20 week weightloss challenge...Anyone else want to join me?

MovinOnUp · 29/07/2020 22:33

I have a trip to go on in 20 weeks to a uk resort My daughter is desperate to go horse riding and the weight limit for the horses there is 13 stone.
I weighed myself 2 weeks ago and was 15 stone 8lbs.
I'm down to 14 stone 12lbs today but obviously have a fair bit still to go but hopefully achievable by the holiday.

Anyone want to keep me company in my efforts? I thought I'd start a thread here to keep me focused.

The last two weeks I've been.....

Intermittent fasting (8pm-12noon)
Sticking to 1200 calories or fewer.
No bread or pasta
Walking for an hour every other day.

I'm planning to up the ante on the exercise and find some low impact routines online.

@Shesgotbeef That's a great start :)

@NemoRocksMyWorld I'm doing fine eating wise, Lunch after 12 and dinner around 6-7.
Had a bowl of chilli (400 cals) and vegetable bake (700 cals)
That's my usual calorie intake for meals, If I'm peckish before the 'kitchen closes' I'll have a snack of around 100 calories.

I've not been so hot on the water intake today, Only 2 litres so far, Usually have 4 or 5.

@MovingOnUp please feel free. Always open to any help Smile

My phone keeps adding a 'g' into your user name Blush

Triceratopmeup · 02/08/2020 08:39

Morning all!! So I'm checking in to admit that I may have fallen off the wagon over the weekend! Blush Not too bad on the food front, but I may have fallen into a vat of wine... hence the user name! Weekend's seem to be my downfall. Hope everyone has had a more productive weekend than me!!

Shesgotbeef · 02/08/2020 09:53

Morning all,

Thanks @MovinOnUp and good point about the water, it’s been so hot this week too.

Whenever I’ve dieted before weekend and social gatherings have always been my downfall @Triceratopmeup too. DH is a bit Hmm at me turning down a glass of wine but he’s a skinny thing who doesn’t have to think about it. Today we’ll be making a roast for the family and I’ll be ignoring the roast potatoes Sad but it has to be done 💪 I’m hoping that fewer social things because of social distancing might make it easier...

Twilbury · 02/08/2020 10:02

I am a similar weight to you @MovinOnUp and started a few days ago so will jump on and join you if thats OK.
Exercise wise I am doing couch to 5k and am on wk6 , my main meals are healthy but I snack far too much.
I am using MFP to try and keep on track and I have had a good week and then blew it by going out for dinner last night. Was so good though !

NemoRocksMyWorld · 02/08/2020 10:45

@twilbury... How are you finding week 6? I find it ramps up quite quickly... Have you done the long run at the end of the week? Once I'd done 25 minutes, I found I could just run, so now I just run 5k and track it on Strava. Takes me between 35 and 38 minutes. Did my run this morning and the kids came too, so we've all run 5k!

@Triceratopmeup I find alcohol a really tricky one... I find I can have a small amount of chocolate, but somehow once I start on the wine, I'm three glasses in before I know it. I've just been avoiding it for now, but am totally craving a nice glass of chilled white...

I'm 0.5lbs up this morning, but it is the peril. Of weighing everyday. Onwards and downwards!

MovinOnUp · 02/08/2020 10:53

Morning all!
No loss this morning, Still at 14:10.
Been really good food wise this weekend, But haven't done much in the way of exercise and definitely need to up the water intake.
Pup gets his second set of jabs on Tuesday morning so at least I know I'll get two small walks in each day.
I'm trying to plan a routine for once BF and DC are back at work/school, I work from home and don't start until 10 so I'm thinking...

Up and out for an hours walk at 7 a.m
Back at 8, Make sure kids are fed and dressed and out on time.
Take pup for a small walk.
Home, Quick workout, Housework and shower
Start work at 10 a.m

Looks easy enough written down doesn't it? :)

@NemoRocksMyWorld 'Onwards and downwards' love that!

Twilbury · 02/08/2020 11:15

@NemoRocksMyWorld I actually found it OK, getting the 20mins done at the end of wk 5 definitely helps with the confidence.

It is still tough but I believe I can do it now which helps.

