mylittlefreya- please please please can I have your recipe for chicken soup. Am making roast chicken and am always unsure what to do with the carcass- would love to make soup!

spottyshoes · 14/10/2007 15:43

Welcome OMGhelp, Congratulations on the weight you have already lost. you sound very similar to my Aunt - I always liken her to dawn french, big jolly fun person on the outside, but at home she is very very depressed about the weight. (not that i'm saying Ms French is depressed before she sues me) Well done you for taking control.

I'm aware that bf usually helps to lose weight, but not in all cases. Most people I know held onto a bit of weight and then lost it as soon as they stopped. I dont need to eat all the time and manage quite well on 3 meals a day plus a couple of snacks occassionally but i'm conscious that I cant cut down completely as I need to provide for babyshoes which has to be my main priority. If I cant shift this stone I may be a bit p!ssed but its not the end of the world

So as an ex-chef you could give us lots of yummy healthy recipes ?????

spottyshoes · 14/10/2007 15:43

Oooh yes - i'm doing chicken too!

OMGhelp · 14/10/2007 16:04

I actually have tons of Slimming World recipies, counters, and meal idea's on my pc in e-mailable format if anybody want them. How do i go about spreading the word?

Leftover chicken pieces can be made into chicken burgers by adding heavily seasoned very, very thick white sauce to the chicken then forming into patties and freezing. Cook from frozen.

A really big pan of veggie soup (no extra fat), if kept in the fridge will be a 3 day tummy filler for no extra 'sins' or 'points'.

tangarine · 14/10/2007 16:52

Hello OMGHelp and welcome!

I've hardly eaten a thing today as ds2 has an upset tummy, and dh is too hungover from watching the rugby last night to eat - so the chicken I cooked for lunch time is becoming dinner .

markstretch which scales do you recommend - mine have just broken. ds1 has Type 1 diabetes and I need to weigh all his food. The old ones were John Lewis own brand.

spottyshoes · 14/10/2007 19:18

Brekkie: Museli & s/s milk
11'ses None
Lunch: l/f cheese salad wrap
PM T: None
Dinner: Roast Chicken breast, 2 small roast pot, small ball of stuffing, parsnip, brussels, brocolli, carrot, gravy
Pud: Small slice of choc cake

Stealing mylittle freya's idea and am off to make some chicken soup with the carcass in a mo.

spottyshoes · 14/10/2007 19:19

I'm going to a cantonese restaurant on Tuesday night - does anyone have any tips on what would be the healthiest thing to order?

tangarine · 14/10/2007 20:42

SS,

Enjoy your meal out. I guess plain rice rather than special fried, chicken or prawn rather than pork and stir fry rather than sweet and sour or noodles? What about a clear soup to start with to fill you up? Lots of green tea rather than booze.
And only one fortune cookie at the end!

tangarine · 14/10/2007 20:44

...and the fortune cookie will say "ss is losing weight even if her scales don't say so because she is being so good"

spottyshoes · 14/10/2007 20:47

I like the fortune cookies at tangerine's restaurant!

pollywollydooooooooodle · 14/10/2007 21:06

hello OMG, sounds like you're in it for the long haul... any interesting veggie soup recipes would be welcome!

At 8am I will be making breakfast and we alway have a little buttock jiggle round the kitchen (to the wizard of oz cd )

spottyshoes · 14/10/2007 21:18

Your menu's dont sound too bad at all PWD considering you've been away! I'd say well done

pollywollydooooooooodle · 14/10/2007 21:46

thank you spottyshoes...i need to add another cappuccino and 2 biscuits to today...i'll have to go to bed soon or the cupboards will start calling to me!

Which bit of wizard of oz?

