Anyone with 5 stone + to lose in 2020?

This has to be the year it happens. I can’t keep calling it baby weight - he’ll be 3 this year! I’m sick of avoiding being in photos with my DS, and not being able to run round after him. Anyone else?

About 7stone to lose here. Feel a bit despondent as I keep saying that I'll do this, but haven't managed to lose any yet. Why not? - bit disorganised maybe? But also eat for comfort, and it's been a stressful year.

But my children are all now officially adults, and I need to take far more responsibility for my health so as not to become ill, and burden them with a sick mother.

Hoping that joining in with like minded folks here will be a boost!

Mulledwineinajug · 26/12/2019 18:53

I’m in!

Low carb hasn’t worked for me. I think I eat too much cheese.
I’ve had some success with ww but tend to get stuck after a couple of Stone.

I had great success with a vlcd a couple of years ago but just don’t know if I can face that again

yode · 26/12/2019 18:58

I need to lose 5 stone, I lost 3 stone this year, but I was very on and off with the clean eating. But I'm extra determined to lose a considerable amount before I go to Glastonbury festival this year.
I find that when I don't eat breakfast and do a 16 hour fast every day, drink over 2 litres of water, and get an hour workout in each day, I lose weight, so I'll just strictly keep to that most days of the week.

Thescrewinthetuna · 26/12/2019 19:02

Can I join? I have 5 stone to lose, I’ve been trying on and off and getting more and more depressed about my weight. My children have just turned 6 & 4 so I need to do this. For them and me. I’m so miserable. I avoid photos, socialising and don’t even bother doing things I enjoy because I feel like a fat mess and don’t feel like doing my hair or makeup makes me look any better, so what is the point? I don’t want to feel this way. I want to feel attractive and healthy. We can do this.

Sunshinelollipops1 · 26/12/2019 19:04

Count me in.

Need to lose nearly 4 stone to be back in healthy weight and would like to lose another 2.5 on top of that so 6.5 stone in total.

This has been my plan for several years. This year I have ended up half a stone heavier then last...

I am determined this is going to be the year.

I have a stressful job with erratic hours and comfort eat. I’ve also suffered ill health which has effected my ability to exercise.

What is everyone doing diet exercise wise?

I am planning to do 16:8 and then healthy eating (no sugar, low carb) in the 8 hours.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 26/12/2019 19:31

Well done on the weight loss some of you have managed this year.

So16/8 is intermittent fasting? I seem to have quite erratic blood sugar so I don’t think I could manage that.

I’m looking forward to C25K. I did it earlier this year and only got to week 3/4 but could really tell how I had built up how long I could run.

I’m starting tomorrow I think. I don’t have anything on that would mess me up so I think I’ll just crack on.

It’s the chocs and snacks all evening that are my problem.

Myusername2015 · 26/12/2019 19:34

Yes me; about 4.5 stone to lose. I also have a nearly 3 year old and I have to sort this out. I’ve done couch to 5k and now love running but eat rubbish all the time and it needs to end

Loveprosecca · 26/12/2019 20:10

Can I join? ! I have 3.5 to lose. I am getting a fitbit next week. Going to couch to 5k as a soon as I get fitbit.

Loveprosecca · 26/12/2019 20:11

Sorry that's 3.5 stone to lose.

Tetran · 26/12/2019 20:13

Me! I have lost 6 stone previously, but pregnancy and maternity leave has left me more or less to my original weight pre weight loss, and I feel so unhealthy. I know I can do it in theory as I have before, but with a baby and being back at work in the mix it will certainly be more challenging than being a student! But it needs to happen this year, I've wasted so much time wanting to be fitter and healthier (and fit back into my clothes), that it's now affecting me.

Frankier88 · 26/12/2019 20:16

Me too.
Got at least four stone to lose for my wedding in October. Been faffing around since July doing low carb, watching my calories and increasing exercise but haven't got very far! 😭

Sweetooth92 · 26/12/2019 20:17

I’ll be joining you all once DS2 arrives-expected nye. I seem to just hold every ounce during pregnancy with no control over what goes on despite being really careful 🙄 so I expect I’ll have the 5-6 I lost after DS1 last year to shift all over again. But I did it once, can do it again. And I’m sure you all can too!

