No way could I do 800 calories a day. I would die of misery. Or I’d eat my 800 Cals in one sitting. That’s like a quarter of a digestive biscuit right?

WreckTangled · 09/08/2020 10:52

I had this for dinner and it was less than 600 calories (there's a burger and cheese slice under the bacon). I don't stick to 800 but often come in around 1000. I think with hardly any carbs it's pretty easy. But also I don't eat breakfast so that saves calories.

Hi all.
Yesterday was so hot!
We went to the history museum and walked around hyde park. Did 24739 steps, so was knackered but lovely to spend time with my friend and our dcs.

Today it is just too hot to do anything!

Unescorted, how did you manage to go for a run in this heat?! I would die!

SingToTheSky · 09/08/2020 14:42

That looks lovely wreck! I really need to have some meals without the carb portion at all rather than just having (sometimes a lot) less.

I guess the 800 would be much harder for the bigger participants due to TDEE being higher.

I did a bit of time on the exercise bike earlier just to ease myself back in. Can’t believe how little I’ve done this week. Can I blame the heat?! 😳🥵

WreckTangled · 09/08/2020 20:34

Finished on 1100. Feel a bit sick think I ate too much at dinner.

Not2bObvious · 10/08/2020 00:42

Possibly had 1000+ for my dinner Blush Big pizza, totally enjoyed. Be ok if it wasn’t for the pesto chicken baguette at lunch & mini fry for breakfast. Quite frankly not even trying just enjoying my week away - best not mention the 🍷🍷🍷🍷 159.4 on Friday 165.8 this morning 🤦‍♀️

0.2 down. Pretty sure I sweated out more than that. Today is going to be carbs and over cals Grin BUT I know this and I have planned and allowed this so I'm not going to let it throw me off track forever. Tomorrow will be nice and healthy. Wednesday out for breakfast so will enjoy it and then eat well the rest of the day and Thursday. I think my problem is giving up if I have one day off when there's no need.

Unescorted · 10/08/2020 08:45

Curvy I am an early morning person - so I make myself go out first thing. To be honest I find going out in the rain the worst.... I don't like the feel of boil in a bag when I have my rain jacket on. I need to just embrace it and get wet until the weather gets colder.

This is where I need people's advice - up to date I have managed to keep my weight fairly even by doing a bit more exercise and eating little less. I fear this is not going to work given how much I have to lose. I have put on a grim tyre around my middle and the tops of my legs are like a cart horses. I need a more active intervention. My problem is I see all these different diets and methodologies and dire warnings about putting it all back on ….. What are my options? Ideally I would like to quickly get rid of the draught centaur look and then go back to my normal bit more exercise and eat a little less stop drinking my body weight in wine

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 10/08/2020 12:40

Unescorted, well I take my hat off to you! Even here in the morning it is still so hot!

I guess with losing weight it is always 'move more and eat less'.
I lost my initial stone just by starting the C25K, but you are already a runner so know all about that.
Maybe stop the wine? Or at least only drink it at weekends? Not saying that you drink all the time!
I try not to have crisps and snacks in the house, this is easier when the kids are at school! If it is in the house I will eat it!
Do you drink lots of water?
I'm trying to do more exercises at home, but have been ready rubbish at it lately!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 10/08/2020 12:47

*really rubbish!

SingToTheSky · 10/08/2020 18:21

+1.2lb this week. I knew I wouldn’t lose as much as last week but I’m surprised! I can think of some times I had too much carby stuff so I guess I can’t get away with as much as I thought 😬 mind you I also didn’t exercise much at all compared to the week before. So maybe that made a difference too.

Yoga tomorrow which I’m really looking forward to. I do like doing it at home but I find it more relaxing in a proper class. And yet another little piece of NORMAL!!! In fact probably better as the class sizes are smaller which should mean no worrying about getting in the way of others :o

SingToTheSky · 10/08/2020 18:25

I’m never really sure how much difference exercise makes. It’s such a controversial topic on MN, some say you can’t out train a bad diet etc. But then weight/resistance work and building up muscle is meant to help. I don’t want to lose too fast either unescorted I was reading about metabolism permanently dropping etc. But then building up muscle is meant to help there too. Confused

Unescorted · 10/08/2020 18:35

The exercise is the reason (other not wanting to buy more clothes) that I want to lose weight. I fell run and the extra weight slows me down up the hills and stresses my knees, his and ankles on the downs.

