Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

Anyone like to join me in 2020?

Add your name, personal goals, eating/exercise plan etc.

Together we can do it!

Morning all

Sorry I've been quiet, I haven't been particularly good with my eating but I weighed this morning and was down to 10.11 so just one more pound until my pre xmas weight. Will try and have a good food choices day today.

Its friday woohoo!

ilovetrees30 · 10/01/2020 07:19

I have been doing daily weigh ins this week to see what difference it makes. Today was the first up but i was a smidge over my calories yesterday and I had a mince pie at work. Really enjoying being back on proper food with fruits and vegetables. My mental state feels better too. I don't know if thats the magnesium supplement I an taking or the eating better or just coincidental timing. Ive struggled mentally with Christmas and New Years ever since TTC and losing my dad. Todays menu is a protein smoothie (if anyone is looking for a good protein powder have a look at purition!), roasted parsnip and rosemary soup with a cracker and a lentil and vegetable daal for tea. With a snack of grapes and babybel.

DrDiva · 10/01/2020 08:05

Morning all! Well done on the losses, and the healthy habits. You’re all an inspiration!

Like @Foreverlexicon I have just braved the scales and I have gone up. We’re weight loss twins, I’d like to lose a Stone over the next two months as well. I’ve made terrible food choices over the past couple of weeks, just so tired I’ve stuffed in the nearest thing. Today, however, I feel more on the ball, probably out of shock at the scales!

I’m just off to catch up on the thread properly...

annabell22 · 10/01/2020 08:11

Morning all!

@Foreverlexicon another late March birthday here, I've set myself a birthday goal too.

Pleased to report that today's weigh in was a loss, so now 800g down in 2020 which is a lot better than 200g. Again, the time of the weigh in might have contributed, 8.45am instead of 5.45am as Friday isn't a work day for me. I work from 7am until 4pm but finish earlier on Thursdays, so yesterday resisted my friend's invitation to meet for coffee and went to the gym instead, where I achieved one of my short-term goals by running 5km in under 32 minutes. I knew I could do it, but I don't tend to bother! My long term goal is to do it under 30 mins. My PB is 27 something but that was about 6 years ago when I was 45 and training for a half marathon.

Off to the cinema today to see 1917, no popcorn allowed!

Mumma1984 · 10/01/2020 09:08

I lost 3.3lbs in the last week yay! Only 20lbs to go 🤣

SheepSocks · 10/01/2020 09:18

I had to a bit of a bad day yesterday. I ended up being 10% over my calorie aim. I had a family get together and it was difficult to make the right choices with the food available. I ate a lot of sandwiches and I don't normally eat bread.

I'm going to the gym to tonight, I'll try and balance it out there.

My weigh in day is on Monday and I will actually weep if I haven't lost anything, I've never stuck to diet and exercise this militantly before.

Mumma1984 · 10/01/2020 09:28

@SheepSocks I bet you will! That's not much over! One day won't hurt because you have been good the rest of the time!

I am away with friends in Leeds this weekend and I'm worried about sticking to everything! I am going to drink but the food needs to be good!

SheepSocks · 10/01/2020 09:34

@Mumma1984 do you know which restaurants you will be eating out at? If you do, you could look at their menus online and plan your healthy choices before you get there?

Mumma1984 · 10/01/2020 09:36

@SheepSocks yeh I'm not sure where we are going but they are super skinny size 6 girls so I'm sure it's not bad lol I'll seek out some salad

BustedDreams · 10/01/2020 10:42

Good Morning You Lovely Lot

@Foreverlexicon that not too bad and it sounds like you have a plan!

@fallfallfall the hike in the snow sounds invigorating!

@MrsJonesAndMe ok. I’ve got a small circular loofah pad type thing. I’m going to start doing it dry before shower. Thanks for posting those links ... will before tonight’s shower/bath.

@Weekday28 great to hear you’re still making progress.

@ilovetrees30 (Hug) Sounds like a difficult time for you. Your food for today sounds delicious.

@DrDiva You'll soon be back into the groove. Once you get your blood sugars balanced the cravings will diminish and you’ll start to feel more energised and motivated.

@annabell22 well done on the 5k under 32 mins!

@Mumma1984 well done on your progress!

@SheepSocks put it down to a bad day at the office (we all have them) If I go carb heavy I retain water so weigh heavier than I would if I’d had the same calorie value in protein, veg etc iyswim. Don’t become despondent if any water weight gain isn’t gone by Monday. Try and have extra water to flush the bugger out Grin

Today’s menu:-

Home made soup & 1 slice of gluten free bread/butter
Still deciding what to have for evening meal ....

Keep on it ladies ... it will be worth it.

Well done to everyone, so many feeling healthier its great!

