New thread!

just logging in... now off to do some work!

WigWamBam · 24/09/2007 11:37

Don't work too hard, hey

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 24/09/2007 11:38

Oh well done you two

mmm smarties [scoff]

JackieNo · 24/09/2007 20:11

Well done WWB and Kewcumber.

TigerFeet - thought those smarties were for when we lose weight this week

DD's doing fine. Had one incident when she absent mindedly decided to have an apple, which started it bleeding a bit, but not for long. She's back at school and back to normal, to all intents and purposes.

TigerFeet - hope you can get a quick result for your DD's eye.

JackieNo · 24/09/2007 20:16

Oops, forgot - WWB, glad you've stopped bleeding, if only 'temporarily' (now there's a sentence I never thought I'd type...). Hope you can get the docs to do some swift investigations.

TigerFeet · 24/09/2007 20:38

You are so right about the smarties Jackie but I am not generally known for my restraint and besides, I'm not weighing atm so I think I'll just help myself

Our GP has referred dd to the opthalmologist (sp?) so we'll see how long that takes to come through - he didn't think he could detect any more than a slight misalignment but it is very intermittent - sometimes she looks perfectly normal and sometimes it's quite pronounced.

Glad your dd is on the mend Jackie

JackieNo · 24/09/2007 21:23

Just make sure you leave some smarties for me, eh.

So hopefully if it's quite a small misalignment, your DD wouldn't need too much doing to sort things out. Fingers crossed that's the case.

TigerFeet · 28/09/2007 09:48

Morning all

It would appear that I have eaten too many of those smarties... I got dressed for work yesterday in a pair of old faithful trousers and...

Will send virtual carrots next time, TF

I'll post the weights this morning, but first I'll have to clear up all the tumbleweed ... where is everyone?

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 28/09/2007 12:20

WWB, you are a love

WigWamBam · 28/09/2007 13:11

If there's anyone else who wants to own up to anything let me have their weights, I'm waiting to post them. There are only three ...

Nice butt WWB,

Sorry...I know I'm being quiet but we're a bit snowed under at the moment!

The lady who does all our company stuff is under going chemo and she's finally accepted that she really can't come into work (which is a good thing!) but that only leaves me and the office manager (who normally only does PAYE and admin) to cover all the bases! [worried emoticon]

WigWamBam · 28/09/2007 14:43

Sounds tough, LMS. Could you maybe get a temp in - just to cover the routine admin and leave you free to do the more pressing stuff?

OP posts:
littlemisssensible · 28/09/2007 14:59

Its a possibility but she's been with the family firm forever (dad sold her with the company once ) so we're paying full wages not just statutory sick pay because we think she deserves it, so finding the money for a temp is difficult!

My dad has come out of retirment (he never really went away!!!) and is doing some extra hours to help out, the worker in question is doing bits and pieces at home to stop her fretting about being useless and we do have an apprentice who is being as helpful as he can!

The workload isn't too much of a problem (well we're all busier but its copeable!), just that I'm a bit rusty on company stuff (tend to do all the sole traders/partnerships) so I'm petrified I'll get something wrong and cause big problems for the clients!

I know I'm worrying unecessarily as I can check with Tolleys or with my dad or call her for advice, or even phone our accountant for advice (though he charges!) but I hate not being absolutely sure about what I'm doing!!!!

JackieNo · 28/09/2007 16:21

Hi guys - sorry I forgot to email yesterday - I think I was trying to pretend I hadn't put on 1.5 lb. But it's no use pretending - I really have put on.

LMS - sorry to hear it's a tough time for you - hope your lady gets through the chemo OK, and you get through the time OK too.

OK - I've just been for a run in the rain as penance for putting on weight, and now I'm sitting here getting cold - off to the shower.

WigWamBam · 28/09/2007 16:21

Sounds very frustrating. It's nice that you've kept your lady on full pay but I can see how hard that would then make it to pay for someone else to do her work.

Well, in the absence of anyone else, here are the weights (such as they are this week):

Agalch: -1.5 (total 32)
LMS: stayed the same (total 5lb)
WWB: stayed the same (total 8lb)

So a Belgian bun for Agalch, some jelly tots for LMS and me, and a load of cheesy balls for everyone else!

I think we'll stick with this thread for this week, it's barely worth starting another one when we're only a dozen messages in on this one.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 28/09/2007 20:01

I weighed this morning WWB and have put on 2lb. I think its a sort of rebound from having done well last week (I'm far better losing 0.5-1lb a week any more seems to be a cue for pigging out) Actually I haven't been that bad but have weighed on three differnt scales in the last three weeks so I suspect the wild fluctuations may be somehting to do with that. I will try to stick to one scales which will mean weighing at my Tesco shop on a Friday morning if you can wait for me...

Kewcumber · 28/09/2007 20:03

do you ust do tax LMS or is it book-keeping? If book-keepig/accountancy then my consultancy rates are very reasonable if its tax then you're on your own as I'm probably rustier than you - I sat my last tax exam in 1988!

littlemisssensible · 28/09/2007 20:55

Hi All,

Makng a determined effort to log on in the evenings as although I lurk during the day I don't often get time to post

Thanx for the offer Kew but the book keeping bits I can handle, its the corp tax and dreaded Marginal Rate relief that gets me panicing everytime!!! I know what you mean about the larger losses by the way....it makes it easier to binge because 'I did so well last week one little biscuit/muffin/slice of cake/chocolate bar/all of those! won't hurt'. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just a pig who will use any excuse to give in to temptation! I know there is more to it than that because sometimes I binge even when I don't want to but I'm sure being greedy doesn't help!

I hope everyone is feeling a little better after all the bad news the week before last, I'm sorry I wasn't around to post my sympathies.

Well done agalch by the way, you go girl!

JackieNo · 29/09/2007 12:00

Kewcumber - I'm having another clear-out - do you by any chance use sleeping bags for your DS? I've got one summer weight one, that I'm not entirely sure of the size of, possibly 12-18 months (but I think DS was in it for longer), and 2 winter weight grobags, white with Clangers on, in age 18 months - 3yrs.

Kewcumber · 29/09/2007 13:05

I don't think the summer weight one will fit him Jackie but would love the winter ones, he only has one at the moment so a couple more would be great.

JackieNo · 29/09/2007 13:32

Great - I'll get them in the post next week (or, ahem, eventually, at the very least).

WigWamBam · 29/09/2007 17:52

Am going to take a break for a while.

Perhaps someone could hold the fort for me for a couple of weeks.