DustingMyselfOff · 02/08/2020 20:50

Had a crap day today Blush first one in nearly 10 weeks so I'm not beating myself up. Bad nights sleep resulted in a bad bad food day. Gonna restart 5:2 from tomorrow. Feel I'm better equipped for that now (and even more determined after today's poor effort!). Bought size 14 jeans today in my favourite style to try and spur me on. My 16s are too loose! Will put my 14s on tomorrow to see how they fit and will use them as my next benchmark. Will weigh in tomorrow too. Having an early night to make up for last night. See you all for a better day tomorrow Wink

MovinOnUp · 02/08/2020 21:16

A bad night's sleep is awful. Just draw a line under today and keep on going.
Kitchen is closed now, I finished up on 1100 today, 3 litres of water but no exercise...just couldn't get in the frame of mind to get going.

Triceratopmeup · 03/08/2020 06:35

So my alcohol fuelled weekend has resulted in a 2lb weight gain this morning! Onwards & downwards for me too... hopefully! I have to keep reminding myself that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Ended yesterday on a grand total of 1100 cals, let's hope I can keep it up!!!

MovinOnUp · 03/08/2020 08:31

@Triceratopmeup That 2lb will be gone by next week.

OP posts:
Triceratopmeup · 03/08/2020 08:37

@MovinOnUp I just fall into a cycle of being a weekday saint & a weekend sinner!

MovinOnUp · 03/08/2020 11:03

@Triceratopmeup Now see once we've lost the weight, That'll be fine.
I'm not drinking at all at the moment, Which is made easier by the fact that DP doesn't drink.

What's your tipple? Could you switch to something really low in calories?
Saying that...for me it's not so much the calories in the alcohol but that the willpower goes out the window when I'm drunk and I'm like the hungry hungry caterpillar and ALL the food.

DustingMyselfOff · 03/08/2020 11:14

Woke up with a bit of a head cold, tired and a snotty nose. It's just how I am when I'm run down through lack of sleep. Still determined to stick with my 500 cal day today though. 184 on the scales so still 15.5 down compared to end of May when I started cal counting. Cant muster the energy to get dressed yet so havent tried on the jeans Blush

Twilbury · 03/08/2020 11:23

Weigh in day today. Have lost 2 pounds which is a start !

Good luck to everyone for a healthy day ahead.

NemoRocksMyWorld · 03/08/2020 11:29

I'm down 0.25 of a lb which is rather glacial progress! My daughter has a sailing course today, but because she has epilepsy I have to sit on the beach the whole time. It could be warmer! Also had no provisions for healthy picnic for myself (obviously made delicious sandwiches for the kids 😂) but am sat next to a kiosk selling bacon sandwiches..... Give me strength!

Triceratopmeup · 03/08/2020 11:41

@MovinOnUp I'm a bit of a wine fiend. Big calories, i know! My only problem is I can't open a bottle without finishing the whole thing!! Blush Even after my wine splurge I'm still showing a loss of 3lbs last week, so can't really complain!! We're off on a staycation for a few days at the end of the week, who knows what damage that will do!!

MovinOnUp · 03/08/2020 12:32

Yeah, Wine is my go to drink also @Triceratopmeup
@NemoRocksMyWorld the smell of bacon I just can't resist, I could bin the roll though :)
@Twilbury That's bloody brilliant, Well done!
@DustingMyselfOff Have a jammie day, The jeans will be there tomorrow.

I haven't weighed myself today yet as I haven't been to the toilet yet, Anyone else finding their bowel movements are a bit sluggish with keeping calories low?

OP posts:
Triceratopmeup · 03/08/2020 13:43

@MovinOnUp Now you come to mention it, yes! I must say I haven't been "regular" since starting to calorie count. I'm going to blame that for my 2lb gain this morning!!

MovinOnUp · 03/08/2020 20:38

@Triceratopmeup I'm eyeing up the castor oil here (if I put it in a shot glass I can pretend it's tequila)

OP posts:
Triceratopmeup · 03/08/2020 21:07

@MovinOnUp I like your thinking! Cheers Wine (It's the closest I could get to a shot glass)

Sootikinstew · 03/08/2020 21:38

In about 20 minutes I will have a new set of scales.
Here's hoping I'm actually about 4 stone less than on the broken ones 😂