TARSCOUT · 26/12/2019 20:20

16/8 is 16 hours fasting and 8 hours eating. Meant to start eating at 12 and then nothing after 8pm. Wouldn't imagine good for blood sugar Mercedes. I am starting on 7th January!!!

lunar1 · 26/12/2019 20:25

3.5 to go for me, I lost 4.5 in the second half of this year. To be honest from where I was every pound now is a bonus, but I would like to be 9 stone.

hamstersarse · 26/12/2019 20:26

16/8 is designed to help blood sugar levels!!!

The reason your blood sugar will be messed up is because you eat too regularly. And you eat refined sugar and starch in those snacks.

IFartGlitterAndTinsel · 26/12/2019 20:27

Yep 😩

flindorama · 26/12/2019 20:29

Me. I need to lose a bare minimum of 4st 4lbs just to get into the healthy weight range bracket. So 5st would be ideal!
My kids are 13, 11 and 6 and every year I put on half a stone after failed attempts. I'm a huge comfort eater so I know that's my main problem. I was also massively addicted to diet coke (8 cans a day) for years! I'd tried to give up so many times but 4 months ago I just woke up.and said no more. And I've not had another since. So I feel like I'm ready to tackle the overeating and exercise now!

My DH works abroad a lot so my plan is to try and get up half an hour earlier than normal and do the absolute beginners Joe Wicks HIIT workouts 3 times a week, plus swimming a couple of times.

Diet wise I'm not sure but I need to start eating a proper breakfast because I skip it and end up eating/snacking on rubbish all the time!

ChunkyButFunkeyy · 26/12/2019 20:30

Me! 5ft 3 & 14 stone!! Need to be around 8 and half/9 stone my youngest is four on Saturday so definitely can't blame the baby weight anymore!

MollyWindley · 26/12/2019 20:31

My baby is twenty-two years old....losing six stone would give me the upper range of a normal BMI...... I think I just need to eat less, about five years ago I managed to lose a couple of stone but piled it back on in stressful times.

SellMySoulForMoreSleep · 26/12/2019 20:47

Me! I'm 14.5 stone and need to lose 5 of that. I am going to the US this summer and we have a family wedding in September so I really would like to have lost at least 3 by then. My kids are 11 and 8, I really have no excuse anymore.
I have lost weight on slimming world in the past but I don't think it's sustainable long term because it's actually a really odd way to eat.
I am planning on doing 16:8, no bread, no alcohol and one small treat a day (if I don't have this I will cheat).

SunsetBoulevard3 · 26/12/2019 21:09

The question is how to do it though... I've lost 2 stone in the past through cutting right down on carbs but I can't get into the zone at all.

WhenDoISleep · 26/12/2019 21:13

Me - I'm looking to lose 4st but 5 - 5.5 st would be better for me as it would put me right in the middle of a heathy BMI for my height.

OhCumInMyFaceful · 26/12/2019 21:19

7ish to lose I think. Got to reweigh myself

TrixIrl · 26/12/2019 21:24

Me! 4 stone or so would be amazing over 2020 but I'm getting married 1st June so need to frontload it!

Managed to get pregnant all of 2 weeks after paying all the deposits etc and she's 8 months now and it's been ridiculously hard to get started.

DP is joining the weightloss journey from 1st Jan so hoping with both of us on the wagon it'll really help.

Weekly food shop.
1 bottle of wine and packet of biscuits a week.
No takeways.
Reduce carbs.
A silly one- filling the car with petrol on a weekend so I've no reason to stop on way home from work- absolute weakness!
Couch to 5k and abs challenge app.

creativeusername · 26/12/2019 21:26

I'm in! I've got loads to lose. I'd like to do 6st next year - half a stone per month seems doable.
I've always been over weight but 2 kids and working full time has left me with very little time to look after myself and its piled on over the last 5 years. I've got a home gym ready to go. I just need to cut my portion sizes and stop snacking in the evenings. I've got a couple of big events next year which I'd like to dress up for without looking like a sack of spuds!!
