I'm starting CD on Tues. My main worry is how my body will adapt after being on a vlcd? Anyone due to start soon or have any experience of maintaining their weight loss on CD

Thanks for that, guess I will get some coke zero tomorrow!
I might as well replace the redbull with coke as well to make sure I'm getting it right.
Cheers

MatildasMummy · 19/09/2007 18:53

hattiejacques - have similarly ridiculously sized knockers particularly as bf for 1 year. my only worry is where they will end up now i've finished and if CD goes well. better start saving for the uplift now!
my CDC was telling me all about the citric acid thing but mentioned coke zero as ok. I've just drunk a cup of earl grey without milk or sugar and it wasn't that bad. will really miss strong builders tea (white and one) though.

hattiejacques · 19/09/2007 19:11

Me too! I miss my wine but not as much as I thought I would. I've been drinking the odd cup of coffee with sweetener in preference to black tea which I really don't like. Tbh after 4 litres of water I'm all fluided out!

MatildasMummy · 20/09/2007 08:57

think i will have to persevere with the water. get a bottle and keep it with me or just have a drink at regular intervals. I would imagine with the natural repercussion of drinking all that water it will be like being pregnant again and constantly on the loo! is constipation a real issue with the CD?

hattiejacques · 20/09/2007 09:46

My bowel habits are very weird at the moment. I've never suffered from constipation and have been a once a day person. (Apologies if this is too graphic!)Since starting CD I became much less regular - I went 5 days without going then seem to have settled into a pattern of every other day but have also had a couple of loose ones. Omg have just read this back!

reads fine, its important to know these things. i'm off to see my CDC at 1, she's lost 7 stone in all and is a pretty inspiring woman so i'm hoping some of it will rub off on me. think i will find not having the social aspect of food the hardest part, but then I keep telling myself that it will only be 12 weeks and i'm looking forward to christmas dinner already!

MatildasMummy · 20/09/2007 11:46

Just had a bit of a shock. In preparation for my first meeting thought it would be wise to know how bad "bad" actually was. I was preparing myself for 15.5 stone and I was actually a stone heavier. I can't believe that I have put on a stone and half since I left weight watchers without really noticing it. Although to be fair the 3 stone I put on in the 2 years after getting married went on without me noticing it either! Bizarrely feel more committed than ever. I have to make this work. Think I am going to put some tissues in my handbag. My CDC is a non-practising psychiatrist so hoping she has a good couch!...

SpookyMadMummy · 20/09/2007 13:56

Hi all
Good luck starters!
CD worked for me I have lost over 3 1/2 stones so far. Still have a little to go though!!
I went on the training day for Counsellors yesterday. Was a very interesting day and I learned alot. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be accredited and be able to start seeing clients who want to begin this incredible journey. Have a little bit of homework to do first.. must get back to it!

sophieandbelly · 20/09/2007 14:13

i just wanted to say alto iam not on the cd i have done one just like it, 9mnths preg at mo so will be starting weight lose soon. best tip i was ever given dont drink water to clod! better just below room temp as cold water slows metabolism!!! good luck girls u can do it!!!!

2littlins · 20/09/2007 15:06

I'm struggling today.. bound to happen, should have expected it I guess.
I aren't hungry but really uncomfortable.
My tummy is wailing like a cat, bubbling and cramping and I have a background headache.
Got my ketostix today and are ++++ so am definately in ketosis.
How are you going Losingit?

hattiejacques · 20/09/2007 15:12

Keep going 2littlins! It'll get better and you'll be losing loads.

