For soups I boil up whatever I fancy (broccoli and cauliflower today) - and I often use frozen veg for this - with an onion and some stock (I use Marigold vegetable boullion) for a while and then blitz in the blender. Season to taste. Yum! Butternut squash soup can be very nice, I like cauli because it's creamy. Good way of getting some of your five a day as well!

spottyshoes · 01/10/2007 14:10

Wow there's loads of us now! Well done everyone for avoiding the biscuits/cake/jaffa cakes . I make spicy parsnip soup - same principle as ITS's soup but with parsnip, corriander and cumin - 'lish!
I made some low fat, no sugar banana bread earlier for Step son's lunch box this week. I think it could count a a portion of fruit as I packed it with raisins and apricots too. It was that or double choc cookies so I think I made the right choice as I'll no doubt have a wee slice at some point.
I'm not doing too badly so far as the thought of having to write it all down on here later keeps me away from the naughties!
Keep up the good work peeps

katybump · 01/10/2007 14:12

Hi DislexicIcecream & welcome to the fit club It's my wedding anniv on 20th Nov - good time of year to get married!

niceglasses · 01/10/2007 14:52

I'm joining you lot if thats okay. Have tried a few things but not a lot of motivation.....however, I will have to write off today as

woke up with hangover from hell on sofa!!! Didn't even get to bed.

Then have eaten all day to alleviate hangover, including McDonalds, shed loads of toast, chocolates.

So, am starting now by having a healthy tea and no wine.......I'd love to loose a stone in 6 weeks. Stone and half by Christmas would be great.

dislexicicecream · 01/10/2007 14:53

AnAngelWithin · 01/10/2007 16:04

hi all. i was very naughty and had a grilled bacon sandwich for lunch then a tiny pack of chocolate buttons I was so angry with myself, but to be fair, we haven't really got much else in at the moment til we go shopping. I thought it was still better than a huge piece of birthday cake and a fried egg and sausage butty which was the alternative!! Anyway, after that I went out for a brisk walk about 1.30 with dd2 in the pushchair and the dog in tow. Got home about 2.20, left dd asleep in the pushchair, put the dog in her bed in the kitchen with a fresh bowl of water and legged it back out the door up the town and had a wander round before going to get the kids from school. Just got back home now. Been walking non stop for 2 and a half hours. Just sat here while the kids do their homework, making sure they do it!! I wish I hadn't sat down though!! lol. Have put tea on for the kids. Me and DH will eat later when DH gets home from work. We are having grilled chicken breasts (skin removed!!) steamed veg (new potatoes, brocolli, carrots and peas) and gravy.

katybump · 01/10/2007 16:10

well done countessdracula

at least the bacon was grilled anangelwithin and you have done all that walking so well done to you too

laloupgarou · 01/10/2007 16:16

AnAngelwithin, don't worry I just did the same thing. MIL was here for dinner yesterday and left the dcs a bag of sweets, so I have just helped them polish off a bag of chocolate raisins! Just couldn't resist, they're my favourite sweet.

I'm heading out to do shopping this evening once I get dd/ds1 out to Brownies/Beavers. No healthy snack-y type things left in the house as the fruit bowl and yoghurt supply need replenished after the weekend. Think it'll be pasta tonight for dinner.

(...it's laloop btw, have changed for hallowe'en already.)

katybump · 01/10/2007 16:18

raisins = fruit lol x
