pmsl Eddas! kids can be so funny can't they?
Are you all weighing yourselves just once a wek?... I'm afraid i'm becoming a bit obsessive, have weighed myself nearly every day! may have to ask dp to hide the scales!!

Eddas · 27/09/2007 20:47

i managed not to weigh myself til sinday last week BUT have been on them nearly everyday since dh needs to hide my scales too I think i'm too impatient, probably why my diets never last as i want instant loss, as in press a button, yipee, weight's gone Now if someone would just invent one that'd be great

OP posts:
eandh · 27/09/2007 20:49

dh got scales out on sunday put them somewhere monday and wont let me have them till sunday

Eddas · 27/09/2007 20:52

good on him eah, not sure i want to ask dh to do that for me, thing is i'll probably find them anyway!

oo dh's birthday tomorrow, we HAD to buy a cake, dd insisted, so I may well have a small piece, but it is a treat. Might not though, will see after dinner tomorrow!

Eddas · 28/09/2007 11:33

hiya, is everyone still with me?

Just cooking my soup for lunch before I pick up dd from preschool. Tomato today. Yesterday's was ok, lentil and veg but was not keen on chicken broth & veg

I actually feel like this is working. I feel much less bloated which is nice. I don't think my body really needs 3/4 packets of crisps and 10 choccie bars a day(slight exaggeration, but only slight) plus dinner of pizza/chips/burgers anything bad and that's what i like!

I'm looking forward to monday to see how much I weigh in at

I have fallen off the wagon big time I weighed myself and have put on 2lb and am eating a bounty bar I am just about to write a weeks shopping list though - anyone doing the GI diet? My mum gave me recipes for it but I like plain food, but don't know what I can and can't eat. I feel so fat

doublethelovedoublethekisses · 28/09/2007 12:07

Hey, I'm still with you!
Am doing ok today, all I've had is a couple of go ahead biscuits with my tea this morning- I meant to have breakfast but got carried away with housework so am gonna wait till lunch now.
Dp is also cutting down so have some support at home as well which is nice!
Sorry LadyOfWaffle not familiar with GI diet

eandh · 28/09/2007 14:13

LOW - fresh start don't worry about whats happened just think ahead

dtldtk - well done (all that housework burns up calories as well

Am at work today so had cornflakes for breakfast and sandwich for lunch, have resisited the chocolate/biscuit tin at work and when anyone makes tea etc I have asked for glass of water, however, dh did text saying are we having takeaway tonight or tomorrow but I may treat myself as I have been extra extra good.

Eddas hope you have had a peaceful morning and happy birthday to dh!!

Eddas · 28/09/2007 14:42

low, i 2nd what eah said, just start again. I've tried to diet about ten times since ds was born(5.5months ago) and this is the longest i've managed. Don't know anything about the GI diet i'm afraid. Have you tried starting a thread for it? i'm sure there's loads on mners who are on/have tried it, they'll probably have lots of useful advice. Please stick with us, even if you don't want to diet for a while, give yourself a few days/weeks break and you may come back to it with renewed enthusiasm/will power

eah think your allowed a little treat, i'm going to have some cake after our dinner tonight. Don't want dd thinking i'm not being party like

DTLDTK, my dh is also on a diet and it is very helpful. Also dh has much more willpower than me so i've asked him to keep me on the straight and narrow

My tomato soup was very nice, it was tesco diet one. Would recommend it, kinda tastes like either heinz or cambells, not sure which one

doublethelovedoublethekisses · 28/09/2007 15:37

Have had beans on wholemeal toast and a small bunch of grapes for lunch.
It is nice having the support... however he loses weight really quicky when he puts his mind to it and doesn't weigh all that much more than me!
must not (@ 5' 3") be heavier than (5' 11") dp

  • ever
  • under any circumstances
Eddas · 28/09/2007 20:30

i'm the same dtldtk, dh must NEVER be lighter than me, but i'm fairly lucky because he is a big built bloke

Well I had some cake a 1/4 of it, but it was very small so not actually that bad

Might have a vodka in a bit. Feel like a drink today, mind you i'm going to the pub tomorrow night with a group of friends and it'll be a bozzy one so maybe I shouldn't

OP posts:
eandh · 28/09/2007 20:42

well we had chinese but I was ery restrained and had about half what I normally have and made dh hide the prawm crackers or I would have eaten it all.

Actually I think after a week of 'proper' eating it all seemed a bit greasy. Going to have grilled steak and jacket potato and salad tomorrow night

Eddas · 28/09/2007 20:58

well done eah! haven't had a meal out/takeaway yet since i started, not sure how that'd work out?!

