@Blackbear19
My new hoover is brilliant and we shared it nicely Smile
It's quite heavy but we are amazed at the amount of dust and pet hair it's getting off our stairs. I can't remember ever having one with a stronger suck iykwim Blush
(Hope it lasts, unlike the rubbish shark it's replacing.)
Congrats on the 4lbs! 💪

YeetYeet · 02/08/2020 13:25

Fatcat it's so tough when you don't get the results you are hoping for. But remember that you are still doing the right things and heading in the right direction. Everyone has a few disappointing weeks, it's inevitable, just makes it more likely you will lose next week so don't give up 💪

Sometimes it's good to steer your goal away from the weight loss itself (which can fluctuate for mysterious reasons and throw you off track) to sticking to your plan. Decide how you want to eat / be active etc today and if you achieve it that's a win. Let the weight take care of itself.
(Easier said than done I know..)

lesleyw1953 · 02/08/2020 13:26

Pleased to have lost 2 lb since last Sunday - trying not to think about how long this is going to take! So far ma sticking to 1200 calorie or less a day, the 10,000 steps business and the YMCA Y plan toning programme. Well done to everyone hanging in there! Onward and downwards ...

TheNewLook · 02/08/2020 13:38

Legs look good to me Sansa!

Well done to all the losers! I’ve been at this for 6.5 weeks now (I weigh on a Weds) and have lost 12.5lb.

I wish I’d taken a before photo. I suppose when I started this I thought it’d be like all the other times when I lose 5lbs, feel very motivated for a week then celebrate with cake and throw the towel in! I’m still not sure how I’ve managed to find the discipline to keep going actually - I’ve really surprised myself. Never lasted this long before, especially as the loss is quite slow now, 1 or 2lb max per week. Now that I can really see and feel the difference, the finish line doesn’t seem so far away and I want to do this for myself. Feeling rubbish and disappointed in yourself is the worst feeling. I want to feel proud.

Countarthursgroupie · 02/08/2020 15:55

@housemdwaswrong thank you, I don't think that you and I can do the extreme exercise that others are talking about but a little extra walking and a more sensible diet and we'll get there 💐

Grimmauldface · 02/08/2020 17:02

Hi everyone and congratulations to all those who have lost weight Star

I weighed in this morning at just under 12st 5lb so that's 4lb off in my first week and I'm very happy with that.

Spent the day out with the kids so have clocked up >10k steps on the fit bit but thinking I might do my next c25k run this evening as well. I did week 2 run 1 yesterday and really surprised myself by actually enjoying it! Grin

TheHobbitMum · 02/08/2020 17:05

Can I join ladies? I've been shielding for months so have piled on the pounds so much I'm heavier than ever before Sad
I'll weigh in and update in the morning but I really need to do something about this now

YeetYeet · 02/08/2020 18:20

Welcome Hobbit 👋

You can do it

I weigh on Mondays too, hoping to stay the same this week but might have put on a pound or two as it was DD's birthday on Friday. Straight back on track yesterday and today though so I'm pleased with that 💪

Have got a 2 week goal now to reach 190.2 as that will be 2 stone down.

Sforsh49 · 02/08/2020 18:23

Hi @TheHobbitMum welcome!! It's a lovely thread we all seem really supportive of each other, with lots of different ways of loosing for everyone.

I'm calorie counting, my story is 20 years ago I weighed over 16 stone and joined Slimming World when I split my trousers whilst at Disneyland Paris with my friends. Lost 2.5 stone and then moved back home up North after living near London and joined WW and lost another 2.5 stone. Over the years I've had a stone that goes on and comes off, and it's more than on at the moment. I'm calorie counting as that fits my lifestyle better now, and trying to eat more veggie meals than meat based, but both SW and WW still work for me.

I'm using the Nutra Check App, which although you only get 7 days free trial I really like it so am going to pay for it. Have used the free My Fitness Pal App and that's great too!

I'm also doing 16:8 but not rigidly, probably 6 days out of 7.

Main thing is that if you have a bad day just mark it down to experience and get back on it. We all have days where you NEED that bag of Monster Munch, giant bar of Dairy Milk or chippy tea!! Years of managing to keep 80% of my initial loss off have taught me that!

Good luck!! We're all here to support each other 😊

WobbleWhenIRun · 02/08/2020 19:46

@TheHobbitMum welcome! Here we are to cheer you on...

@SansaClegane smashing pair of pins, you have there!

@MushMonster no tingling at all on a bodyfat set of scales, they are just like 'normal' ones except that also give the bf%

Well done everyone who has lost weight or done something else to make themselves healthier. A 6 mile hike with the dog this morning has meant I've sat on my arse without guilt, all afternoon Grin

SansaClegane · 02/08/2020 21:02

@WobbleWhenIRun and @TheNewLook, thank you for your kind comments. I've always struggled with having legs like a rugby forward and slim legs is what I admire the most in others, even though I know it's unachievable to me.
@LimeJ are you still with us? How are you getting on?

Well done to everyone on this thread - to those who have lost, to those who have made changes, and also to those who have made the decision to change! That's the first step.