OP posts:
2littlins · 20/09/2007 17:31

Feeling better now,had some panadol as the cramps got so bad I couldn't sit down.
My body was really telling me to eat to stop feeling so awful [no pain no gain eh!!]
Thanks for the words of encouragement Hattie

hattiejacques · 20/09/2007 17:56

Well done for staying with it. How many days have you done so far? I remember reading when I was in week 2 and really struggling that it gets easier and I thought Yeah right! but it really has for me anyway. I'm not saying I'm never tempted but I think the diet has become much more of a habit and it feels harder to break the further I go if that makes sense

OP posts:
2littlins · 20/09/2007 20:06

Tomorrow is day 6 so I am a bit pathetic really.Feel quite good that I have got over the first major hiccup without caving...will make me try hard the next time I feel like that, as it does pass.
BTW I was a nurse too, used to do only nightshift for years but after bub 2 just couldn't face being awake that long I when was already about 4000hrs sleep deprived... so with you on the night shifts girls, hats off to you for sticking to it as that will make it extra challenging. WELL DONE

loosingit · 20/09/2007 23:51

Hi again everyone.
End of day 4 for me and still no problems - drinking water and peeing like mad. Not that bothered about the Chocolate orange shake I have, will not order them next week. I love the Banana and Chocolate shakes they taste really great. I make them at the 8floz and once mixed take the water up to 16floz - makes the drink last longer and is still thick enough.
Will prob order some soups next week cause i'm ready for something warm in the evening and as we always sit up at the table for meals, soup would probably be better. Are there any shakes that people think are nasty cause i'll steer clear of them.
One question though - As I am 6ft I have 4 shakes to have each day, but the last 2 days, i've only been able to manage 3 of them - sounds daft doesn't it - fatty turning food away - lol Is this a definate problem, should I force the 4th shake down.
Got my other half to measure my arm today cause I can't remember any of the other measurements and i've lost an inch already !!!! I remember the top of my leg was bigger than Victoria beckhams waist - probably my knee is too for that matter.
Anyway - feel really positive - i'm making myself do a non important chore each day - like tidying kitchen cupboards yesterday and today staining patio table and chairs. Have also made myself a water chart to tick off each 500ml cause I can't keep count mentally. Have been reading endless threads regarding how much water to drink for best weight loss results and it seems inconclusive. Love this forum - can't get enough of it during the evening.
Bit worried about the weekend cause temptations will be all around. My other half has been very supportive - reckons my face looks abit thinner - bless!!
Keep on posting cause it's really helping me succeed.
Thanks everyone and keep on losing !!
Ta

hattiejacques · 21/09/2007 09:33

2littlins and loosingit you are both doing so well. A friend asked me how I was managing it and I said I don't really know and I really don't except I feel so much slimmer already and have dropped a dress size which is a great incentive. I've been losing and gaining the same 4 lbs for the last year! Btw I think 4 litres is what most people aim for but personally I struggle to drink that much every day after 3 shakes and a bouillon. Most days I seem to get through 3 litres which is still in excess of the minimum. I had a dream i wolfed a whole tub of ice cream in 2 seconds flat and was so relieved to wake up and find I hadn't!!

2littlins · 22/09/2007 10:06

Hi all,

Well I did my week one weigh in thismorning and I have lost 9.5 lbs.

Watching my cousins littlin today and are horrified she bought over a container of chocolate fudge brownies as a snack.I have found myself with my nose stuck under the lid inhaling deeply, its almost as good as tasting it.

I too am now dreaming of scoffing my face with high carb content foods. Funny thing is I thought I might allow myself a treat next weekend and I can't decide what it should be.
At this rate it will be nothing.

Starting to be able to get into all those clothes in my cupboards and draws that have been saving for "when I loose weight"
Obviously can't bend or sit in them yet but can get them done up!!

Have a good weekend everyone and stay strong....I'll let you know how the brownie challenge goes......

hattiejacques · 22/09/2007 10:32

That's great weight loss! Well done!! We've got to will each other to stay away from temptation. I seem to either have easy days or really tough ones but nothing between. Yesterday I put some chicken in my mouth intending to eat it but didn't go through with it and felt very pathetic afterwards. Then later I did the same with some wine gums! I've already had my choc orange bar and 1 1/2 litres water and about to have a bouillon drink to keep me from hankering for what I can't have

hattiejacques · 22/09/2007 12:41

boleyngirl are you still with us?

