Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

Yup @BustedDreams having got on the scales this morning, I know I can't just stick to the 8hr window and expect a loss. My weight has gone up a bit...so time to knuckle down.

Ended up with a 17 1/4hr fast (not planned, just life) and a walk outside before the bad weather arrives. Food still not amazing. Need to sort myself out!

Have a good day all!

KurriKawari · 07/01/2020 13:28

@sunshinecake I've attached screenshot of the app, would really recommend. It also has a meal plan section and will work out the shopping list for you, nice and simple.

@BustedDreams Wednesday sounds good.

SunshineCake · 07/01/2020 13:42

Thank you @KurriKawari.

DrDiva · 07/01/2020 14:07

@MrsJonesAndMe food not amazing here either, I’m hoping it’s just getting back into the swing of things that is causing a bit of a blip. Plus it doesn’t help that I am so knackered. DS is back to wetting the bed up to three times a night, and I just can’t get back to sleep after getting up to him. I th Ugh we had cracked it, but I think the broken arm and tummy bug means that he is so tired he is sleeping really deeply and missing the cues. Oh well, what can I say, I wasn’t reliably dry till 10, so it’s also in his genes. At least I know what it’s like, and I have never made him feel bad for it, no matter how much I desperately want to stay in my nice, cosy bed! Grin

I am at least managing not to snack. Onwards and upwards.

2020newme · 07/01/2020 18:22

Thanks Busted I will weigh in tomorrow.

I have been really hungry today for no apparent reason. Maybe because I didn't have a lot on at work? Anyway I was good, and walked around the park again.

Nicoise salad for dinner tonight. I know it's not salad weather at all but I really fancied it. It was a gigantic bowlful. I couldn't be arsed to work out the calories so just took the highest example from MFP as I had a huge bowlful Smile

I have a day in court tomorrow (work, not been norty) so that will be really absorbing and I won't notice I am hungry until Judge says we can break for lunch.

ilovetrees30 · 07/01/2020 18:52

@2020newme the salad sounds lovely! I had a beef mince and black bean with spinach taco bowl tonight. Was a bit spicy but really tasty!! Enough left for lunch tomorrow too!

MrsJonesAndMe · 07/01/2020 19:00

Thanks @DrDiva I pulled it back with an orange this PM for snack and then a lovely cottage pie even if I say so myself with lots of veg and sweet potato mash. Now fasting, but my stomach is rumbling an hour later Blush

DS not dry at night either and I just stick him in a pull up as I can't cope with the thought!

Did anyone see the program about Calorie restriction and Paleo - Giles Coren on BBC4 about living longer. Interesting crazy people on there! Including people who only eat fruit Shock

I will catch up with you all tomorrow. Planning a bigger walk and food a bit more under control. Now just need to stick to it!

RunningNinja79 · 07/01/2020 19:18

MIL was home by lunch time yesterday with some drugs so should be getting better. DH spoke to her yesterday, but not today. Thanks for asking. Im giving the FB issue a bit of a break for today. I've reported the profile in a few different ways. I need to take a break for my own sanity, I was getting worked up by just thinking about it this morning.

Much quieter day today, although really busy at work which was good because I didn't have chance to clockwatch until food time. In fact I was late at eating and it was after 12. I'd like to wait that long every day, but I know it will be too difficult.

I'm not really focusing on calories just yet, just getting into the habit of IF with my food time being 11-7 with mindful eating during this time. Just drinking water (if anything) and maybe green tea during my fasting time. I will start to be a bit more calorie thinking in a few weeks. Maybe March. Change one thing at a time.

SunshineCake · 07/01/2020 19:32

I'm the same, ninja, concentrating on the eating in an eight hour window rather than stressing too much about what I ate. I am being pretty good all the same but then enjoyed a mini snickers after lunch. First one in months.

Mumma1984 · 07/01/2020 19:38

An I join?! I'm desperate to lose weight for my wedding in May, I'm really panicking I've left it far too late! I need to lose a minimum of a stone but I'd rather a stone and a half!

I'm eating 1200 cals a day and I've exercised every day but one since new year, mainly running but also some weight, any tips? Think I can do it?

Xx

KurriKawari · 07/01/2020 20:58

Today I've had two cups of tea, a slimfast bar, an orange, salad and a homemade chicken wrap. Hoping to batch cook some lasagne tomorrow. Although am out for lunch with a friend will choose wisely!

FrazzledCareerWoman · 07/01/2020 21:10

Hi all, well done on sticking to your respective plans! I had a better day (my evening over eating is reducing, I think my stomach is getting used to less food) and managed another day of same intake all day until evening meal.
Forgot to weigh in today so will do tomorrow.

SheepSocks · 07/01/2020 21:22

I went to the gym again today, only for a half hour core torture session. I hurt in new places that I didn't know existed!

I cooked another meal from Joe Wick's lean in 15. I realise that my weight gain over the past years is because I've lost sight of portion control.

I just need to learn to get past the hunger all the time and sweet cravings.

NorthernPowermouse · 07/01/2020 21:26

@Mumma1984 course you can do it! Are you following a plan or just watching what you eat?

I’ve done pretty well today; yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, veg curry for lunch (with chapatti) then veg and houmous for tea - all within 8 hours. I’m not that hungry tonight either (but bowl if curry was huge...)