I didn't enjoy my cake as much as usual, felt really odd

OP posts:
doublethelovedoublethekisses · 29/09/2007 09:56

Hi All
Eddas, do you like Indian food?
If yo do and want a takeaway/meal out then chicken tikka with boiled rice is the best option... No yummy fattening sauces involved!
Had sweet/sour chicken with rice last night & 1/2 grapefruit with wholemeal toast for brekkie this morning, dinner might be a problem tonight though as i'm working till 9 today... might have to be chicken kebab on the way home cos i don't think i'll have the energy to cook when i get in!

Eddas · 29/09/2007 12:44

chicken kebab will be ok, just no sauce. I do like indian, and may well remember that tip, thanks

Well just had my lunch of mushroom soup, that was ok too so all going fairly well [hopeful emoticon] Gonna get myself a nice pint of water in a minute as i'm not drinking enough.

Talking of drinking enough all plans are still in place for mine and dh's night out with friends so will be having some vodka and diet cokes tonight, yay, I missed out last friday so this'll make up for it. Wasn't going to go when dh mentioned it as it's an oasis tribute band and although i don't mind them a whole evening of their songs might get on my nerves probably be too drunk to notice and there's quite a few girlies going so hoping they'll be up for a natter(one had a baby in July so sure we'll be chatting about that!)

Eddas · 29/09/2007 14:50

is anyone about? i need pursading(sp?) not to eat some of dh's birthday cake

OP posts:
eandh · 29/09/2007 18:26

Evening - had an okay day was at work 9-1 so only chance for quick bowl of cereal our area manager was in and bought my fav choc muffins from M&S but I resisted an gave mine to someone else.

Didnt get a chance to get any lunch as straight from work had to go food shopping with the dd's (dh at football ) then by the time we got home it was their teatime so am just waiting for the jacket potatos to cook and got some rump steak to griddle plus a huuuge green salad.

Have a great evening eddas and hope you didn't eat any of that cake

Eddas · 29/09/2007 18:35

I did eat it but not the packet of crisps that tempted me too so all in all not bad! and left most of the icing off the cake!

Well done eah, hopefully you'll see the reward from the scales, i have my fingers crossed that mine show a loss, will be mightily disappointed.

Just eating my dinner, fish and chips but home cooked and fish is in breadcrumbs not batter! then off to finish getting ready. Now what will I wear

eandh · 30/09/2007 17:57

charlee if you see this thanks for supporting me on the tv thread

Eddas · 01/10/2007 07:50

great. after being good all week(accept cake! and not so great diet yesterday but could've been worse) i didn't lose a thing

OP posts:
Sunshine78 · 01/10/2007 08:28

I'm not weighing in today as on top of going to the great orth run to support dh and eatting rubbish all weekend I have the worst pmt ever and am really boated so I think I know which way the scales will go!!! Having wath dh yesterday though and stood at the finish line for hoursI have decided I am not going to be a fat supporter next year I am going to be a super fit runner (pause for laughter)

doublethelovedoublethekisses · 01/10/2007 10:45

morning all-
Sorry to hear that Eddas, sometimes goes like that though. It's the biggest reason why my previous attempts to diet have failed, If i don't lose anything the first week i decide it's not working and give up... just stick with it and i'm sure next week will be better.
BTW (feel guilty now) i lost 3 lbs, although i don't really konw how as i was no way near as strict with myself

Eddas · 01/10/2007 10:54

well done dtldtk, brilliant!

Thanks for the support, was feeling very down not just the lack of weight loss but had a crap night with dcs so am tired. Which doesn't help. Spoke to dh and said I just want to eat crap all day, he said not to as it won't help, true!

But i had already eaten some crisps was going to have some jaffa cakes too but took a bite and realised i've bought dd the texco value ones coz i don't like them! so didn't really haev any. Nothing else bad in the house that I like so will try to stick on the diet! Might not weigh myself for a couple of weeks. As pinions said to me on our post natal thread it does demotivate when it shows no loss or a small gain. If i only weigh in every 2/3/4 weeks then it should be a loss[hopeful emoticon]

I will keep going, mmmmmmmmmmm soup[sarcastic emticion]

OP posts:
Sunshine78 · 01/10/2007 11:58

Keep going Eddas and avoid temptation (like I'm one to talk) It will be worth it in the end. I know weekly weigh ins can be abit hard especialy if gain or stay the same but personnaly if I dont I let little slips lead to big ones.

doublethelovedoublethekisses · 01/10/2007 13:07

I feel a bit like that this morning, also had a bad night with twins... spent 2 1/2 hours up with dd then they both decided it was time to get up at 5:30!
have managed to resist eating everything in sight so far- had 2 slices of wholemeal toast and a plum now trying to decide what to do for lunch!