OP posts:
loosingit · 22/09/2007 21:03

Hi everyone -
great weight loss - try your hardest not to have a treat !!
End of day 6 for me now and the week seems to have flown by.
Don't get weighed till afternoon of day 9 cause of cdc's holiday. Want to be weighed tomorrow, but just have to wait. I haven't got on the scales - have decided for now, I want to wait for weigh in.
Today was fine even though I thought Saturday would be very difficult. Helped out at monthly jumble sale today for age concern and I always buy a fruit cake for family for tea time. Bought the cake still for the rest of them and it's sitting in the fridge - not bothered - which is good. I'm really not hungry at all today. Very strange.
Will post again either tomorrow or Monday.
Keep it up everyone - X

hattiejacques · 23/09/2007 18:33

Good on you loosingit for not giving in to the cake. It's hard not to be able to compromise even a little bit on this diet but the quick weight loss is such an incentive and also the threat of coming out of ketosis! I've been to a barbecue this afternoon which was complete agony because the food looked SO delicious. I kept thinking about how I'd feel later if I had anything and how I wouldn't want to be weighed on Tuesday and it kept me on the straight and narrow. Looking forward to being able to eat again in a few weeks hopefully. Btw have you tried your tetra's frozen? They are really yummy - like ice cream and last ages. I've been saving mine for an evening treat.

Hi,

Well done everyone on the will power this weekend!!!I am happy to report that I came up with a way around the brownie challenge.I put the left overs all in a bag and froze them.I thought when I get back to eating I can cut a little chunk off and savour it as a frozen chocolatey treat.

I have had an up and down weekend.Got a pretty nasty migraine yesterday, only ever had 2 in my life so it was a bit odd.My vision completely went and all I could see was flashing rainbows.I rode it out with losts of water and I have to admit the nasty side effects do pass and then I am always glad I have stuck at it.I figure the long term goal suspasses the eventual bad health of staying overweight.

I have had a moment of weakness I'm ashamed to say and licked a pringle (and to be honest the taste was so full on I didn't want to take that one any further) how ridiculous is that Hattie I think it was like your chicken and wine gum moment.
I'm not hungry and are managing the water so I guess its roll on week 2.

I am so enjoying this chat thread and look forward to seeing how everyones getting on.We definately need to cheerlead each other on it really helps.Let us know how the weigh goes losingit..good luck!
Have a good week.
x

hattiejacques · 23/09/2007 20:22

2littlins I can't stop laughing at you licking a pringle!! At least neither of us have swallowed anything we shouldn't! Well done with the brownies. We do seem to be finding some extra willpower from somewhere. It helps me too to read the posts on here. Keep going everyone and don't forget to post your weigh ins when you have them.

i start tomorrow and i'm really excited about. i feel a bit like a condemned man and have had a lovely last meal (no carbs) and am raring to go.i told my boss that i was doing this diet, he was very supportive and said if i was having an off day to shout and he would give me some space. work has been pretty quiet recently although sod's law it's now getting busy and next week it's gone mad. tuesday (day 2 - which i gather is the nightmare day) i have to organise a big event for over 200 people and make sure there are enough brekfast pastries and afternoon tea treats to go round. i think i'm going to need to be strong but have found motivational picture of me looking all slim and lovely to keep me going.
just wanted to say to everyone on this thread that you are doing really well. having had the conversation with my cdc on thursday there seems to be one thing about this diet which is different to all the rest. on ww you could be naughty but you could make allowances and have less points the next day, but with cdc it could kick you out of ketosis and undo all the good work you have already done in getting to that stage, and this is part that helps you lose the weight.
as i type my husband is sitting opposite me eating crisps with pesto hoummos. think it's time for me to go to bed, looking forward to a fresh start and the first step forward tomorrow.

2littlins · 23/09/2007 22:55

Good for you MM,all the best for the next few days!
