Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

Anyone like to join me in 2020?

Well I didn’t quite have the day I planned. I got booted out of training as they’d overbooked so I didn’t get the massive workout day then I ended up staying at a friends who gave me steak, homemade chips and veg for dinner and a magnum for pud. However I still got in 12k steps and it was lovely to see them. I find it very difficult to turn down food that people make or buy me!

Long shift at work today and potentially collecting a friend from the airport after which may mess up dinner plans but in theory;
Breakfast - cereal bar and apple
Lunch - soup
Dinner - omelette and salad

If I don’t need to go to the airport and I finish work on time I might do the 30 day shred but I’ll play it by ear.

SunshineCake · 11/01/2020 07:11

That sounds great @fallfallfall and a great use of leftovers. I have left over carrot and coriander soup for lunch and then the infamous stroganoff for dinner.

@Foreverlexicon while people are showing you love by buying and cooking you food etc remember to show love to yourself and say no to food that takes you over or is to kind to you.

Dh is working today so I'll be out with the dog as long as I can face this morning and will do the difficult walk and probably on my feet most of the day.

Still not used to DS1 being back at uni. He went back on Monday. Really missing him. It's harder this time than the previous two occasions but then those times he was only here one or two nights. Lots of cuddles with my dog today I think.

I will weigh in shortly.

Have a good day everyone.

cherrytree63 · 11/01/2020 07:13

Morning everyone and how lovely to read about people's successes.
I have two little victories to report:
I'm another pound dow hurray!
Also when I lost weight and toned up before I treated myself to several pairs of "nice" jeans, which weren't stretchy like a pair of leggings.
It was one of the signs that I was putting on weight when I couldn't get them past my knees Grin
Well yesterday I tried them on again and I got one pair on, weirdly the pair I tried last as they've got the smallest waist which shows the weight"s all gone south on my bum and legs.
Still 16:8 ing, not always making good food choices, although I'm still not wavering with chocolate and crap.
Does anyone else get sluggish bowels while their body adapts to no sugar?
I'm still not exercising other than looking after my horses (not riding due to my bad foot) and walking the dogs (not very far or fast as me and OH go together and he's got a bad knee).
Lacking in motivation and energy at the moment.

SunshineCake · 11/01/2020 10:53

Well done your weight loss @cherrytree63 and your jeans win. It is such a great moment, isn't it? I'm still gutted I got rid of some new black jeans as now they would fit.

I'm 2lbs down since January 1st so very happy.

Given weight doesn't go on the morning after an indulgent night does anyone know if or when I will pay the price for the cookies I had last night ?

Also, technically I am late my period if I count from the first one I had last month and not the second I had the same month but now I am slightly bleeding. Any clues? Definitely not pregnant. Convinced I am peri menopausal but still not showing on bloods if I've understood what the nurse said correctly. How do I know if this is all okay or not ? At appointments for seemingly unrelated stuff I get asked if I have lost weight unintentionally and I say no as I am assuming when I stopped eating many foods I was intolerant too then lost two stone that was intentional weight loss (even though I had no clue it would happen or be so much)

2020newme · 11/01/2020 12:02

@SunshineCake I hear you re DS. My DD has completed her uni studies and has a job in our home city but I really miss my DS who is in London at uni. It's hard Sad

Re peri menopause. My periods were all over the place for about six months but I definitely think you should double check with GP to put your mind at rest.

@cherrytree63 it's so lovely when you can fit back into clothes. I never mind having to throw away bigger clothes Grin I am also constipated and had to revert to senokot.

Off out to dinner tonight which will be tricky but I may try to do OMAD to limit the calories. Am also doing Dry January (and possibly dry 2020) which will help with overall intake. I have looked at the menu and have decided on soup starter and chicken main. Hopefully nobody will be ordering desserts as that's my downfall.