I'm going to attempt home-made broccoli soup in a bit. Not tried to make it before, lets see how that goes. Its a sunny and frosty day here today, definitely a soup day. Smile

SunshineCake · 10/01/2020 11:19

Morning all

Just back from a one hour 35 minute walk with the dog. Looking forward to my first meal in 1.5 hours. Eek.

My scales are mean. For a brief moment it teased me that I was a pound down. Of the last four days days 1, 3 and 4 have been the same with day two giving me a 0.2 lb loss. I was disappointed but I told myself I am still down from January 1st's weigh in and you've taught me well as I figured I must be due a whoosh loss!

When I've lost 3lbs I am allowing myself pringles.

Lunch is home made carrot and coriander soup with potato salad, also home made. Dinner is beef stroganoff with rice and veg though I will only have a small spoonful of rice. I have left over brown rice from yesterday, does anyone know if I can reheat or okay to serve cold? I know there is the risk of food poisoning with leftover rice but is that mixed ?

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/01/2020 12:35

Keep at it all of you!

I've got the munchies Blush Scales down to 27.9lbs down in total. I really want that 0.1lb!

SunshineCake · 10/01/2020 13:08

I forgot to post a win. I am at least an inch off my middle with potentially four but I think two is probable realistic. I know I have been 39, 38, 37 and 36 in varying order and now I'm 35.

Munchies here too but I had a mini white twix. and I will try and not have anything but if I need it I will have grapes.

Mumma1984 · 10/01/2020 14:22

I really need to start measuring! I have only my partners metal one haha no use!

fallfallfall · 10/01/2020 16:51

sunshine, I know what it says about rice but I’ve never experienced any issues with eating leftovers. I’d reheat it in the microwave with a bit of water added just to be safe. Or if it’s a really small portion add it into the stroganoff as it cooks up?
Excellent news on the inches lost!
mumma, metal ones...take the joy out of measuring.
Weight down over here. I’m a happy walker.

Lose in 2020/January.
SunshineCake · 10/01/2020 16:59

That's what I was going to do. Just went to try the stroganoff. Wrong plug in so it's sat there since 8am doing nothing. Feel like crying. Dinner ready at 1am. Not sure what to do now as I have turned it on in a panic but won't be up at 1am so should I turn it off and put in the fridge to do tomorrow ?

fallfallfall · 10/01/2020 17:01

Yup, into the fridge for an easy tomorrow.
Onto plan B for supper. What are your options?

SunshineCake · 10/01/2020 19:10

Left over veggie chilli.

SheepSocks · 10/01/2020 20:21

Today I had leftover veggie chilli today, I made them into burrito wraps. I've mostly avoided carbs this week with the exception of the sandwiches last night.

Now go tackle the weekend where I normally treat myself. I am going to fill myself with water instead of reaching for chocolate and cakes!

MinnieLatte · 10/01/2020 21:12

Lovely to have a good read of the thread & see how people are doing.
I'm feeling very positive and I really hope this continues.

Thank you for the welcome, @BustedDreams- my boobs weigh a ton as well! Id love to reduce a couple of cup sizes!

I'm weighing myself on a Thursday & I lost 5lb this week! Like another poster, I'm sure it's mainly water but it's a real incentive to keep going.
I've stuck to my meal plans and haven't been hungry apart from a couple of evenings when I was very late home and wanted something to eat the minute I walked in the door- any suggestions for something that would hit the spot on these occasions? Carrot sticks just don't cut it!

I did a killer class at the gym on Wednesday- plus I was about 20years older than the other women!! I ache in so many places!
Decided to do a Pilates class tonight which was great.

Good luck everyone!

SunshineCake · 10/01/2020 21:36

I'm confessing to a mini aero and four chocolate cookies. Within eating windows but still.

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/01/2020 21:50

Ah well, @sunshinecake tomorrow is a new day. Hope you enjoy the stroganoff when you do have it.

I pulled it back a bit as I munched on pop corn which isn't so calorific and had a nice stir fry for tea. Hungry now, but off to bed soon.

Well done @MinnieLatte

fallfallfall · 10/01/2020 22:30

minnie and busted i had mine surgically reduced just last april (9 months ago). they were a burden in so many ways, poorly supported despite a massive budget on bras. no regrets. i was wearing 36DD but they were so dog eared.
anyway day before surgery i was 150, i don't know how much they removed. 2-4 lbs i believe so i should get down to 146.
they reduction highlighted my belly...which was nicely hidden. and is a huge motivator to get in a nicer shape.

fallfallfall · 10/01/2020 22:35

sunshine, using several left overs in the fridge i will make stroganoff for tonight.
i have french onion soup base (not much but will be perfect for the liquid ), fennel, peppers and squash to add in with steak left over from last nights meal.
generally with loads of veg i can cut the noodle portions in half (be it pasta or Chinese or any noodle dish).
