Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

Anyone like to join me in 2020?

@Lou2020 Sorry to hear you had a bad time in 2019. Fingers crossed 2020 proves better! How does the 121 Cambridge Diet work? Genuinely interested.

I’m in with you - going to resurrect my mfp too - find it really useful and keeps me on track. Just eating a pack of jellies before the ding dong 🔔 of midnight. Good luck everyone - we have this

cheninblanc · 31/12/2019 13:50

Thanks busteddreams - happy new year looking fwd to shifting a few stone with you all! Are we doing a weekly loss chart?

SheepSocks · 31/12/2019 14:46

I am so ashamed of myself! I lost control yesterday, ate a multipack of snickers and a giant dairymilk. As I was doing it I was telling myself this is my last binge.

Today I feel like shit! I must remember what scoffing chocolate does to me. There is no chocolate left in the house now. Onwards and upwards in 2020.

Karcheer · 31/12/2019 16:44

I’m going to do restart my mfp too.

Lionso · 31/12/2019 17:33

I was going to start yesterday, but got taken out today to the cinema and Pizza Express! So I will be starting on 1st January after all with the BSD.

At least there will zero junk food in the house then Blush.

NorthernPowermouse · 31/12/2019 17:41

I’ve downloaded MFP as well...asked my weight and I had to guess...really not looking forward to getting on the scales tomorrow and REALLY hope I didn’t underestimate...

Karcheer · 31/12/2019 18:14

I’m really not sure what to do with all the remaining junk food and cheese!

ilovetrees30 · 31/12/2019 18:18

@karcheer i havent managed to eat up all our junk food but im just going to be realistic and weigh it out and log it if i eat any of it.

I found a physical food diary i bought many moons ago so I tempted to start that tomorrow rather than mfp. Not sure though

RunningNinja79 · 31/12/2019 18:57

Today wasn't as easy as yesterday. The team decided to get breakfast from the van across the road and I was kind of fancying a sausage sandwich, but I managed to not. Just had my green tea this morning then didn't eat till 11.

I weighed myself this morning (its been a while) to see where I was at and I was 2 lbs lighter than I thought so that was good. Hopefully its going in the right direction.

The more I think about it, the more I think IF will work best for me. I'm running 13 miles tomorrow so will have to have tomorrow off as I will need the fuel, but it is the only time I can have off (ie when Im running). Every other day if Im not doing any physical activity before 11 I will stay in fast mode.

Hope everyone has a good new year.

Mumumumu · 31/12/2019 19:05

Can I join you? Determined 2020 will be the year I finally feel comfortable in my body and not dread the summer which means more skin on show! I’ve got a couple of stone to lose and am thinking MFP in conjunction with Fitbit could be the way to go! Best of luck to everybody, hope this thread keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Karcheer · 31/12/2019 19:10

Has anyone got any good tips for healthy snacks? I’m a serial picker and I don’t know how to get a handle on this, unhealthy and snacking in general is definitely one of my biggest issues.

Di62 · 31/12/2019 19:16

I'm in. I will start tomorrow.

  • Dry January
  • Two days a week - 600 calories
  • Five days a week - Slimming World
  • Exercise - dog walking 2/3 20mins per day
  • 4.5 stone to lose 😱
RhubarbTea · 31/12/2019 19:29

@Karcheer

I'm the same! When I remember to buy them, I find radishes, slices of fresh juicy red pepper and celery sticks all dipped in hummus are very yummy. Or crackers with peanut butter on and some cherry tomatoes. Or bananas. I'm a terrible snack fiend and seemingly always hungry. It's the bane of my life! Interested to hear others snack ideas.
Oh, I like Cherry Bakewell Nakd bars too...

Ethiopianflower · 31/12/2019 20:04

Thanks for all the great snack advice - I am a real picker. Chopped apples, almonds, grapes, slice of ham, mandarin I find good too

SunshineCake · 01/01/2020 00:03

I thought I was part of the crew?!?!

Happy New Year everyone 🎉🎊🥳👍🏻

FiveShelties · 01/01/2020 01:00

Reporting in - fell off November's thread and now back with a new enthusiasm and eagerness to lose weight -- well almostGrin.