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/01/2020 14:47

Hi all

I'm watching Toy Story 4 while drinking a McD's milkshake Blush Needed it to get over shoe shopping with a teen!

No idea @SunshineCake it will catch up or if you're really strict, you may not notice it at all. Hope you're a bit more settled as the week goes on and get used to DS not being there again.

Did an hour swimming this morning with the kids - swimming, carrying them on my back, chasing them etc.

Well done for the jeans fitting @cherrytree63.

fallfallfall · 11/01/2020 16:16

I’m looking online at jeans...considering a pair. But I have purchased 6 lovely tops for my February trip to the uk to visit my daughter and grandchildren :)
I do need to focus on my heart rate and get it in the fat burning zone more often.

BustedDreams · 11/01/2020 20:55

Good Evening All

Today’s menu was a gluten free full English at 14:00 then a Hot & Frothy Turmeric Almond milk drink at 19:00. Kitchen cleaned and closed soon after. I’ve trimmed the amount of dairy I’m having in favour of unsweetened nut milks. So far so good.

Some great progress being made!

@fallfallfall I’ve considered a reduction myself!

I will have to make this a short post as letters aren’t typing and screen unresponsive. Night night.

SheepSocks · 11/01/2020 22:27

@BustedDreams I love turmeric drinks, I will be replacing my daily Nescafé gingerbread latte satchet with a homemade turmeric latte made with almond milk.

I tried to go the gym but didn't realise it closed early on a Saturday 🙈 I came home and did yoga with Adrienne, plus my husband helped me to do some sit ups and push ups.

I shall attempt the gym again tomorrow.

Foreverlexicon · 12/01/2020 05:23

My menu changed again yesterday. Might just reply back afterwards in future Grin not the best day but not the worst either.

B - cereal bar and croissant
S - apple
L - tomato and chorizo soup
D - sweet chilli chicken, sweet potato and roast veg
S - mini snickers bar

Fell asleep really early then woke up and for some reason ate 3 biscuits and a few squares of galaxy caramel Hmm before going back to sleep. Didn’t do any exercise beyond some walking at work - forgot how exhausting doing my actual job is after 6 weeks of training!

BustedDreams · 12/01/2020 07:24

Happy Sunday Lovelies

Might be a short post again ... I’m not sure if it’s the MNs site or my iPad. Screen unresponsive and it’s taking ages to type.

@SheepSocks Do you notice your teeth look whiter and feel cleaner after a Golden Turmeric drink? And it works on the inside of cups too.

@Foreverlexicon that menu looks very tasty 😋

It’s around this time after the New Year that people start to ‘give up’ their good intentions. On that note I’ve posted some motivational outcome cards ... how you’re likely to feel if you keep going or give up. Might be useful. The last image is the cover of the book I’ve taken them from.

OH doesn’t know if he wants to go out for lunch or not. If not it will be omelettes & salad for lunch. Slow cooker beef chilli later (if not eaten today will have tomorrow) Golden turmeric milk. Water. White tea.

Have a great day! Don’t give up!

Thanks @busteddreams, I needed that today. Woken up pretty hungry but not eating til after park run. I also really wanted chocolate last night...but resisted. I hope I see results soon...

Having bacon, eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms for brunch and then lemon chicken today. Yesterday was eggs and avocado and spag bol for tea.

Have a good day everyone.

2020newme · 12/01/2020 08:27

Busted thanks for the inspirational quotes - that one was brilliant, both sides of the same coin, really hit the spot.

I had a great time last night. No alcohol Halo and had the soup starter and a fish main. No pud Halo Halo

Am hosting a kids birthday party today so I will have to have cake (I believe it's the law?) but will make it a tiny slice and will really enjoy ever morsel rather than inhaling it. I won't be tempted by all the beige food so that's OK.

BustedDreams · 12/01/2020 09:46

You’re very welcome.

@2020newme yes it is the law Wink Enjoy the party!

@NorthernPowermouse we had full English yesterday. Really enjoyed it!

