20 week weightloss challenge...Anyone else want to join me?

MovinOnUp · 29/07/2020 22:33

I have a trip to go on in 20 weeks to a uk resort My daughter is desperate to go horse riding and the weight limit for the horses there is 13 stone.
I weighed myself 2 weeks ago and was 15 stone 8lbs.
I'm down to 14 stone 12lbs today but obviously have a fair bit still to go but hopefully achievable by the holiday.

Anyone want to keep me company in my efforts? I thought I'd start a thread here to keep me focused.

The last two weeks I've been.....

Intermittent fasting (8pm-12noon)
Sticking to 1200 calories or fewer.
No bread or pasta
Walking for an hour every other day.

I'm planning to up the ante on the exercise and find some low impact routines online.

It's roasting here too, I'm in Kent. I took the dogs out for just half an hour as it was so hot. Another sign of getting old when you find yourself complaining about the heat.

I was disappointed that I had no washing this morning, would dry so quickly too!

I'm off to town now to buy a battery for my scales. I'm going to weigh every day too.

solait · 31/07/2020 11:02

Just checked my weather app and there is a warning for thunderstorms here from 4pm. How exciting. ⚡️

solait · 31/07/2020 11:05

@NemoRocksMyWorld I am so envious of people who go running. I would love to be able to run but my knees are knackered. Hopefully they will improve a little if I drop some of the lard that I am carrying.

Triceratopmeup · 31/07/2020 11:14

Hi all! Hope you don't mind if I join too. 20 weeks is perfect for me. I turn 40 on New year's day & have given myself a "get fit for 40" target! Been calorie counting since last Fri, no more than 1300cals per day & can confirm that I am 5.5lbs down this morning. I know that most of this is water weight... but a loss is a loss!!! At least that's what I'm telling myself Grin

solait · 31/07/2020 11:26

@Triceratopmeup 5.5lbs is excellent and it's really encouraging Well done and keep at it.

MovinOnUp · 31/07/2020 11:30

Welcome @Triceratopmeup and @magicmallow
Well done @NemoRocksMyWorld you must feel great!
@DustingMyselfOff Don't let the number on the scales do your head in, You know you're doing everything right and the scales will catch up eventually :)

I'm going to go for a 5k fast walk later tonight when it has cooled down, I've got joint issues so running is out for me but I do enjoy a good stomp, Gonna dig out some earphones and listen to the Hamilton soundtrack as I go. Music makes exercise so much easier doesn't it :)

Have a great day everyone :)

@solait... I'm in Kent too! I run extremely slowly. I run up and down the seafront and get lapped by really elderly people and this annoying man who runs with a double pushchair 😂! I never thought I could run but I did c25k with my sister. She is trying to lose weight too, but is a good runner! She bullied and cajoled me through it and now I can slowly do it. It helps that I run at the seafront which is flat as a pancake!

@Triceratopmeup well done on 5.5lbs that's a brilliant start!!

Thanks @MovinOnUp I have 4dc and a rough job. I've really neglected myself for the past ten years. Over lockdown I just got bigger and bigger and felt worse and worse about myself. I was having to lift my C section pouch up to clean under it, and I thought... No I'm going to start looking after myself! I'm down a dress size and feel much better.

solait · 31/07/2020 13:24

@NemoRocksMyWorld I am in Sevenoaks.

Like you, I've been neglecting myself for a few years. I'm so fed up with it and I am trying to make more of an effort. I've put makeup on today for the first time in a couple of years and last night I painted my nails. I really want to fit into my clothes. I've been living in the same old jeans and stripe tops. I look pretty tragic.

NemoRocksMyWorld · 31/07/2020 14:48

@solait I'm in Dover... So you are in the nicer bit of Kent 😁 (although I love living by the sea). Honestly, I've still got a long way to go, but already feel loads better... Starting is the hardest bit!

How is everyone planning on doing it?I calorie count because I love carbs and sugar and can't bring myself to give them up! I track on mfp (free version). I also do 16:8 but find it easy because it fits in with my natural eating pattern.

solait · 31/07/2020 15:00

@NemoRocksMyWorld I miss living by the sea, I grew up in Hove and really miss the beach, especially when the weather is stormy.

I'm counting calories so that I can have chocolate if I need, I'm not good at giving everything nice up. I'm tracking everything that I eat on my Fitbit app. Also going to try and do 10,000 steps per day.

MovinOnUp · 31/07/2020 15:10

Guys, I'm exactly the same.....Completely let myself go...Well no more of that, I deserve better! We deserve better.

OP posts:
solait · 31/07/2020 15:13

@MovinOnUp Yes we do deserve better. I'm going to treat myself to some beauty products online and make a massive effort.

MovinOnUp · 31/07/2020 15:34

@solait Quite right too....I have such a stash of lovely elemis products and I'm not using them regularly enough.
I need to get back into a good skincare routine.

