lol, seems like I escaped Bran's eagle eyes.

MG and Bran-- I am doing better today ty, think body is fighting some germ or such.

esbee--- don't know why pinapple works, just remember it being called a supper diet food, oh and also grapefruit.

monkeygirl · 26/10/2004 10:26

Champs - you reckon you escaped then eh - just watch your back (and your PC screen) is all I will say . Being ill and trying to still be 'good' is hard - don't beat yourself up cos I'm sure you'll be back on track soon (if you're not now). I am trying to avoid getting yet another cold off the los - but ds has sneezed several times in my mouth today so I guess that's a non-starter then.

I tried a strawberry skinny cow as well as the choccy fudge one btw (market research honest! ) and thought it wasn't as nice but they're not a bad 'treat' at all.

Essbee - doesn't sound like you pig out so maybe a breadmaker would be good for your family as then you can have fresh bread with no addititives etc - I think I might get one eventually but not yet as I will eat the whole loaf myself if it is warm, squidgey, doughy droooooooooooolllllll....

PuffTheMagicDragon · 26/10/2004 13:46

Hi everyone, Can I join you?

I still have a lot of weight to lose - its going to be a long haul and I need some friends to do it with.

At my heaviest I was 18st 4lbs. Have now got down to 16st 2lbs. Have lost 12lbs in the last 6 weeks or so, joining in another thread, but its gone quiet and even when I get to the 1 and a half stone target, there's still a long way to go.

monkeygirl · 26/10/2004 13:55

Welcome Puff (do you mind if I call you that??). I'm relatively new to this thread, although not MN, and they have definitely given me a well-deserved kick up my substantial butt.

Well done on your weight loss, I'm already - are you on a particular diet?

PuffTheMagicDragon · 26/10/2004 14:06

Thanks monkeygirl - happy to be called Puff.

Have bought a book called "The Gi diet" (the glycemic index) by Rick Gallop. Am following this loosly and so far (fingers crossed) its working.

woodpops · 26/10/2004 14:14

Can I join in as well please?? I'm starting to get a bit bored with my diet and always find that when I get bored I give up shortly after. This time I can't give up, I must be thin or live the rest of my life regretting it!!!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 26/10/2004 14:22

Ooh, glad someone is joining on the same day as me. Thanks woodpops .

woodpops · 26/10/2004 14:24

Together we can do this puff

WigWamBam · 26/10/2004 14:27

Hello Puff, you found us then! You'll both find lots of encouragement here - but I must warn you that they're quite fond of whips and kicked bottoms ...

woodpops · 26/10/2004 14:42

WWB, believe me I've got enough bottom to kick!!!!

monkeygirl · 26/10/2004 14:46

Welcome (officially!) Woodpops - but are you still wanting to do Lighterlife?? You've done incredibly well haven't you? I decided to try and go it alone again, although I was considering LL after your fantastic loss. Now I've (finally) decided on a low-carb but sensible (ahem, well we'll see about that) eating plan. I've also had to ban myself from eating choc for now as it has been a big downfall of mine these past few months.

Puff - I've read loads aboout the GI diet recently and most people have been praising it. I shall be monitoring your progress with interest!

woodpops · 26/10/2004 14:50

Yep, still doing LL. Been doing it for 4 weeks now and have lost 27lb. In theory this phase ends 30th Dec so looks like a chocolate drink for my Xmas dinner!!!!!

WigWamBam · 26/10/2004 14:53

You and me both, Woodpops - I have about 10 stone to lose, so believe me, my bottom is pretty substantial!

monkeygirl · 26/10/2004 14:55

What, you're not even allowed one day off? Oh well I guess next Christmas you'll be slinking around in some wispy excuse for a dress....

woodpops · 26/10/2004 15:01

I'd like to think so. I'm even daring to look at thin clothes in shops now. I look like the bag lady of Nottingham at the minute as all my clothes are hanging off of me. I'm not keen to buy more as I'm loosing the weight so quickly. I brought a pair of Jeans from m&s a week ago and already they're loose!!!!

bran · 26/10/2004 16:56

Hello Woodpops and Puff, welcome.