Morning everyone.

Not posted in here for a couple of days.

Been weighing myself everyday to get a week average. My scales didn't budge. Stayed at 12st 9.8 then on Friday they went down. Not much, but still down. Went back up higher than original on Saturday and today back to 12st 9.8. Anyway as it went down on Friday it did bring my average down to 12st 9.6. So at least I know where Im starting from. Ideally a 2 stone loss would be brilliant (or even dare I say 2 and a half stone), however Im just looking for a stone to a stone and a half. I'll be happy if I can get into the 11's. This might then give me the encouragement to keep going.

Still managing to keep to the 8 hour eating window though I do relax it a bit at the weekend and make it more of a 9-10 hour window. Though the weekends are good for lots of exercise. I have an 8 mile run planned for today. This will burn a good 800-900 calories. Just wish the weather was a bit better like yesterday. Oh well it is what it is. I've ran in rain before, it wont kill me.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and hope next week we can continue with our plans to achieve our goals

MrsJonesAndMe · 12/01/2020 09:59

Hello

I'm checking in as for one day I am at a total loss of 2 stone. Flowers to all of you as I wouldn't have been able to do it on my own. I know my weight will still fluctuate a bit, so now it is really keeping up the healthy habits.

A special thanks for @busteddreams. Your posts always have something useful - and this morning's really hit the spot.

We are off out for a coffee/cake and lunch/tea all planned, so that balance. Tonight will be yoga and dry brushing session #3.

Enjoy the cake @2020newme.

Sound like a motivated day @NorthernPowermouse

I don't know how you do it @Foreverlexicon. Are you finding time to ride your horse? must be such a lovely thing to do!

NorthernPowermouse · 12/01/2020 10:30

I weighed this morning and another pound off...so 11st 7 now. Which is encouraging. Park run was soggy but not quite as hard as last week. We just need to keep going - sometimes difficult with a v stubborn DS!

2020newme · 12/01/2020 10:47

@MrsJonesAndMe WOW!!! Congratulations!!! Flowers

SunshineCake · 12/01/2020 13:32

[star]@MrsJonesAndMe well done!

Great news @NorthernPowermouse.

I had a shock as I am down again so this months loss is 3.3 lbs

SheepSocks · 12/01/2020 13:47

@BustedDreams - I don't know that about turmeric, it's made me love it even more! Once I have some money I would love to whiten my teeth, if the turmeric can speed this up, I will be delighted!

BustedDreams · 12/01/2020 19:02

@MrsJonesAndMe bloody well done lovely! 👏🏅🌟. That’s fantastic!

@SunshineCake great progress! 🌟. Keep going, you can do it!

@SheepSocks it’s based purely on my own observations. I’ve noticed my smile is more sparkly after having drunk Golden Turmeric Drink 😁

Kitchen cleaned and closed. Going to settle and have my Golden Turmeric and sparkling water thereafter. Looking forward to the PH & MM documentary tonight. What a palaver that all is.

It’s windy and snowy -11C with the wind chill, not horrible but not inviting. I’ll have to pace about the house and use the elliptical to achieve my daily steps and exercise minutes.
Knitting might help prevent dementia but it does nothing for the waistline.

Lose in 2020/January.
ilovetrees30 · 12/01/2020 20:28

@fallfallfall what an incredible talent. I knit and crochet but I couldn't attempt something like that!

MrsJonesAndMe · 12/01/2020 20:49

Wow, @fallfallfall that's a lovely jumper - I can do squares (crochet) but nothing like that either! Bet your children are looking forward to your visit. You'll be coming to slightly warmer climes Grin Not often the UK can be referred to as such!

Thanks all and well done to you too @SunshineCake. Looks like you've found your thing - IF!

Missed you for some reason this morning @RunningNinja79...8 miles Shock

Tell me more about a golden tumeric drink @BustedDreams?!
