Thanks for the encouragement on the exercise front, have just done the pump section from Davina's 3x30 DVD. Off for a quick shower, then lunch.

laloupgarou · 03/10/2007 11:57

Hi! Back again, had meant to add this as a bit of encouragement to us all...I had actually started to watch what I was eating last week, drink more water, less wine etc. Weighed myself last night and I had lost 2lbs. And that was with a meal out (incl drinks) at the the weekend and a roast dinner on Sunday. So making small consistent changes whilst keeping the occasional treat really does work!

katybumpinthenight · 03/10/2007 12:48

nice start laloupgarou with the 2 pound
it can be done !!!!

Today I have:
Spent an hour in the gym doing muscle toning exercise
Eaten a small bunch of grapes
A milky coffee
A bowl of mushroom soup and three chipolatas
A slice of toast

I will avoid cakes and biscuits like the plague and will try my best to have a healthy dinner and no wine.

well done mrsseanslater keep it up and we will be slim ,oh yes

and you know where we are if you need us xx

imagineafullnightsleep · 03/10/2007 14:49

Thank you for letting me join. I'm a couple of days behind you all, so, am playing catch up a litte. Weighed myself yesterday and things were even worse than I thought - so definitely have to stick to this. I'e done it before, I can do it again ! Got a day at home today, so got up and went to Sainsbury's to get healthy food. Dug out the old WW stuff and shopped properly for the first time in about 2 years ! Managed to walk through all of the freshly baked bread (hardest part of the day definately!). So far have had....
Breakfast - Special K & black coffee
Snack - small apple, small banana
Lunch - bowl of homemade carrot & cariander soup, small pack of melba toasts
Tea is going to be, steak (decided to have a little bit of a treat - and it's not that bad for you) with roasted mushrooms and salad. Feel virtually godly !!!!
Re. the sit ups - back in the days when I wasn't so damn overwieght and unfit,I used to spend quite alot of time at the gym and running, and a trainer gave me a great alernative to sit-ups.
You need to lie on the floor (face down), then put yourself in the press-up position, but on your elbows - not your hands. Put your feet together. Stay there for 10 seconds - repeat as necessary. This tones the top and bottom parts of your stomach (whereas traditional sit ups only do the top part - you need crunches for the bottom part). Seriously, I thought this looked really easy -but it's not! And it really works. Still - it's much easier than sit-ups because it's only one position for a small amount of time. Also much better on your joints . Go on....try it !

katybumpinthenight · 03/10/2007 14:58

imagineafullnightsleep thanks for the belly tip ,will try it after school run

if i missed anyone out or you are missing in action please come and join us . it's working so don't be shy xxx

MarkStretch · 03/10/2007 15:38

Only an hour til I go to the pub to meet my colleagues....would a vodka lime and soda be ok?

laloupgarou · 03/10/2007 15:43

Hi imagineafullnightsleep, welcome.

That exercise you described really is excellent for strengthening abs. Here's link for anyone who wants to give it a try.

laloupgarou · 03/10/2007 15:46

Markstretch, should be ok. If you can, stick to clear spirits (less carbs) and diet mixers. Keep away from WINE, it is the dieters' nemesis!

imagineafullnightsleep · 03/10/2007 15:49

Markstretch - Vodka, lime and soda is a good choice. Or any spirit with a 'diet' mixer.
Laloupgarou - good work on finding that link ! It's much easier if people can see it !

slimbyxmas · 03/10/2007 16:11

markstretch, watch out for the chippy/kebeb hijack on the way home
If i remember correctly it goes like this
oh i feel great, am a bit sozzled.....diet what diet???
or is it just me......correction was!!
have a good night out, am just jealous does the world not stop when i am doing the tea, bed bath dance??
