Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

Hi Fedda, How did the first week go??

fedda · 13/01/2008 13:27

Hi, fimbles, up and down, bad a good. How was yours?

Fimbles5 · 13/01/2008 13:59

About the same - started really well on Thursday, totally lost it Tuesday and Wednesday, but managed to get back on track for weigh in. Only lost 1lb which isn't great after the overeating of Christmas but suppose its better than nothing. Trying to do better this week, but already had a bad weekend.

fedda · 13/01/2008 18:38

Or a good weekend? It's nice sometimes to forget about being careful all the time. Tomorrow is a good day to try to get back to eating carefully.

kidsrus · 13/01/2008 19:44

that means i had a fantastic w/e
looking foreward to another great box this week. i have them once a fortnight and they last well.
large value box

if you are interested and they deliver in your area let me have your email and i will send a you a link so we will both get a half price box.

I mixed chopped onion, tomato, chillis, lemon juice and garlic into the advocado's last night and ate with our low fat oven chips last night and it was lovely so i got there in the end!

fedda · 13/01/2008 23:08

Thank you, kidrus fora nice idea but I'm afraid I'm just old fationed and I like going to shops and choosing my veg so I just don't go for delivered veg boxes, otherwise I'd be very interested.

kidsrus · 13/01/2008 23:19

fedda i used to be like that but i think the veg in the box is much nicer and fresher than i get from the supermarket.
even the carrots last well.

Fimbles5 · 14/01/2008 08:11

Thanks kidsrus - I would have been interested, had a look at the link, what an amazing saving on the grocery shop. Unfortunately they do not deliver in my area, but I will keep checking, and may try to find out if there is a similar scheme which delivers around here.

fedda · 14/01/2008 18:43

I've decided to eat everything because when I stop eating something I compensate with a lot of other things and although people say you can't overdo veg, my stomach does get upset. i need to be careful to eat normal portions and just use common sence.

kidsrus · 14/01/2008 20:36

fedda that is a very good rule but in moderation is the key.
i hope that your not trying to say you are giving up on the healthy eating plan!
We are here to support and we are all struggling at the moment.
I intend to try harder this week but im feeling a bit down and need to buck my ideas up but not sure how to.
Tried to declutter today but 1 hour is never enough & can't do a thing with dd around as i'm cleaning she's trashing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Iv'e tried leaving it and now its made me feel worse because its such a mess here i don't know where to start.
Can't even clean at night as she's awake till 11 or 12.
But hey ho at least shes happy and well cared for whats a little mess while she's a little angel for such a short time!

Fimbles5 · 14/01/2008 21:55

kidsrus - try not to worry A health visitor once said to me, that she could always tell a happy, well cared for child by the mess in the house. If the house is untidy, then you must be spending valuable time with your loved one. The housework will still be there tomorrow. Your little angel won't be small forever. Enjoy!! Mine are growing so fast. I do understand, I have started a new job recently and the housework is taking a back seat. I am feeling the strain too. You have my sympathy. No wonder we are struggling with the diet, when we need our comfort foods.

fedda · 14/01/2008 23:20

I actually managed to involve my very messy 4 year old in cleaning his room and we've spent a quality time together. I think, the key is to keep it fun and when they had enough - not to force it. I'm not giving up and you have my full support but I'm tiref of diets i can't sustain so I'm hoping to have good quality meals, mainly home made, even if they are pies (well, with shop bought pastry as mine is rubbish). I'm afraid I've just had 2 little pieces of organic dark chocolate - I needed it as I was really low (well, I should have been in bed by now but this is my very own time. Yesterday DS woke up at 4 am and was crying for a while, when he eventually stopped after some water and lots of cuddles, I couldn't sleep for 1 hour).

Fimbles5 · 17/01/2008 07:55

Any success stories you can tell me about. I am really struggling with this!!

fedda · 17/01/2008 12:12

Me too.

kidsrus · 17/01/2008 23:01

hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im very happy today i managed to catch up with some house work while dd slept for an hour.(only have half a mountain now!!!!!!)
walked to school
ate cornflakes for breakie
soup for lunch
chicken stew and dumplings for tea
couple of chocs tonight now off to bed to sleep as dc woke the last two nights too.
both come in about 5am 1 wanting cuddles the other wanting to tell me all about his nightmares.
now have backache as 4 in our bed does'nt go.

fedda · 17/01/2008 23:03

Lovely to hear your news, kidrus.

kidsrus · 17/01/2008 23:06

just a thought before i go would it help us to reveal everything we eat on here everyday.
then we will try harder as no one wants to type the all the bad things.
but if we are all honest and type them then we will avoid eating them as we will have to type them and feel embarrassed.

fedda · 17/01/2008 23:29

Yes, like me having 1,5 duck legs with the skin on tonight + roast pots, mushy peas, carrots. Morning - good - half a carrot, water. lunch - bad - finished bolognese from yesterday - rather large portion. had cherries, grapes later. Tea with jam. So, how do I sound?

fedda · 18/01/2008 18:11

Today: breakfast - none, simply didn't have time before taking kids to school. 11 - cold duck leg with 1/2 pomegranate and an orange, tea with jam and fruit bar, snack - apple, orange, then tea with jam. Dinner will be trout with home made french fries and green beans.

fedda · 18/01/2008 18:33

Forgot to mention, 4 pm tea with jam and mixed seeds.

fedda · 18/01/2008 22:16

Goat's cheese with matzos (just discovered them as they are low fat and no salt) after fish course, then coffee with 2 sugars and unsalted flaked almonds. Come on, girls, who is next?

fedda · 19/01/2008 15:37

Okay, it's just me then posting all the naughty things i was eating. Well, today:
B: snack pack of prunes and 1 apple
L: eating out - starter - grilled chicken on sticks with peanut sauce, main - steak with plain rice, pudding - banana fritters with vanilla ice cream (naughty!), teatime will be turkey sandwiches.

fedda · 19/01/2008 19:24

I resisted turkey sandwich and had 1 orange, a bunch of grapes and some cherry tomatoes. later will have pomegranate and tea with jam.

kidsrus · 19/01/2008 23:27

well done fedda you are doing great!
i have a big confession.
forgive me father for i have sinned (badly)
today was dd's birthday

b nothing
11s coffee(1)cake & chocs
l toms, cuc, cheese,ham,2 rivitas & tea
3ish coffee(1) cake & chocs
e/m fish pie with peas, sweetcorn
desert choc cheese cake & icecream
coffee(1)
1 lychee

as for the last two days i dont even want to remember as the meals were good it was what i put in between them.

anyway tomo is another day and one will try harder.
i really want to lose weight by easter and even more by august.

fedda · 20/01/2008 11:59

i think when we have nothing for breakfast we tend to overeat later. Sometimes just half a raw carrot or an apple or two can make all the difference. Anyway, I'm not doing great really but I made myself go for a walk after i had banana fritters with ice cream (did you read all my recent posts? I don't think I was doing soo great) but we are all humans, we can't be perfect.
