@pourmeanotherglass - I’ve just finished day 3 of the 16:8, it’s made me realise that I’m guilty of eating late at night so it’s curbed the late night snacking! What’s your window? I haven’t read much around it, just picked up the approach on this thread!

@FatCatThinCat - You lost a 1lb! your hard work might show up next week. I can’t find the research but I’m sure sleep deprivation and stress don’t help. I’m a hopeless sleeper!

Life has got in the way these last days and I had no time to cook the meals in the food planning, but I have managed quite ok to stick to healthy wraps with low calories, minus one biscuit! Managed a walk in the park and weights yesterday, so hopefully I will burn those extra calories.
For small weight loses, I think we have to remember that this may happen and it is not a bad thing. It could be muscle forming, which it is much desirable! I am seriously thinking to get once of those balances that show % body fat!

Absolutely! And even if it's not muscle, small weight losses are much, much better (if you want to lose weight) than weight gains - especially over a consistent period of time.

Just 0.2lb a day over a year would equal a 73lbs loss so never feel bad about a small loss.

notevenamum1 · 05/08/2020 13:57

Hi all. I have had a girls weekend away so was scared to weigh myself but I put on what I lost last week which I think is fine.

Plan is to have a super good week and lose 2lbs Grin

Week 1: -4.5lbs
Week 2: -2lbs
Week 3: +1.5lbs

Total loss: - 5lbs

Motiv8meplease · 05/08/2020 15:54

@notevenamum1 - that’s a very healthy attitude, no point dwelling on it!

I was a bit disheartened this morning, I’m only on day 4 of calorie counting and 10,000 steps/day - scales say I’ve put 2lb on 🙄 Now I know common sense says it’s too soon to see a difference, but I am a tad disappointed.

Blackbear19 · 05/08/2020 16:57

I appear to have gained in the last few days too.
However I'm sure someone said to me in the past that it can take up to 3/4 days for your diet to be reflected on the scales.

I need to keep reminding myself about the lag in weight coming off. Its great on a Monday when you think you've eaten lots over the weekend and still lost, then it catches up a few days later.

notevenamum1 · 05/08/2020 17:15

I hope my weight gain has not yet to catch up on me Grin keep going ladies, it’s very early days plus it could be anything from water retention that’s causing you to gain weight. I’m confident your bodies will flush it out.

Sforsh49 · 05/08/2020 17:42

Ah @Motiv8meplease don't be disheartened, I weighed Sunday, had gained 2lb by Tesday and then lost 2.5 today. Likely to be water I reckon it'll come off!

MushMonster · 05/08/2020 18:47

Is anyone going to watch loose a stone with Mosley?
I am going to, just to see if there is any trick I may add to my repertoir!

MushMonster · 05/08/2020 18:54

I am looking to it in this way: yes I want to loose the weight but more importantly I want to GAIN a healthy life style that helps me to be able to enjoy my family and life in the long term. So if the scales do not go down, well ... at least I know we are making healthy choices, and that is what matters more to us.

notevenamum1 · 05/08/2020 19:31

@MushMonster that’s a great way to look at it!! I also think even if I am not losing weight then not gaining it is also a victory.

I plan on watching the show tonight too but if he just says eat only 800 cals of carb free food per day then I’m not going to be happy.

MushMonster · 05/08/2020 21:36

I did take some notes. So citrus and pineapple, yes that I love! I will chuck some lemons and pineapple on my all fruit smoothies. Looking forward to those. And I will squeeze lemon on my watee (replacing the bought lemonade that I cannot drink). Light breads, like rye. I have to find some. Lots of yummy salads, with some fish (I do not eat meat, but yes any other thing going!).
They all lost, even the sandwich diet. Now, that proves that there is light breads in real life! I have to find them!

morningtoncrescent62 · 05/08/2020 23:43

Oh, I meant to watch that but I completely forgot. Must try to find it on catch-up.

Countarthursgroupie · 06/08/2020 04:20

@housemdwaswrong 1lb as well! I'm happy, a loss is a loss.

Grimmauldface · 06/08/2020 08:16

I've had a bad start to the week and am struggling to put things into perspective and get back on track.
It's definitely a vicious circle; I feel upset so I eat unhealthily and sleep badly which means I haven't got the energy to exercise and then everything spirals very quickly back into eating small mountains of crap which upsets me and makes me feel like I'm a failure etc etc.
Urgh - how do I get out of this?! I'm really in awe of those who can just chalk it up and move on.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 06/08/2020 10:49

Funny sign of weight loss today... My engagement ring fits.

EsmeShelby · 06/08/2020 12:41

No loss this week, not a surprise as I had a birthday party to attend this week.

FatCatThinCat · 06/08/2020 13:13

I get the feeling that some people are weighing themselves more than once a week. I do this and it's not good for ones mental health at all. I attended an eating disorders clinic for 2 years and they told me that anything more than once a week is a problem, but I can't stop myself. I weigh myself every morning, which is an improvement on the every time I go in the bathroom I used to do. For me this is a bigger battle than the food itself. So I'm going to try even harder to not do it tomorrow and wait until official weigh in day on Sunday.

I might have to get DH to hide the scales and not let me have them.

morningtoncrescent62 · 06/08/2020 14:34

@FatCatThinCat I recognise myself in your post. When I've dieted in the past I've become obsessed. Weighing myself every day, several times a day, has been part of getting to the point where I think about food, eating and weight almost constantly, until I can no longer sustain it and my eating gets out of control again.

I'm trying very hard to do things differently this time round. Only weighing myself once a month, on the final day of the month, and then setting a realistic target for the following month. I'm not sure in my case that it's a bigger battle than the food itself, but it's definitely all part of the same problem with food addiction and obsession. So far, this time round, I'm doing much better with eating less and more healthily, and not allowing myself to get so hungry that food becomes the centre of my life and thoughts.

Blackbear19 · 06/08/2020 14:43

I definitely weight myself daily (sometimes more than daily) however with the new scales I don't want clothing getting reflected on the graph so sticking to daily.

I guess part of it comes from the instant requirement to see a loss. But I've always been cynical about diet clubs that push people only to weight themselves weekly on their scales.

FatCatThinCat · 06/08/2020 15:28

@morningtoncrescent62 I'm quite lucky in that my diagnosis and treatment have completely changed my appetite. I feel a bit of a fraud here as I'm not battling with food now, although a life time of trying has left me very, very overweight. I have a lot to lose, more than most I expect, so my battle is patience. I've spent 30 years extremely overweight and now the cause has been fixed I want to wake up thin but at 1lb a week it'll take me three and half years to reach a healthy weight. Shock

fibeee · 06/08/2020 18:01

Can I join please ladies. I’m fed up and have had enough. So uncomfortable in my 4 month postpartum body and the heaviest I have ever been not pregnant. I don’t want to spend another day feeling like this.

morningtoncrescent62 · 06/08/2020 19:07

@Grimmauldface sorry, I missed your post before. I'm probably the last person to advise, what with my 50 years of yo-yo dieting and all, but your description of your vicious circle is very familiar to me, so I didn't want to just ignore it.

Can you try to have just one positive day? Try not to focus on all the days stretching out in front of you, but just today (or tomorrow, if today's already screwed up). If you can manage just one day that's a binge-fest-worth of calories not consumed which is a win, whether or not you keep it up. And it might just help you feel better about yourself and clamber back on that wagon. Good luck. This journey is a very hard one.