TheBuriedGiant · 02/08/2020 22:32

Evening all, just catching up on the thread. Well done to everyone who has lost and welcome to all the newcomers!
I have lost 3lbs this week which I’m made up with. That takes me to 19lbs lost so far. Really pleased as had Iost about 20lbs and then had a bad month, feeling really low and put a few lbs back on but have managed to get back on it and start losing again. I completed all 3 runs in the first week of c25k this week and going for the next run tomorrow morning as didn’t have time today Smile

FatCatThinCat · 03/08/2020 10:43

This thread has inspired me to take some before pictures, just for me. I think I have some body dismorphia going on I find it very difficult to 'see' how I really look. I lost a lot of weight when I was pregnant, around 4 stone, but I can't see the difference the difference. Maybe a side by side photo will help, provided I do actually lose some more this time.

MintyCedric · 03/08/2020 10:45

Morning all!

Last week was crazy with poorly Olds so not as successful as I'd hoped and didn't manage to start my walking challenge on Saturday as planned (we had to have a paramedics and palliative care team out to dad on Friday so stayed on the sofa at mums and was exhausted).

However, in spite of many hiccups I have managed to lose 2lb and did a 2.36 mile walk this morning.

Fingers crossed for a better week.

Good luck everyone!

Blackbear19 · 03/08/2020 10:49

When I look in mirrors I don't always see the fat, it's when I see photos, normal everyday running around the garden photos. My eldest is incredibly slender, which makes me look even bigger!

Rldx2 · 03/08/2020 14:02

Sorry I haven't posted much, I dip in and out for a quick read to keep me on track! Well done to everyone for their losses! I managed to lose 5lb last week which I'm very happy with! I really enjoy this thread definitely helps with the motivation 😬

housemdwaswrong · 03/08/2020 14:30

@fatcatthincat I'm joining you in the 1lb club this week. :/ Like you say, it's a loss, but still...

@Rldx2 That's fab. Well done!

@MintyCedric That's great, especially given everything else going on. Fingers crossed for an easier week for you.

@Countarthursgroupie Indeed - as testified by my 1lb weight loss this week ;) It's a loss though. How are you getting on?

@TheHobbitMum I've been shielding too - tough going. I officially finish shielding August 16th, but we shall see what's going on with the cases as to what I do. It's been tough weight-wise shielding. Really tough. You'll do it though, we're all in it together. xx

YeetYeet · 03/08/2020 16:51

I gained this week 😱

BUT it was only +0.4lbs and the first gain since I started 10 weeks ago. And it was DD's birthday so this week was always going to be about maintaining. I'm ok with it and got straight back into it after Friday.

Aim for this week is -2lbs which puts me on track to reach 2 stone total loss the week after.

Onwards and (back) downwards 💪

housemdwaswrong · 03/08/2020 16:55

Oooh. Annoying. But like you say, not a huge amount, and considering the birthday it's really negligible. Onwards indeed. Glad you're managing to get back to it - that's the trickiest bit, for me at least. :)

morningtoncrescent62 · 03/08/2020 18:19

@FatCatThinCat please don't be gutted about losing 'only' 1lb. Slow but steady is definitely the way to go, and you'll know that a lot of the early loss will have been water, especially if you cut your carbs drastically. If you have a lot to lose it's really much better for your health for it to come off slowly but sustainably. I'm convinced that the reason I've had 50 years of yo-yo dieting is that I've got too impatient when I've been dieting and cut too much out, and not been able to sustain healthier eating in the long-term. 1lb a week will get you there.

Damn that 'eat out to help out' scheme. More temptation to resist!

pourmeanotherglass · 03/08/2020 22:19

I've made it through a week of 16:8, and not found it too hard. Probably too early to expect actual weight loss, as my scales are not accurate enough to detect a difference of a pound or 2. Hope everyone else is doing OK.

TheHobbitMum · 03/08/2020 22:35

Thank you for all the welcomes Grin I managed to weigh in at 18.5st ShockShock Oh well, no point worrying about that and I'll just get on and start shifting it. I lost 5st previously on slimming World so I'm going to use the SW recipes and calorie count although working in a supermarket is a killer for all the yummy goodies on offer but I must be strong and resist Grin

For those who are fasting how do you find it? I don't eat during the day when working so I think I could manage it easily enough, like today I haven't eaten since 6pm last night and I'll have beans on toast now I've finished work. Can you drink sugar free cola on fasting, I drink a fair amount of that in the day which I think could be a no-no?

morningtoncrescent62 · 04/08/2020 00:05

@TheHobbitMum that sounds very difficult, being surrounded by tempting stuff all day.

I've heard that sugar-free drinks aren't great for you at any time, including when you're losing weight, but I don't remember any details. I hope someone will be along to explain because I find it very difficult not to have them. I'm not fasting, but I'm trying to eat as healthily as I can so that I can establish new habits that will last.

TheHobbitMum · 04/08/2020 00:12

It can be so hard working around all the bad foods, especially when new items come into store and everyone is talking about trying them 😂.
I really should give up the coke zero but I enjoy it so much Sad I have to start making better habits too, its a hard habit to break for sure!

housemdwaswrong · 04/08/2020 00:27

Maybe not cold turkey though? It's a lot to change in one go. Maybe water replacing every other can or similar? Perhaps more sustainable to gradually reduce it.

I'm slowing converting to cold herbal tea...just like squash but more interesting flavours, and not as intense. I'm awful for not drinking water, so hoping this will help.

If you've lost 5 stone previously, you know you have the will power so that's a plus. :)