OP posts:
solait · 31/07/2020 15:41

@MovinOnUp yes that's what I want to get back into. My idea of skin care at the moment is getting my face wet in the shower 😂. I want to give my hair some attention and start full body moisturising every day. A little effort can make a big difference.

NemoRocksMyWorld · 31/07/2020 16:00

I've just had my hair done (first time since before Christmas) now rocking a jaunty fringe! Not going to lie.... Missed the class on skin care... I just whack on nivea soft whenever I look flaky....maybe I should investigate this a bit more 😂!

solait · 01/08/2020 08:25

Morning, hope everyone is ok. Thankfully not so hot today, it's hard work being fat in the heat, I was a sweaty mess yesterday.

I've now got my scales up and running and I weigh 11st 11lb. I thought that I would be over 12stone so I am grateful for small mercies.

I will be weighing daily at the same time in the hope that it will keep me on track.

MovinOnUp · 01/08/2020 08:51

Morning all, Stayed the same at 14 st 10lb this morning.
I'm okay with that.
Went for my walk last night, It wasn't a power walk as I went with my friend and her yummy 5 week old baby....but the slower pace was worth it for the newborn snuggles at the end of the walk :)

How's everyone feeling?

I'm feeling great. 12lbs lost has made a massive improvement to my joints and I just have more energy.
Plans today are do the big clean, sort out my wardrobe and go for a 5K walk.

OP posts:
MovinOnUp · 01/08/2020 08:54

@NemoRocksMyWorld A good wash, Bit of nivea and some spf is really all you need for skincare. :)
I'm quite sure all the water I've been drinking is helping my skin too.

NemoRocksMyWorld · 01/08/2020 09:12

I've just finished a night shift, and now have an hour and a half drive home so won't get an accurate weight today!

Plan for today is to get through the day without eating too much due to tiredness.
Good luck on your walk @MovinOnUp! Plus your house cleaning. I really need to clean mine but don't think it will happen today!

Failingbettereverytime · 01/08/2020 09:48

Hi All. I'd like to join you if I may. I weighed in st 13 st 3 lbs this morning which puts my BMI at 30.4 and I'd like to try to get to a BMI of 25 which for me would be 10 st 10lbs. I've managed to lose 12lb over the past two months by doing 16:8 but I have plateaued recently so I need to make more changes. I think I will download MFP today a s also pledge to ditch my crisp habit!

DustingMyselfOff · 01/08/2020 12:34

@MovingOnUp I have joint problems too which is why my Dr is involved. Rheumatology cancelled along awaited appointment in May due to covid, which us understandable, but I was struggling - crawling up stairs as I couldn't walk up them.

My weight loss is fluctuating between 14-17lbs and it's made a massive difference. I can now walk like a human being to get upstairs. Have managed to reduced my naproxen to just one a day too.

I have been put on a waiting list for physio again and podiatry. Both waiting lists are long but got no alternative at the moment. Rheumatology cant reschedule my appt at the current time. It would be great though if, when the appointments come, I dont get another lecture about my weight distracting from the real problem. Yes my weight doesnt help but I had problems way before I got fat. I have a problem that I will suffer with all my life - that wont change, I just need help to learn how to deal with it. Plus I struggle to lose weight as I cant exercise, exercise triggers injury. I cant win Blush

MovinOnUp · 01/08/2020 17:46

@Failingbettereverytime Welcome along :)
@DustingMyselfOff Do you mind if I PM you a book recommendation? Possibly your condition is different from mine but it may well help.

My bloody scales are broken. So I haven't idea if my starting weight was right 😠

NemoRocksMyWorld · 01/08/2020 19:40

@Sootikinstew that is extremely annoying! Hopefully your starting weight will be lower!

Despite not getting home until midday, and drinking a litre of water and a can of Pepsi max on the drive home, I still couldnt resist the scales. They showed a 2lb gain. I am hoping this is just all the fluid sloshing about and will weigh at proper time tomorrow morning!

I had a really nice lunch, I bought this thin air dried beef from sainsburys called bresaola. I had it with a pack of rocket, 20g of shaved pecorino and a tablespoon of capers... It was really delicious and was 209 cals! I then finished it off with a chocolate pudding which was 100 cals but worth it! How's everyone doing eating wise? .... Weekends are always tricky aren't they? I have some red lentil dhal for tea which I batch cooked earlier in the week but we are going to start watching umbrella academy tonight and the snacks will be calling me!

Shesgotbeef · 01/08/2020 19:54

Can I join in please?

I’m in a similar boat and have a family wedding (hopefully) coming up that I simply don’t want to be fat for. I also don’t want my health to deteriorate.

I’m also not eating before 12/after 8, only drinking water or tea, sticking to under 1200 cals and all of those from lower carb options so I stay fullish and hopefully resist opening the damn fridge!

13st 2 this morning, I’ve already lost 6lbs and my healthy weight is around 10st. Eek!

I’ve started c25k and will be walking 5K a day at least if not running it.