Weighed in at 10 st 5lbs and want to be under 10 stone - preferably 9 12. Plan is - much less alcohol, more water, more walking, less sitting - just the normal stuff really. Am recovering from Cruxiate injury so have been sitting far too much.

Happy New Year everyone and may 2020 be very kind to you allWine

Piixxiiee · 01/01/2020 01:10

I'd like to join. Just consumed enough crackers, cheese, dips, sausage rolls set with baileys and wine to keep me going until 2021.....
Under active thyroid is slowing my journey to svelte new me.... and my eating is out of control. I start 2nd jan. Lower carb and lower sugar. More exercise.

NorthernPowermouse · 01/01/2020 07:30

I just weighed in...underestimated by a whole stone which was a bit of a shock. Even more determined to lose it now though. Good luck everyone!

BustedDreams · 01/01/2020 07:33

Happy New Year!

Weighing in 145lbs/10st 5lbs.

@Karcheer did you know you can freeze cheese? Wrap it well, it should be fine. If I’m hungry between meals (not often) I’ll have chopped apple, chopped cheese (tiny small pieces) and a nice cuppa. Eating protein at each meal will help keep you satiated until next meal so might not need a snack.

@Mumumumu welcome. Being part of a group and tracking progress are proven ways to aid/keep you motivated. Just ‘turn up’ each day. There’s great support to be had.

@Di62 sounds like a sound plan. Good luck! You can do it.

@SunshineCake I’ve ‘seen’ you on board so didn’t tag you. Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend. Happy New Year Matey.

@FiveShelties welcome back lovie. You and me are weight twins Grin what is a cruxiate injury, never heard of that before.

@Piixxiiee welcome, we’d love you to join us. Reading & posting on threads daily has really helped me. I’ve also discovered the joys of an under active thyroid. Still trying to get the dose right.

Right ladies let’s do this, let’s get serious (not too serious Grin) and kick the wobbly bits to the curb!

Starting Weight 10st 5lbs. Weighing daily as it helps to keep me on track.

Today’s menu is home made red pepper and Tom soup. Evening meal is pork & veg tray bake. Apple, celery, cheese platter. Drinks water & white tea.

Good Luck!

Happy new year everyone!

I hit my 1st Jan weight target (and not an ounce under it!) so only 6kg left (2.2kg gone since 7 Dec).

BustedDreams · 01/01/2020 07:40

@NorthernPowermouse well done on braving the scales, that’s the worst bit done. Don’t be hard on yourself and you’ve come to the right place for support. Don’t do what I did, my stone turned into 3 before I did anything about it. I was in total denial and never thought I was over weight. I saw the scales go up, thought it was temporary, saw them go up again .... Don’t be me! Make the change now!

@annabell22 Happy New Year & Congratulations 🌟🏅 that’s a great start to the new year!

BustedDreams - thank you for the lovely welcome and huge thanks for working so hard on the threads, all very much appreciated.

Sorry I spelt Cruciate incorrectly - it is a ligament in your leg which runs through the knee. A man ran into me at the airport as I was returning from UK, and I twisted and the ligament is torn. My knee was really swollen, just huge and I have been having physio for two months. Hoping to avoid surgery. The 'funny' thing is that my legs are big, and the physio keeps measuring my leg to monitor the swelling - every time the tape measure comes out I cringeBlush It as been very painful and such a stupid accident to have, but I am back driving and almost walking at my normal speed and distance now so all good.

How strange we are the same weight and I weigh daily tooGrin

BustedDreams · 01/01/2020 09:04

@FiveShelties Ouch that sounds very painful. Here’s to a speedy recovery. Interestingly my knees are big too, nearly as big as my boobies Grin I think I remember that we were twinnies on a previous thread too. Im a rapid gainer if I take my eye of the ball portion wise and I don’t weigh daily Blush

Just did my weigh in. 13st 1lb 1/4. I've never been over 13 stone in my life. Hopefully you lovely people can keep me accountable.
