Military Diet
58

Difford · 21/06/2020 20:16

I'm not normally a fan of quick fix diets but I've put on over a stone in lockdown and none of my clothes fit so really need a kick up the bum. My cousin did the 3 day military diet last week and lost half a stone so I'm going to give it a try starting tomorrow. Has anyone done it?
Cousin said it was tough but it has reset her appetite so she is eating less now at each meal. Sounds exactly what i need right now!
Will post here for accountability. Anyone want to join me?

I've done it before a few times. It is good and not too hard ...i cheat on the last meal as i cannot stomach plain tuna but i still loose a few lb. If i didnt cheat i would loose more. Try it...i wasnt too hungry.

I think I’ll give this a go. I might add some chopped cucumber to the tuna though.
I need to organise shopping, I’ve got a delivery on Wednesday, and start on Thursday.
Thanks for the link.

Watching with interest. It will be interesting to see what you weigh in 3 days time. I may give it a go if theres a significant loss.

I always get confused with the measures when it says cups though. I had to buy a set on American measuring spoons Grin

Hi caramac and galacti. I'm happy to be your guinea pig Smile
I've enjoyed my meals so far, it's quite a relief for me to have a strict plan to follow rather than a vague ambition to cut down/eat healthier. I'm not to hungry today but that might be due to the amount I scoffed yesterday Grin

My only real concern is the grapefruit. I’ve never liked them and not sure I can eat half of one but can’t think of a replacement.
Any ideas welcome Grin

If you look on the site theres replacements for food you cant eat. It says for grapefruit apricots or plums but it needs to be exactly the same calorie as the grapefruit.

Ignore that. That was the banana substitute.
What can I substitute for grapefruit on the Military Diet?
To get the same Military Diet benefits as a grapefruit, put 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drink it. NEVER substitute orange for grapefruit. Oranges will create the opposite effect intended for the Military Diet.

First day done and it's been okay so far. Any diet plan that involves a (teeny) portion of ice cream each day can't be too bad Smile

@caramac04 I would never normally choose to have a grapefruit but I actually quite liked it!

It's a shame I can't send you my leftover half a grapefruit that everyone else in my house is refusing to eat Grin

I woke up ravenous this morning! I held out to have a slightly later breakfast than normal and have just had lunch. I enjoyed both meals but they are MUCH smaller portions than i would normally have. Hopefully this will retrain my appetite back down to more normal levels as I'd got into the habit of scoffing huge amounts at each meal.
Half way through now! Wink

I did this diet a couple of years ago when I was desperate to lose weight before a holiday. I did work for me and I think I lost 5 pounds in a week, which I managed to keep off afterwards. I wouldn’t do it again though as by the end of the week I absolutely hated the foods I was eating! I recommend watching some videos on YouTube of people doing it. I found a couple of really funny you tubers and watched their videos each day of the diet.

Ha, just watched Mike Beacons day 3.
I'm glad I'm doing the veggie version, most of the menu looks much more appetizing! Although I'm not looking forward to half a cup of chick peas for my dinner.

Just finished 'dinner which was pretty uninspiring. I have to say, the cup of ice cream seemed like loads so maybe this diet is having the desired effect!
Surprisingly I've not been ravenous today (possibly because of the heat) but I have felt quite light-headed at times. Hoping for a loss tomorrow to make it all worthwhile.

Drumroll please . . .

I lost 8lbs! Grin

Hopefully I will be able to keep most of it off now I'm going back to 'sensible' eating. It's certainly given me a boost and I'd definitely do it again. I still have a couple of stone to lose but don't want to calorie count all the time, just going to concentrate on eating normal portions and not snacking for now.

Bloody hell thats amazing! I’ve been quietly following your thread and said I’d do it if you lost a decent amount which you have! I’m starting tomorrow. Well done!

Is it ok to make substitutions? I’m not a fan of tuna at all and I have an egg allergy