Woodpops you absolute cannot give up, I forbid it, especially when you're doing so well. You're an inspiration to me . You definitely have to stay with Lighter Life until the end of the program because it's one of those all or nothing things, and you know that if you go back to your previous diet without doing their maintenance bit at the end then you'll just swell back up in no time [stern smiley].

Puffdragon I've heard really good things about the GI diet, lots of health professionals think that it's very balanced and good for you. I've been trying to keep the gi of my meals low within the WW diet that I'm doing, I gave up chocolate and sweet things completely although you can have them on WW. When I was on holiday I was a bit more lax though, and now I've got the taste for sweet things back and I'll have to go through the craving all over again .

I'm glad you're feeling better champs. You must have a guilty conscience though if you're glad I didn't see you, be good!

You can all be angry at me if you like, I totalled my points yesterday, and then attacked the fridge. I just couldn't stop myself , all sorts of left-overs just went straight from the fridge shelf to my mouth, plus dh came home with fish and chips so I had some of that too. I think it's TOTM, I have not willpower left . Whips at the ready please.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 26/10/2004 21:38

Can I still post my weight loss/gain/stay the same on a Tuesday? Have got into a routine with it which is working for me at the mo.

Woodpops - your weightloss is AMAZING - haven't heard of Lighterlife before, but its ovbiously working for you. Well done.

Jennisaurus · 26/10/2004 23:17

Does anyone remember me? Sorry I have been slacking on MN!

I am currently (dum dum dummmmmm) two and a half stone down, I am very pleased with that and I am now a nice size 16, but have a long way to go yet!

I had a very calorific fancy hot chocolate today though and I have been quite naughty recently

woodpops · 27/10/2004 08:30

Cheers Bran.

I think another incentive for me to keep oin the diet is the fact it costs £45 a week. I hate the thought of wasting ALL of that money. Plus this week I have managed to get into my pre 1st pregnacy lab coats at work and ds is now 3. I was sooooooooooo chuffed.

Found it hard last night cooked dh a really quick chuck in the oven meal, chicken kiev, spicy potato wedges and peas. It smelt lush, I could have easily dived into it!!! But I didn't. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks since I last ate a meal. It'll be very odd when I do go onto maintenance and start eating again. Most people in my group have picked at something or other over the past 4 weeks but I just know that if I started I wouldn't stop so I won't start!!!

What diet are everyone here doing???

glitterfairy · 27/10/2004 09:44

HI everyone have had a shocking cold and been very very nuaghty but am starting to recover now and will be back at the gym on Sunday. Am in Dublin again so am drinking too much as well!

Had a row with dh at the weekend whilst sniffling and coughing about my internet use! So have promised to cut that down too oh life is so tedious constant restraint and will power needed.

Champs how are you hun? Bran (need you to retrun the favour). Will post later and see how you all are. Blimey this thread is getting so popular and busy it is great and Jenni well well done

soapbox · 27/10/2004 09:44

OH can I join in too! Hvae also been doing lighterlife but since beginning of July. Have lost 3.5 stones now. Had a blip last week on holiday though when I ate rather a lot and ended up putting on 3lbs. I need some motivation to get back into the diet and STICK to it

woodpops · 27/10/2004 09:57

Soapbox, have you managed to get back on track or are you still eating as normal???? Do you reckon I'll be eating by the time we go to cp in Jan???

soapbox · 27/10/2004 10:07

Woodpops - got straight back on it on Friday when we got back and have stuck to it since. Going back into ketosis was hell so a good motivation not to eat again!

If you start management at the beginning of January then you will be able to eat something when you go but probably not completely normally IYKWIM.

I tyhink in the first week you do 3 meal packs and a very small portion of protein. Week 2 is 2 packs and a normalish meal but no carbs. Then you start trigger weeks, which I think are cheese, bread, ?,?. Then it is a gradual weaning off the remaining 2 packs bakc onto normal food. Finally finishing maintenance meetings at 12 weeks. You then go to drop in weigh ins for the rest of the year, once a week, then once a fortnight and then once a month (but think you can choose the frequency that suits you).

woodpops · 27/10/2004 10:16

You did well to get back into it right away. When are you planning on going onto management???

I'll miss our group when people start going onto management. I've made some really good friends there. It's a good ½ hour drive to my group and there's 4 of us that car share, we all live within 10 minutes of each other. We have a right giggle in the car on the way there and back.