Went to Pilates for the first time in ages and though it was tough, I feel pretty good now. Will ache tomorrow though!

Mumma1984 · 07/01/2020 21:32

@NorthernPowermouse just calorie counting and keeping below 1200 and also no white carbs - also I'm making sure I burn min of 250 cal on exercise a day, which isn't much so I'm setting my target low for now to get on track, I used to do CrossFit 6 times a week burning 700 cal easily but it's just no possible with my lifestyle now - I have 1 yr old and work full time and live 40 min from a CrossFit gym anyways !

How are u getting on? What's your goals?

eatsideofthebay · 07/01/2020 21:35

Can I join too? So, now the kids are back at school, I weighed myself on Monday. 239lb SadShock

So it's a crapload of weight. I would love to be at 170lb. My plan is to cuts down the processed carbs, eat more vegetables and make sure I hit my daily protein target.

It's day 2, and I'm already hungry Grin I'm trying to keep the snacking to a minimum and stay away from food where I can't just eat one of, like biscuits.

NorthernPowermouse · 07/01/2020 21:46

@Mumma1984 I want at least two stone gone, more like two and a half. I’m low carbing and 16:8ing most of the time. Plus trying to exercise more. Pretty similar to you really! Going to be weighing on sat (Wednesday mornings too chaotic getting kids out) so hopefully I’ll see a loss.

Good luck, it’s a lovely group here and I’ve already noticed myself resisting temptation as I’m accountable!

Mumma1984 · 07/01/2020 22:03

@NorthernPowermouse I think I have to weigh in less - it's too disheartening doing it every day like I have been (I'm not sure why I have - just desperate to see a change haha) i think I'll do Saturday mornings and hope it will change quick! I'm so worried I won't get there in time but I'm desperate to look nice in my dress and the photos! :(

My 5,3 frame can't carry 11 stone something like I am now I need to get to 10,3 max!

SheepSocks · 07/01/2020 22:03

I've converted what I need to lose from stone to kg. It's 20kg, so I'm going with this whole 2020 thing! 20kg off in 2020.

NorthernPowermouse · 07/01/2020 22:15

@Mumma1984 I’m just over 5’3 and I was 12 stone on the 1st. Heaviest I’ve ever been. I was 9,2 16 months ago. So cross with myself, it’s pure greed and laziness (though two kids and a full time job do make finding time to exercise difficult).

You have such a lovely incentive to keep at it I’m sure you can do it.

Sheep that has a nice ring to it Smile

Mumma1984 · 07/01/2020 22:18

@NorthernPowermouse so similar to me! I was 9 stone 13 in December 2016 before I had my son and I had a 6 pack now I have a 12 pack of flab 🤣

It's so so hard when u have kids and work !

annabell22 · 08/01/2020 06:08

Morning all and welcome new joiners.

Weigh in Wednesday for me and I have lost a whopping 100g Angry

I have been 100% on plan, fasted at least 18 hours 6/7 days, 3 gym visits, long swim, logged all food on mfp, vegan, low sugar and under 1500 every day. I honestly don't think I could do any more.

On the bright side, my trousers aren't as tight and I'm down 2.3kg in total in the last month. I will continue to be patient, mostly as I refuse to believe next week could possibly be the same outcome!

ilovetrees30 · 08/01/2020 06:43

Morning all. Wednesday weigh in for me and I am 2.5lb down in a week. Cant believe that considering I have only really been good monday and Tuesday but clearly cutting out bad carbs, fizzy pop and chocolate/sweets has worked!! Leta hope it stays that way

BustedDreams · 08/01/2020 06:46

Good Morning!

@DrDiva sounds like you’ve your hand full. Not getting enough sleep is so disruptive for all of you. Hope your ds is ok.

@2020newme we have salad with something cooked like chicken or fish a couple of times a week. It is so refreshing and invigorating iyswim.

@MrsJonesAndMe no I didn’t see the Paleo programme. Is it worth a watch? Will look for it on catch up.

@Mumma1984 a warm welcome! How lovely for you...Congrats! Don’t panic, you’ve come to the right place. Your goal seems doable. Lose about 1lb a week and your there! I was over 12st, lost 2st but then developed thyroid illness. Still trying to get the dose right but I’m still on it (if not my weight would have ballooned). You can do it!

@SheepSocks well done on your gym session 👏. Portion control is my nemesis. If I don’t weigh my food at regular intervals my portion size gets bigger over time. It can sabotage anyone’s best efforts. I like your lose 20 in 2020 Grin

@NorthernPowermouse 👍👏 Hope you’re not to sore!

Welcome @eatsideofthebay well done on making a start! You’ll can do it. Plan, be mindful, set mini goals. Step by step we’ll get you there.

@annabell22 I get your disappointment but don’t get despondent. If you’re working hard at the gym your muscles will be breaking down and repairing so they will develop. This process alone holds water/glycemic stores in your tissues which will weigh extra weight. Also once you’ve developed muscles, they weigh heavier than fat. Your silhouette has changed and your clothes loser etc. And you’ve lost too. Win/Win.

I will weigh once I’ve been to the bathroom and showered etc. Drum roll please Grin

Lose in 2020/January.
