?

BIWI · 30/08/2020 16:10

Well it's clearly a plan that isn't working! I have no idea what he recommends. Give me a clue - what would a day's menu be for you/the plan?

flatoutpanic · 30/08/2020 16:15

I know 2 people who gained weight on the JW plan.

How about portion sizes?

Personally I would need to do his low carb days every day in order to lose weight.

LarryUnderwood · 30/08/2020 16:15

You need q calorie deficit to lose weight. The 90 day plan does include a lot of food and its npt as tailored as they make out I don't think so its possible the food plan just hasn't created a deficit for you. Use an online calculator to estimate your total daily energy expenditure, then use that to set a manageable deficit and track every mouthful on my fitness pal. Can do this for free on the James Smith academy website (not a recommendation as havent used this, but know the website has the calculators available for free).

But that’s because I’m a secretly devoted follower of @BIWI ‘s low carb boot camp!
LarryUnderwood · 30/08/2020 16:18

deficit creation is the only way to lose weight- any diet that works does this. Eg low carb = calorie deficit etc. So then its finding the way of eating that is most sustainable for you. I used to find low carb perfect - satiating, tasty food, easy to eat out. But now I have kids and my lifestyle has changed I find low carb impossible. I'm still trying to find the right way for me! But I know it has to involve a calorie deficit.

fartyface · 30/08/2020 16:19

I don't know anything about this but I wonder why you did it a second time? Or even completed the first. If I am putting on weight I change my habits.

Maybe it works differently on different body types but I have never heard of a diet that increases weight at any point.

Sorry you've been duped op

I've gone up a clothes size and up a few inches... Not doing well for my mental health.

I completed it the first time round because my mum was also doing it and I wanted to finish it. And I go it for free the 2nd time round in August (as I said in my original question.)

Your portion sizes must be too big if you have gained weight. What would you eat in a typical day?

fartyface · 30/08/2020 16:26

Neither of those are good reasons to do it. If it doesn't work, stop.

MsSiriusLupin70 · 30/08/2020 16:27

I plan my meals deposing on if I'm doing a workout. If I'm doing a workout it'll be anything from One of his smoothies or a frittata from the plan. (A meal loaded with carbs once a day. Anytime of the day not just for breakfast).

Lunch.
Pork skewers with home made joes coleslaw.

2 snacks

Dinner
Eggplant Parmesan and veg.

If I'm not doing a workout that day it's no carb refuel meal and just three reduced carb meals. And 2 snacks.

*depending

And I only go with what's on the page portion wise. If I can't manage it all I save it for later.

I would track your calories. I have to drop to 1200-1300 to lose anything which looks like

B - Apple and 15g peanut butter
L - wafer thin chicken sandwich (no spread) and a bag of snack a jacks or a yoghurt
T - gousto meal
Snack - berries, yoghurt or a fibre one bar

Apolloanddaphne · 30/08/2020 16:29

Well it obviously didn't work for you first time so I have no idea why you would do it again. What does it involve exactly?

dementedpixie · 30/08/2020 16:30

maybe lay off the snacks unless they are low calorie. Does he suggest portion sizes for the meals?

dementedpixie · 30/08/2020 16:32

If you are gaining then you need to reduce the amount you eat in each meal

MsSiriusLupin70 · 30/08/2020 16:32

Only did it a gain because I made a fuss about being unhappy about not losing weight, so they gave it to me for free. And I've already been on it a month.

And lots of HIIT workouts 5/6 times a week and following his plan you pay for.