I have been quite good today - I put off breakfast until it counted as lunch. I have not snacked (unless a grate or carrot counts). I managed to go shopping and left the crisps and biscuits in the shop.

ememem84 · 10/08/2020 19:11

unescorted alcohol is my downfall. I know it’s not helping weight loss/sleep/general feeling good but i do love a nice g&t or a lovely crisp Sauvignon blanc or a malbec or a chardonnay. Or on v special occasions a crisp cold glass of champagne.

I drink then I get hungry which leads to crisps nuts etc. Which I then regret later.

I spoke to my Gp today about weight loss. I was, when I was 15 almost hospitalised because I was too skinny. I weighed around 6.5/7 stone. I’m tall - about 5’10 so it did me no favours. I now have a much healthier attitude towards food but on occasion am a classic binge eater - would happily eat an entire pack of biscuits in a day (never in one sitting) then feel bad because of the calories.

We combat this by not buying the lovely treats. So if I want something I have to go out to the shop. I’m also a bit lazy. So...

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/08/2020 19:19

Hey unescorted, fraid its calories in have to be less than calories out. Weight training helps build lean muscle which stops the Skeletor look and lean muscle is more efficient at calories burn. Yup alcohol is empty calories but you can plan it in and have low cal options.
Do you know your tdee to get your start point?
Also there are lots of hidden calories which are a bigger.

What did Dr say about weight loss em? Seems like you are being ok at the minute unless you are not telling us

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/08/2020 19:19

Btw I'm ignoring all my own advice and eating everything. #holiday

ememem84 · 10/08/2020 19:52

Dr said my bmi is technically on the overweight side. So she’s said to carry on why I’m doing. Slowly. Gently. Healthily. But not to go stupid. No crash diets. No super exercise. Eat a little less. Move a little more.

I haven’t had that issue with food since I was early 20’s. So around 15 years. When I get anxious or stressed I stop enjoying food. I eat because I have to not because I want to iyswim. I haven’t lied to anyone about eating for a very long time and that’s something I’m really happy about. Looking back I hate what I did to myself. (I used to tell Dm that I’d have breakfast at school, hold have an apple for lunch then “eat something later” or “I’d had a huge lunch” )

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/08/2020 21:22

You can't be that much in the overweight category though. Doing well though

ememem84 · 10/08/2020 21:27

No. I’m not.

Anyway. Slow and steady. I’m not obsessing over my weight how I used to. I’m just taking it easy. My clothes don’t fit as well as I’d like. My jeans are tight. I carry all of my weight around my tummy (and boobs - but I like them!) so that’s where the weight loss and toning up needs to come from.

Working on myself for myself.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/08/2020 07:28

Good plan. I also carry my weight on my tummy,

ememem84 · 11/08/2020 07:35

I mean I know it’s probably something to do with having two babies close together. But I do need to strengthen my core. Which will help.

WreckTangled · 11/08/2020 07:39

Up today but that's to be expected. I also carry my weight on my stomach, I think most females do, I have a relatively strong core but also some minor diastasis recti.

Unescorted · 11/08/2020 07:41

Life 1776 apparently

I too carry it around my belly and my thighs.

I think my dh is trying to sabotage my efforts.... some of you know my efforts to try and get everyone to eat the same thing. So yesterday when I was asking for dinner suggestions we had - burgers, chicken and chips, toad in the hole, pizza. All of which if I had suggested last week would have been met with indifference. My coping strategy is going to be back ending my eating and serving huge amounts of vegetables with everything.... he doesn't need to eat them. Last night was super thin homemade pizza (reduced amount of cheese) with a huge salad. MWahahahahahaha! I was not so good with the wine but kept it to 2 glasses.

ememem84 · 11/08/2020 07:46

3670 steps yesterday. Waaaaaay off my target. But not well. So resting.

Unescorted · 11/08/2020 07:54

Em are you still full of cold?