MrsSeanSlater · 14/10/2007 22:52

Well I think I've lost 5lbs but I've weighed myself on different scales so the results are not reliable imo. I hardly ate anything yesterday (one meal and to packets of crisps ) but have slipped a few times today. Will weigh in the morning. How far in are we? Two weeks?

susiecutie · 14/10/2007 23:09

hello all

Just said good bye to Dh until friday... but then we have 2 weks together, and he has a couple of interviews for jobs down here yippeeeeee

So, eating wise? not been too bad actually. cant remember it all, but i know it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. we didnt have a takewaway either in the end.

tomorrow, i am REALLY back on it. properly. he went shopping for me and dd and got loads of fruit and veg in. I will happily snack on fruit. He ate most of the naughty stuff i had in the house.

we had a lovely weekend, except for a bit of an arguement over nappies... which is thankfully resolved

SO i will weigh first thing on tuesday.. and keep my fingers crossed!

mainly i will up the fruit and water intake as this has always stood e in good stead

tommorrow then :

breakie:
porridge, banana and cranberries
lunch:
poached egg on wholemeal toast
dinner:
roasted veg and roasted butternut squash with a 'marinade' of crushed chilli, corriander seeds, garlic and extra virgin olive oil all mixed up and drizzled over... with a dip of v low fat fromage frais with mint sauce mixed in...

hmmmm tasty stuff!

welcome OMG... good luck on your continuing weight loss.

good luck all

FrightOwl · 14/10/2007 23:26

Can i join please?

Im 5ft 4, just under 11 stone and i want to be thinner in time for our christmas party. i very rarely buy myself anything i dont actually need when it comes to clothes. so if i do it, im treating myself to a new party frock.

recent shocked comments from friends i havent seen for a while have given me a kick in the right direction..they remember how i looked when i was 7 1/2 stone! bah.

am starting tomorrow. lunch is packed and at the ready.

spottyshoes · 15/10/2007 08:55

ding dong/we welcome you to munchkin land (well he IS a munchkin!), we're off to see the wizard, actually pretty much all of it Some mornings the scarecrow song 'if I only had a brain' is quite apt!!!!

Hi fright owl - welcome waves

spottyshoes · 15/10/2007 08:56

Well done on the 5lbs Mrs SS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

laloupgarou · 15/10/2007 09:04

Morning all

Welcome to OMG and FrightOwl.

Well, I should be hanging my head in shame. What a weekend for eating/drinking...not very conducive to weight loss at all. Let's just say it involved Indian takeaway, birthday party food and a roast dinner out aa well as many glasses of red wine, oopsy. Have weighed myself this morning and haven't lost anything this week. Greedy alter-ego now banished to cupboard and back to the healthy-eating, exercising lalou.

Spotty, I bf all 3 of my dcs and didn't lose much weight while feeding them, in fact probably put on a few lbs during that time. I think it's probably a myth that every woman will drop loads of weight when b'feeding although some do of course (couple of my friends' post-baby weight disappeared in no time). When I stopped bf the weight just fell off in the space of a few weeks, maybe you might be the same. If so, then maybe could view healthy eating regime as maintaining a good weight knowing that excess lbs will be shed eventually.

katybumpinthenight · 15/10/2007 09:30

morning ladies, sosorry i haven't ben around.sky switched off my internet on friday for the housemove so i've come to the library! haven't got alot of time so can't read your posts sorry.think thin everyone ,i'm missing you loads but will hopefully be back on line on thursday xxxxx

pinkrose · 15/10/2007 09:49

pollywollydooooooooodle · 15/10/2007 09:54

well have lost another 1lb...

not sure that i deserve it but i'll never look a gift loss of lard in the mouth!

It should be a routine kind of a week chez polly so might even manage 2lb this week....

I'm with susiec .....more fruit and water again! Glad you had a good weekend susie

well done mrs SS!!!!!

ps spottyshoes i also have a whole lot of ass to shake but i can't seem to get a renault advert level of rippling going on..more like a wobbling plate of jelly!
Might try "I'm off to see the wizard (to see if he'll shift all my lard...")instead

dislexicicecream · 15/10/2007 10:08

mylittlefreya · 15/10/2007 12:28

I have walked, not eaten much, and leapt around in the garden with dd today. This week is going to be better.

I bought some organic buckwheat spaghetti today - I am not sure why but it sounds like it should make the weight fall off.

Glad to hear of the fun weekends had by many!
